Another smooth transaction with DVD 1/21/2013

We've only purchased from DVD for all our appliances ever since moving to Springfield over 20 years ago. Great service when needed, they matched best on-line price I found on our new LG gas stove. a $300 price drop, even after paying tax and delivery, I still saved $188! more

Nice appliances, but overall disappointed in the service 1/21/2013

We were looking for all new kitchen appliances - stove, range hood, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. While no small order, the salesman made efficient use of my limited time shopping by listening to my needs and only showed me a couple of each item to choose from so as to not overwhelm me. However, he did make a promise the installers were unable to deliver on regarding the refrigerator that was extremely disappointing! Delivery and installation was scheduled on a convenient day, but non-specific as to the time. The team was efficient, but left the stove not level and the back of the controls plate coming unscrewed, the range hood loose and vibrating, and they used our tools and lumber to complete the job! Within a month the dishwasher began leaking. The service tech showed up with inadequate notes, has to order a basic part and it will be another week or so before it can get fixed. more

I was disappointed how I had no delivery time information. They called and said, were enroute to your home. No notice. I had a meeting to be at and, was told there would be a $10. fee for a later delivery time. There is no four hour window of time. I didn't think arguing with me, the customer, was very professional. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: We apologize for the disruption in your day attempting delivery. We have several different delivery options to minimize the impact to our customers. The first option we offer is a one hour call to meet option. This allows our customers to continue with their normal routines, and we will call you on your cell phone one hour before delivery. This option is preferred by our customers with busy schedules. Our second option is to set a time restrictive type of delivery for customers that have blocks of time throughout the day when they're unavailable. Due to the nature of this delivery we charge a nominal fee of $10.00 for the restricted delivery time. Our third option is to schedule the delivery for all day. If we schedule a delivery for all day we will provide a delivery time within a four hour window. Our dispatchers and sales staff routinely call and notify our customers of the expected ETA of our installation staff. Great Service 1/16/2013

First time purchasing a dishwasher. Read reviews about brands and models online before venturing to the stores. Went to several stores to compare prices and models. DVD had the best service and the most knowledgeable associate I spoke with. Price could have been a little lower but the quality of service and the associates knowledge made up for it. Installation technician was great. Unfortunately I can't remember his name so that he gets recognized for his service. He answered all of my questions and was very quick and efficient in his work. more

Great service and sales 1/13/2013

I bought a washer and dryer from DVD 13 yrs ago. When my washing machine started leaking, we called DVD to see if the machine could be fixed. Although unfortunately, it would have cost more to fix than was worth on an old machine, our service tech, Aaron, was great. We went to DVD, picked out a new set from their wide selection of products, and my new set will be delivered (and the old set hauled away) within a week. You can't get better service than what you get from DVD. I will always buy my appliances from them!! Thank you for another great experience. more

Poor communication, professionalism 1/10/2013

I called Dick Van Dyke appliance at Bloomington to fix my electric dryer. I really wasn't expecting much since another company had worked on the dryer and after two visits couldn't figure out the problem. Last week the technician arrived gave an estimate and said the part would probably be in by Wednesday. Wednesday comes and no call. He leaves the dryer out blocking the refrigerator. So I call on Thursday to find out when they could come out. I get an answering machine that says to call back after 8am at 8:30am. So when I call to check at 4:30pm the guy answering the phone says he has no idea when to expect service since he has called and left messages with the parts dept and the technician and they have not called back. I ask "What can I do to facilitate getting my dryer fixed?" and he said I could leave a message at the parts dept. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: I apologize for the inconvenience we may have caused during your most recent experience with our company. I have reviewed the circumstances surrounding your service call and it appears you declined the repair. According to our records our service technician diagnosed your appliance and we called you with an estimate. When our parts clerk gave you the estimate we documented you declined repair because of the expense associated with the service. When we have a situation where the customer declines to repair their appliance we give them a $25 service call coupon. The coupon can be used towards the purchase of a new appliance at any of our stores. I feel our service technician accurately diagnosed your appliance and gave you an estimate to repair the appliance after one visit to your home. Our repair warranty ensures that we make an accurate diagnosis. If we misdiagnose the appliance we will refund our customers their money or give them an in-store credit towards the purchase of a new appliance. We strive to satisfy everyone we meet, but I believe the previous service company misdiagnosing the appliance two times previously made the situation worse. We hope the next time you need service you will call us first and we will eliminate the unnecessary trips and inconvenience you dealt with during your last repair. Totally enjoy the new appliances i purchased, but the delivery process, before Christmas, was a bit of a problem 1/4/2013

Totally enjoying the new refidgerator, range, range hood, washer and dryer. Purchased the washer and dryer later than the other items, but I ended up with 3 different delivery dates and the first items were at least one week after they were promised. more

Problem STILL not fixed!! 1/4/2013

Have a washer not draining completely after the spin cycle. A repairman showed up the same day called, just like advertised, and immediately said he could fix the problem with a new clutch. (Fantastic!) He installed the clutch and a new sound became noticable. Said the pump was going bad. (Wait a minute, it wasn't going bad before he "fixed" the clutch!) So he replaces the pump as well and now we're out $200. The catch is that the same problem still exists the next load we run! Called the next day to tell them and they refused to send anyone out. We delayed going out of town to accommodate THEIR schedule, so that the following day the same repair guy can come out. He ran a load, fiddled with the controls, and said it was all fine. Next load we ran after he left was dripping water again after the spin cycle! Called a 3rd time and it will now be 3 days before a different repairman is available. Not quite the service they advertise. It's laughable! So much for my $200 I'm sure as well. We have contacted our senior technician and immediately dispatched him to your home to repair your appliance at no cost to you. Very Good. We purchase a clothes washer & dryer from DVD-AW. Bob Turner answered our questions and was pleasant to deal with. Richard was a very good delivery man & installer for the washer & dryer. I wish DVD-AW provided him with another hose and dryer vent material. I am very glad DVD-AW has parts dept. in Champaign. more

Service good but due tech error problem not fixed lost food they didn't care! 1/2/2013

You responded quickly and I thought the problem was fixed, but the tech didn't check something and the problem returned with in 10 days, called again tech returned found problem admited it was overlooked by him the first time! I lost food from the referigrator and asked what I should do about recovering my loss. Was told by tech to call customer service. Customer service told me to call the manufactor. When I said the box was about 7 to 10 years old they weren't going to do anything and it was their fault. I didn't get a response. I then said I would call Dick VanDyke back she indicated it wouldn't do any good they wouldn't do anything! Is this how you run your business? I have used Dick Van Dyke for 30 years but will not in the future, and I will tell everyone I meet to not use your service!!!!!! Took two hours to install dishwasher. We had taken the old one out and had it ready for installation. 12/30/2012

Once it was installed, we tried it and water would not drain. We had to call a plumber on a Sunday to find out power to the pump was disconnected.
