Skip the cheapo places and splurge for a great cut 6/8/2009

I visited Dolce Salon and Spa a few months ago (Feb?) and became a convert within 10 minutes. Being pretty much just out of college and therefore extremely strapped for cash, I've been forced to go to budget salons (Fantastic Sam's, Great Clips, etc..) for always was turned into inevitably crappy cuts. Though their prices were more in my affordability range, I can't remember a time I left feeling good about how I looked--many of those visits ended in tears streaming down my face on the drive home--but still I went because what choice did I have? Until one visit a few months back. I again went to some cheap place and instead of getting the so-so haircut I expected, I WAS MASSACRED! It literally looked like someone took a weedwhipper to my head. I asked for a simple trim (I have straight-wavy shoulder-length hair---scratch that HAD shoulder-length hair) and somehow ended up with one side just below the chin and the other side almost ear-lobe short! When I pointed out the difference for fixing, he further lobbed off THE SHORTER SIDE TO BEGIN WITH. So now there was literally a 4 inch disparity. And the stylist was so dense or apathetic (or both) he just grunted and shrugged. I left in a fury. And after lots of crying and shouting, I decided it was time to upgrade, regardless of the costs. That same day, I made a reservation with Mila at Dolce near the Chandler Fashion Square and by the end of my hair-fix appt, I vowed to never skimp when it came to my locks. After filling her in on my hair drama for the day (though I barely had to--she's not blind!) she soothingly assured me that by the end of the appt, I would leave with a great haircut that would work with my hair type and face shape. And she was right--thank goodness. You can imagine my reluctance for anyone going near by my head, but her easy-going ability to girl-talk and humor kept me looking at the bright side. Although overall, I basically lost 6 inches and maybe a year and a half of hair growth, I left looking glamorous and sassy. Next time I will definitely cut to the chase and allot a little extra money for the 'beauty fund' and book with Mila. Pros: great service, nice people Cons: not the cheapest, but def worth it more

Excellent Experience 6/7/2009

Per advice from my wife, I visited Dolce Salon in Chandler for the first time on 6/5. I have been growing my hair out to change my style a little, as I always had really short hair. My hair needed some help to say the least and my hair stylist at Dolce was amazing at giving some style to my hair. I am so happy with the experience and the salon that I definitely will be back for my next hair cut. I was really impressed with the whole experience. Pros: Great Sylist more

Loved Casey! 6/7/2009

I saw Casey for my brow and lip wax at Dolce Chandler. When I first arrived there was a bit of a line and a wait to check in, but shortly after another representative arrived and the line went a lot quicker. Casey was very professional and an expert. She gave me advice on ways we can work to improve the look of my brows. I was very pleased. I'm glad you guys have been doing summer and fall special pricing on some services. Some things are a bit pricey, so it gives some relief...in this economy.\r Michelle Pishkur Pros: Experts more

Love Dolce Salon & Spa in Chandler 6/6/2009

I had a wonderful visit on 1/3/10 at the Chandler Dolce Salon & Spa. I had a manicure and loved my nail technician. I rarely get a manicure, but it was well worth the money. I love coming to Dolce because of the relaxing atmosphere and fun personalities. My nail technician was a treat and I'll definitely be back. I left the salon feeling rested and nails looked fantastic. I had such a great time that I will be returning real soon, hopefully will try a facial next time. Dolce has a committed patron for as long as there's a Dolce salon nearby. Pros: Great Spa!!! more

Excellent Customer Service 6/4/2009

I am so happy to finally find the hair stylist that I have spent the last year looking for. We moved to Chandler 1 year ago, leaving behind a beloved hairstylist. After visitng Dolce today, I believe that I have found a stylist that I can stay with for many years. Abby did a phenomenal job. She truly listened to what I wanted done with my hair and actually accomplished just that. She was very attentive and easy to talk to. All of the staff was very accomodating and made me feel like I was the only the customer in the salon. Kudos Dolce on a job well done! Pros: Attentive and Professional Cons: A little expensive more

I had my last haircut with Celia at Dolce Salon at The Borgata. As always she did a fabulous job, was incredibly friendly and knows what she is doing!! I'd definately recommend going to see her, and just the salon in general because they treat you the way you deserve to be treated!! Pros: Great services, excellent quality Cons: Can get pricy more

