Great Service and on time delivery 7/1/2011

I bought the most amazing Giant Fairy Castle Birthday Cake for my little girl 1st birthday from Hansen's last week. \r \r It was an open book cake with a 3d fairy castle stacked on top of the open book.\r \r Everything was made out of buttercream not fondant. The cake was very moist and the buttercream to die for.\r \r The service was great, delivery on time and the cake was spectacular. It tasted great too! \r \r more

Cake Boss west 7/1/2011

I am new to this area and I had the most pleasant experience when I walked into Hansen's Cakes. I am from Boise and I have never seen such beautiful cakes they are breath taking, I would recommend this bakery to any old or new San Fernando valley resident, or anyone passing thru the town.\r \r When my friend, Debbie comes here to visit I always make sure to have her favorite red velvet cake with cream cheese filling on the table for her grand welcoming. She really gets excited when she sees I remembered her favorite thing. We love the place so much we would like to see one open in her town of boise Idaho. But for now she just has to settle for a red velvet cake when she visits me and her quick visit to Hansen's Cakes on her way out of town more

they look good but they taste grrrrreat 6/28/2011

This is one of the last remaining scratch bakeries left, so many bakeries are turning to freeze and thaw and dip out products that the real art of baking is being left behind. Hansen's custom cakes are made by people who have been doing this all their lives, so there is something to say for that, and only the best ingredients are used, the buttercream is to die for and the cakes are very moist never dry. There is nothing in there I tried that is not delicious, stop and see for youself, ask for the little samples that they provide tastebuds don't lie. more

Excellent Bakery Great Service 6/23/2011

I had the same traditional wedding that my parents had 32 years ago. I wore the wedding dress that my mother wore in here wedding. The decorations were in the same exact detail and colors that my wonderful parents had on their special day. Everything was perfect. It brought my parents back to the time they were so in love and full of life for their future they were about to spend together. Except this time it was all for me, their daughter. The daughter they thought would never get married. But the thing that surprised them the most was the wedding cake. My husband and I had Hansen's Cakesmake a replica of my parents wedding cake from 32 years ago. It was important for my wedding cake to look exactly like my parents. All I had to do was bring in a photo of what it looked like and Hansen's Cakes wedding consultant Jack was able to recreate my special moment. He said it would not be a problem and gave me assurance that I would absolutely love it. I felt comfortable with him and bought the wedding cake on my first visit of his bakery. It took one year to pull this perfect wedding off and it was worth it. If you could have seen my parents faces when they saw the wedding cakeâ..wellâ.it made even me cry with my aunt and grandma. This wedding was the perfect moment that not only pleased my husband and I but my whole family. I want to thank Hansen's cakes for their great talent and for helping make my wedding the best wedding a bride could ever hope for.\r \r more

please tell the truth 6/15/2011

Dear Tara,\r \r I really do appreciate if you tell the truth. On May 21st You ordered a cake and some cupcakes for pickup on June 11th you wanted to leave a deposit because you did not have enough money to make the full payment (store policy: payment is due in full the day that you place the order) I was nice to you (I guess I ended up being a bad person)I told you that you need to pay one week before the pick up date (not a few days as you claim or the day of the pickup) I know what I said I have been doing this for 30 years. On 5/24 you came in I assumed that you were paying in full but you left a $30 deposit, again I reminded you that the balance is due by Sat June 4th. You never showed up on Sat June 4th. I called on Tuesday June 7th and left you a message. You claim that you called on Monday June 6th unfortunately the store is always closed on Mondays and there was nobody in the store . On Wednesday you called me that you are coming in on Thursday to pay. On Thursday you called me and you told me that you are unable to come in and you are going to give me you credit card information over the phone, do you remember I told you I need to physically swipe the credit card reason being since you are ordering in Tarzana and picking up at the Fairfax location there is no way of getting the imprint of the card do you remember I apologized and I said sorry for the inconvenience, you also mentioned that are no funds in the account at this time and the charges will be denied so you need to wait until Friday to run the credit card to get approval. You also forgot to mention in your review that jack went on line on his own time searching for Dora and Diego photos to place on the cupcakes and you did not say thank you once. Regarding the 10 year old history approx 2001 you placed an order the credit card that you gave us was denied there were no funds in the account, I called and left you a message but you never called us back. You stated in your review that you have been coming to the Tarzana location for the last 10 years, but you recently moved to Palmdale it does not add up. In your review you mentioned that for the last 10 years that I helped you I have been rude and not friendly why do you still come to the store if I have been rude to you every single time, you also mention in your review that you don’t know when to pay for the order. Truthfully if you have been coming here for the last 10 years you should know what the store policy is for placing and paying for an order (payment is due in full the day that you place the order). Again I was never ever rude to you I really do appreciated if you tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth.\r more

