Nightmare On Grand - Wedding Shoppe 8/20/2007

I was suppose to be celebrating one the happiest times of my life and the Wedding Shoppe turned my experience into a nightmare. The customer service was awful. The staff was rude to my mother and friends. I was told that they had no alteration appointments available until after my actual wedding day. I asked the girl scheduling the appointments ""Am I suppose to fly to my destination wedding without my dress?"" She snarled at me and said there was nothing she could do. Seven days before leaving for my wedding I still had no dress!!! STRESS STRESS STRESS is something a bride should not have to deal with but no thanks to the Wedding Shoppe that is all they have to offer. I will never recommend this horrible place to anyone and I will make sure many people hear about my awful experience. WCCO, KARE 11 and KSTP might want to do a story about this place warning all brides to not step foot into this place. Pros: Nothing Cons: Rude Staff, Severe Headaches and many tears shed shopping at this place. more

Ok dress selection, RUDE teen staff!! 8/13/2007

I will be getting married this september. I puchased both my wedding gown and the bridesmaids dresses from the wedding shoppe. When i went to buy the gown, i lucked out with the sales girl, angela. she was great and helped me pick out a great dress. She didn't rush me and was professional throughout the entire experience. I can't say as much for the rest of the staff. The customer service is terrible! They are rude, rude, rude. I had my alterations done there as well and Michelle in the alterations department is so cold and uncaring, she rushed me in and out both times i tried the dress on. I told her i was concerned with the dress rubbing a little on my arms (because it is lined with decorative beading) I asked if they could put some clear wax on the areas to prevent my skin from getting irritated. She simply said, ""we don't do that, you can just melt a candle on the areas yourself when you take the dress home"" WHAT? Melt candle wax on my Expensive wedding dress!!!! Angela, my gown sales girl was the one who told me the alterations department would be able to apply wax to it, and NOT to try it myself. From phone calls to appointments i have yet to feel welcomed into their store. Their front desk staff act like they are too good to say hello, or even acknowledge you. And when you finally get their attention, they act like you are an inconvenience. Sorry to burst the wedding shoppes bubble, but I AM THE CUSTOMER they should be thanking me for shopping at their store, not the other way around. They should be thanking each and every bride who still decideds to buy a dress there, after the horrible service they recieve, for keeping them in business!! And to the girls at the front desk, I know your generation sees saying ""thank you"" and ""hello"" as a sign of weakness or not cool, but for the rest of us it just plaine rude and unprofessional. I will not be recommending the wedding shoppe to anyone. Pros: Dress selection was ok Cons: RUDE UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF more

Great Shopping Experience!! 7/7/2007

I recentely visited this store after several reccommendations and had a great experience. I tried on about 25 gowns and ended up purchasing the second dress I tried on. My sales lady named Sharon was very helpful and gave me great suggestions of what looked good and what styles to avoid. I was able to find the dress of my dreams and still stay within my limited budget. I visited three bridal stores and definetely had the best exerience at this shop. I would reccommend this store to others looking for a personalized shopping experience. I am so HAPPY I found my dress!! Pros: Great Value and Selection, Nice Staff more

Unless you WANT your wedding dress ruined...DON'T SHOP HERE! 6/25/2007

I purchased my wedding dress from this store in 2004 for my June 2005 wedding. First of all, I went in with a friend on a Tuesday afternoon to look at dresses shortly after my husband proposed, and they gave me a hard time about not having an appointment. There was one other person in the store! That should have been my first clue about their service (or lack thereof). I came back a few months later (with, of course, an appointment) with my mother an a few of my bridesmaids on a Saturday afternoon. Unless you are looking to get a migrane, avoid this place on Saturdays at all costs! I tried on many, many dresses, and finally decided on a beautiful lace covered dress. I am very short, so I decided to pay the extra $150 for a hollow-to-hem measurement, and the gal helping me assured me that it would come in the exact length that I had ordered. WRONG. I got this dress 4 inches too long, and all they would tell me is ""well, our alterations dept. can fix that...I think a hem like yours will be around $300"" JUST FOR THE HEM! I refused (because it was supposed to be ordered the EXACT length I requested), asked for a full refund, and told them I would take my business elsewhere. They reluctantly got a manager involved, she was very nice and said that alterations would do it for free because of the mixup. So that was fine until I went to get the alterations done, they sold me a bra and slip for my dress THAT WERE USED! The slip was dingy on the inside, so it had obviously been worn, and the bra had pit stains in it. I asked for a refund, and again they refused! Another call to the manager and they were replaced with brand new ones. Not only that, but my dress had detachable spaghetti straps AND THEY LOST THEM! Lost part of my dress! And they said they could make new ones for me (for a price). This place is awful. I will never, ever let a friend or acquaintance shop here. The manager was nice but everyone else who works here is EXTREMELY RUDE! Pros: Large selection Cons: Rude service and poor business practices more