EX-Customer 12/23/2008

The WORST Service 12/11/2008

On December 5th I called Dolce Spa and purchased a gift certificate for my girlfriend's birthday .I was specifically told that the certificate would be mailed the next day since my girlfriend's birthday was December 9th. (my girlfriend lives just right down the street so it is a one day mailing)\r I was out of the country so late on the evening of the 9th, my girlfriend very upset told me that I was absent minded of giving her a birthday present..(THIS IS A NICE WAY OF PUTTING IT!).\r I called Dolce to tell them she did not receive the certificate. The Dolce rep told me I should not have purchased the certificate so close to the birthdate! Imagine that!!\r Only after being insistent did she do the research and found the certificate did not get mailed out till the 9th of December!\r No apology was given and only a cold statement that it should arrive in the next day or so.\r There is no excuse for the rudeness and lack of customer service that Dolce exhibited.\r I left both a voice mail message to the manager of the store as well as an email to the president of Dolce and no response has been given.\r My advice...you have been warned, tread carefully when wanting to be pampered by cold callous Dolce employees. Pros: none!!!!!!!! Cons: the worst service you will ever experience! more

Trying to be all things to all people and falling way short! 11/10/2008

I went to Dolce for over 5 years. In that time, the salon, its' service and quality have plummeted dramatically. You can only getting an appointment by speaking to their rude call center staff (if you can even get through). I was even hung up on once after waiting 15 minutes on the line. I received a facial at the spa that burned my skin and caused my entire face to peel. I went in for a wrap before my wedding and was left 25 minutes in the room uncomfortable and sweating myself to death. The spa person told me that she would leave me to relax instead of massaging my hands and feet because I was getting a massage after. I had to unravel myself from the wrap! I have never been so uncomforable in my life. If you are expecting the usual vichy shower, you can forget it! They make you go shower in between.\r If Dolce concentrated half as hard on their service and clients as they did their decore and basketball size court salons, then perhaps it could once again be a success as it once was. Dolce has become the Cheesecake Factory of Salons. Offer a million items on the menu, but not be exceptional or even up to par in any of the offerings. They need ot get back to basics instead of trying to be a salon, spa, med spa, event location, etc. It is a real disappointment and I would recommend going elsewhere. Not to mention the prices for hair services have become ridiculous if you want a stylist that has a clue what they are doing. Sorry Dolce but bigger and more is not better! more

Less fun than a jab in the eye with a hot poker 10/24/2008

I've been going to Dolce since it opened and recently the place has gone so far downhill I dont even recognize it anymore. The once tidy check in area has been replaced with a cheap flea market full of vending machine plastic junk. The once competent stylists have now all been fired or fled like vermin from a sinking ship. The once adequate clerks and support staff have now been replaced with reject zombies from night of the living dead. I booked an appointment recently making sure to state I wanted a particular stylist and suddenly when I show up that stylus has been ""fired"". I wasn't too happy about this, and neither was the replacement stylus they stuck me with because she was rude to me the whole time, acting like I was wasting her time. Previously I had visited with my mother after getting her a gift certificate for an hour massage and chocolate pedicure and they basically stole from us unapologetically. We arrived early but the dolt of a check in clerk never alerted the masseuse so we sat waiting for 30 min only to be chided by the masseuse for being late and then only given a 30 min massage. After that she got a regular pedicure instead of the chocolate one we booked and paid for. Since the services were pre-paid there was really nothing we could do and no one in the place offered to compensate us for services not received or even apologized. This place is bad news, better to give your money to another local salon that's actually trying to do honest work. Pros: None Anymore Cons: Rude, Dishonest, Incompetent, Untidy, Unfriendly, Unapologetic more

Bad place, bad ethics, greedy 10/11/2008

Believe the bad, ignore the good. You may get an experienced stylist that is fantastic, but make no mistake that it's about selling selling selling, whether you need it or not. Turnover is high because they hire every 5 weeks. Why is this? Dolce depends on assistants. They hire them and when they are ready for to be a stylist, they fire them, or they wait and let them be a stylist for a while until someone more 'moldable' comes along. This is why the staff is right out of school. If they kept everyone they hired they would need another ten salons. They use them to be assistants and get rid of those with a mind of their own. It's bad. I've heard it called a cult, I wouldn't go that far, but it's close. Impersonal....yes. You are being talked about from the moment you step in the salon. There may even be nasty notes about you on your computer records. You better tip well and not be fat, frumpy, ugly, or anything else that may create something to gossip about. The assistants are probably the best part about the salon. They haven't had time to be corrupted yet. Cons: bad business practices more

