good product, sales- but communication poor 11/28/2015

We purchased a washer and dryer combo with a delivery scheduled for "last install" Saturday. An old phone number was listed on our account at time of sale. We informed the salesman of the new number and we were told they would call us in the cell phone number. Saturday comes with no call all mornimg. At 3pm I finally called to locate the delivery. I was told they could get a hold of us, since our phone was busy. I asked what number -it was the old number. She took down my number and said the installation & delivery crew would call and let us know when, but we are scheduled between 2-6pm. Waited until 5:35pm. Still no call. I called again. The store was closed. I finally found an answering service option on their phone menu. We explained the situation and received a call back within 15minutes. The delivery arrived just after 6pm. The delivery man did a good job and installed our new set. I guess the moral of our story is expect everything to be good with Dick Van Dyke, except their use of the telephone. more

Excellent 11/27/2015

purchased dishwasher, washer and dryer on Saturday: it was delivered the following Saturday as promised. We were called prior to arrival with time of delivery and it was as stated. Both delivery and installation men (Dan and Jason) were polite and efficient. We were expecting a much longer time to install all and take away the older appliances. We were quite shocked and their efficiency. They even were patient when we wanted to vacuum the floor and clean them after old appliances were removed and before new ones installed and actually did this service for us (which truth be told made the installation process go much quicker). Highly recommend. Told one and all about this wonderful experience. They checked to make sure all were in working order before explaining the paperwork for each and leaving. Polite, courteous - great customer service. more

enjoyable experience, value for the cost 11/27/2015

The appliances arrived in excellent condition, the old stove was removed after a minor difficulty was solved. The new stove was installed and a brief explination of it's features was provided. The new microwave arrived an hour later and the installation was quick and effecient. The minor physical work that was required was done and clean up was provided. The service men were efecient, cordial, and very helpful. more

Completely Satisfied 11/19/2015

This is my third time purchasing an appliance from Appliance World. Each time my experience was 100% satisfactory from the showroom floor to delivery and setup. I could not ask for better service either as I did have one service call on an older appliance. When another appliance needs replacing I will not look further than Appliance World. more

GREAT EXPERIENCE 11/19/2015

Salesman in store was very knowledgeable about the products that we requested to compare. We were searching for a replacement range for our home. We decided to go with the first one that we came in to look at (searched on website before coming to store). We requested prompt install date (close to Thanksgiving) and we received the oven the NEXT day. Installers were quick, friendly and helpful. Answered any questions that I had & checked all burners, turned on range to burn off oils in range, and set the clock for us. more

James worked very hard the whole time at our house with our new stove. He was very informative about our new stove and answered all our questions. Appliance World is very lucky to have James on their team. I will request him again when we purchase another new appliance. Great job James!!! more

Terrible experience--bad customer service 11/13/2015

We have had a terrible customer service experience with our new Bosch dishwasher we bought from Dick Van Dyke in Bloomington, IL. We mistakenly believed the marketing regarding the service experience. Right after we got the dishwasher we would hear a thumping noise 13 minutes into the cycle (Yes I timed it) Called and a tech came out. Said it was the lower spray arm. Two weeks later the part was installed. After installing it, the tech believed it was fixed. They ran it. My wife reminded them it was at 13 minutes. The tech didn't want to stay and verify the noise was gone and simply canceled the cycle. So after we run the first load, the noise or at least a very similar noise happens at the same time interval. Called again. Tech came out. After a lot of investigation, believed that it is the water hitting some dishes that makes the noise. So not a warranty issue so charged my wife $60. The next day when we go to load the dishwasher, the door now no longer opens parallel to the floor. Thus the bottom rack simply will roll back in when the door is "open" because it won't open fully. Called again. Sent same second tech out. He said that the hinge is broke- now a warranty claim so no service call.' So, if the first tech was patient with determining whether the repair was properly made we would not have been charge a service call. Also during the service call we were charged for, inadvertently the tech damaged our door (but it is being referred to as part failure) I wanted to investigate being refunded the $60 service call as it was only charged because of impatience and the fact that damage occurred during this visit. I asked to speak to a manager concerning these issues. I was directed to Amanda in the Springfield office. She was rude and contentious and does not have the appropriate people skills to deal with people that are frustrated after spending a thousand dollars on a high end appliance. She continued to say that since there was not a warranty claim on the second visit that we had to be charged the $60. She said she assumes the first tech was wrong in the diagnosis therefore we would have had service call whether he was impatient or not. I asked her how she could know that? She became more rude as the conversation went on. I then asked to speak to her supervisor. She refused stating "She is in this position in the company for a reason." She would not pass my call on saying that she is handling my concern. I asked how? She said she'd talk to the first technician. When I asked what she was going to ask him, she became contentious and told me she didn't have to tell me what she was going to talk to him about. She said she'd call me back but wanted to point out that I can't be refunded for a service call for a non-warranty claim. Wow. Where to begin? After hearing the conversation, my coworker said, "who was that so I never have them work on my appliances?" Either by impatience or negligence I'm out $60. For your sanity, please AVOID AT ALL COSTS. more

