Will never go back there or tell anyone to go there. 12/8/2014

They are so quick to take your money but not help you if some thing goes wrong. We spent $3000 on 4 different appliances. Three out of the 4 had something wrong at delivery. Four days after our appliances were delivered we started having issues with the washing machine. We were told by Raven the service manager that we could not return it until a technician came to our home and determined if something was wrong. They changed shocks on the washer but the problem was still not solved. We now have been told it is a loading issue... If parts were changed then something was obviously wrong. Dick van dyke has a 7 day return policy. We had our appliances delivered on Nov 10, we called with an issue on Nov 14th (within our 7 day return window), and a technician came to our home on Nov 17. But we were not in our 7 day return window.... Sounds like them stalling in order for us not to be able to return it.... We are hard working people that trusted a company to provide us working products.... Don't buy anything from them. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: I apologize that you feel we may have mislead you with our most recent service. It is very common with the new high efficiency machines to believe isn’t operating properly. The technology used to launder your clothes is unique to the High efficiency market. When we dispatched out our service technician to diagnose the off balance complaint, he diagnosed replacing the shocks. Unfortunately, on a new machine we experience only two types of failures with off balance complaints. The first failure would be the shocks, and the second would be a use and care issue. After we replaced the shocks you said the off balance situation remained. Therefore, we sent out a different technician to look at the machine. The second technician spoke with the manufacture, and with their assistance, he diagnosed an improperly loaded washed. The high efficiency machines owner’s manual gives detailed instructions on how to load a high efficiency washer. I’m glad to hear that my technician went over the loading instructions and that eliminated the off balance problems. We appreciate your business and hope to serve you in the future. Talk about convenient and hassel free 12/6/2014

The oven in our range quit working the day after Thanksgiving. Thank goodness It worked perfect when we cooked the turkey the day before. We emailed Dick Van Dyke describing the problem. They called and sent a nice repairman who found the control panel was shot and no longer available for replacement. The service call was $35, but since there was no way to repair it the serviceman gave us a $25 coupon to apply to a new range. We then looked at replacement ranges on Dick Van Dyke's website, found the one we wanted and emailed them. This prompted a call and we ordered and paid for the new range over the phone. Today a nice young man delivered and set up our new KitchenAid, double oven range and took the old one away. Each visit to our home was preceeded by a call from DVD's office as to when to expect the servicemen; both of which promptly called minutes before they arrived. This company is top drawer and we thank them for great products and services. more

Warranty Fraud on Refrigerator 12/6/2014

Please share with any friends that are thinking about purchasing appliances at Dick Van Dyke Appliance World. I am on day 39 without a refrigerator. I purchased this GE refrigerator for almost $2,000 and it is still under the 5 year warranty. Dick Van Dyke Appliance World advertises No Worry 5/10 Year Protection Plan however they will not honor the claim. Dick Van Dyke offered me $150 because they can not fix it. — at Dick Van Dyke Appliance World. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: Dick Van Dyke Appliance World apologizes that you feel we are not honoring our protection plan. However, the part that is needed to repair your appliance is on national backorder from the manufacture. When your appliance part becomes available anywhere in the United States we will repair your appliance at no charge to you. When we spoke with General Electric they agreed to call you and share with you the backorder status of the part. When they spoke with you on the telephone they offered you a $150.00 for your inconvenience. Dick Van Dyke Inc. also offered to bring you a loaner refrigerator at no charge to use until your appliance was repaired. Dick Van Dyke Inc. also offered to prorate the value of your appliance over a 5 year period in accordance with our protection plan. We were trying to offer you all of the options available under the 5 year 10 year protection plan. You declined all of the offers because you have another refrigerator. The information you provided is imprecise at best. Dick Van Dyke Inc. is honoring our protection plan and will repair the appliance at no charge to you as soon as the part becomes available from the manufacture. However, the offer to prorate your appliance will remain available to you if you decide to replace your GE refrigerator. Overpriced parts & labor --- BEWARE! 12/5/2014

