Great experience! 7/2/2014

Purchased my Bosch dishwasher from Andy Hoffman at the Bloomington Store. He understood my needs, made several recommendations and was able to get it installed before the holiday weekend. This is our first purchase at Dick Van Dyke, and we will be back when we need another appliance. I was very impressed with Andy and he is one of the reasons I purchased here instead of the other four stores I looked at. The installation process was equally outstanding. I received my call before 9:00 in the morning the day of to let me know my window, and then 30 minutes before arrival ( just as promised). James was very polite efficient and clean...I also highly recommend him. We will be sharing this great experience with family and friends! more

Good experience 7/2/2014

Just had a new washer and drier delivered. Mark and Steve were obviously very experienced in delivery and set-up. They were in and out in about 1/2 hour and left everything clean and neat. The sales person, Lee, in the Bloomington store was very knowledgeab le and explained things well. Overall a good experience. more

Once again DVD 's rises to the opportunity to satisfy the customer, me. In springfield we have some great appliance stores with good staff. I go to 3 stores, check stock and deals. A GAS DRYER and DVD's the only place with 1 in stock on site. Worked with me to a good and fair deal. more

The bad: The washer is a lemon, The good: 5-year warranty 6/24/2014

In 2009 we bought a GE Profile topload washing machine from DVD. Within 2 months, we had them out for the first repairs on the machine. Three months and several repairs later (shocks, balance ring, mode shifter, split ring, inner tub), GE finally replaced the entire unit. Less than 2 years after that, DVD was back out to replace the mode shifter and motor on the new unit. Fast forward a few years, and it's breaking every month. Two months ago, it was the mode shifter (again!). Last month, the motor (again!). Now, it's a communication board (and water is leaking from somewhere). All this for a washer (actually two, since the first was replaced within 6 months) that's less than 5 years old! Of course, every time it breaks, we have to schedule a service call to diagnose it. Then it's 5 business days for the parts to come in, followed by scheduling another service call. So, the washer is down for 1-2 weeks every time it breaks. The only upside is that the washer came with a 5-year warranty from DVD, so at least I don't have to pay for the service calls. more

Fantastic Service on Dishwasher 6/24/2014

We purchased a dishwasher from DVD and the young men that brought it to our home and installed it were Fantastic!! These guys were neat, great personalities, informative, and polite. We seldom find that kind of service anymore. Give these guys a pay raise, they are making you look really good!! more

I can't say enough good things about your employees. Our first encounter was with the service technician. Second, was the salesman at the store and finally the installation technician. All were very knowledgeable, courteous and anxious to assist with the problem at hand and subsequent purchase of a new unit. more

The gentlemen who delivered my combination washer dryer were excellent. It went into a basement with tight corners, narrow stairway, and low ceilings. I didn't catch their names, but they deserve kudos for the great job. They were very polite, knowledgeable about doing a difficult install and about the product. Thanks again. more

purchase and installation of cook top and dishwasher 6/13/2014

Very disappointed and still no resolution. 1. Purchased Induction cook top and GE Dishwasher April 14 2.Installation April 24. Found out we needed 40 Amp Service and had 3. 30AMP (salesman says all cook tops need 40 AMP now and assumed we had 40 AMP. Never asked us, Installer info contradicted this). 4.We had Electrician in next day. Could not get reschedule until 6 May. 5. 6 May-Installer showed up though we had a slide in range and had it on hand. Had to reschedule for 13 May. Without a functional cook top for 2 1/2 weeks. 6. 13 May installed and very nice installer. Dishwasher Installed 24 April but not under the counter because they did not have a special bracket for Granite counters. Never mentioned by Sales man. Installer said simple fix. I have contacted the salesman Bob Green 5 times now with the last being 2 weeks ago and still the dishwasher protrudes from the counter. If we don't get this taken care of ASAP I want you to come, disconnect it and return it. The salesman sold it to us because it was suppose to be under the cabinet. The shoe experience has been very unpleasant. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: Mr. Weber I apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused with your recent appliance purchase. I have spoken to your salesman about your appliance purchase. The issues you experienced with the electrical supply is outlined in the installations instructions. I apologize if my salesman neglected to share with you the electrical requirements of your new cooktop. We typically find that the contractor working in your home reviews the electrical requirements and makes all the necessary changes prior to our arrival. When we installed your dishwasher we side mounted the appliance to the cabinets in accordance with manufacture specifications. However, after the installation was completed you wanted more of a flush mount installation. The flush mount installation requires the granite countertop company to install a securing mechanism under the countertop. We value your business and hope to resolve this issue for you in a timely manner. Therefore, we contacted a countertop company and purchased the mounting installation hardware to complete the installation to your satisfaction. Thank you for your patience and your future patronage. Very unhappy/dissatisfied with this company. 6/12/2014

