We give you 5 stars across the board! From the moment I walked into the Decatur store and spoke to Robert Green my salesman to the delivery of our new stove by Richard! Richard determined our stove was 20-30 years old and was patient while my husband and I questioned if we should keep the original connector from the old stove or purchase a new one. He is a hard working young Marine who has served our country well. We are pleased with our purchase and as we are the 3rd owner in our West-end home so is our new stove! The salesman (Doug) was very helpful and knowledgeable and when I finally decided on which one I would buy, all costs were explained to me and I love that the delivery/installer/repair man calls 30 minutes away, so I didn't have to take whole afternoon off, just met him at my house for my lunch break. It makes it so easy. Shawn was very courteous and friendly, and cleaned up after himself. more

The salesman (Lee) was very helpful. He spent a lot of time offering me several options for a dishwasher. He did not pressure me at all. I therefore went out to my car, called my husband in Lincoln and came back into the store to make my purchase. We have already used the dishwasher and it does an excellent job. more

It's not really free! 11/5/2012

You see it when you walk in the door. "FREE 5/10 YEAR PROTECTION PLAN." You see it on their brochures. "FREE 5/10 YEAR PROTECTION PLAN." You see it on every Sales persons' business card. "HOME OF THE FREE 5/10 YEAR PROTECTION PLAN." You hear it on their radio ads. "FREE 5/10 YEAR PROTECTION PLAN." The only problem is, it isn't really free. Allow me to give you the perfect scenario. My wife and I went to Dick Van Dyke to look for a dryer. Our sales person was helpful and courteous. As part of his effort to sell us then and there, he promoted the "FREE 5/10 Year protection plan. We decided to do some comparison shopping at competitors. That same evening we found the identical dryer at a competitor for $58 less as well as free delivery and haul away(an additional savings of $45.) When I called our Dick Van Dyke sales person the next day and asked if they would match the competitors offer, we would told "Yes, but we would not get the FREE 5/10 YEAR PROTECTION PPLAN." I asked how I lost something that was supposedly free. The answer: It's only free if you pay our listed price for the dryer. Now if you want this "free" item, you will need to pay $95. Two telephone calls from me to Dennis Reiking, the company President, were not returned. So you see, IT REALLY ISN'T FREE, it is simply built into the price. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: We do have a FREE 5/10 Year Protection Plan on most of our appliances that we sell. We base everything on what the manufacture suggested retail price is. The dryer that you purchased from us has a MSRP price of $649.00 We sell this dryer for $598.99. That is $50.00 below the MSRP price of $649.99. In our deal at Dick Van Dyke Appliance World we also include the FREE 5/10 Protection Plan. A competitor sells the same dryer at a price if $539.99 and you wanted us to match the deal, so we matched the deal. The competition also sells a 5 Year Warranty for $129.99. Adding the cost of the warranty to the selling price of $539.99 brings a total to $669.98 That is $70.99 higher than our price that includes the FREE 5/10 Protection Plan. I hope this information will help you understand how our deal and Protection Plan compares us to the competition. We appreciate your business, and look forward to serving you again in the future. Good sales staff, good install, one negative fyi. 11/5/2012

The sales and installation personnel were excellent. The scheduling and actual installation experiences were also great. We have but one negative for you to watch for in the future. When the installer brought our range into the house, he put several large, deep gouges in the framing of our back door. It will cause me a good bit of work to patch, sand & paint these spots. Greater care is needed when getting the appliances through the door. Fourth and fifth major appliances from this store 10/30/2012

We have had only good appliances and installation service for three other major appliances in the family from Dick Van Dyke in Champaign, IL over the last seven years. We decided to come back to replace our washer/dryer set which was over 30 years old (Maytag). We weren't pressured, our questions were answered or the information quickly gotten, and we chose products that meet our needs. This has been another good experience that bolsters our confidence in this store and its products. more

Sales experience was great; delivery was not. 10/25/2012

Greg did an excellent job answering our questions about refrigerators. He was knowledgable and professional. We would definitely visit with him again on our next purchase. The person who delivered the new refrigerator the next day was the opposite of what we have experienced over the years at Dick VanDyke. He was not professional, did little to be friendly, and didn't clean up after himself. We have never experienced this from Dick VanDyke before. This is not a good way to follow up an excellent sales experience. Replacing rather than repairing a front-load washer. 10/24/2012

A service repair call informed me it would cost $800-900 to repair my front loading washer. I went to the store where I was helped by a very well-informed lady and purchased a brand new washer for less than the repair was going to cost. The machine was delivered when promised and I'm very pleased with it. It's been a long time since I've had a top load machine and I'm wondering why - I love it! more

