Where do I start? I would not recommend to you ever buy a set of kitchen appliances from this dealer. They lie - repeatedly. 10/1/2014

First we purchased a new cooktop, wall oven and microwave for a total kitchen remodel. We requested the microwave to be ordered immediately, but they didn't order it for two weeks after our request. Then the first one came in damaged and it took another 10 days to get the second one in. Then we requested an install date for the cooktop and oven. It took DVD two weeks to do the installation after we told them 2-3 weeks ahead of time - so waited a month for them. On installation day, the oven didn't work - at all! So they were supposed to order a part which they didn't do until two days after they came to our house. We had to call them and ask them when they would come to fix out oven. They wouldn't be back for another 5 days. We said that is not acceptable and they came in 2 days. When we called about the order of the part and the parts dept told us one thing and the repairman gave us a different story. Someone was lying to us. I really don't care who - just DO NOT BUY from Dick Van Dyke - if you want to retain you sanity. Oh, wait - I am not done yet. We still don't have our range hood that was supposed to be in 3 weeks. ago. And they will not tell us a date when it will be in! We have a beautiful kitchen with a big gaping hole where the range hood should be. more

I am a small landlord. Probably twice a year I buy a major appliance. This is the first time I have used Dick Van Dyke Appliances...and will be back again. You had in stock an odd sized refrigerator (24 inches wide), the sales person, Holly was very helpful, the delivery guys were great, and things were done properly (and trust me I have had enough experience to know the difference). You have gained a new customer. more

The salesman provided lots of helpful information when we were selecting a new washer and dryer. The price was right, the items were in stock, and we received next day delivery. The two technicians who delivered and installed the appliances were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. They went out of the way to make sure the installation was done completely so that we shouldn't have any difficulties operating our new washer and dryer. more

Very pleased with our salesman Mike Dal Pozzo, delivery men and installation technicians. Everyone was very professional and easy to deal with. Mike was very patient and answered all our questions and went the extra steps to make sure we got the correct rebates. I will say I thought I thought some the prices were a bit high, but when I compared all the prices with other vendors and included rebates, delivery and extended warranty, DVD beat the other retailers by several hundred dollars at the minimum. I did find there was no haggling for prices which disappointed me. DVD went out of their way to make us satisfied. We bought 3 kitchen appliances considered a step below professional quality, so it wasn't inexpensive. The techs were efficient and very good when it came to installing all 3 products. If I had one negative, it would be there front office in dealing with inquiries/questions that came up before and during the install process. It's not that they weren't helpful, it just seemed like they didn't have a quick way to access our purchase information and put us on hold for longer than they I think they should have. It was always hard to get through to them on the phone and they would call you back, but if weren't near a phone, it meant you ad to call back and start the process all over. more

Fixed but didn't test? 9/18/2014

They sent a service repair man out to our home. It took approximately 8 days for them to fit us in. After the repairman came to our house to diagnose the problem, he put in a part order for us and said that someone would call to set up an appointment when the part was in. I waited another week before I decided to call back to see what the problem was. The woman on the phone stated that the part came in on Monday (3 days after our appointment. Not 7 days like I waited.) So my dryer sat there for an additional 4 days while no one called. They set me up with another appointment 6 days later. After the repairman "fixed" our dryer, he must have failed to test it. I went to go turn it on today for the first time and it will not turn on. $250 and still no fix. After 2 weeks of waiting around for them to get something fixed I'm forced to wait 5 more days before someone can come in and try to fix their "fix". HIRE MORE EMPLOYEES IF YOUR UNDERSTAFFED. BETTER YET, HIRE MORE QUALIFIED EMPLOYEES! more

Beware 9/17/2014

We've used them for years with few if any problems. Worker came over, on time, and when questioned about the seemingly high rates for labor to fix leak on fridge, service washing machine (under warranty), and replace stove ignitors, informed me that jobs like this take five or six hours (he broke down each appliance's work timeframe.) So he finished in 2 hours, not 6, and handed me bills for $440.00 labor (parts extra). I protested this amount, and he told me he either needs a check, or he will have to take all the parts out. I invited him to take his parts back, but instead he called his boss, and they offered a $100.00 discount. I took the discount, but will never have them in my house again. You can't tell a client that your labor rate is justified because of the time it takes, then complete the job in a quarter of the time, and steal their money. This is dishonest, and I would NOT recommend anyone reading this review to call them. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: I apologize for any perceived dishonesty on our part. I would assume we have always delivered impeccable service since you have used our company for years. Our service technicians receive factory training to ensure an accurate diagnosis and repair. The service technician that came to your house gave you a thorough breakdown of the repair costs before the repair. I am sure you were familiar with this policy because of your extensive history with our company. My service technician received an authorization from you to repair all of your appliances for the quote given. However, after my service technician finished repairing all of your appliances you wanted a discount. I am assuming you weren’t happy with the estimate that was given to you prior to the repairs. Therefore, you felt you needed to use the two hours of work as leverage to get a reduction in the repair costs. I’m sorry you felt that was necessary given our history. Samsung Washer, Decatur Store after the sale 9/16/2014

Spent $1,500.00 on a washer & dryer in May, and had problems with the washer. I noticed the clothes were not getting cleaned. I went to the Decatur store a few weeks ago to see if they had had complaints about his particular washer and the manager said, "not too many". I told him about the problems and he said I must have a loading problem and that "You can't overload the machine." It is only myself and my husband in the household. I told him the towels in particular had an odor like they were not being cleaned and he said, "Well, you can't leave clothes sitting in the machine". Really? I am 60 yrs old, I know how to do laundry. I asked if I could have someone look at it and he said I could but if nothing was found wrong I would be charged. He asked if I had cleaned the machine. I have NEVER had to clean a machine! He told me to get ahold of SAMSUNG. I asked if he then as a dealer would have a number for SAMSUNG and he said no just go on line. I have to say, he was not rude but he was not helpful. He was more indifferent! I told him for the money I spent I didn't want to pay for a service call and if something was defective I would want a new machine. He said the money I spent wasn't really anymore than what any of the other machines cost and if something was wrong that's where my warranty would kick in. Very disappointed with getting no help and had to "go on Line". I have been in contact with the manufacturer and they are sending someone to investigate the machine free of charge. A simple "I'm sorry" goes along way in customer service. The salesperson, Bob Green who sold me the machine was great. The manager I spoke with after just needs some customer service coaching. We have bought washers, dryers and two refrigerators from the store. No more for us.. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: High-Efficiency topload washers do operate differently then traditional washers of years past. They need to be loaded differently and the tub does need to be cleaned periodically to maintain satisfactory cleanability. When loading, pretend the agitator is there and place the clothes around the perimeter of the tub and continue to stack until you reach the top of the tub. This allows the clothes to work against each other and scrub in a gentler fashion rather than rough agitation. Furthermore, stainless steel tubs cannot rust, but they still need maintenance. High-Efficiency washers come equipped with a "self clean" button that completes this process with little effort by the consumer and without use of harsh chemicals like bleach. It is recommended to "self clean" your tub once every 40 cycles. We think you will be much happier with your Samsung washer after following these new High-Efficiency steps in maintaining your unit, while enjoying the savings in water and energy that come with owning one. Your warranty will continue to cover any electronic or mechanical failures at no charge to you and no deductible for the visit. Sincerely, Paul Rieken Sales Division Manager more
