Lots of Knowledge, No Pressure 1/30/2012

I purchased a Bosch Dishwasher from DVD and was thoroughly impressed with the Jeff and Bob the salesmen I spoke with. Each helped me narrow my choices and provided me with good information while not pressuring me at all. I comparison shopped and found DVD's prices the best in the area as well as cheaper than Amazon.com or big box stores and they throw in a free 5 year warranty. No need to buy an extended service contract like othjers want to sell you. I was also extremely pleased with Aaron who installed the dishwasher. He has been doing this for 13 years and he had no wasted motion whatsoever. It was fun to watch him work. He had my old dishwasher out and the new one installed in less than an hour. Best customer service I have experienced in many years, maybe ever! more


Delivery of a frig 1/27/2012

Frank did a really great job. Obviously is dedicated to make such a late delivery. 8:00 pm. I asked why was it so late. Frank said the other driver got off at 1:30 pm today. Unfortunately, some locations may be busier than other locations which may cause an installer to work later than normal. Frank was the installer that delivered my new refrigerator. I had just had new flooring installed last week and he was so careful not to scratch the floor while bringing in the new refrigerator. He did his work very quickly and is a very professional young man. Also, Doug was my salesman and he was very helpful and worked with me to select the right refrigerator for my needs. more

Unhappy 1/25/2012

The sales person told us we could install a dishwasher and suggested a more expensive model for side mount.I had told him that it was not possible but he made me feel like an idiot so we bought the more expensive. Model and sure enough it could not be installed.The dishwasher I wanted was less money and had more features but could only be top mounted.Guess what that is exactly what we got. I am very disappointed with this whole experience.We have always gone to dick van dyke for the nine years we have lived in Springfield but now I am not so sure. I feel like I was railroaded into a bad decision .The installer was a dream and tried to help me understand how my husband could reinstall the dishwasher.It only cost us 100.00 more for less features.I will be more careful in the future.Now I must deal with being dissatisfied ! RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: This dishwasher that you purchased from us can be side mounted if you have granite countertops, or top mounted, if you have formica countertops. No additional kit is needed. We want you to be happy with your new dishwasher. We can send our specialty installer to your home to look at your cabinets, and give some suggestions on the installation, at no charge to you.
I want to remind you that the model you purchased from us has a fifty dollar mail in rebate. After the rebate, you paid a difference of twenty dollars over the other model that you looked at. For the extra twenty dollars, you get a stainless steel tub, steam pre-wash option, and full extension racks that glide smoothly on ball bearings for easy loading.

Satisfied Customer so far. 1/22/2012

I bought a GE washer and dryer. Was very satisfied with the initial installation and service. It was delivered on time and the installer checked to make sure both the dryer and washer were working properly before he left. The installer answered my questions and moved the hinge on the dryer door from the right to left side (I appreciate that he suggested this to me). I will buy from Dick Van Dyke again. more

Excellent sales experience; perfect installation 1/21/2012

I was lucky enough to stop by the Champaign store the day when 2 LG reps were visiting and got an hour long education on their washers and dryers - I was sold on them before I came into the store (I had already researched my impending purchase online), but now had no doubt about what I wanted. From then, Billy Williams assisted me in pricing and, when he was unavailable and I needed to get the set ordered, Darrell filled in for Billy. Their efficiency in getting the new washer and dryer to my house after my set had quit unexpectedly nothing short of a miracle, and very much appreciated. The delivery guys were polite, professional and did not even make a frown when they saw the flight of stairs they had to take to the second floor to install my new washer and dryer (with a turn and landing halfway up), not to mention haul the old ones down. It was no easy task and the installation was finished in about an hour. I will definitely recommend this store for appliance purchases. more

New upright freezer for baasement use 1/15/2012

I have a small doorway to install new equipment and the delivery was great even though the doors had to be removed and a sharp U turn was maade to get the freezer in the basement. These guys were great ! more

New Dishwasher 1/13/2012

We were referred Dick Van Dyke by family members who had great experiances. We were extremely pleased with the sales people and the selection on hand. All of our questions were answered and we didn't feel pressured to purchase at any time. The dishwasher we bought was in stock and delivered/installed the very next day before 2pm. The installer was very professional and did a great job. He did leave a little bit of trash behind that I had to clean up but not a huge deal. Overall a great experiance. more

I always get the best service with Dick Van Dyke. I get the best value for the best price and am always happy with the end results. My appliances are still running strong after 15 years. Even though my old washer/dryer combo was still working I upgraded to a more efficient model. more

