Saban's Rent A Car

Wow. I went in, despite the negative reviews because any business can get negative reviews. I was truly hoping these negatives were all from uneducated people who just don't understand the world. Because my credit is bad, and my car needs a new engine, I was in a corner and took a leap of faith. I rented a weekly car for $129. I didn't have my insurance card on me, so I had my insurance fax them the proof. I put a $300 deposit down and told them that I may need to extend it another week. He said no problem. I asked if I'd need an additional deposit, and he said no. So, I called to get it extended, and they couldn't find my paperwork the first time, and he said he'd call me back when he found it. He didn't. I called back the next day, and they had the paperwork, and I successfully extended it another week. I just looked at my bank account, and they charged $245.85. Luckily I just got paid. So I called to find out what this was, and the man I spoke to was aggressive, defensive, and a complete feminine cleansing product. I work in customer service, and I would rate his skills on a scale of 1-10 at a negative 10. I hadn't even gotten my question out to him, and he was claiming I was telling him untruths. He basically said that the counter person I spoke to never told me the things I said he said. Now, as far as the car is concerned, it runs great. It's super comfortable, and it gets good gas mileage. The CD player is functional and clean, and all the little pieces work with the minor exception of the side mirror which needs to be adjusted from outside the car, because the internal mechanism is broken (very minor issue). The 1 star is simply for the really unprofessional billing practices and the mindblowingly horrible customer service. more

I am a travel nurse, not a schill and I had a good experience with Saban.....they may not be all talkative Yak yak yak like some people want,,,but they were all about business. I rented form them 3 different times. Took my truck to the desert and beat the crap out of it,,,they didnt bat an eye.\r Enterprise was freaking out about some little Palo Verde rub marks on the last truck i rented from them,,,,,,they come off as soon as you wash it, but they were trying to charge me for a paint job!\r I told Sabans right up front i was going off road and they said just take some fix a flat in case i got a flat way out there,,,lol\r So i think most people are having culture shock with them.... i am a very talkie talkie person and had to realize they are not.... \r I got a great price for weekend and monthly rental.\r Just see for yourself. more

Trust me, stay away from this company, if you know what's good for you. Recently rented from this company and what a mistake. I feel like a fool for trying to save a buck. First they had a shuttle driver pick my wife and I up at airport in a flashy Escalade, which seemed like a nice start, but is where the nice ended. They then took us to a dark fenced lot in a rather run down part of town and had me sign all the paper work before they showed me the car; most car rental lots do this anyway so I had no suspicions, yet. They pulled the car up and It was a trashed piece of junk, but it was late at night and we needed to get out of this scary place and to the hotel so we took it with intent on replacing it in the morning. The car they put me in was a 2004 Impala that stunk, with broken drivers seat and the engine was stalling. It had over 158000 miles, but the contract read 46000. It I ended up breaking down within the first 6 miles. When I called for assistance, no one was available to help. The following morning I called to explain my issue and the person who answered said the owner was in Florida, but they didn't know his name or number. I called again and this time he said he was the owner, I was an ass hole and didn't know how to operate a car. I left the broken down junker in a WalMart parking lot, called Hertz and ended up with a 2012 Chevy Cruze and the total cost for a week was actually less than Saban's. After all the problems I experienced they had the nerve to charge me $93.00 for less than 20 minutes use of this pile of crap. I contacted my bank and they reversed the charges; Yeah! more

Recently rented a car from Phoenix Car Rental also listed as A-Able Car Rental and Saban's Car Rental. They advertise no airport tax. We were never informed that all of the cars are used, and I mean used. They are very dirty.and in need of service. We returned the 1st car the following day because the tire went flat. The message on the dash said to check tire pressure. The 2nd car was hail damaged and had 4 different tires. The rim on one did not line up with the valve stem so a hole was punched in the rim to accomodate the valve. The message on the dash screen said oil change required soon. My advise is to pay the airport tax. Do not rent from this shady outfit. My rating is a -2 but there was not a catagory for negative. more

Obviously it's going to be a rinky dink place, hello its called ""Sabans Car Rental"" not Enterprise or whatever, you guys decided to go there instead of a real credible rental place. So aside from that, I didn't have that much of a problem from them. It was the only place I could find that would rent to under 21, so there was a charge for that and such. But I mean I could've gone to Avis to rent a car but it would have cost more than this place so I'm not complaining too much. The car I got was a Chevy Impala, smelled like smoke and it wasn't the cleanest, but hey! it wasn't that bad, I mean it was like I was driving a family members car or something. Apparently those that are giving bad reviews expected a freakin jaguar or something... Like seriously? Anyways, the car was decent; it ran. Got me to Cali and back, so I'm happy about that. The only con was that they charge WAAYYY more than they tell you on the phone, I was quoted 289 for the wek but ended up paying around 450. But hey! it was still cheaper than Avis which would have been around 600!!! I would go here again, I mean I didn't have any real problems, the people inside were somewhat friendly. Those complaining and saying they were getting yelled at probably were getting into arguments with the management over meaningless things... So anyways, this place is alright, go here if you want a somewhat cheaper than usual rental but expect a somewhat cheaper quality rental car. more

