Very Good Sales and Pricing Experience, problem with install 7/14/2012

We purchased four appliances and were very pleased with how the salesperson worked with us to secure optimum pricing and would rate that part of the experience 5 STARS. The reason for the average 3 STAR ratings is: Two of the appliances were installed correctly the first time. After the installers left, we noticed the refrigerator was out of balance front to back by about 2". DVD was quick to send someone back out to remedy the problem. Then, a few days later, we noticed that the balancing feet on the range were not even attached to the range and there was definitely a dent in one side of the range. Neither one of these things were visible by just looking at the range but as soon as we pulled out the warming drawer, it was apparent the appliance was damaged. We were disappointed that the original installers did not notice this and initiate remedy. Our call to DVD resulted in a visit from an inspector and subsequently installation of a different new range. We are pleased with the outcome and how the DVD store and service personnel responded to our problems but are disappointed that it took four different service calls to get our appliances installed correctly. more

I bought $2200 washer and dryer 7/13/2012

I was informed, by installer, they needed part to make steam functions work and they would return to install next week. After no call for a couple of weeks I called again, again told they would fix It's now been week's I waited for chris nearly 30 minutes on hold Again they said they would be out tommorow, no wait today. Yeah that's the ticket Refused to provide me with number to call regional manager. Service is like box store. Two Speed Queen dryers broke within first week. Lousy service on 2nd break down. 7/12/2012

Bought a Speed Queen dryer a year ago and it broke within 24 hours. It was repaired quickly. Bought a 2nd Speed Queen dryer last week and it broke within one week. Wasn't serviced the same day we called, the day after we called, but two days later I had to call to see if we were even on the schedule for repair. As of this writing, still not fixed. I don't feel like buying from DVD gave us any priority when my dryer broke down within the first week. Bummer!! Did not complete same delivery when puchased before noon 7/10/2012

Called Dick Van Dyke on a Friday morning at approximately 9am for a service call. They indicated the soonest they could have someone out was the following Tuesday. When I mentioned there ad indicated if request for service was called before noon, service was guaranteed the same day. The service rep then indicated they did have an opening for that day. Technician arrived later that day at 4pm and informed me the motor would need replaced. I opted to receive a $25 certificate towards the purchase of new appliance from Dick Van Dyke. Purchased a new appliance by 10 the next day. They however could not deliver the same day because the merchandise was in the Springfield store. Disappointed they could not deliver on their promise of same day delivery. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: we apologize for any inconvenience that we may caused by not delivering your appliance the same day it was purchased. Our advertising states that we offer "same day delivery" on in-stock items. Unfortunately your appliance wasn't available locally and it required an extra day to get the appliance and deliver it. Will never buy appliances anywhere else!!! 7/8/2012

We bought our dryer from Dick Van Dyke's last Fall when our old one went out. This was the last stop looking for something high-end without the price of something high-end. Russ at the Bloomington store understood our needs and exceeded our expectations in service. We walked out feeling like we had paid a very reasonable price for the exact appliance we were looking for. So when we were ready to replace the washer 6 months later, we didn't even look anywhere else! Again, same excellent service with Russ and again, a very good price on a great washer! I say again: we will never go anywhere else for our appliance needs! more

Dealt with Russell Werfelman in the Bloomington store. Outstanding salesman. Answered emails very promptly and really took care of us. He even answered an email that I sent him and it was his day off!! I told him I wanted to buy from a place that we could get service from and not the run around. I believe we have found that place! I was very pleased with my purchase and service. Delivery couldn't be made for three days, which included the weekend, but this was understandable. What I didn't like was waiting in my house all afternoon for the delivery and then not having the delivery until 7:00 p.m. that evening. more


Damaged appliance delivered, driver broke limbs off trees 6/18/2012

Damaged appliance delivered and after three weeks have not repaired. Driver broke limbs off tree and put in neighbor's ditch. Owner has refused to return phone call to wife or I after store manager and salesperson have not responded. Have paperwork from driver stating that he delivered damaged product. Door wasn't switched on washer as we requested and they charged us another $18 on top of delivery because they had to switch hook up because of their mistake. Driver asked if he could leave garbage in middle of garage and after all the bs we just wanted him to leave. I reluctantly went shopping for a new refrigerator after my 40 year old one was to costly to repair. So I started at your store and was determined to visit 3 other places to see if you had the best price. Got to talking to the owner and realized that I had grown up with his uncle in school MANY years ago. So I went to the other 3 places and came back and bought at your store. They delivered it when they said they would but being over 90 years old I have the right to complain about the quality of the new old compared to the old one. They put the handles on the wrong side and I didn't realize it until they left. So I called back to have them come back out and change the handles but never got a call back. So I had the neighbor change the handles for me (quite a job). I think you should give customers a call back and see if everything was to their satisfaction. I promised my daughter that I would quit complaining about how much better I liked my 40 years old one to this new one.