Wonderful Experience!! 6/5/2007

I am in the midst of planning my wedding and I am very glad that I came across the Wedding Shoppe on Grand. I purchased my bridesmaids dresses and Tuxes there and have had wonderful service. I am wearing my mother's wedding gown and initally had a hard time picking out bridesmaid and tux styles because my mom's dress is so vintage. The Wedding Shoppe helped me every step of the way and gave me great reccommendations on what would look good. I was very pleased with their overall experience and would highly reccommend their services to other couples. I worked with Carolyn in the bridesmaids Pros: Excellent Service and Selection Cons: Limited Parking more

Awesome Shopping Experience 5/20/2007

I recently went shopping for my wedding dress and came across a store on Grand Ave called the Wedding Shoppe. I really enjoyed my shopping experience. I worked with a girl named Cyndi in the bridal department and she was so wonderful. She really listened to what I was looking for and found me a dress that made me feel beautiful. I had been looking at two other stores and did not have much luck finding a style. I am so glad that I visited this store and would tell other brides to check them out. I also visited the bridesmaids deartment and worked with Erin. She had some great ideas about colors and styles that would look good on my 8 bridesmaids. Loved the store atmosphere and staff. Pros: Great Atmosphere, Nice Selection, Friendly Staff more

Rude Rude Rude 5/17/2007

Rude Rude Rude!!! that is all that I have to say! From the minute I walked in the door I felt they did not need me to buy a dress there! more

Love this Store 5/11/2007

I went to three different bridal shops in the twn cities and had the best luck at The Wedding Shoppe on Grand. Mara helped me pick my perfect gown and I loved her honesty and great taste. She helped me pick out a great style that worked on my body type. I can't say enough good things about this store. The staff is friendly and easy to work with. I also picked out my bridesmaid dresses and am working with the tuxedo area next. I would highly reccommend this store to other brides. Awesome experience!!!!! Pros: Great Service and Selection more

Amazing Service and Selection 4/17/2007

I've been to several bridal shops in the twin cities, six to be exact and was very pleased with my experience at the Wedding Shoppe on Grand. I worked with Cindy in the bridal department and found my perfect wedding dress. I had been looking for a very formal wedding dress for a black tie style wedding and she found exactly what I was looking for. She was very genuine in offering her opinions and suggestions and made my shopping experience stress free. I would highly reccommend this store! I also stopped in the bridesmaids department and worked with a woman named Carolyn. She was very informational and offered great suggestions on color and styles. I can't wait to take my bridesmaids shopping next. Great experience overall! Pros: Great Customer Service and Selection more

Take it or leave it 4/5/2007

I went to the wedding shop to purchace a bridal gown for my second wedding. I walked in and the staff was friendly and helpful. I found the dress I wanted and got it for half off. It was crowded and I don't know if I will use their alterations or go somewhere else. I bought my wedding dress from davidsbridal for my first wedding and it was a pretty good experience. You could take pictures and the prices were similar. I am happy with what I got but I don't recommend this store or not recommend it. You have to check it out for yourself. Pros: Alot to chose from Cons: All the strict rules and regulations more

Bad Customer Service, Bad Policies, Horrible on the weekends, tacky 3/22/2007

If I could tell brides one thing it would be... ""DON'T GO TO THE WEDDING SHOPPE"" Pros: Carry a variety of styles in different prices Cons: everything, worst place in the cities more

A Wonderful Shoppe!! 2/12/2007

I use citysearch all the time for reccomendations and I wanted to let other brides to be that The Wedding Shoppe on Grand is a faboulous place to shop. I thought the service was excellent and their selection was unbeatable. I have been to six other shops and had the best luck at the wedding shoppe. My sales girl (Cindi) helped me in the dresses and brought me great suggestions. I found my dress on the second one and absolutely LOVE IT!! I would highly reccommend this store to other brides. I also had good luck in their bridesmaids department. Greta was very informative and made it easy for my girls. It was a great experience! Pros: Great Service, Nice Selection more

