We have been taking our pets to Old Marple for almost 7 yrs now and have always been treated kindly and respectfully. We usually use Dr. Wordley or Dr. Fitzgibbon and the office ...

I was a client for my 2 dogs at Old Marple for about 2 years before I left. The prices are high, but I was willing to pay because of the 24 hr emergency service they offered. Be...

You can't have everything 11/19/2007

I've been a client for almost 20 years, and yes, they have changed. Although the front desk staff has always been surley, the techs and doctors are good and efficient. I recently took in a stray that had had six kittens. I priced around for spaying and they came in at $150 vs $400-$500 ataa lot of other places. If you want a small, warm and fuzzy vet, you're going to pay a high price and they're not going to do emergencies. more

Every hospital has it's issues. 11/13/2007

I love Old Marple. It's really a lot better then most of the places around here. I've heard more horror stories about the place next to the Wawa on Landsdowne Ave. We brought our dog To Old Marple to get his hip operated on AND to get him fixed. We had no problems, his wound healed perfectly and they even brought him back for physical therapy (at a very MINIMAL cost). He actually was very fond of the Dr. he had there, Dr. Neigermier (I totally butchered that). I actually just called in to ask a question about my guinea pigs but it's emergency hours and no one who would know that information is available. The woman who answered the call seemed very tired but not rude at all. I've never had a problem with Old Marple. I recommend it. You just have to know which doctors and surgeons to take your pets to. Get to know them; that's what a good pet owner would do. more

Find another Vet! 11/9/2007

I gave up on Old Marple years ago.I will never forget my pets nor my experience with\r these people. They had a great vet there who cared about my dog, but he left their practice.\r Before he left ,he told me "These people are brutal".I should have listened.THEY ARE ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.Also I hope the person who ran the front desk is dead.He should have been assigned to cleaning the kennel. They could not find a worm in your dogs stool if it crawled up their nose. more

Get some Sense- Old Marple is the Best 10/16/2007

All these bad reviews are quite frankly ridiculous. Now given, some are of importance and I agree with, but as for the "all they want is to take your money and pretend like they care for your animal" is crap. Do you realize how big this business is? They have A LOT of emergencies they come in every day, youre not the only client that is to be helped! Get that straight first. They try and help your pet the best they can. And as for the front desk people- they are far from rude. They try their best to keep you happy, but if you try their patience, who wouldnt get somewhat aggigated? No one has all the answers to everything. Be patient and soon you will get what you need. The doctors are incredibly busy-- no the world does not stop just so you can get your questions answered by the doctor. You'll have to wait your turn. This vet hospital works just like a regular hospital, you can not come in as an emergency and leave to "get some lunch" or "go home and the vet can call you when hes re more

Love them 9/14/2007

I have no problem with bad reviews except I cannot write one about this wonderful place. \r First of all I am a nurse and medical professionals do make mistakes. No one is perfect. \r I have had nothing but wonderful experiences here and especially after I had to put my 14 year old dog down a few months ago. The staff are SO NICE on the phone. You can ask them anything and they are so polite. \r If you need to get your pet in ASAP they try to accomodate you. \r I never bought my food there and can say I never had to wait longer than 20 mins for my appointment. Seeing that 2 dogs came in on stretchers I realized it was emergencies that put them behind the one day we were there. \r My dog was on medication and we boarded her there many times - she was a hospital board and I always felt they took very good care of her. \r It's a busy place so they must be doing something right. I have another friend who feels the same way about them. Nothing but nice things to say. So if you have one bad visit more

The Worst Experience of my Life 9/4/2007

This was my first experience with a vet when we got our puppy, Allie. We took her every two weeks to Marple Vet because they kept saying she had Demodex. We did this for almost 5 months and allie kept getting worse and worse and worse. After 23 medications, including pain killers and bovine antibiotics, she was finally diagnosed with systematic leukemia...then we tried to put her down and they told us we were bad dog owners and should sign her over to the SPCA....never mind that they took so long to diagnose her, she was yelping from constant pain and couldn't control her bladder. I HATE this vet practice with a PASSION and would picket outside the vet if I didnt' have a full time job - that's how much I want to warn people NEVER to go to them. They are all about the money and hide behind, "we want what is best for the animal" to keep you coming back for months spending thousands for an untreatable illness. more

