Came in for an oil change and tire rotation. Was told my brakes were unsafe and I was given MM measurements of what they were at. Was also told that my transmission fluid was extremely dark in color due to not doing my 60k service. After leaving Polar Bear I took my car to a mechanic in the family to look into the brakes and transmission further. The first thing he noticed was that although my tires were rotated, the air pressure had not been checked and needed to be refilled. Then, after removing the tires to inspect the brakes he was able to show me the original factory seals still on my brakes which means that the brakes were not inspected properly. Immediately he noticed that the front rotors were metal to metal, not at 1mm like I was told by Polar Bear. As for the transmission fluid, it was dark in color, however, not nearly as bad as Polar Bear made it seem. I was quoted $250 an axle for brakes at Polar Bear, and $189 for the transmission service, so a total of about $700 estimate. Far more than what I ended up paying to have all of my services done PLUS having the rotors reground and having him fix my tire pressure for me, as well. On the other side, the staff was friendly and I did get a good deal thanks to Groupon.