Just purchased a new refrigerator. Great experience and Pam was one of the best salesperson we have had the pleasure of working with. Pam promised if the price went down from any competitor after our purchase, she would match it. The refrigerator, after we purchased it, went down in price and without any discussion, Pam made good on her promise. The refrigerator was delivered on time and the installer did a great job of setting it up and explaining key operations. A five star experience from start to finish. Dan more

Great Experience 11/7/2015

Our Kitchenaid double oven has given us fits since we bought it. 12 years and many service calls later it went kaput! We went to Dick Van Dyke Appliance. Gary Zimmerman was our sales person. He guided us to a GE double oven. We had to replaced our Whirlpool microwave as well. Now we have a GE microwave. Gary was very knowledgeable. Shawn and Avery installed the double oven. They were polite, quick and cleaned up after the job was done. We love our new appliances! We really like the 5/10 warranty. We would use D.V.D. again. more

speed queen washer/dryer 11/1/2015

needed w/d for home just purchased, DVD-appliance world only place to suggest Speed Queen; other stores only stacked the side/sides so to reach dryer controls cleat at the top needed step ladder nor could the panel be read from the floor So researched Speed Queen and went back to DVD - Holly Bess was the best; SQ has the true stack w/d w/controls in the center - a great product and made in USA. Delivery on time as scheduled; one glitch was needed new drain hose as the one that came packed had a crink; i was about to phone when the parts dept called to say it had to be reordered/order lost or something but other than that the service so far (only since 9/19/15) has been excellent. I will return to DVD and always be sure Holly is working when i do more

Bad experience with dick van dyke 10/31/2015

My wife and I bought a refrigerator and stove at dick van dyke appliance world in Champaign Ill. we were told that they would have to order them and they would be delivered the following sat. if we paid for half of the balance due. On Friday afternoon I called to make sure they came in and would be delivered on sat as promised. I proceeded to remove the old refrigerator and stove to the garage. At 9:30 the day of delivery they called to inform me that since I didn't pay for the entire balance that they would not be delivered as promised and they would require the full payment before they would deliver them. If I had known I would have paid in full when we bought them. I later found out that if the remaining balance is over one thousand dollars they must receive payment in full a time of purchase. Most stores accept 1/2 balance at time of purchase and remaining balance upon delivery. I feel the Management has failed me. If they would have told me on Friday I would have made the payment and received them on time. This is a very bad way to do business . I will think twice before I ever buy anything at Dick van dyke appliance world again. For the safety of our employees we require the balance to be under $1000 before we load a truck and route for delivery. Your appliance consultant should have reminded you of this policy while scheduling your purchase. Very discouraged!! 10/30/2015