NOT HAPPY WITH THEM! 8/31/2007

I took my 10mth puppy to be neutered. That went well, but a week later he had MAJOR swelling in that area. We took him back & was told it was "normal". Took him back AGAIN the next day ( the swelling got worse) & was again, told it's "normal". Two days later, had to go back AGAIN for the 3rd time, b/c the area enlarged to the size of a SOFTBALL , was seeping & now had an open wound. They still told me this was "normal", but it was clear at this point that there was an infection & had to be cleared up. Well, HELLO!!! I could have told you that!!! NOW they want to do more surgery to remove the excess skin!!! 1st we have to have the pup on meds for 2wks then check it out. This should have been taken care of from day 1!!! Not a week later!!!! I believe the only reason they did anything was b/c I went there & refused to leave until they did something. Of course on top of the 1st bill, I have to keep paying more money to bring my pup back to get better. And now, they want even more money to more

Don't expect much... 8/25/2007

One of the few places in the area that does exotics... didn't mind the half-hour drive since no local places cover turtles. They were originally chosen because of a recommendation by a local SPCA.\r \r Came in with two turtles who weren't eating. First test showed a case of worms and I was given Panacur to help rid myself of the problem. Was told by technician and doctor to administer one drop per day. Was charged $6 and didn't receive enough of the stuff to even cover the bottom of the bottle. Called 4 times over a period of 6 days before receiving a call back to see how they were doing. When the doctor realized nothing was getting better, was recommended another doctor.\r \r Second doctor put through a more expensive test and prescribed something different... told me to call back a few days afterward for follow-up. Sure enough, when I did and requested a call-back, I NEVER received a follow-up call despite 3 messages left over a 2-day period.\r \r One of the turtles never got better. The more

Not happy with Old Marple 8/7/2007

Like some of the other reviewers, I too have had a bad experience with Old Marple. My husband found what he thought were worms in our dog's stools. He called Old Marple and they said to bring in a sample. He dropped it off and they said they would call us. This was around 7 pm so we waited until the next morning to call. When he called, the women who answered the phone said they hadn't found anything in the stool sample. My husband asked how this could be when he saw it with his own eyes, as did my 3 year old. They kept saying they could see nothing when they looked at the sample under the microscope and my husband again said that did not make sense since he could see them without a microscope. When pressed and after my husband described the worms again, the person on the other end said "oh well then it sounds like tapeworm". Oh really? 5 minutes ago you said you didn't find anything at all. The women said she would have the vet take a look. Silly me, I was under the impres more

5 STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVE READ THESE HORRIBLE THINGS 8/3/2007

Well, let me start by saying that, seriously, with absolutely no doubt whatsoever, this is the best Animal Hospital I had the PLEASURE and LUCK to find in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to take my English cocker spaniel to "Society Hill" in Philadelphia (extremely expensive), and then, to "Penn Vet" from the University of Pennsylvania and neither one of them comes even CLOSE to Old Marple Vet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, I've seen many doctors there in emergency cases and ONLY if my favorite, beloved, very responsible, loving and knowledgeable Dr. Beth Henry is not available for whatever reason. Dr. Beth Henry LOVES animals and CARES ABOUT THEM AND ABOUT US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She worries about our bills and ALWAYS does only the tests that are really necessary to be done. She only moves for more tests if the ones already performed were not satisfactory for the diagnosis. My English cocker spaniel had lung cancer and, unfortunately, died last year, having Dr.Be more

No heart 7/16/2007

I switched from Old Marple after several bad experiences. I talked to the owner about one of them and he wasn't even moved by my\r horrible experience with one of his so called vet dr. I pay more where I am now but the people there are great, personable and love my animals. They are all about the money at Old Marple - I told anyone who would listen after my last bad experience and believe me, many people told me they, too, had bad luck with them.\r Too bad - they suck - I wouldn't take a fly there.\r I give it NO stars! more