Stay away stay away please do yourself a favor and steer clear of this MAFIA run GOOD FELLAS type of energy and negative organization...the KARMIC energy here is super negative...the vehicles are basically not road worthy and very unsafe...WE rented a 16.95 local rental for 7 days. We had to return the vehicle because of completely ADOT illegal and unsafe at any speed cars. The selection is horrible. But the real threat is this mafia way the operation is run. We had to return the car after the first day because of its unsafe condition, they just put us in another unsafe car the next day..then the day the rental was to be returned at 5pm these Mafia guys showed up at our house at 10am and basically without calling or ringing the door bell basically stole the car..with all the car rental paper work in glove box. So they said our 340.00 deposit WOULD BE RETURNED if the key was returned. So when we showed up there was a long line of very upset customer being subjected to basic threats and complete MAFIA STYLE business hostility laced with all sorts of threats...The FAT HIT MAN behind the desk told us to shut up with our concerns...he illegally signed my signature of the acceptance of terms for final bill and just threw the unreadable receipt...then he says we owe him another 140.00 dollars...over and above the 340...with the actual rental was to be for only 129.00 per weeki...THIS IS ABSOLUTELY A MAFIA RUN OPERATION NO DOUBT...the guy in front of me got scammed to the tune of 200 dollars .and they told him hes get out...these guys give the GOOD PEOPLE OF PHOENIX a BAD name,,by also using the business name of PHOENIX CAR RENTAL...PLEASE STAY AWAY FOR YOUR OWNN SAFTY..I saw lots of nice people being threatened and ripped off then thrown out..every customer ended up paying way more than they had expected...ITS a MAFIA SCAM IN ALL REGARDS, more

This is by far the worst company i have ever went through apparently they think that in there country its ok to treat women like crap he screamed at me told me there was nothing to talk about and to get out i have been through 3 cars with them in 3 days and have to go back in the a.m because the car he gave me today has no power stearing or turn signals .. i agree about the FAT owner hes rude Filthy and a fraud artist i will be contacting an attorney and hope they get shut down!!!! by far the sh*tiestplace i have ever went through id rather pay a million dollars to enterprise then these fools at least there concerned and have a good sence of business customer service skills which this fat fool knows nothing about i shut off my bank card just so he couldnt continue to charge me anymore charges i may have lost out on 300 but by the time i walk out of that shi*hole tomorrow its going to be well worth it if he screams at me the way he did today i just might shove this piece of sh*t car he gave me staright up his fat as$!!! more

I wish I could rate them a negative 100!!! These people are extremely rude and down-right a$$holes!! If you rent from this (so-called) business, you've got it coming to you!! I was told one price at time of rental and a much higher price was charged at time of return. They say one thing and do another. If you call to question them on it, they will RIP YOU A NEW A$$HOLE!! Besides, their cars are complete JUNK and sound like a rattle trap driving down the road. I would NEVER rent another car from this hellhole of a business again if my life depended on it!!! I am surprised they are still in business and someone hasn't wiped them out!! ANY positive reviews on here MUST have been written by themselves!! Not real happy with my rental from last week. I rented an SUV and had to fill one of the tires up to the proper level the morning I after I rented the car. Then every time I unlocked the car the horn started beeping like I pushed the panic button, but there was no panic button as I did not have a key fob just a key. After I put the key in the ignition and turned it the horn stopped. The price I was quoted was $289 plus 20% taxes or $347. After the additional charges my final cost was $391. They told me there was a $12 charge each way to the airport that was not on their website or told to me when I called for a pick-up. They charged my credit card for $450 the day I picked up the car without telling me and when I called to find out about the difference in price ($450 vs the $391) I was told there will be a credit issued to my account. I will be checking daily to make sure. If not, I'm glad I put it on my credit card as I can dispute the charges. Beware of these guys. I will not be renting from them again. more

