Good sales experience and excellent delivery service 1/31/2016

Needed a new refrigerator; started at Lowe's for benchmark, but wanted to buy local so went to DVD. They matched Lowe's sale price and delivery/set-up policy. Personable, helpful salesman Michael found my preferred model, ordered color we wanted and promised delivery in a week. They called to verify on Thursday and delivered on Friday without a hitch. Installers efficient, professional and courteous. They made sure we were completely satisfied before they left. Will definitely return to DVD for my next appliance. more

Well Done 1/21/2016

Our salesman, Michael Roberts, was very professional and helped us decide on purchasing a Samsung washer and dryer. The men who delivered our washer and dryer, Dan and Jesse, were excellent. The dryer had a factory issue, but Dan & Jesse were able to obtain another by driving 4 hours to pick up another one for us so we could have a dryer on the same day of our scheduled delivery. A business is only as good as its employees. These 3 men have made this business good. Thank you more

Their warranty is very misleading please read carefully before purchasing products. Overall service was good 1/19/2016

After our washing machine quit working, we called Dick Van Dyke, and the technician informed us that the transmission had gone out. We were given a $25.00 gift certificate towards the purchase of a new washing machine. The following Saturday, my husband and I went to Dick Van Dyke to purchase a new machine. Our salesperson, Brett, was very knowledgeable and very helpful in our selection of a new machine. That same day we were put on the delivery list as an add on, which we greatly appreciated. We were told that the washing machine would be delivered anywhere between 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. We gave Dick Van Dyke personnel two different telephone numbers to contact us. We were home by 2:00 to await the phone call. We were still waiting after 9:00 P.M. with no phone call and no washing machine. I left a message with customer service and indicated our situation. On Monday morning the customer service personnel phoned and indicated that when the sales personnel come in she will relay the message. I did get a phone call right away from Brett, and he apologized. Evidently the service desk did not tell the truck driver that he had another delivery to make. It was a communication glitch. They were able to deliver the washing machine on Monday; Brett indicated the time frame the driver would be arriving, and the driver phoned about 35 minutes before he arrived. All ended up well. more

Bought 3 Speed Queens - Not Happy 1/19/2016

I purchased 2 Speed Queen dryers and 1 Speed Queen washer. I have been a regular service customer of Dick Van Dyke's for years. My machines break down regularly. 2 of the 3 broke down in the first week. I have a horrible time getting service. Despite being a repeat customer, it often takes days to get someone out - sometimes a week. The ads portray a WOW! experience on the service side - I am completely disastified with the speed of service I have received over the years. It has created great problems for me. Went to purchase a new GE Profile Dishwasher 1/18/2016

I called a few days ago about pricing and availability on a new GE Profile Dishwasher. They were higher than everyone but I like to support local business. I went in person today to buy it, and waited over 15 minutes while 1 sales lady casually talked to the counter service person and the other never bothered to come talk to me. The 3rd was busy at the counter with another customer... I left after the 15 minutes and passed by the one sales lady, who looked at me, but never said anything. So much for supporting the local guy vs the big box store... RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: We strive for the best customer service in the area and try to staff accordingly. This particular Monday was a holiday and our Sales Supervisor called out sick and we did our best to cover for the shortage. The sales associate you are speaking of was working with one of our certified installers to correct an issue for a customer that was on hold by telephone. We certainly regret not being able to assist you in a timely manner and the staff has been instructed to better acknowledge the presence of all customers, even if not able to properly assist in a timely fashion. they either broke or turned off the water to my icemaker which now no longer works. Have never posted my previous reviews from a week or so ago. Apparently they don't post the negative ones. more

Excellent swift service 1/15/2016

Sales persons and staff were very accommodating, explained every thing to my satisfaction , never made me feel that I had to hurry with my decision. I was most impressed with the speed of delivery and installation of the refrigerator. DVD is the only place I shop for my large appliances. more

poor 1/13/2016

I purchased a dishwasher from DVD. I was informed that my dishwasher was going to be delivered on Jan. 9 2016 I received a phone call on Wednesday Jan 6, 2016 to confirm the date so I waited all day on JAN 9 for DVD at 2 p.m on They still had no shown up so I call DVD and talked to them and they informed me that My dishwasher was not on the delivery truck and they didn't know where my dishwasher was and they would have a manger call me Monday to set a new date well I never received a phone call Monday or Tuesday so I went out to DVD told me I was scheduled for Jan 18 I told them that not what I agreed to I informed them they cost me overtime at my work so they need to cut the price they refused so I informed them that my money must not be good here so I am going somewhere else to purchase a dishwasher. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: Mr. Guthals, We do appreciate the opportunity you gave us regarding your GE dishwasher purchase. The unit you selected was not in-stock in our warehouse as you were informed at the time of purchase. We placed the order with GE and learned the appliance was on a short back-order which we later learned would delay your delivery by about 5 or 6 days. As of January 6, we were still hopeful that we could accommodate your original delivery date of January 9. We held out hope until January 8 when we notified you that the appliance would be not be in on time. On January 9, you entered our Springfield location to cancel the order which we did without any discussion. This conversation you had in person was with the store manager and did not necessitate a follow-up. GE has since shipped the requested appliance which we now have in-stock and not committed to any customer. If interested, please give us a call and we will schedule installation at a day and time around your work schedule. SOLD on Dick Van Dyke Appliance World! 1/11/2016