Overall horrible experience 1/4/2012

I have had problems with the washer I have ever since we bought it. The thing has been rebuilt several times over and over again and we spent over $1000 for this washer. It was supposed to be state of the art a few years ago when we bought it. I do not blame Dick Van Dyke for lack of quality of my washer. I am very upset in the way I have been treated in regards to the service I've received. Several months ago when it broke down, I called and tried to get a service call. You know, that "same day service" they tout on their radio commercials? Yeah, it was several days before someone came out. Then of course they didn't have the part. So when they got the part it was already TWICE I had to take off work. Then they "fixed" it. For it to only not be fixed. Then they ordered another part, but because it was around Thanksgiving I of course had to wait again. In all this time I had to go to the laundry mat twice and spend a LOT of money both times to do a family of 4 laundry as well as the laundry of company I had for the holiday. They came out and fixed it again, only for it not to be fixed. This time it was making a really loud sound, like a jackhammer going off in the house. The tech assured us that in time this noise would go away. So we gave it several weeks for the noise to only get worse. We call, of course they can't come out right away. They come out and tell me they don't hear the noise. A minute after he left the noise was there. I ran out and got the guy before he left. He came back in and tried to tell me it was the way I had my clothes in the washer, even though this noise has been going on for a long time now and I put the clothes in the washer the same way I have for years. He says he will "re-order" a part and get back to me when it comes in. Of course this is near New Years so I have to wait even longer. After he left I did a load, because the tech said I could continue to use it. I went about my business around the house with the kids to only find water all over my floor and later finding out the water leaked all the way into the basement and damaged my ceiling. We also realized at that time the tech must have damaged a cable connecting the washer to the dryer. I cleaned up the water, called the tech and left a message. I received a call at 10:30 at night (when my kids were asleep) to talk to me about it and said they would have the tech come out again the next day and look at it so they could order ALL the parts needed at once. I received a call on Monday, January 2 by the customer relations person to be told they will replace the washer (after hundreds of dollars of repairs and us asking why not give us the money to buy a new washer instead of continuing to waste everyone's time, money, and having to take off work for them to come out). I was told to come in and pick one out in the same range as the cost of the one I originally purchased. So I did. After several back and forth messages I have been told today the earliest they could deliver it to me is next Monday, January 9. That is terrible, terrible customer service. I haven't even begun to explain how poorly I have been treated, the damage caused to my basement ceiling, the money spent at the laundry mat for all the times I've had to go (and will have to until January 9), the vacation time I've had to take off of work for them to come out NUMEROUS times only to be told "we are doing the best we can and it won't be until next week". I will never, ever recommend this company to anyone. I was always someone who said "Go to Dick Van Dyke, don't waste your money anywhere else". I will not be that person ever again. Being that we cannot go any longer than we've already have (its been since the before new years eve without a washer, my husband called and asked if we could at least come pick it up and they said we could tomorrow. Really? Terrible service that WE have to come in there and pick it up because they can't deliver it until next week. Yet, their website says if I purchase it before noon I would get it delivered same day! I guess since I'm not purchasing a new one I don't deserve the same service. I'm not asking for the same service. I'm just asking something better than waiting 5 more days and the service I've received for months now. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: Dick Van Dyke Appliance World regrets any inconvenience we may have caused trying to repair your washer. Our protection plan states that we will replace your washer upon request if you have had 4 different mechanical failures within any twelve month period. We realize that having the four repairs can be inconvenient, but after the intial repair we were dealing with a noise issue, which didn't effect the operation of your machine. When the service requests met the requirements of our "NO LEMON" exchange we agreed to exchange your four year old washer at no cost to you. It is unfortunate that you will no longer do business with our company because we feel our protection plan saved you over $1000.00.
Again, we apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused during the repair of your washer.

Our refrigerator delivery/installation rep was Marcus. He was right on-time, courteous, and extremely efficient in his work. He installed our new, very large (& heavy) refrigerator in a very tight space efficiently. He moved all items carefully despite the heavy physical effort required. We had no choice of down draft ranges so we had to buy anothoer (THIRD JENN-AIR IN TWENTY TWO YEARS). The past two Jenn-Air units came with cartridges for the burners. When arriving at the Springfield Dick Van Dyke Appliance World show room the cartridges were in the unit we bought. When it arrived at our home for installation it only had the grill. When I called Michael Dalpozzo, the sales person,I was told at that time that the burner cartridges were extra. THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN WRITEN ON THE ORDER OR EXPLANED TO MY HUSBAND AND I AS WE STOOD IN FRONT OF THE UNIT. The installer was great. I question if I will buy from Dick Van Dyke in the future. Who ever heard of buying a range that did not come with electrical burners! more

Great First Experience! 12/28/2011

My husband and I just purchased our first home and needed to purchase our first washer and dryer. After researching information online, reading various review, and getting several recommendations for DVD we decided on DVD for our purchase. The service we received at DVD in Bloomington was AMAZING! Russ took the time to provide a great education on the differences between all the washers & dyers. We ended up with a fabulous set and an unbelievably competitive price. I will most definitely be a returning customer for any of my other appliance needs. more

great purchase experience 12/22/2011

We knew our washer was nearing it's end and had been looking at new w/d sets for a year at some of the large stores in the area. When it finally crashed we decided to check out DVD App. World in Bloomington and left knowing we got a competitive price and a great education on the appliances from an expert & knowledgeable salesman. He was not in the least bit pushy and took the time to understand our needs and price range. Delivery & installation was on time & the installer knew exactly what needed to be done.
