They gave us the pro's and con's of the machines we were looking at, and helped us choose which one best suits our family's needs. Great Service and Cheaper Than the Big Box Store 10/16/2015

We needed a new dishwasher. We went to the big box stores to comparison shop. We found one we liked but we couldn't get it for 14 days! So much for their buy it today, have it installed tomorrow sales pitch. And, we would have to pay $149 for installation, $50 for delivery and another $50 for haul away. We remembered the Dick Van Dyke Appliance World ads on tv so decided to take a look at what they had. Well, as the actors in the ads say "WOW!" We got the dishwasher we wanted for the same sticker price as the big box store, $119 for installation which covered delivery and haul away too, no sales tax and a 5/10 year warranty. And, we had it installed 3 days later - it would have been 2 but we were not available. The installers were right on time and took less than an hour. WOW! more

No assistance with broken drawer. 10/16/2015

I have purchased several items at Dick Van Dyke in Decatur, to include a stove, microwave, and a refrigerator. The last item purchased, the G.E. frig, had a vegetable drawer break within months. When I took the drawer back to the store, I was informed that it was not under the warranty. So, $102 dollars later I have a new plastic replacement drawer. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: Mr. Anderson we have searched our entire customer history trying to research your complaint. We have been unable to find where a Mr. Anderson purchased a vegetable drawer from our company. However, you may have purchased the vegetable drawer under a different name. Terrible Company 10/13/2015

Exactly five years and two months ago I purchased four new Frigidaire Professional kitchen appliances from Dick Van Dyke for my kitchen (Refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and range) at a cost well in excess of $6,000. One year later the main computer board in the range failed and had to be replaced. Shortly after that the same thing happened with the microwave. Now, four years after that repair, the range caught fire and almost burned my house down. Their service tech says the computer board shorted out and caused the fire, which also melted the wiring. Neither DVD nor Frigidaire will cover any part of the repairs. The DVD customer service person actually told me on the phone that if my house had burned that at least my homeowners insurance would have covered it. BRILLIANT you moron!! Stay away from Dick Van Dyke Appliance world and from Frigidaire. Don't be fooled by that 5/10 year warranty farce. Spend your money with companies that are reputable and stand behind what they sell - these companies do not. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: I apologize you feel we didn’t help you with your most recent service issue. My records indicate that in July of 2011 your stove needed a new clock assembly, because the numbers weren’t as bright as you thought they should be. We sent out a factory trained service technician and he replaced the clock assemble at no charge to you. On Oct 12, 2015 you called our service department because your range caught fire. Once again we sent out a factory trained service technician to diagnose your appliance. The technician diagnosed the 4 year old clock assembly malfunctioned and failed. Our technician informed you the appliance was too old to still be covered under our 5 year protection plan. Our technician gave you the estimate and you felt because we replaced the clock assembly four years earlier that we should cover the repair. My Customer service department spoke with you about your dissatisfaction with us not covering the repair. My Customer service representative knew that you were upset because you kept asking what Dick Van Dyke Inc. would do if my house burns down. That is when our representative tried to reassure you that your homeowners insurance will help with any type of fire related issue. Our goal was not to be combative but informative. Great installers 10/9/2015

The 2 young men that delivered our new refrigerator went above and beyond. Our old refrigerator had stripped bolts and other issues and would not fit through any doorways. They worked over an hour to remove a piece and were upbeat and friendly and patient the entire time. more

Would not replace lemon equipment. 10/7/2015

Absolutely the worst company to work with if you have issues with your appliance after purchasing. We purchased a GE washer that was a lemon from the start. They came out 3 times and tried to fix,(had to wait 1 -2 weeks each time) completely rebuilding it with new parts. Technicians never could figure out what was wrong. Went back to store and asked if we could purchase a different new washer and if they would give us a small discount on the new ($100-$200 was all I was asking). I paid over $900 for it plus I was going to purchase a new $800 machine as well. They would not give any discount. Service Manager said it had to have 5 service calls in a year before they would even listen to us. Tried to tell them the machine doesn't even work and the technicians said they have no idea what is wrong. I got tired of waiting for a technician to show up and say he doesn't know what is wrong. DO NOT PURCHASE From Dick Van Dyke, go to someone who stands behind their customer service promises. Service Manager said we could call GE and complain to them but she cannot help us at all what kind of a company is that. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: I apologize for any issues that may have led to your negative review of our company. I am a little confused by your review because your washing machine was repaired at no cost to you and is working fine. The first time we came to your house the machine was not staying balanced properly, and we repaired the shocks. The second time you called us out was about four weeks later and said the machine quit working. Each repair was covered at no cost to you and was repaired as quickly as we could obtain the parts. When you called our Customer service manager and asked for cash towards a new appliance we explained our warranty doesn’t offer a cash buy back option. You indicated that you understood the protection plan but just wanted a new machine. Service and installation seems to be the problem! 10/5/2015

Just spent several minutes reading past reviews and it seems my poor experience with DVD service and installation is not unusual. The reply comments from DVD are also very unacceptable as most just say, "Sorry". It's obviously an ongoing problem DVD needs to to address. Sales person (Greg) and deliverers (Darrell) were easy to work with. Delivery guys did have to removed the doors on the old side-by-side to get it out (the front door) & had to remove and re-install the doors on the new unit to clear the kitchen cabinet counter tops. Pleasant experience all around. more

Persevered and solved the manufacturers problem 9/25/2015

We had a few issues with a new Jenn-Aire stove top that needed multiple visits to be corrected. This was the manufacturers issue and not DVD's. The serviceman Jeremy was "awesome" worked with us and persevered until the issue was solved. Friendly reliable and highly competent service during these trying times of having to service a new appliance. Would highly recommend!!!!! more

technician broke our copper pipe and then tried to state it was a manufacturer defect 9/21/2015

refrigerator caught fire DVD came out to replace the compressor that was repairable, while trying to remove the compressor the technician broke the copper pipe and then advised the refrigerator is now not repairable and we need a new one. DVD is stating it is out of warranty and it is a manufacturer defect. The technician never said anything about the pipe being defective (on first visit 2 weeks prior or during current visit) until after he broke it. Frigidaire will not cover since technician faulty work caused the pipe to break and DVD will not replace our refrigerator. We had to purchase a new refrigerator. The service head Amanda Taylor tried to claim it was going to break anyways. Do not do business with these people!!! more

I had a new washer and dryer delivered this morning. They were in with the new, out with the old, no complaints from them or myself. The installed, short cycled a load through the washer, cleaned up their trash and was gone. It was so smooth that I almost felt ignored. That was good! more

Andy was great in explaining the features of the stoves - I had my 15 y.o. daughter with me to teach her about the buying process and he engaged her in the discussion. We both felt after checking several places that this was the place to buy from. I have also used DVD for service and they have been very prompt and helpful - I look forward to continuing working with them. more