The Dick Van Dyke store in Bloomington and the offices in Springfield do NOT even deserve 1 star in my experience I've had with them!! I would give a negative rating if possible!! I purchased a stove from the Bloomington store in May 2015. For starters, the stove was delivered without oven racks!! Their suggestion was that I drive back to the store (which was 40 miles from my home) and they would give me the racks from the floor model!!! In the mean time, they would order me a new set. I made the 40 mile trip and when I arrived at the store the man tried to tell me the oven I purchased only had two racks when I knew the oven I purchased had 3 racks!! After finally agreeing I should have 3 racks, I drove back home only to discover the racks were too narrow. They just fell through the side brackets!!! I called back and spoke to Andy (the salesman who sold me the stove) and he said he had personally ordered me the new set so I should have them in a couple of days. Days went by without racks, so I called Andy again. After researching, he found that there was no order anywhere for my new oven racks!!!!! Needless to say, almost ONE MONTH went by before I received racks. I was without an oven for nearly a MONTH!!!!! That is not an acceptable way to run a business!!! That's only the first part of my complaint!! In September, my stove top appeared to have bubbled up on the ceramic top. I had tried cleaning and scrubbing it with the cleaner according to the instructions I received, but could not remove the bubbles. I wanted to make sure there wasn't something wrong with the top, so I called the store in Bloomington and told the girl what was happening and asked what I should do. She immediately said "We'll send a tech out to take a look at it. Since your appliance is still under warranty, there will be no charge to you." The tech (Jason) used a knife and scraped and scraped and finally got the bubbles off. Then he said "the bad news is, I'm gonna have to charge you $60 for this call since there isn't anything mechanically wrong with the unit". I explained to him that the girl I spoke to simply told me there would be NO charge. Then Jason said "You don't have to pay it. I'll put on the work order what you were told when you called in and I'll turn it in". Well guess what......I got a bill a couple weeks later for $60!!! I called the store in Bloomington and was told they would not reverse the charges because the girl I spoke with (who had scheduled the service call) said she had explained the warranty in full with me and that I was fully aware of what the warranty covered!!!!! That was a total LIE!!! Each person I spoke with to try to resolve this was very, very rude!! I finally asked to speak to a manager and was connected with Amanda in the Springfield office. She was absolutely the worst of all and should not even be in a manager's position!!! She totally stuck up for the girl who said she explained the warranty to me and when I asked Amanda for the girl's name and if I could speak to her, Amanda said in the nastiest voice "NO, I won't give you her name and you don't need to speak to her". She threatened to send the bill to collections if I don't pay the $60!!!! After this incident, I will discourage EVERYONE I know from doing business with a Dick Van Dyke store!!! Had an issue but will ALWAYS get appliances from Dick Van Dyke! 10/29/2015

We bought a supposedly new washing machine a few weeks ago. It was on the clearance aisle because of a cosmetic dent. We were told it had been tested and was guaranteed to work. We were getting it for $100 off of the regular price. When they brought it to the house and hooked it up it did not work, nothing, no sounds, nothing. They offered to keep it here and send a tech out the next day but of course we made them take it back and re-hook our old barely working one back up. This was an expensive washer and we felt it should work right out of the box, we didn't want a lemon. We also were going out of town for a couple of days the next morning. We had paid by debit card, so until we got the money back we couldn't purchase another one. Finally when the money went back onto the account we went back and purchased the same model except it was an un-dented one. We thought maybe they would maybe give us one for the same price, since we had to rearrange work schedules, wait for the money to come etc. They wouldn't budge on the price. So, our only complaint is that we wish they would of gave us the same exact model at the original price we paid for the supposedly new blemished one. Other than that, we really won't go anywhere else for appliances. Their service techs and delivery guys are great, friendly and informative and always make sure we are happy before they leave. The reason we had to get a new washer was because five years ago we saved less than a hundred bucks by buying our washer at a "big box store", if we would of bought it at DVD like we had been for years we could of had it fixed (would of been under warranty), and we wouldn't of needed a new one! Taught us a lesson that the $80 dollars we saved ended costing $800 five years down the road! The one time we deviated from buying at Dick Van Dyke it bit us in the you know what. So, our only gripe is that we hoped they would of given us the replacement for the same as the original price, that was a management decision, everyone else we have dealt with through the years have been great! more

Great Service from sales to delivery 10/26/2015

From the moment I walked in the door to the appliances being delivered, I couldn't ask for better service. Greg our salesman was great and understanding with my limited budget. Never felt pressured into something I didn't want or need. The delivery guys were also great, just wish I could remember their names, very professional and courteous. We will not be looking anywhere else from now on. more

ge hotpoint range 10/26/2015

purchased this in feb 2015,used oven only a handfull of times aug 2015 the oven would not shut off had to turn all gas off and power to range because the ignighter and gas would not stop !!!!!!! dick blamed the prob on ge because there was no parts to be had to fix it ,ge sent parts out twice with the correct part# on the box but the wrong part insidethanks for the worst custumer service ever ge dick if you are going to sell a new product dont you think you should be able to service it i WILL be sure and tell everyone i know thisreallyhappened!!!!!!! more