Washer repair 10/22/2012

Our washer has broken down again. Seems that the sameday service has gone out the window, we called an had to wait two days for the serviceman to come. Then it turns that we had a major repair, both the tubs had to be replaced. That took a week to get and it took over 2 hours to repair. When they were finally done the machine still wasn't repaired and we were told that we had to wait another week. A week went by and we still hadn't heard anything, so we called. We were told that the parts were in and would have to be delivered by a seperate truck. They were going to deliver on monday, but then told us that they would not beable until wed.. When wednesday came around no word, so we called again at 4pm after staying around all day waiting. We were told that they didn't no what was going on, and would have the serviceman call us. When he called he said that parts was supposed to call us and let us no that they ordered the wrong part, which we had already figures out. So the repairman said he would get it overnight and that when it came in we would be his first service call. So on friday we called to see if parts was in, it was and we were told that we couldn't have it done until monday. What happened to first service call, now the washer is working, but leaking. Again I am told not until wednesday, not the sameday or the next but wednesday. So I asked for tuesday and she finally agreed but couldn't tell me what time, so here we are waitng again. We have had problems with this washer from the begining. Especially with viberations, I mean the washer would walk across the floor, they tried to tell me its because of our flooring. The service man this time stated that is possible the the tub was bent from the begining. I don't know why on this type of repair they just didn't replace the washer. Also we left 4 messages with customer service for a manager to call us, this never happened not once. Very disappointed customers. We do strive to do same day service which would be service within 24 hours of your call to our customer service department. The same day service will apply to the initial diagnosis of the appliance, not for repairs or delivery of parts. Our technician came out and diagnosed the problem that you were having with your washer. He found that it needed a new outer tub ring. Our service department had set up for us to come there and deliver the parts on 10/08/12. We were unable to reach you on 10/8/12 when our installer was on his way to your residence. We then tried to work within your schedule requirements and set the new delivery date for 10/17/12. I do apologize that in the ordering of the second part for the bolt and pulley, the wrong part was ordered. However, we were able to have the correct part the next day and we completed the repair. I personally want to thank you for choosing Dick Van Dyke Appliance World and hope that you will continue to do business with us. I am very sorry you had to go through these difficulties. Dependability of warranty 10/18/2012

I have spent thousands of dollars at Dick Van Dyke Appliance World since buying my first house. They have been a very good company to deal with until now! A washer we bought from them two years ago almost to the day has stopped working. The service tech has came out to the house multiple times and has done a great job trying to fix the washer with no results. This service tech has went through every step of diagnosis while on the phone with the manufacturer themselves. Now after not working for weeks and catching on fire the service manager informs me that this is all under one complaint and does not qualify for "No Lemon" warranty!!!! So they are going to send another service tech out!!!! This company has easily spent enough money to buy this washer with the multiple trips out they replaced the main control board and the main capacitor (after it melted down releasing molten metal out)!!!!! Basically after this experience I don't think we will be buying from them ever again!!! Had a big problem with the install people----my on/off water valve was bad for my dishwasher so the told my wife I had to replace, That was fine but the water leaked all over the place by the time I got hom 2 hours later-----What a mess!!!! Purchased a GE Washer and Dryer 10/15/2012

Dick Van Dyke service was great! No complaints there, but the washing machine I purchased was the worst machine I have ever had. It does not wash my clothes like my old Maytag! Once you set it, you cannot make a change without it completely draining the machine...what's with that? I hate this machine! Really irritated with installation 10/13/2012

Bought dishwasher and didn't argue about the price. Paid the $65.00 for installation. I specifically asked if there were going to be any other charges for installation. I was told that if a fitting was needed to attach water line that I would be charged for that. Okay no problem a couple of bucks. Installer installed the dishwasher and said he couldn't connect to my water line. I had a half inch nipple on a ball valve. Said he can only hook up to copper line. I would have to get an adapter and hook the line up myself. Then he said I owed $10.42 for the water line from the dishwasher to my water line. Hidden charge. I specifically asked if the water line he installed had normal pipe threads so I could get the correct fitting. Got a half inch to three eights adapter and tried to install it and low and behold the threads on the water line were not pipe thread. Had to go to Dick Van Dyke to find out what type of threads the water line was. Turned out to be compression. When I complained to the store manager he said they only connect to copper and there was nothing he could do. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: I apologize your dishwasher installation didnt go as smoothly as you had hoped it would. We try to have the most commonly used installation parts on our trucks. However, we are unable to carry every unique plumbing part that may be needed. We inform all of our customers at the point of sale when we fill out our installation guidelines that we arent plumbers, carpenters, or electricians. Our installation guidelines clearly state that a dishwasher installation may take up to 3 hours and have a maximum of thirty dollars in installation charges. We give every customer a copy of his or her guidelines at the point of sale. It appears the plumbing to your dishwasher wasnt a standard size. Therefore, we would have recommended contacting a plumber to finish the water line installation. We apologize that you feel we hide charges from you, but my records indicate that you were given all of the necessary information. We appreciate your business and hope to earn your future patronage. One mishap after another. 10/11/2012

After our refrigerator quit, we quickly found out from your service man it needed replaced. After picking out a new one in the store, we were at the desk ready to pay and the salesmen said it wasn't available for over 2 weeks. Then, he "possibly" found one that could be delievered the next day. After being told our elevated refrigerator is no problem and a $10 re-routing fee because I wasn't available for an hour the next day, the delivery guy walked in and said there was no way he would install it by himself. It was left in our dining room for 5 days until my scheduled allowed me to be home for 5 hours, waiting for someone to show up and no one did. We received no explanation and I had to be available another 3 hours the following day to get it "partially" installed. The 2nd delivery guy left too early and the other guy could not get it all the way pushed in. Our neighbor came over that night to help my husband finish the job. And yes, we paid a delivery fee! more