My husband & I have bought our appliances from Dick Van Dyke for many years. We don't even bother to shop around; we have just gone there. Why? The extended warranty as advertised on their TV ads, and their prompt service calls. Unfortunately, this opinion has changed in the last month. In 2012, I went to Dick Van Dyke to buy a washer & dryer. I had always had Whirlpool and intended to buy that brand. When I told the salesman, Mr. Green, what I wanted, he proceeded to tell me that the company no longer carried the extended guarantee on that brand because the of its poor quality. I explained to him that the extended warranty was very important so thought I needed to look at another brand. He showed me several; I selected what I wanted, bought the washer & dryer, and set up the delivery date assuming I was buying appliances with the extended warranty. I had a service call on May 31/June 1. The service technician looked at my machine and before repairing it, told me it did not have it did not have the extended warranty which shocked me because I was sure I did. My machine was on sale (not a price matcher) but I had made it clear to the salesman that the extended warranty was very important to me. After a call to the service people and a visit to the Decatur store where I asked to speak to the manager who was too busy to speak with me, I was told that those particular machines were not covered by their extended warranty program. At the time of the sale, I was never told they did not have an extended warranty included because it is very likely I would have bought something else. I find this very disturbing. During the service call, the technician did a re-calibration hoping that would fix the problem instead of replacing a part since I no longer had a warranty. After about a week, the machine was having the same problem. In the yellow pages, Dick Van Dyke advertises "same day service." Again, not true. I called service on Wednesday late afternoon, not expecting anyone to come out until the next day. The woman on the phone told me the soonest a technician would be in the area would be Saturday! I said, "Your ad says same day service! How can it be that I can't get a call until Saturday?!" She said a technician was in the hospital, and there were just a lot of things going on. What is that all about? I am very dissatisfied with this company--I feel I was misled by the salesman, Mr. Green, I am put out that the manager couldn't take five minutes to speak with me, and now I can't get a service technician for 3 days. My husband and I cannot see any advantage to doing business with this company in the future. All the advantages promised in television and newspaper advertising are no longer true. We will go to the "big box store" for a lower price and it would seem equally good service. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: I apologize that you feel we misrepresented our warranty during the purchase of your machine. After reviewing your invoice it appears you purchased the appliances with over $100.00 worth of sales reductions. Therefore, our warranty wouldnt be offered after lowering the price of the appliance to obtain your business. Our exclusive five year ten year warranty replaces any mechanical part that is defective within 5 years of the date of purchase. We have never offered our exclusive warranty on appliances that were sold with major price reductions. Therefore, I believe in 2012 when you purchased your appliances you opted to select the price reduction over the protection plan. I further reviewed your account and it appears you have purchased other appliances without the 5 year 10 year warranty to receive the deeper discount. I appreciate your patronage and loyalty to our company, but unfortunately we will not be able to cover your appliances under our warranty. Thank you for your business. Poor Service 6/9/2014

Same day service GUARANTEED! MY $@!#%!!!!!! I just called noting the time that it is 10:35am Friday and can NOT get a tech out here until TUESDAY AFTER NOON!!!!! I have had a tech out here for the same issue on my washer 3 other times in the last 6 months...but I will not qualify for a replacement due to the fact it has NOT been 4 DIFFERENT problems!!!!! Pretty sure if a washer wont spin out all the water it makes it pretty pointless to use.....i have purchased a washer, dryer, fridge, dishwasher and $3000 stove from dick van dyke and am VERY Disappointed in the service of the any aftermath situations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have researched the service history on your washing machine and it appears we are replacing the transmission, motor and belt. POOR SERVICE 6/7/2014

I like the product but i hate the delivery service. They delivered my washer and dryer but found out that my vinyl siding is broken from the door knob of my storm door after they left. They let me sign the waiver too early not even done installing my item yet. i contacted them re: my concern and not covering or paying anything. I end up paying the damage they made. It is unusual to hear this type of complaint about my installation department. We have many procedures in place to document any damages. We have a form called the pre-inspection and post-inspection form that all of our customers are required to sign when we complete our installation. The form is used to inspect the delivery path and installation location for any damages after installation. My records indicate you signed the form agreeing that we didnt damage your home or the appliance during the installation process. We appreciate your patronage, but we are unwilling to pay for a repair that may have been caused by someone other than a Dick Van Dyke Inc. employee. Thanks again for your business. Terrible Customer Service 6/4/2014

Completely incompetent salesperson who ordered appliances that did not fit in designated cutouts. The installation team left me with a leaking dishwasher and refrigerator with subsequent ceiling damage below. They still have not been able to deliver and install a properly functioning microwave. Staff is not polite or professional. They have too many deficiencies across the board. more