This place is run by sloppy little pig named Dennis Saban who refuses to do the right thing. This place even covers up numbers on the odometer so you can't tell the true milage.And if you do happen to rent a car hopefully you don't like music because all the speakers except one was blown in the car I had. And if that isn't enough when rental was returned kept all my money. Saban's Car Rental engages in shady, deceitful, sneaky and crafty practices. I was quoted a flat rate of $189.00 for a car I rented in Phoenix for a vacation trip to Sedona. I only needed the car for four days and told them I would return the car on Friday. The Agent told me that the price was the same for a week and that I could keep the car until Monday. I thought ""cool"" . . . signed the contract for $189.00, and I gave them my debit card for that amount.\r Saban's charged my account $400.00 without informing me in advance. This was particularly upsetting because when I went to an ATM for some cash in Sedona, their $400 charge reduced my available balance and I nearly ran out of money.\r Rather than keeping the car until Monday, I returned it on Friday as I said because my word is good with or without a contract. I asked the Car Rental Agent why they charged my account $400.00 instead of $189.00? He said, ""Well, we have to get paid"". I replied, ""Well, I paid you $189.00."" I could have lived with a ""We need a deposit,"" or ""I'm sorry we didn't mention that,"" but his indifference was callous, mean and uncaring.\r The Car Rental Agent took my pink copy of the contract, tucked it away, and gave me back a yellow copy that had my original signature with 5 new charges to the pre-signed contact to the tune of $100.00.\r I asked what this $15.00 charge was for. He replied, ""An additional driver fee."" I told him that such a fee was never disclosed when I rented the car. ""Oh well, that's what it's for,"" he said. I HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! ON SATURDAY I WENT THERE TO RENT A CAR SINCE IM NOT 21 AND CAN RENT FROM ENTERPRISE. I WAS DRIVING TO YUMA ON JUST SUNDAY MORNING AND COMING BACK SUNDAY NIGHT. I RENTED THE CAR UNTIL TUESDAY BECAUSE MY CAR WAS GETTING FIXED. MY COUSIN TOOK ME TO GET THIS CAR AND THEY TOLD US THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE $249 AND BEFORE I SIGNED THE PAPER AGREEING TO IT, I READ THROUGHT IT AND ASKED HIM ABOUT THE FEES AND HE TELLS ME THEIR INCLUDED IN THE $249!!!!!! THEN WHEN HE FIRST QUOTED ME THIS PRICE OVER PHONE HE TELLS ME THERES A $350 DEPOSIT. WHEN I GOT THERE HE TOOK MY CARD AND RAN IT AND THEN I SAY HOW MUCH DID U RUN IT FOR AND HE SAYS $400 AND I SAID U TOLD ME $350 AND HE STRUGGS HIS SHOULDERS. WE WENT TO THE ONE ON INDIANSCHOOL AND PICKED UP A VAN, DIDNT REALIZED THEIR SEAT BEALTS WERENT WORKING PROPERLY UNTIL WE GOT TO THE HOUSE TO LOAD UP THE VAN. I CALLED AND TOLD THEM IF WE COULD EXCHANGE IT FOR A DIFFERENT ONE AND THEY SAID OK. BUT INSTEAD OF GOING TO THE ONE ON INDIANSCHOOL WE WENT TO THE ONE ON 29ST AND MCDOWELL AND GOT A DIFFERENT VAN. THE VAN WAS DOING GREAT ON OUR WAY TO CALIFORINA UNTIL SUNDAY MORNING WE WENT TO MCDONALDS AND AS WE WERE GETTING READY TO LEAVE THE VAN DIDNT WANT TO START. I CALLED THEM AND I WAS PUT ON HOLD WITHOUT EVEN TELLING ME TO HOLD SO I WAS BASICALLY TALKING TO MYSELF. I HUNG UP AND CALLED BACK, THEY ANSWERED BUT HUNG UP ON ME. I CALLED BACK AND HE SAYS TO HOLD ON, UGH I WAS VERY ANGRY AT THIS MOMENT. WHEN HE COMES BACK I TELL HIM WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND HE SAYS TO CALL BACK IN 15 MIN. OH THEN I WAS REALLY PISSED OFF BECAUSE WE HAD A FEW LIL ONES WITH US AND THEY WERE CRANKY AND CRYING BECAUSE IT WAS HOT. THANK GOD MY BROTHER FIXED IT AND GOT IT TO START. SO MONDAY MORNING WE ARE GETTING READY TO COME BACK TO PHOENIX SO MY BROTHER CHECKS THE VAN, EVERYTHING LOOKS FINE. AS WE GET INTO INDIO THE VAN STARTS TO OVERHEAT, SO WE PULL OVER AND LET IT COOL DOWN. SO WE GET BACK INTO THE ROAD AFTER 30MIN, WITHOUT THE A/C. LET ME REMIND YOU THAT WE HAVE A 2,3,5,AND A 10 YR OLD. IT WAS TOO HOT FOR THEM SO WE HAD TO KEEP TURNING OFF AND ON THE AC. IT WAS HORRIBLE. MY MOM AND I TOOK THE VAN BACK TO THEM ON TUESDAY MORNING AND WE TOLD THEM WE HAD THE WORST TRIP EVER AND THEY DIDN'Y CARE HOW MUCH WE AND THE KIDS SUFFURED WHEN WE HAD TO DRIVE WITHOUT THE A/C. THEY DIDN'T GIVE US A DISCOUT BUT CHARGED MY MOM $700.00, WHEN THEY SAID IT WAS ONLY GONNA B $449.00 PLUS $10.95 A DAY FOR INSURANCE WHICH WE THOUGHT IT COME OUT TO ABOUT $500.00. This past April 2011, my friend and I, both 'little ole ladies' in our 70s, rented a car from Saban's in Phoenix, for a two week stay in the Sedona AZ area, a two hour drive from Phoenix. We planned to do a lot of driving and expected a car worthy of this long trip. No inspection of the car was made before we drove away from the lot, which was surprising to us. As the driver, I noticed that the steering wheel was filthy black with scum and the interior of the car, especially under the seats was not clean. After having been on the road for a few days, we noticed that the dashboard light indicating low tire pressure came on. A fellow at a tire store told me that the right front tire needed to be replaced and even I could see that it was quite worn. When I told him that it was a rental car, all he did was fill the tire with air. This continued for several days until we were having to fill the tire nearly every day. At this point, my friend, who had rented the car, got permission from the company to purchase a new tire, which we did. Upon inspecting the old tire, we discovered two huge repairs already in the tire, which were leaking! When we returned the car to the company at the conclusion of our trip, the manager had NO remorse or sympathy for us, telling us that their company rents only beaters and yet my friend had had no such knowledge beforehand. In the process of telling the manager of our experience and questioning the lack of concern for the safety of the vehicle and passengers, he essentially called me a liar and proceeded to tell me of the huge amount of business they have and that our complaints were not worthy of their notice! So, like the title is, BEWARE of this company! You will get what you pay for. Spend a bit more money and get a safe car.......and let me tell you we were really glad we had a bunch of Angels taking care of us, cuz the company sure wasn't! more

