Best haircut, excellent customer service 4/15/2008

Hi, I enjoyed a wonderful birthday present from my boyfriend who surprised me with a full day at your spa. I had never been to a spa before, so I was very anxious and nervous. My fears were gone instantly as the entire staff here are extremely friendly and warm. The highlight of my special day was getting my hair cut and having makeup applied. My hair was very damaged and fine and I told my stylist, Daniel that he had his work cut out for him! He transformed me from an ugly duckling into a sleek swan, very cliche, I know, but it's the truth! He and his assistant Lauren are miracle workers; I wish I could have taken a before and after picture to show the transformation! I look like an entirely different person! He gave me a wonderful warm lighter color that looks fabulous! I also was worried that I would not be able to keep up the hairstyle on my own, but Daniel insisted I could, and he was right! Daniel and Lauren are such assets to this spa not only because of their talents but because they are people oriented and they listen to you and make you feel very comfortable. I was so excited when I saw the finished product, and when my boyfriend came to pick me up, he was smiling from ear to ear! He could not believe how great I looked with the new hairstyle and makeup! We left there and had dinner at the Chart House. A perfect ending to a wonderful day! Thanks to Christine, Alissa, Carli and my makeup girl (forgive me I forgot your name) and extra special thanks to Daniel and Lauren for making me look and feel like a million bucks!. i love the staff at toppers spa in newtown, i have never had a bad experience until recently. i had an appointment one night and when i walked in i was rudely welcomed by a skinny blonde haired girl . i asked her to just remind me of how to use the locker room and was treated like i had disturbed her magazine time. then when i commented about the renovations she basically ignored me! later that night after my service i was sitting in the waiting room which was filled with the same dirty glasses that had been there before i went into my massage and she just walked by and didnt pick a thing up. after being so meanly treated i would not want to go back while she was working! Pros: wonderful massage Cons: rude receptionist more

Horrible customer service 3/6/2008

I will NEVER go back to Toppers Spa in Newtown! I have been to many spas in the area and never was i treated so rudely by a worker at the reception desk. As i entered the front reception area I was not greeted properly and felt as if I had interupted their lunch. The heavy set young woman was ok but a little condescending when i asked if i had interupted. The other young lady was very rude while showing me back to the changing area. She even rolled her eyes at me when I asked her to repeat the locker code!!! The massage was nice but after not feeling like a guest I could not fully enjoy it. more

Daniel Ianelli at Toppers is fantastic!! I have been going to him for 17 years and he delivers the greatest haircuts and coloring I have experienced. His customer service is the best in the business. He will do anything he can to fit your schedule and I have received all positive and rave reviews from my friends that I have sent to him. He is a chemist, understanding coloring and what is best for your hair and complexion. He is a delight to deal with and has travelled all over the world. He is very serious about his craft and goes annually to at least two hair conventions (one in Europe and one in the U.S.) to stay current on trends/best practices/styles. His assistant, Leanna, is very customer-focused and the entire experience at Toppers is wonderful. Check-in and check-out iare easy/scheduling is no problem and once you are there, youf eel very special. Appointments are on-time and friendly. I highly reccomend Daniel at Toppers! more

I wrote a letter to Toppers complaining that when I got into the shower, there was a clump of hair and a celophane wrapper in the drain. I have never been to any spa, where there wasn't at least a pitcher of water or a bowl of apples in the waiting area. including a decent supply of magazines and seating. I am not referring to high end amenities. I could tell you about high end but I didn't expect that here, so my expectations were not unrealistic.. It is a FACT that it is important to have a glass of water AFTER your massage. I won't explain here. The place just feels dirty. The day I was there, I did not find frequent spa goers but women with ""birthday"" gift certificates, most of them never having been to a spa. I had no complaint about the service. This manager, Frank Rueter should be fired along with some of the ""no frills"" policies. We are there to be pampered in every way. He completely ignored the situation I stated about the shower and says,""Our facilities are clean."" Frank ignored the hair and paper in the shower drain.. The shower smelled stale, not the smell you get when something has been scrubbed.. A sweet aroma permiates the building in order to cover up the not so clean areas. The lighting is very dim and I think brighter lights would reveal too much. Instead of saying that he would look into having a basic pitcher water for clients, and three dollars worth of fruit, he ends with a sarcastic sentence. ""I can appreciate that you may be a spa enthusiast, who more than likely has been around the world and consequently has experienced spa environments that we could not even imagine."" e rudness is this man is only exceeded by the conditions in the shower. Give him a copy of ""How to Win Friends and Influence people"" and don't go to Toppers. Pros: My massuse was a professional Cons: no water, no fruit, few magazines, not clean, not comfortable chairs in waiting room. more

Best pedicure 10/4/2007

Mylynn is the best. She gives the best pedicure I ever had. It's a pleasure to sit in her chair. My feet never felt so good. Pros: the best pedicure ever Cons: I was sorry when it had to end more