Hansen's/Tarzana Location: Bad Customer Service! 6/9/2011

I have been a customer for over 20 years, mainly placing orders from the Fairfax location. I recently moved to Palmdale, Ca. So I have ordered from the Tarzana location because it closer to my home, WRONG move. Every time I go into the Tarzana location Jack is there and is no very friendly, borderline RUDE. But I really love the taste of the cakes, they are GREAT. Well my first disappoint happened about 10 years ago (Tarzana location)...I went in placed my order, gave my credit card info., thinking everything is ok. Well two weeks later I go to pick up the cake (for my sons 5th bday party) and no cake? Jack states ""you card did not go through) so I ask ""why didn't anyone call me and see if there was a mistake or did I have a different card to use"" Jack states ""oh well, your card did not work"" I was like wow, I have a party and no cake. He did not apologize or anything, just started talking in his language to someone else in the store. Ok so, things happened and I continue to order from this location. Again every time I go, Jack is borderline rude. I go into the Tarzana location again on 05/21/11 to order a birthday cake for (sat 06/11/11) I place my order, with Jack, I ask him how much will the deposit be, he states ""no deposit just pay in full a couple days prior to picking up the cake. I say ok, but I did go back to Hansen's on 05/24/11 and I gave a $30.00 deposit(just to make sure my cake gets made) I call Jack on Monday 06/06/11 and let him know I will be in on Friday to pay the balance in full, Jack states ""no you have to pay in full by Wednesday"" I said ""you did not state that when I left you my $30.00 cash deposit""....he states, ""well that's what you need to do"".....I state ""I am unable to come in prior to Friday"" he states ""need the full payment Thursday 5pm latest"" So I call Jack Thursday morning 10:00am to give my credit card info over the phone....Jack states ""no you have to come into the store with the card"" Again he never stated I needed to come in only ""need the balance in full by 5pm Thursday state ""when I pick up the cake I will have my card and id"" he starts again talking in his language and says, come get your $30.00 I'm cancelling this order""....I was floored at this point...So fine cancel my order! I call the Fairfax location spoke with ""Patty"" she was the best help to me, she stated yes we can take your credit card info over the phone, just have your id and card with you once you pick up the cake! Really wow! How hard was that for rude Jack to do? Because of Jack's rudeness, Hansen's almost lost a valued customer. I will NEVER go to Hansen's in Tarzana, California EVER again! I will stay with the Fairfax location.\r ps I agree with Busymomx4 and frustrating experience! Jack is rude and lacks people skills!\r more

Hansen's comes to the rescue 1/10/2011

My wedding was on New Years Eve, a family member promised to make our cake, at the last minute she bailed out on us. On thursday morning we called several bakeries, Hansen's was the only one that said yes. We went there at noon met Jack ( i don't know if he was the owner or he just worked there) he took our order. The service was great there as well, extremely helpful and kind. more

Valley's best 1/3/2011

I am a xmas baby. I have been getting the same birthday cake (3d snowman and xmas tree cake) from here for the last 23 years, you guys are the best.\r \r Thank you again more

Hansen's Reply to busymomx 1/3/2011

Seriously? this is the most unprofessional reply to a review ever. so they weren't happy but you are acting like it is a personal attack. It is business.treat it as such. Obviously hansen's does something right as you have been in business for a very long time. I personally do not like the frosting but the cakes are great. Really, blow her off and go on. I understand wanting to attack, believe me my husband has to pratically put a choke chain on me when someone criticizes our business, but you can kill with kindmess! more

No quality control, horrible customer service 12/31/2010

They charged us $150 for a half-sheet cake for my sister-in-law's baby shower. I was expecting a beautiful red-velvet cake, with a decoration of ""baby feet"" on it. The cake is pictured and called ""baby feet"" in their catalog. Instead, I got GIANT GALUMPING UGLY YELLOW FEET on an ugly, plain white cake, and the worst part is that the ""red velvet"" was actually CHEAP WHITE CAKE WITH TONS OF RED FOOD COLORING! We were so shocked when we cut the cake open and tasted it, I ended up bringing 3/4 of the cake back to the store, where I was basically told, ""too bad, we can't do anything for you if you're unhappy - otherwise we'd have to refund everyone who doesn't like our cakes."" REALLY? If you have SO MANY UNHAPPY CUSTOMERS that you can't possibly accommodate them, then maybe your business is doing something wrong. They sent me away dissatisfied, and I am now kicking myself for not ordering a better-tasting cake from Ralph's or Costco for less than half the price. What a shame that this particular Hansen's fell so far in quality and doesn't even seem to care. If you remember Hansen's cakes from your childhood, preserve your memory and DON'T GO THERE NOW! more

