The bloomington dvd made my shopping experience easy and stress free. They compared prices with other stores and gave us a 5 year warranty. I can't say enough about the customer service. They were able to meet all my needs and took their time explaining all our options for our budget. more

Josh and Matt came out to install a new washer and drier. Couldn't have been more personable and accommodating. Two very nice young men and we're professional and courteous while they were at our home. Dave the sales guy was most helpful and true to his word. I am a little old fashioned and really appreciate people that are honest and courteous. These three were those things and my family and I appreciate it.. more

Chest freezer experience 4/19/2015

Purchased chest freezer, buying experience, delivery and install was good. However the compressor went out on it 6 months after purchase! Realize this may not be the store's fault but getting it repaired/replaced was way more involved than it needed to be. At the first mention of failure under manufacturers warranty they should have sent a service person qualified to assess the appliance. Instead a "regular" service tech was sent , said he would have to replace the compressor; he went back to the store ordered the parts then called to say he was coming to do the work. On the day of the scheduled visit for repair the tech called to say he had to have a senior tech come with so he had to reschedule the repair date. Then when he and the senior tech came, the sr tech took 10 minutes to look at it and say we are calling Fridgidaire to request a replacement, (which is what I expected them to do in the first place)...well After Another week and a half to get a replacement confirmed, shipped to The store, then delivered to me, I finally had a replacement after ONE Month! It was a little disappointing to drag it out so long...WOW! more

Dishwasher purchase and installation 4/16/2015

The sale of the dishwasher was made by phone because many appliances have been purchased from Dick Van Dyke in the past and all prior sales were service were excellent. The installation was great and the technician was very careful so as not to scratch flooring or cabinetry in the installation area. How to use and care for the dishwasher was fully explained. The whole Dick Van Dyke team gave superior service....thank you! more

refrigerator repair 4/16/2015

Last Sunday (4/13) our refrigerator went out and on monday I called Dick Van Dyke on Monday to set up a service  appointment for Tuesday. I kid you not that the tech walked in and told me it was the control board, which I knew from research, and proceeded to take down the model number and then tell me it was going to be $35 for the service call and left. The tech was literally in my house for 5 minutes. The tech also told me that he would get me a price on Wednesday,which I never received. This morning (Thurs)  finally received a call from the tech and he said the computers were down which is why I never received a call. I feel that for a company that touts customer service the customer service all around was poor. 1) if the tech knew the problem and knew tat you didn't have the board then why show up at all? Why not give a courtesy call and explain that from the discription you have diagnosed the problem and give a quote for servicing the appliance? 2) If the computers where truly down why not call and let me know, especially when you say you will call me in the morning.  Also, if the computers are down do you not have parts catalogs and a phone to call for prices? This was one of the worst customer service experiances that I have ever experianced. more

Purchased our double oven stove from Dave H. at the Springfield, IL store. Was a very pleasant experience and easy transaction. The delivery person (Aaron?) was also very pleasant and knowledgeable with the installation and conversation from natural gas to propane. Love, love, love my double oven stove. Our sales rep, Gary Zimmerman, even though somewhat new to appliances, was very competent, patient and accomodating to our needs. The installation staff worked very well as a team and performed their jobs with competence, and efficiency. The entire transaction was made quite easy for us. more

The first appliance was a washer that arrived at our house too damaged to sell us, so they got a second one and delivered it. The dryer was the second appliance we purchased, It arrived at the warehouse severely damaged and could not be delivered on the promised day. Delivery was sent up for the next day between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM. This was confirmed by the salesman the day before and twice by Springfield that day. So I canceled an appointment so I could be here for delivery. At 5:30 PM I received a call, they were just leaving Champagne. At 6:30 PM the dryer was delivered They did a great job of setting up, A+ for the delivery! RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: We certainly share your frustration on the damaged appliances. It creates many issues from a logistics standpoint to help satisfy our customer's in a timely manner. In your situation, we re-routed an installer from Champaign (to pull from our back-up warehouse) to get you a clean unit the next day AND reimbursed you for delivery and recycle. The window for a delivery is not a guarantee but an ETA (estimated time of arrival). When you came into our Decatur store Monday evening Rick did his best to explain how the timeframe Tuesday would be handled to best accommodate your request to arrive after you came home from work (after 4pm). We made all of these efforts to best overcome the damaged unit from the manufacturer's warehouse. Thank you for grading our installer's with an A+ for completing the job efficiently. My washing machine was in stock and Lyle had me set up for delivery the next day. Delivery guys were on time, great to work with (We had a shut off valve issue that they helped me take care of) . Been catching up on laundry all week and the machine works great. A “Wow” experience for sure. more

Purchased a Generl Electric refrigerator on May of 2010. Came with a five year warranty. Ice maker replaces several times. Quit cooling on Thanksgiving day of 2014. No parts to repair. 3/25/2015

Purchased G.E. side by side on 5-2010 for1889.99. We have had nothing but trouble out of the ice maker. It has been worked on several times and the ice maker has been replaced twice. On Thanksgiving day of 2014 the refrigerator quit cooling. DVD said that there would be a one hundred dollar charge to come out and look at it. There office is in Springfield Il. We live in Lincoln. The service tech. came out the next week and diagnosed the problem as the cooling fan was running slow. They ordered one. Through the next several weeks we sat with a refrigerator that did not cool. We were told on several occasions that they could not get the parts from G.E. and that DVD was working on it. Meanwhile our refrigerator was not working as it should. Then DVD offered to bring us a loner refer. On December 30 2014 DVD brought a refrigerator that would not use in the garage to store anything in little lone in the house. It was a small old used frig. that had been loaned to who knows who. But it was a frig. and it did work. They took our nice clean non working frig. with them to store until parts came in. On March 16 2015 DVD delivered our refrigerator back to us and picked up the loaner. I don't know where they stored our nice clean fridge but it came back covered on the inside with mold. They plugged it in and took the loaner. There we sat with all of our food and milk on the kitchen counter getting warm and a 75 degree fridge that needed several hours of cleanup and time after that to get cold. The top shelf now is bent down at an angle and looks horrible. It got bent in the process of being repaired. I was not home at the time of delivery or I would not of accepted it. My wife accepted it. We were so glad to get it back we just worked through it. I think most people wouldn't of. At least it is still working for now. Our 5 year protection plan runs out in 2 Months. Let me say in closing. We have been a customer with DVD for years and years. We have had very little problems with them. All the people and service personnel were very professional and pleasant to work with. We were very dissatisfied with the way this event played out. more

A problem getting the appliances installed 3/21/2015

I just bought a washer and dryer, supposedly to be installed at the time of delivery. But when the appliances came, I was told I needed a plumber and the deliverer would be able to do it. A similar thing happened with a new dishwasher last year: you need an electrician and another piece of hardware. The cost of installation is included in the appliance and if I need to call either a plumber or electrician, then they should pay for it, or inspect the current installation to decide what needs to be done. The sales personnel is very friendly but I am very unhappy with the delivery of the goods! more
