Love Them! 3/18/2009

Just took my labradoodle puppy in for his first check-up and had Dr. Jennifer Shelley. she was fantastic and gave us all of the information we needed, answered our questions and loved on our pup the entire time. we were with her talking and checking out our puppy who is perfect for an entire hour! so great.\r \r on top of this--a ton of the vets graduated from UPenn's vet school. top notch!\r \r we're definitely going to keep going here and requesting Dr. Jennifer! more

Love Them! 3/18/2009

Excellent Veterinary Hospital! 1/31/2009

I recently took my ailing dog to this hospital's emergency ward in the middle of the night. The staff and especially the attending vet were totally professional and competent. The vet correctly diagnosed my dog's condition (cancer) and I wound up having to put her down that night - a thoroughly traumatic experience, but one which was much mitigated by the competence, compassion and professionalism of the vet. I, and my fiance, have had many dealings with the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Hospital, and they are also extremely competent and professional. But they are also at least twice as expensive as Old Marple; in some cases many times more expensive. Despite it's small size in comparison to Penn, we found the service we received at Old Marple to be more than satisfactory. I can't speak for others' experiences here, but for our part, after many years of pet ownership and dealings with many vets and animal hospitals in this area, we can say that that our experience with the eme more

This Vet Hospital saved my dog's life - I am very impressed with the place 12/1/2008

Obviously different people have different experiences - I can only speak for my own really good experience.\r \r My 12 year old dog got really sick on Saturday night - by Sunday morning he was passing only blood and could not walk at all. Old Marple is not my regular vet, but since our vet did not have emergency services and it was Sunday a.m. we decided to go to their emergency.\r Our dog was very close to dead when we showed up, they took immediate action to bring his vitals up so they could even diagnose his problem. The vet was VERY forthcoming about the dangers and costs for procedures for this 12 year old dog - did not try to talk us into any procedures, just told us the facts. The vet was very professional, and caring at the same time.\r When it was discovered his spleen had to be removed due to a burst tumor, and we okayed the surgery, it was performed very quickly. They sent us home and said they would call after the surgery, and sure enough, we got a call 2 hours later about h more

after reading some of the reviews i was kind of scared to take my cat here but to many people said they were good and they were right..i got calls every day from them with updates and they tried their best to explain to me what they found so i would understand it..people at the front desk were ok and helpfull..i had doctor lyons and even if my cat was scared he took the time to handle him with care and not just grab him to keep him still..even if my cat was very ready to leave there after 3 days he got the best care while there..and a person sat with me and went over each thing i needed to do when i got him home..i thank them and "tard" thanks them.. more

Amazing Vet Hospital... 8/15/2008

I have two stories to share, a number of years separating each.\r \r Back in the early 90s, my family had a cat that had severely dislocated her left rear leg and we were told by multiple other places that there was no way to repare the joint, and that it would either simply keep dislocating, or we would need to remove the leg. Old Marple took one look and told us of a new procedure that removed the ball of the femur (leg bone) and that they'd had great success with the new procedure. Long story short, it worked great and the cat went on to live a happy healthy 8 years after the surgery with abosolutely 0 mobilitiy problems.\r \r The second story is when my Golden retriever suffered a double compound fracture of his lower jaw bone. Needless to say, my wife and I were quite freaked out when it happened, but Old Marple handled the injury and my wife and I in stride like the consummate professionals that they are. All told, Anestesia for XRays and two surgeries, the two surgeries (by a vi more

They may be good for emergencies but not for routine visits. Way over priced and screwed up on my kitten's shots. Very scary.\r I was told by the vet and the person at the front desk. This was in May and if I did not call them I would have never known. They also quote one price and then when your done it end up costing more. Not good for someone who lives paycheck to paycheck. more

You need to know who to ask for! 7/9/2008

I had a really bad experience with bringing my new 3 month old puppy there. She needed her puppy shots and I did not request anyone in particular. I ended up getting this girl who did not know the first thing about giving shots. My puppy did not like to sit still on the table and the girl did not try to make her feel at home like other vets there do. She was so frustrated with my puppy moving around, she made the comment "I'm not sure how I am going to do this". What?! You are supposed to know how to give a simple shot. Not all dogs sit super still. How the hell did she get the job if she can't do simple things like give a shot? So, she struggled then never pierced my pup's skin and instead squirted the shot all over her neck. I knew something was wrong when my pup did not cry. I also knew it was strange for her to have tons of smelly liquid all over her neck like that. I called when I got home to complain that the shot never went in. I was told I would receive a call back and it took more

Suppourts Puppy Mills 6/9/2008

I heard that this vet supports puppy mills. How could someone take their loved pet to a vet that supports something like a puppy mill. Also most of the staff is inxperienced and the prices are way to high. I took my dog there to get its nails cut, I coulda done a better job cutting the nails with a knife. Customer Service is a HUGE problem 6/4/2008

If you have a pet that you love, the docters can be a great advantage. Yet you can not get that far with this facility. There are too many women at front that do not care. "A dime a dozen" attitude. Get though the weight of your dog and you are on your own. There is a great docter if you can get through the front attitude, her name is Nigermeyer. She is the most educated and understanding. If you can get past the front, She is the woman for the dogs, cats, and wild ones. She understands customer service.\r I can not let myself be let alone on the fact that I just called and the "professionals" hung up on me. They hung up on me because I asked who would be my docter. Be very attentive at the front desk. It is your life, your money, your dog. more

Always comprehesive and wonderful 5/1/2008

I always get good care at Old Marple Vet. Care is comprehensive and good. The staff and doctors are honest and empathetic. The doctors are forthright about costs and let me make up my mind as to what to do...When I read these bad reviews, I feel totally miffed as if these folks are visiting another hospital. I highly recommend Old Marple Vet clinic. more
