This review is for a Revival Facial with Vitamin C Peel from Mylynn Nguygen. (I mention her by name only because my friend also received the *same* treatment from Porche, however, when comparing notes, we actually had completely different experiences.) \r \r I cannot say enough about the facial that I received from Mylynn. She was thorough, exacting, but gentle with her extractions. She spent an inordinate amount of time detoxifying my skin of all its impurities. (My friend did not get any extractions whatsoever.)\r \r Mylynn also gave me a deep tissue massage to my neck, arms, and shoulders. (Porche only provided a light touch.)\r \r Mylynn slathered my hands in oils and warmed them in gloves (Porche did not offer this service to my friend.)\r \r Mylynn offered sage advice about what to expect (a darkening of the skin and then a sloughing period). She also recommended that I use a generous application of both sunscreen and moisturizer. She then offered a small sample of vitamin C lotion. (Porche did not mention any of these things nor offer the said lotion.)\r \r As far as our notes compare, the only similarity was the actual vitamin C peel. Normally I would feel that $140 (but $110 with an online discount) would be a bit on the high for a facial -- but with Mylynn, it was worth every penny! Both my friend and I are already planning to specifically request Mylynn for our next appointments. \r more

I found Melissa from Newtown Toppers!!! 5/12/2012

I was a client of the Newtown Toppers for a long time. After I got married my husband and I went a few times for massages (they only serviced women at one point). Long story short- I called about 6 months ago and asked to have my massage with Melissa (she's the BEST)...they told me she doesn't work there anymore. Well, I happened to be at the Yardley Starbucks the other day and I ran into Melissa!!! She opened her own spa in Yardley borough. If anyone is looking for Melissa (or if you want the best massage in the world) check out www.mspayardley more

Don""t Do It! 6/16/2011

A wonderful idea turns into a terrible waste of money. My daughter gave me a certificate for a massage to say, I love you."" I waited two years almost to use this because of time restrain ..Boy was I disappointed! A nice receptionist, young African American girl with a nice smile, Customer service Friendly, met me - all went down from there. . Dark rooms - horrible music and a pitcher of lemon water and I - waiting-------- I felt like I was in a very shady masseuse parlor..... The masseuses took approx 15 minutes to come get me after I had changed into the robe. An apology and introduction - She finally started. I thought my grandchildren were rubbing my thighs and my feel for most of the 35 minutes spent. Five minutes was spent on my back and the horrible rubbing against the sheet when massaging my neck while literally holding my head was unbearable. I originally asked for a deep tissue massage and was told when asked, ""What kind of massage is this?"" That it was a Swedish one. Well I have had many and that was not a Swedish one. Ok I'm really ready to go (40 minutes later) and before exiting I thought I would shower the tons of oil off, the shower was disgusting with clumps of hair in the corner.. I had to put my glasses on to see what it was, I really thought it was some sort of small animal. Finally done! Trying to exit I got lost, no one to escort me. Maybe it was the time of day and everyone was trying to get home. I didn't schedule this to be the last one person in the shop. But I felt like I would need keys to exit since I couldn't find anyone. (after the girl came to the shower to tell me where to leave the robe) I was not going to take it. Well needless to say that I will not go back to Toppers Spa in Center Center. I would not have written this at all but after coming across my receipt and seeing the $97.00 and 50 mins.I thought it was worth noting the time charged was from teh time I walked in the time time left, not a 50 min. massage as shown on the receipt. I arrived at 6:30 and was out the door at 7:41. more

Great Massage 3/29/2011

I was reluctant to visit Toppers Spa in Newtown after reading some reviews. That being said.....I finally booked my appointment and hoped for the best. \r While not impressed all that much with some aspects(locker room cleanliness, lack of amentities, and some other aspects) My actual service (a 75 min Therapeutic Massage) was AMAZING. Meissa took time to ask me exactly what it was I was hoping to achieve from my service that day. She far exceeded my expectations. I left feeling better than I have in months and rebooked for two weeks. My advice....see Melissa. Great service! more

