From the time we entered the store in Bloomington, to the delivery and installation, we had a great experience. First, our sales agent Russ asked us about our situation and needs. He was warm, very informative and helpful, not pushy. Pricing for our dishwasher was competitive and the Dick Van Dyke warranty was a major factor in our decision to purchase there. Our installer Harold was clean, neat, and professional. It was readily evident that he is well experienced and very efficient at his craft. Jeff sold me the GE washer and Shawn installed it and both men were very nice, not pushy, professional and did a fine job. Would recommend buying an appliance with Jeff anyday. And if possible get Shawn to do the installation. more

We worked with David Hawkins and we left and told him we would come back. When we came back he was working on something else and yet someone else helped us WITHOUT hesitation and still gave David the credit which I felt was first rate. They were very knowledgeable about the washer and dryer that we bought. Lyle was our delivery and installation person and he did an OUSTANDING job!! We were very impressed with his understanding of the equipment and how instead of saying I can't do that he looked for ways to get our washer and dryer into the room they needed to go into. He was very polite and courteous! We will definitely be going there for any other major appliance purchases due to the customer service!!! more

Stove & Microwave Installation. 11/29/2013

I would like to make sure that Lyle, service tech, is recognized for his excellent service. He installed my new stove, was more than polite, knowledgeable, he went the extra steps, he also did a followup call to ensure my concerns over the micorwave were answered. He is an exemplary employee. It's employees like Lyle, Shane &, Salesman like Dave, who keep ua as returning customers. I would also like to include Shane (specialty install serviceman) who made our install doable in a time of need. He is an expert in his area & very professional. Both Lyle & Shane added a personal touch... they excel in customer communication & service and should be recognized for their efforts. more

Bad experiance with Fisher&paykel dryer and service department 11/17/2013

Picked up new Fisher & Pykel washer on a Sunday, they had to orderthe Gas dryer, when I turned on fill with water, then when it transfered water, It did all over my floor, had a a bad hose on it from factory, had DVD send guy out to repair, did not have part, now I am 2 days with out washer, them they called a week later said dryer was in, went to get, it was a electric dryer, once again waited for a gas dryer, when we hooked up, seemed a little loud and noise, I asked the sales man if the top load dryer had had the bearings fixed, that I had seen people had bad issues with them, but once again DVD had to come out 3 times to try to fix the bearing issue on my dryer also, wanted to give me a complete new dryer, I said no I wanted a different dryer or my money back. they would not do that, so I called Fisher&Paykel, after 3 calls they finally convinced DVD to give me store credit, I went inPurchased new Speed Quen washer and dryer off DVD, kep the Fisher&Paykel washer will sell or give it away myself, Service wanted to deliver the Speed Queen, this was a bad Idea, when they got there they backed a Big Deivey truck on my cement drive and droped the tail gate down with a big bang, then they started nto remove my Fisher Paykel washer and dryer, the mover they used was grease layden all over it and scratched front my washer and dryer, need less to say may new Speed Queen done the same way, when they leveled and hooked dryer up, the guy doing it srached and gouged my white walls, need less to say all we wanted to do is get him out of our house, Speed Queen seems to be a better machine more

Service is unacceptable 11/3/2013

We are now at day 5 without a working fridge and their 24/7 emergency service is non-existent... I wish their service was how they advertise it on the radio and in the store. We purchased our fridge just 8 months ago. It was a relatively expensive one. Lowes, Sears and most other stores sold the same one but we purchased at dick van dyke because of their warranty and service the advertised. So 8 months after purchasing it the freezer started to act up and the temp kept dropping it would not stop cooling. We called for service on Tuesday and they wanted to come on Friday to look at it, my wife got them to come out the next day. The tech shows up on Wednesday and said they have had troubles with this model and it needs a circuit board. We also mention the ise maker does not shut off soon enough and ice overfills the tub ( this was more of an inconvenience, we just had to manually turn on and off the ice maker - we are not big ice users anyway) so he said he will order a timer. Thursday am we wake up to find the fridge now has stopped working and is up to 57F. We call the service dept and they say no parts have even been ordered yet, they said it would be at least more days to get the parts then schedule the install. After about 20 min of talking with the service dept they finally said they would get the parts sent over night. ( we have a 11 week old baby that cannot latch so we need a place to store breast milk safely which the service depart wen cared nothihing about ). Also I asked about the spoiled food coverage and what we needed to do to have that covered. They told us we had to save all the spoiled food for the tech to verify when he came out, pictures would not suffice. Really keep spoiled food in a 60F fridge to make an even bigger mess for us to clean. We lost way more than the $100 their warranty states they would cover. So on Friday the tech shows up with only the circuit board, there were 2 parts they originally said they needed yet they only overnight shipped one? So he installs the board and the screen on the fridge says error. He tells us it will take. 24 hours for the board to reset and the fridge to cool down. (That did not soud right because when we got it new it just plugged in and there was no error on the screen, in 6 hours the temps were all fine. ) Weil there error never went away and neither the fridge nor freezer cooled. I called service, they said they needed to wait for the ice maker part to come back out. Really? Who cares about the ice if it won't even get cold enough anyway. I thought it was mis diagnosed or the cooling repair was messed up and wanted a tech to come and just get it cooling. They said not till Monday and only if if the ice maker part came in. So I had to buy a mini fridge so we could safely keep our baby's milk somewhere. We can't cook anything because we have no where to keep any staples or left overs that need cooling. To add to my frustration I went to the store we purchased it from and they kept saying the service people have to wait on parts and their hours are only what they are. The 24/7 emergence service is not an option. All we want is a working fridge. I mentioned we were so frustrated by the service we would post it on Facebook, the sales person said go ahead, another example about this company not caring. Their techs cannot get ours working and they will not give us a new one. The service dept did just offer to bring a loaner fridge out for us to keep in our garage on Monday. Though we would have to wait 24 hours for it to cool down and would have to clean it before and after. We have no room in the garage. Plus would we really want to clean a before we use it and after rather than just use ours. We are stuck now 5 days without a working fridge. The parts they ordered are likely not going to get it cooling since they are for the ice maker. Sorry to be long winded but this is what happened, no one at the company really cared and did any thing, so buyer beware. We did purchase a stove at Sears and it had a problem and rather than wait for parts and diagnosing it they simply replaced it with a new one ASAP, we were only down for 2 days with them. Dick van dyke needs to look at their competition and learn. more