Frustrating experience 12/13/2010

We have always loved the taste of these cakes. But their reputation for friendliness, customer service, and flexibility is at an all time low. Do they even smile these days? I spent over an hour trying to explain what we wanted - a cake with a piano motif. Not only did the lady in there interrupt me at every turn, but the phrase ""We cannot do that!"" was all she seemed to know. What about...""We cannot do that!"" I'm just saying that maybe ""We cannot do that!"" It was infuriating! I decorate cakes myself. What i was talking about was very simple. Sheesh. more

omg gluten free cakes 5/18/2010

CUPYCAKE IS A FAKE REVIEWER 5/10/2010

This is a response for the review left by Cupycake on 4/19/2010. There are two sides to every story.\r \r I do not fabricate the ""positive reviews"".\r \r I am not rude.\r \r I do not watch T.V. in front of the customers.\r \r I do not have a T.V. in the store.\r \r I do not have a cable or a satellite provider.\r \r I do not toss a box of cake samples at customers.\r \r Cake samples do not come in boxes.\r \r I use brown and white lunch bags for cake samples.\r \r I have a cleaning lady who comes and clean the store once a week.\r \r The store was remodeled 5 years ago.\r \r the cakes were replaced 5 years ago.\r \r A Google Rep was in my store a month ago, took several photos of the interior and exterior of the store, when it's published i will place it on this website.\r \r I agree with you the store was opened in 1981.\r \r I agree with you there are plenty of bakeries in the valley. there is one in every corner, just to let you know there are 3 bakeries across the street from this store.\r \r Citysearch asks business owners to encourage their customers to write reviews, so for the next two to three weeks i will ask one customer per day to leave a postive review on this website. \r \r I am shocked and in disbelief regarding these serious false accusations made by this reviewer. \r \r After having submitted the facts to citysearch, regarding this slanderous and false posting, they refused to remove ""we don't make factual determinations"", however if you pay us $200 we will remove all the bad reviews. This is clearly called EXTORSION\r Pros: CUPYCAKE stay away from this store Cons: I can rate you, you are a big zerooooooooooooo cupycake more

the best dinosaur cake 11/13/2008

I had an idea. I wanted to make a cake consisting of two dinosaurs. One was to be a T-Rex, and the other a triceratops. Not so unusual, two dinosaurs on a cake, but I wanted more. I wanted them to be done in a figurative style, realistic. The classic battle between two beheomouths with the T-Rex's jaws logged into the underbelly of the triceratops, it's ribcage exposed, guts spilled on a cretaceous landscape. I looked around hoping to find a bakery that would do justice to my vision. I am, aftwerall, a paleontologist--a career I pursued in no small measure. My point here is that Hansen Cakes did a great job. And the scientific community of which I belong was dually impressed. \r \r Pros: just awesome more

**********BEST CAKES IN THE VALLEY************** 10/30/2008

This is the coolest bakery....it's like heaven and everything sparkles. The cupcakes are yummy and killer cookies too. We ordered a cut out baby bottle shaped cake for my friend's baby shower. The staff is creative and fun and we can't wait to go there again!\r \r Pros: ambience Cons: parking more

XCELENT CUPCAKES 10/22/2008

We are BIG fans of cupcakes! Generally, we will go to Sprinkles or Jones on Third, but was thrilled to find a cupcake specialty store on our side of the hill, a big selections of cupcakes. The cakes are very moist. The frosting was perfect and delicious. Who knew hansen cakes was into cupcakes, one thing you need to order ahead but well worth it\r Pros: the best in the valley Cons: parking more

great service and product 10/22/2008

the best cupcakes in town and very affordable, better than that other cupcake store if you know what i mean Pros: best cup cakes more

Unparalleled Service and Flavor. Perfect Cakes 10/22/2008

Food Network-worthy designs keep us coming back to Hansen's Cakes year after year. The service is very good. If I ever have to be put on hold they are very sweet about coming back to me as soon as possible, and even sometimes take my number and call me back right away. I have always had the cakes arrive as ordered, but sometimes the artists do take my order to the next level of creativity for an even more spectacular result than I anticipate. This is something that I rely on: excellent cakes from Hansen's. I understand that they now offer a gluten -free cake for sensitive people and I am so happy about that, as one of my co-workers has never been able to eat a Hansen's Cake before and now I get to share my joy with her. It does cost a bit more for this option, but whatever....it is still cheaper than most of the art cakes out there and when I order from Hansens I have the peace of mind of knowing that I will always get the best that there is to be had.\r Pros: five star service and results always. more