Purchased GE refrig 6 yrs ago from DVD. Ice maker started leaking water in freezer so I placed a service call. Serviceman was late for appt (11am-2:30pm) & didn't bother to call he'd be late. While watching ice maker cycle he mentioned that a replacement would cost abt $180 (bottom line). Apparently their infamous 5/10 warranty only covers the condenser after 5 yrs. 10 mins later he confirmed it needed to be replaced. He had a unit on the truck but when he brought it in he told me it would cost $248 bottom line. What could I do, it had cost me $35 just for the service call to diagnose the problem...I told him to fix it. It only took him 10 mins to replace the unit. After he left I felt I had just been taken so I did some online investigating. Turns out the actual unit has an MSRP of $125. He charged $152 with tax (available online for $105 from authorized dealer including tax & shipping). Found DIY video truly only takes 10 mins, 1 easy excess screw & electrical plug, pull unit out, plug new unit it, screw back it place & your done. He charged $88 for labor. Subtract the$35 service call fee that's $53 for 10 min work ($318/hour labor rate). I'm done using DVD for any future non-warranty work. Our service technicians are factory trained to accurately diagnose and repair any appliance. The training that is required to offer such a comprehensive well educated employee does require that we pay a competitive wage. The service technician gives his ETA’s to our dispatch department at the beginning of their day. Unfortunately, the technician is unable to give exact times because of the nature of service industry. I looked at the vehicle tracking information on my service truck and discovered that your information is imprecise. The service technician was actually in your home roughly 30 minutes. In thirty minutes time he diagnosed and replaced your faulty Icemaker. We appreciate your patronage and look forward to meeting your needs in the future. Salesman Matt Doman is very knowledgeable about the different products. The only problem I had was they sent one man to move three appliances. Jeremy, the installer, did an excellent job bringing in the new refrigerator and range and relocating our old refrigerator. His explanation and set-up of the new equipment was very professional. more

The sales staff at the store in Bloomington was very helpful to us in deciding what washer and dryer we wanted to buy. They worked good with us in setting up the delivery date. The guy that delivered the washer and dryer and set them up for us was also very nice and knew what he was doing and got the job done in a very short period of time. Terrible Customer Service .... 11/30/2014

My washer has been out of service since Oct.. A repair man came on the 30th. .Returned on Nov.7 with parts & repaired the problem it ran for aproxmently 48 hours, a whole new problem and a loud one at that..Another repair man cones back on Nov. 13 since then no one has called to keep me updated on anything. .I've had to call was told this last time I would be called back on the 28th not one call.. They have a you can complain attitude but we aren't going to even try to make you a satisfied customer.. Did I mention that washer was just 2 years old in July and that tha same part has been replaced twice this year.. I m an EXTREMELY dissatisfied with them.... Customer Service is a must and they have the Absolute worst Customer Service I have ever seen or delt with EVER..... more

SECOND PURCHASE!! 11/29/2014

This is our second purchase from Dick Van Dyke in Bloomington, IL. We purchased a washer and dryer 3 years ago for our condo. We recently purchased a new house and needed another washer and dryer. We went straight to Dick Van Dyke. Lee Huxtable was our sales person and he was excellent. He was able to address all of my questions, and pointed me in the direction that best suited our needs. He didn't try to sell the most expensive set, but listened to what my family of 3 required for laundry. He also pulled up competitor's websites to make sure we were getting the best deal! We decided on the Maytag Bravos and love them! Within 3 days, Jeremy came and professionally installed our set within 30 minutes! Horrible service 11/24/2014

Im sure this will get deleted but here it goes. Where to start? Yes they will match prices but you pay for it in the long run. Bought all our kitchen appliances and a washer and dryer. They did not install the washer and dryer as requested had to wait for them to come install after multiple phone calls. When they did show up they sent one guy to install. Wash abs dryer are in the basement. So he couldn't do it alone and had to reschedule. Next time came out and installed dryer made thumping noise. Tech came out ordered new part. Waiting. Finally came in tech came back out and stoll thumping noise. So they want to ball the manufacturer. So a brand new dryer has not worked from day one! This is ridiculous you would think at this point they would replace the dyer. Oh no. Office staff would not give name of store manager All we have gotten is run around. Never buy from them nothing but a hassle!! Commercials are nothing but a lie. Long time customer - no more! 11/24/2014