Everyone that has used this company and been had as I was with trumped up charges. I know I asked all the right questions and received all the right answers. I am not a novice at this as I traveled for my own business for 5 years. I could have rented from Fox at the airport for the month $800 and you get a nice newer car with unlimited miles with Fox or Advantage. Need no credit card at fox or Advantage. I actually could have had a car with Hertz in Scottsdale for 647 for the month which included all taxes and fees. This place quoted me $499 and charged me $800 with bogus fees.\r \r I have turned them into the Attorney General and suggest everyone else that has been had do the same. They need to be fined and put out of business. They rent unsafe damaged cars for way more than their worth! \r \r The guys at the drop off location at the airport told me good luck and watch your card they like to charge you extra for nothing. How sad that the airport shuttle guys already know what a horrible business Sabians / Phoenix car rental run. They go by both names. more

My experience was good. They take cash and let you drive out of state with the cars. Took a trip to Disneyland with the family. Had fun and car ran great. Price was okay more

I can't give them no stars or I would. They didn't disclose verbally that they were charging me insurance that was more than the rental. This made the piece of junk I drove far more expensive than average and I had to exchange cars just to get one that ran! The charge was on the paperwork so it was partially my fault for not understanding but when I asked they did not give me accurate information. Please do NOT make the same mistake I did unless you have no other choice but figure on more than double the cost they tell you!!!!! more

WARNING WARNING WARNING This place is tied to Phoenix Rent a car, if you get there and you see Sabans run do not stop. They prey on taking advantage on young kids 21 years and younger and everyone else. The manager is name Pete and they have a female accountant that will handle your disputes. The problem is she will not work with you. Both of these people are rude and mean. Here is what happen. I as a father of two sons called a month in advance and reserved a impala for a total of $249 for five days to include tax. They love to get you on hidden charges watch out!!!They said once my sons get to the airport they would be picked up. This was the beging of our nightmare( do not trust there ad about being under 21 or 18 they will lie to you). They never picked them up but promised to give them there 20 dollars back if they take a taxie, never happened. To make a long story short by the time they returned the car my son credit card was charged twice but the price was 480.00 x two with out approval a total of $960.00. This caused bank checks to bounce and it took several days to clear up. Pete and the lady accountant would not talk to me and yelled at my son and them hanged up on him. Finally the charged the 480 and the cost of the taxie, a total 500 dollars, twice as much than what was agreed on. My sons are hard working and had to use all there vacation money to be charged by these crooks. Again the web site is great dont belive it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they will rip you off. They should be arrested and ran out of pheonix Arizona. more