surprised 11/3/2013

completely surprised that the delivery tech did not plan to turn on either the washer or dryer to ensure machines were working properly before he left. I believe he was taken back when I asked he to show me that they both worked before he left. Tech also made mention not to try to remove tape/stickers before they were warmed up in the home for a few hours, or "you will have a mess". but the tech was the one to try to remove several of the stickers/tape leaving us over an hour of work trying to remove the glue off our machines. Unfortunately, with the limited amount of information in your review, I am unable to find your sales invoice. Bad bad experience! 10/26/2013

I bought three things - washer, dryer and dishwasher. And I had several purchases with DVD going back several years. After receiving delivery, the washer didn't spin out and the dishwasher had a huge dent in it. Though I bought some items scratch/dent my dishwasher was full price. I had to call three times for service. Once because though their hours are till 6, service department is not open that late but he was going to write it up for someone to call me. The third time I called to Springfield and finally got an appt one full week after delivery. The gal on the showroom floor who assisted me didn't remember seeing a dent in my full-price dishwasher, but regardless, no price adjustment because we signed off on delivery. So ok, I'm well within my rights to return it correct? Of course I could exchange it --for 20% restocking fee. Supposedly this place has the best service, and because of that you shouldn't shop the 'big box store'. Well, next time I have no reason to shop here because there is no way I'd recommend their service or staff. I will never shop here again and have told everyone I know to shop other places instead. Also, washer wouldn't spin out fully because of the installer. That service call was free because he didn't put it in right. Our installers are required to fill out a form indicating any damage to the home or appliance prior to leaving the residence. Your records indicate that you signed our form acknowledging the appliance was free of any cosmetic or manufacturing defects upon installation. Our goal is to satisfy every customer that we come in contact with, however, we are unable to exchange appliances that have been signed for with no damage at the time of delivery. Our Call Center hours are Monday thru Friday from 8am to 5pm and Saturday from 8am to 4pm. It appears our afterhours call center documented that you had called, but their records indicate that you opted to call back the next day to schedule service. The service when we got into the store was prompt and courteous. The salesman was wonderfully helpfuland showed us all different washers and dryers. After the sale he explained all the papers and rebates. We were however extrememly pleased with the delivery of our appliances and setup. He was awesome! more

Had to pay them twice for the same service. 10/23/2013

I had Dick Van Dyke replace my evaporative fan on my refrigerator as it was making a high-pitched squealing noise. 4 months later the fan starts making that same noise and the part is no longer under the 90 day labor warranty. However, the technician says that the part is still under its 1 year manufacture warranty and that I should be able to pick up the part and install it myself. So I call the parts department and they say that the parts warranty is only valid if I pay them for the labor to install it. Otherwise, I can buy the part and install it myself. I could understand if the parts warranty for the new fan would be void if I install it, but it makes no sense that the warranty on the fan that they already replaced is conditional upon them installing it again. more

I had just purchased a home a couple of months ago. It came with a green washer and dryer that had been made back when they made things to last. Over the weekend my dryer stopped working. As a mom of Twins that was not good. Went out to their store and a great salesman helped me find the perfect set to meet all my needs. He helped me get delivery set up right away. Out of everything I had done in fixing up process of the house this was the fastest delivery. Plus the James the man who delivered/installed them was very friendly. He made sure I understood everything and even made a suggestion to help me enjoy my purchase more. more

We had a refrigerator door that would not close. The tech diagnosed this as a bad seal and said the part would be ordered. 2 months later, still no word on the part. They forgot to place the order. After the seal came in, the tech installed it but then diagnosed the issue was the door cam instead and ordered the part. One week later after no word, now they said they had the wrong number to call us back upon. We are now in the process of buying a new house which requires new appliances. Based upon this experience I would not recommend Dick Van Dyke Appliance World. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: I sincerely regret that your service experience was less than exemplary. Greg the salesperson answered all our questions concerning the purchase of a new stove. After making our decision Greg checked the availability in the warehouse and set up delivery for the next day. We were contacted the next morning on the approximate time and the delivery man called when he was on the way. In 24 hours we made the purchase-had prompt and courteous delivery-very pleased. more
