Service call on old dryer and subsequent purchase of new dryer 1/17/2014

Both the service man and the delivery and installation man were very personable and easy to work with. I felt like the service man gave me good advice on what was needed and if the machine warranted spending the money. The installation was effortless. He needed additional venting, which he had on the truck and also needed a longer cord and he also had that available. Within three days I am back in service and very happy with Dick Van Dyke. more

We were very pleased with our entire experience. We felt as though we received a fair price, the sales personnel were knowledgeable, the installers come to our home a head of schedule and did a wonderful job. The total package (price, sales, installation) went as expected. Well done! more

Sales process great; Delivery and follow up regarding damage poor 1/15/2014

I researched appliances and stores before deciding to go with Dick Van Dyke's in Springfield. I went in to the store three separate occasions before I decided to go with them. Michael (sales staff) was very helpful both on the day I purchased the Washer/Dryer set and later to push the delivery forward because I was going to be out of town. However, when the set was delivered it was a Saturday (a day our forecast was set for a lot of snow) and the delivery guy who came alone may have been in a hurry. When he was finished he stood in front of the wall and door frame where he had scraped the frame and gouged two 1 1/2 to 2 in places in the wall. He said nothing about the damage. He hurried me through the signing the documents which included a damage waiver. He told me to let the appliances warm up before using and that the tape mess he left on the washer would come off after it warmed up. He left, I turned out the lights and left the laundry room. I didn't actually go back in the room until Sunday. At that time, I noticed the damage and realized the tape mess was not going to easily come off. Knowing the store is closed on Sunday, I waited until Monday to call. They were closed at that time due to the weather. I then called on Tuesday. In addition to speaking to the associate on the phone, I sent pictures when she provided an email address. Later in the week, I was told by Tiffany that I had waited to long to contact them. I explained to her that I contacted them as soon as they were open so I wasn't sure why that would be the issue. I have given the company over a week to make this right, to no avail. It is becoming increasingly frustrating. I would much rather be writing an entirely positive review. Unfortunately, the delivery and follow through to make things right were poor making the overall experience poor. I haven't even been given an answer as to how or what I should use to get the tape off without damaging the appliance. more

Salesman (Greg) was very knowledgeable, found us exactly what we were looking for, and the price was right. The whole sales process took under ten minutes. Delivery/Installation (by James) was equally as smooth. I will continue to recommend Dick Van Dyke Appliance World to family and friends. more

bought a refrigerator 1/3/2014

I bought a refrigerator from Dick Van Dyke a year ago. After having it for 2 months the door handle broke, they came out and fixed it. 6 months later the door handle broke again. I called service they sent a technician out to replace it. The tech came out and told me I need a door handle and that would be $25. I called the office they said it was a cosmetic issue and I would have to pay to get it repaired. I told them I've never heard of a refrigerator door handle breaking like this. I asked if the repair Mr could come out and look at it, I was told we don't do that. I asked for the service manager's name so that I could come in and speak to her/him, I was never given that person's name. Someone from service called me 4 days later and left a message to call back. When I called back I was asked a battery of questions, who are you, have you called before, what are you calling for. I said this is phone call, you don't go through all this to talk to the president. My handle is still not fixed. Back to Lowe's I go. I don't recommend purchase from Dick Van Dyke. Service is horrible more

Fridge/Freezer problems :-( 12/31/2013

I'm not sure about DVD.....They came to our home three times and something different with the freezer/fridge each time. The tech from there was a nice guy but nice does not get my freezer to working . My boss told me they were a JOKE !! Their service fee is cheaper than anyone else but u get what u pay for. They have ordered the part so they say. We will c what happens n how long my freezer works after its fixed:-( I'm really upset n sad because I feel like I'm throwing my $ out the window. We've spent money so far n its still not working properly. That's not including what we have to spend now when the part comes in n the labor. I have the right to express my feeling about this ordeal. I hope everything works out for me n my family if so II will come back n write an apology review. more

Excellent service 12/30/2013

Installers came today and moved our old refrigerator and installed a new one. A clean job. Well behaved polite installers. They were obviously knowledgeable and efficient. We could not ask for better service. more