This was our first experience with DVD Appliance World (Champaign) and it will probably be the only place we will ever shop for appliances again. Bob Turner was very knowledgable and helpful. We left the store and did some price matching at other stores. We found the same range at another store for a lesser price but had only a 1 year warranty. He came very close to matching their price but still gave us a 5 yr. warranty. We couldn't be more pleased. Delivery, set-up and haul away of old was a good experience too! more

Service Call - not what was advertised 1/11/2016

I called Dick Van Dyke for a service call on my Kenmore washer. When I called for the appointment, I was told that there would be a $35 diagnostic charge, which, if a repair was needed would be deducted from the repair bill. The service tech came, gave my husband an estimate of $231.42 to replace a drain pump. My husband agreed to the estimate and the service tech completed the repair quickly, about 10 minutes. The problem occurred when the $35.00 was not deducted from the bill, as promised. When I called and questioned this, I was told, "Oh, that was already deducted." Really? Where was it deducted? There was no deduction on the bill of the $35. I spoke with the store manager, and was treated as if I was an idiot. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DICK VAN DYKE. I’ve researched the service call and it does appear the technician didn’t properly fill out his paperwork. Our technicians are trained to show our customers’ that the original service call fee has been deducted from the bill. Our technician charged you the appropriate charge for the repair, but since his ticket didn’t reflect the deduction of the service call we are going to refund you the service call. Made It Right 1/8/2016

Took delivery 12/31 of range/hood, refrigerator, dishwasher. Jan 2 dishwasher stopped working. Technician came out, identified issue. Requested exchange for another dishwasher rather than repair. Company was able to fulfill request. We had all GE appliances for 23 yrs without major issue. Purchased GE again. Smooth communications in arranging delivery. Completed oven installation 1/7/2016

The door on our Thermadoor oven rubbed after the installation. Time passed, but DVD staff was willing to look at notes regarding service calls and the warranty period. Even though the installation was past the warranty date on installation, they came and made adjustments to the cabinet, and now the door works perfectly. more

Top of the line sales and service 1/5/2016

Purchased a Bosch gas cook top in early Dec. 2015. From the first contact with the salesperson to the completed installation, it was just perfect! We couldn't be happier with our new cook top and I won't hesitate to put Dick Van Dyke Appliance World at the top of a very short list the next time we need an appliance. The price was competitive and the service was exceptional. Russ did an excellent job helping us select the best appliance for our needs and pocket book, and James was just the best at expertly installing the cook top. more

Disappointed 12/23/2015

I have always purchased my appliances from DVD. I have not purchased anything in quite some time, but needed a new washer and dryer. I had no hesitation to go back to them, however, the salesman seemed a little annoyed with my questions and went on to another customer who was purchasing all new appliances for a new construction. I had already researched the brand I wanted and DVD did have the best price. I remember their customer service as being top notch. The purchase to me was a lot of money @ $1600, I was extremely disappointed with the person who did the install. There was water all over the floor and he tracked it all over the basement. Gouged the wooden stairwell with the appliances. I had to remind him to switch out the door of the dryer. He left all the trash for me to pick up and discard. I was glad when he left, as he almost hit my husbands car exiting the driveway. Today as I go online to register the appliances, I gathered all the paperwork, only to find the installers handwriting is so bad I can't read the serial numbers. I will have to move the appliances myself and record the numbers. I am disappointed in the experience, as this is not the DVD I remember. Do not buy from these people 12/22/2015

We purchased a new dishwasher and microwave from DVD. The microwave was a floor model. When asked if it worked, the sales person said yes. The microwave sounds like a 747 taking off. Their repair person said it has a bent fan shaft. Not replaceable, we are told we have to get a refund from the manufacturer, not from Dick Van Dyke. It was broke right out of the box. The dishwasher installer set the unit at such an angle, the top rack rolled out on it's own yet the installer said there was nothing they could do. The repair person fixed that for us and said the installer was not truthful. They lied twice to us so do not believe them. Take your business elsewhere. When you received your new appliance it was making a strange noise when it was turned on. The appliances on our showroom floor are for showcasing only. We immediately dispatched out one of our factory trained technicians to diagnose the noise. The technician called our Customer service department about the manufacture defect. Our Customer service department contacted Frigidaire to get the appliance exchanged. The manufacture felt the issue with your appliance was so unique that they wanted to handle the exchange.