Worst bridal service in town 2/7/2007

I felt like part of a cattle call when I arrived. A high school aged gal was managing the ?hostess stand? when I arrived and I was so put off when my initial welcome was more about ?when is your appointment? rather then ?Welcome to our overcrowded little shop.? I was taken upstairs to the bridal area where I met my best friend who was about to try on her first gown. She was full of bliss?this is one of the exciting elements of planning a wedding. Picking the dress with your mom and best friend is a delight. And my best friend had an appointment with the shop?s best ? I think her name was Cathy. My friend came out with dress after dress and I gave her an honest up and down vote on each one? love it, or it doesn?t flatter your figure. Cathy wanted to make a sale so bad and was clearly irritated when I compared her dresses to gowns we had tried on in other stores. Finally, Cathy pulled me aside and told me I needed to stop being so opinionated and let my friend pick her own dress? and she was not polite about it. I obliged and stopped giving my normal ?yes? and ?no? votes to the dresses, and as soon as we left the salon, my friend asked what happened when Cathy pulled me aside. I told her, and she was appalled. She decided not to use the shop for ANY of her wedding needs. Pros: many dresses (too many - it is crowded) Cons: terrible service more

I found exactly what I was looking for 1/21/2007

I had a great experience at this shoppe. After looking at many bridal shops, I found the perfect dress at the Wedding Shoppe. They had a great selection of destination wedding dresses and I found exactly what I was looking for. They gave me wonderful customer service and I am very glad I decided to visit this store. I found a dress that was within my budget that is beautiful. I cannot wait to wear my dress on the beach in Jamaica. I would highly reccommend this store to other brides to be. I have nothing but good things to say about this store. Pros: Great Selection, Friendly Staff more

I had a wonderful experience!! 1/14/2007

I thought I would write a review since I had such excellent service at The Wedding Shoppe on Grand. I have a May wedding and have been looking everywhere for my bridesmaid dresses and finally found them last week. The service in the bridesmaids department was really great. My sales girl helped me find the perfect dress for my girls in the color I wanted. The staff was professional, helpful and extremely friendly. I am so glad that I decided to go look there. I was very pleased!!! Pros: Loved every minute!! more

Typical of Bridal Shops, but I had a pleasant experience 1/13/2007

After reading these reviews, I decided to put in my two cents. They are typical of other shop reviews. As one who is scared off by bad reviews, I thought prospective brides should have my input. First of all, the parking is difficult, but it is in St. Paul so to be expected. Second, I did have to wait a while to register. My girlfriends and I (3 of us) had made appointments to try on bridesmaid dresses and wedding gowns. We drove up from Omaha where we had been to about 5 shops and hadn't really liked anything. I like to be left alone when I shop, but have staff available when I need it. I thought the help in the bridal section was much nicer than in the bridesmaid section. After I tried on a dress upstairs (bridal), the saleslady would ask if I liked it and try to find something that would be imilar or different based on my opinions. It's true that they don't have tags in the dresses (which is technically illegal), but after I bought a dress, I consulted ""Bridal Bargains,"" and they said that the brand I bought ran over $100 what I paid. Don't let them make you order a size up (I was 1/2 an inch off in the waist). I didn't listen to them, and my dress fit fine. Also, take a picture of the dress you choose. I was told that they had a picture of my dress, but it's one of Impressions' unadvertised lines, and they didn't. We were basically ignored downstairs in the bridesmaid section, but we went through the large selection of dresses with no problems. We found one that we liked that we couldn't have found in Omaha. However, we will buy them somewhere else to save money. I ordered my dress and had it sent to my parent's house in NH, and I didn't have any problems. I felt like I had to wait on the phone for a while each time I called, but it's not the big of a deal. I sent my best friend to inspect the dress before they shipped. I would recommend this place, although I have not had experience with the alternations department. Pros: good prices, good service upstairs (bridal), Cons: lines, had to wait on the phone more

Don't waste your time or money 1/2/2007

I had high hopes for the wedding shoppe and actually ended up getting my dress there. After the terrible service I received, I'm glad I didn't have it altered there. Had I not loved the dress, I would have gone somewhere else. I won't go into all the terrible details but I would definitely avoid this place. Beautiful dresses can be found at other stores and it isn't worth having a bad experience. Everything from the sales staff to the wait time to the overall experience did nothing to make me feel special or like a bride. Very disappointing. Pros: hard to say Cons: sales staff, wait time, small building, not service oriented more

Condesending, nasty alterations staff. 12/7/2006

The alterations staff is condesending, mean, rude and nasty. I don't get married every day. I don't know the ""rules"", so don't treat me like I'm stupid! Which is exactly what they did, the alterations lady with the short red hair and glasses nearly made me cry. Buy your dress here if you find a good deal, but do not buy anything esle from them. They will sell you the most expensive bra, slip, etc. Any they have a no returns policy if it ends up not working with your dress. more

Avoid this Wedding Shoppe 11/11/2006

If I could i would avoid the Wedding Shoppe in St. Paul if at all possible. It is complete chaos and I very rarely receive quality customer service. Calling the store is always an excruciating phone call of transfers and holding. There has to be a better way to train the employees to be more considerate and helpful on the phone as well as in the store. more