Washer was leaking so I called Monday morning. They couldn't get a service person out until Tuesday (so much for same day). Service took 10 mins to show where it was leaking & showed the transmission was going out also with a $450 estimate to repair our 12 yr old washer. Have lived in Springfield over 30 yrs & brought all our appliances from DVD, so immediately went back around noon on Tuesday & brought a new front loader with base. Sales Mgr. explained ithe unit was brand new but had been delivered to previous buyer who rejected it because it wouldn't fit under their cabinets. As such they couldn't sell as new but there was nothing wrong with it since it wasn't in their scratch & dent area. They couldn't deliver & install untill next day. When delivered the installer found all 4 legs on the base had been damaged & he requested a serviceman come out to repair them. Serviceman arrived same day & thought the legs had been damaged moving items washer around on the showroom carpet. He ordered 4 new replacement legs on Wednesday. The following Monday he arrived & replaced the legs, leveled the unit & ran a test wash to confirm everything was OK. So much for the radio ads where the lady has a repair man come out, decides to buy new & has it delivered & running the same day. Also beware of buying floor room samples without having the legs checked out first for damage. So much for their service being better than the big box stores. DVD isn't what it used to be 30 yrs ago. If your purchase was made before noon we would have been able to accommodate the same day request at no additional charge. The regular sale price of this unit is $998.99 which we marked down to $887.99 because of the reasons you mentioned. Even with the discount you still received our 5 year 10 year protection plan for free. As with any floor model, we discount the unit and inspect it. We apologize that the legs on the unit missed our inspection and appreciate your patience while we resolved the issue. Regarding the initial service call, our advertising states service within 24 hours. Same day does happen often which you may see from a customer testimonial, but we still met our advertised promise of within 24 hours. We will strive to improve based on your feedback however. Champaign store - GE slate gas convection range 11/20/2014

My husband I were impressed with Champaign Dick Van Dyke store. The store was well organized and the appliances on the floor were clean. There also was a nice selection of brands and models. Our salesman, Bob, was knowledgeable about his merchandise and was not pushy. He explained the pros and cons along with the extended warranty information. The store did not have the range that we wanted but they were able to locate it and the new range was delivered a week later. The delivery man was careful in our home and also with the new range. He explained the features and made sure that it was in working order before he left. more

An absolutely terrific installation. 11/20/2014

Husband bought me a convection/microwave oven for my birthday. Jim arrived right on time to remove the old microwave and install the new unit. He was just amazing; courteous, knowledgeable and supremely efficient. He even took the time to show me how to operate my new toy. This is the fifth appliance we've purchased from Dick Van Dyke, but it most certainly won't be the last! more

Fisher Paykel dryer 11/19/2014

I bought a Fisher Paykel top loader dryer 4 years ago, after 2 years I started having trouble and needed frequent service. After 2 more years, Dick VanDyke declared it a lemon and ordered a new Fisher Paykel dryer---BUT insisted I had to pay $40.00 delivery fee! (on a dryer they were bringing to me because of switch out for my lemon of a dryer---I had to argue for a long time on the phone before the fee was waived!) I got my new dryer in September and it quit in October. Service department said it needs a new motor---. I received a call from the Manager of the service department asking me to call Fisher Paykel and put in a complaint file regarding my 2 LEMON of a dryers so that Dick Vandyke could track getting me a motor sooner than December---I did as asked. Following week I received a call that the moor should be here in 2 days----week went by no calls! Finally I call and no has a motor and no motor available till December. I received multiple apologizes stating that "didn't realize no one had contacted you and that we are waiting on response from Fisher Paykel. Meanwhile I am carting wet clothes around to dry in the currently cold weather. Dick Vandyke said I could not exchange out for a different brand-----I have called service and sales and no one has answers or will come to phone to tell me what is going on!!! Very frustrating and very disappointed as I have purchased a stove, washer, microwave from Dick Vandyke BUT no more will I be a customer! After purchasing a new refrigerator at Dick Van Dyke Appliance World a few years ago that turned out to be a "Lemon", I was totally impressed with the way DVDAW handled the two replacements necessary to get a refrigerator that worked the way it should. Therefore, this fall, when I needed a new washer and dryer, there was no other option in my book, but Dick Van Dyke. Extremely helpful in a pinch 11/5/2014

Our stove went out less than a week after having twins. We went to Dick Van Dyke on the recommendation of my parent's and my brother who have shopped up north at the Bloomington location and always had good experiences there. At the Springfield location we worked with Greg, who was able to help us quickly find a GE stove that works great and stayed within our budget. He was also able to help us get it delivered and installed the next day by Mark, who also did a great job quickly and accurately installing our stove. The whole experience was extremely easy, which was much appreciated at such a hectic time. more