I was totally pumped about my 'updo' appointment at toppers after speaking with the very colorful gentleman who scheduled me, even after i inquired about lash extensions and i was told he didn't know the answer to any of my inquires and he would call me back the next day with all the info, and never did. I was willing to let that slide and was still excited to get my hair done at such a 'fancy' salon, i was under the impression that toppers was indeed a 'fancy' salon because of the pricey services they offered. I explained to my stylist what i wanted out of my updo and they got started......not only did it take forever but i was totally disappointed when my chair spun around to see my do. since i was on a timed schedule i figured i would just make the best of it, get my lashes done real quick and head out to my event. When i inquired about my lash appointment that i was told would directly follow my hair appointment the front desk staff was taken by surprise and completely rude to me, and acted as if i was a huge bother to them, they were frustrated with me and their co-workers, i know this because the blonde behind the desk voiced her frustration with her co-workers several times. She was EXTREMELY RUDE to a new employee that was training behind the desk. finally i got 'squeezed in' with the lash girl, who was very pleasant and fun, but my lashes looked terrible. very close to my deadline i rushed out of toppers bitting my tongue to not confront the mean blonde behind the desk, the stylist who charged me $78 for curling my hair, and trying not to rip of my lashes even though i was in fear that i may be mistaken for a tranny. $115 later the very first gust of wind that hit me on my way to my parking spot blew every curl right out of my hair and i showed up late and with raggedy hair to my event. I most definitely would not recommend Toppers to anyone. I hope this review helps someone rethink their decision to try out toppers. and i hope that super bitchy blonde reads this and changes her attitude!!! more

Something needs to be done 6/19/2010

In general, it is not a bad place. It offers viraity of services. The problem mostly is the stuff. One person in particular. I hope somebody from the salon reads this and do something about it. I had manicure done by a Russian woman ( I think named Olga, but i might be wrong, since i tryed to forget her..). First of all her and friends of hers were speaking russian non stop in front of customers. I happen to understand russian, and their conversations were highly innappropriate. And then the worst thing. I asked her if she could do any design on my nails, and her answer was: ""DESIGH? No, i would never. This is horrible, what are you, some Black person?"" Now, that is plain discrimination. People get sued for that. And i did want design, that i obviously didnt get. And the only reason why i did not, i think, was because the woman was so unprofessional and didnt know how to do it. That i understood from the horrible manicuse i recieved...\r So that woman needs to be fired. I have been going to the salon for a while, but after that i never came back. And never will. Pros: Pretty inside Cons: Horrible service more

Not the best, but not the worst either 6/11/2010

I recently had a massage at Toppers. The whole experience was ok... the staff was very nice and polite. What I was there for was a massage and what I got was a back rub. Let's just say I expected a 5 star place to perform better.\r \r I think I will give them the benefit of the doubt and try them in a week when I'm going in for a massage with my bff. I'll get back with a review then, but for now just a 2 star. Pros: Nice staff, Cons: A bit pricy, not attention oriented more

Cannot belive this place is still open 1/9/2010

I went to toppers because I'm new from NYC and my friends here told me to go to toppers if I wanted a good spa/salon. With high expectations, I was let down by the first appointment phone call when the receptionist was unkind and clearly not happy about life. Next, I was told to go to the top floor and my waxer Carol I think her name was, called me into her room from the bathroom across the hall. She immediately made me feel very uncomfortable while she didn't leave the room while I took off my clothes. Totally ackward and just plain weird. I just laid there watching her double dip the wax, and only used stripped wax, none of the blue stuff I'm used to. As if all these things weren't bad enough, When I got to the receptionist to pay, she charged me $80 for a brazillian wax. Way more than the website said and when I questioned it, she just told me I was wrong. So rude. So now I was treated rudely, overpaid for a service that was unsanitary, and uncomfortable. I wont be back.... and when my friends try to recommend Toppers, I will tell them everything. Pros: big space, good location Cons: customer service, unsanitary, overpriced more