Great Staff, Horrible Owner 9/13/2008

Service is great, the workers are highly trained and know what they're doing. However, the owner likes to cheat her employess. Drop in pays, and termination of the best workers is what she's all about. Greed is a major factor in her life, and she'd rather herself make the money, and get rid of the people that do make the money for the salon. \r \r Pros: Staff Cons: Owner is lazy, and self centered more

Best massage in town... Great energy!! 7/14/2008

I am still in a euphoric haze after my recent massage at Dolce's Arrowhead location. We recently moved to the west side from Gilbert. I would frequent the Chandler location I was satisfied with their service so I decided to try their new location. I arrived 20 minutes early to complete paperwork. Once I was escorted upstairs to their beautiful relaxation room, I was greeted (early) by the massage therapist (Kenya). She was very warm and friendly from the start and did a very thorough consultation. The flow and energy of the massage was AMAZING!!! The draping was impeccable, I felt completely secure and it was very smooth. No jerky movements. Extra attention was paid to every area I mentioned during my consultation. I still feel the effects days later. I am bringing my husband with me next time but Kenya I will keep for myself. Very Impressive! Pros: Great Therapist Cons: Lengthy check out more

Overpriced for what you get 6/8/2008

I've been to Dolce a few times for different things, but last month was the first time I had my hair colored there. I will say that I absolutely love the color. However, I don't think I got the service I payed for. I payed for the top level colorist and she was very nice, but she only put about half the color on herself and had some other girl help her with the rest. The other girl finished me off by washing and styling my hair. Had I known the colorist was only going to spend about 20 minutes with me, I would not have shelled out all that money. I will not be going back there to have my hair done again. more

Best Salon and Spa I have ever been to! 5/23/2008

Dolce is amazing, I go all the time and so does my whole family. The newer locations don't have the lines chandler does, so if you care about that try scottsdale or peoria. They are all great and so pretty! Pros: atmosphere, people, services, products, hours Cons: lines at chandler one more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! 5/10/2008

My daughter had her hair colored there by a level 4 stylist and it turned out completely different from what she asked for. When I called to schedule a redo, the person on the phone was extremely rude, and I had to talk to a manager to get the redo scheduled. We arrived for the redo 10 minutes late, and they refused to do her hair. Not only that, but the girl at the counter said even if we had been on time, they wouldn't have been able to do her hair because it wasn't entered in the computer correctly what my daughter wanted done to her hair. The people there are extremely rude.........don't go there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\r Cons: Rude employees more

Did Not Feel Special AT ALL 4/7/2008

I had the most unpleasant experience today at Dolce. I believe you get what you pay for and so I'm used to spending money on my hair. but in exchange I have some expectations. in the past, salons have offered me beverages (including wine) and have given me extra services while my color processed (like hand massages, neck massages, foot soaks, etc.) because I'm a busy mom, I arrived 10 minutes late for my appointment today and immediately got an attitude from the stylist. I offered to reschedule, but she said that I would be charged for a cancellation. I asked for coffee, which was met with a reaction like I asked for plutonium. so I got my own coffee and sat in silence (reading) the entire time. usually, stylists are friendly... not at this place. she had another (less experienced) stylist help her apply color and style my hair, but I was still charged the ""level 3 stylist"" rate and then some. \r I also brought in some items for a fundraiser they are having and in return I rec'd a $25 gift certificate. so I asked to apply it to my service today and was told that it was for a future service. I replied that my experience was unpleasant and I would not be returning. so (after asking special permission) she applied it. I've experienced MANY salons in a few states and can honestly say this one DOES NOT live up to the hype what-so-ever. as a mom on a budget, spending time at the salon is a treat for me and this one was far from that. \r Pros: decent parking Cons: everything else more

Beware of Dolce Salon and Spa 4/7/2008

This was my 4th visit to Dolce Salons for a haircut. I was given a new stylist with an ""expert"" rating. I asked her to trim my hair about an inch. She faced me away from the mirror and when I turned around, my past my shoulder length hair was now an inch below my ears. My left side was a full inch shorter than my right side and you could see on the back of my head where it started to get longer in a slant. I refused to pay for the cut. Dolce said to pay for it now and the next one would be complimentary. I refused and they told me to find another salon go to. I never spoke to a manager and when I called back a few days later and asked to set up an appointment so a manager could see my hair, I was told that they didn't want to see my hair and again I was told me to go to another salon. Saturday I went to another salon and it took the stylist a full hour to fix my hair. It now looks great! What ever happened to customer service? Dolce didn't want to fix my hair they just wanted my money! Beware of Dolce. You could be next. Pros: by the mall Cons: overpriced talent and non caring management more