The installer that put in our new refrigerator/freezer and dishwasher did not install either property. We were unable to get a service call within 24 hours of calling. Problems still remain. more

New Oven 12/22/2013

I bought a new oven for my wife for Christmas. The big-box stores had the same oven for about $50 more and they wanted $150 for a 5-year warranty. Buying this at DVD was a no-brainer. The installer did a great job and we just love the oven. more

Product and installation just fine, delivery schedule not fine 12/17/2013

Not happy that sales person told me delivery people would call at 8am but they didn't call until 9:15am, and then delivery was NOT as sales person told me it would be, in the afternoon, instead, he had written "all day" so my time was 10am-2pm, again, not a 3 hr window. Not planning on using them again just because I don't feel I can trust them. RESPONSE FROM Dick Van Dyke Appliance World: I apologize for any inconvenience we may have cause during your recent delivery/purchase. I looked into the situation surrounding your dissatisfaction with our company, because several things you've mention are inconsistent with our policies. My sales team understands that we route our deliveries the day of delivery. When we finish our routing around 8am, we start calling our customers to give them their estimated times of arrival. We deliver to approximately 40 to 50 homes a day. It takes an average of two hours a day to contact and leave messages for all of our deliveries. Unfortunately, all the information that we received from our sales team indicated the delivery was supposed to be an all day call. We document all of the delivery information on a form we call the "delivery guidelines". Our delivery guidelines are used to ensure everything that was discussed during the sales process is documented and signed by the customer. My records indicate that you signed our delivery guidelines accepting an all day delivery. I apologize if my sales team wasn't detailed enough to point out to you exactly what you were signing when you were in our store. Terrible Customer Service 12/13/2013

After having purchased a Washer/Dryer 7 months ago we had a issue with our dryer. Got someone to come out and look at it, said two weeks for part. No phone call from them after two weeks so we called and they had part and just did not contact us to set up repair. now 2 months later dryer goes down again. send 1 repair man out and he is there a total of maybe 10 minutes. Did nothing but check a couple of items and left. Had no idea. Waste of my time to be there. complained got new tech out and he diagnosed problem, but have no parts. Wow. So said will call back with idea of what timeframe will be. NOTHING BACK from anyone. We keep calling them, they make promises from customer service and nobody follows thru with them. Very poor customer service from somebodfy who spent a lot of money at their store. Bought and had installed stovetop & dishwasher 12/7/2013

Came in with competition ad and DVD matched product price. It was worth it to pay the extra to have installation and long-term warranty. Everything pretty seamless. Have used DVD for previous purchases, or repairs for appliances that came with home I bought, for over twenty years and have always been pleased. more

Very Poor Customer Service on Sales and Delivery 12/7/2013

We went into the Springfield store and bought a refrigerator. The salesman convinced us to have it delivered on the Friday after Thanksgiving. When we did not hear from DVD on the delivery time, we called. They told us it had already been delivered, which it had not. Once they realized their mistake, they told us it would be delivered later in the day. We had to call again to find out when. The delivery finally arrived at 3pm. We had already emptied the refrigerator, pulled it out, and unhooked the ice maker water line at 9am so we were ready for delivery. Fortunately it was cold since we had our food in coolers for 6 hours waiting for the delivery. When he arrived, the delivery man had to install the ice maker in the new refrigerator. We also told him the doors opened the wrong way. He told us that the salesman should have asked about that so he would have to charge us an additional $18 to switch them. When we asked why would we have to pay, he said it was the salesman's fault for not asking, so we needed to talk him. We called the salesman after the delivery and he NEVER returned our call. Then we called and asked for the sales manager. She told us the $18 was because he spent too much time at our house (he was only allowed 45 minutes). We were NEVER told by the delivery man that it was due to time or that salesman that he was limited on his delivery time. We don't understand why he was not allowed more time since he had to install the ice maker too! I have called several times too talk with the sales manager, who apparently is never available to answer the phone, so I have left messages. When she called me back, she told me the $18 was because the delivery man was there over 45 minutes and we should have known that. We were NEVER told he only had 45 minutes. Given that I had the old refrigerator ready to be moved and he had to install the ice maker at our house, he would have had plenty of time to change the doors, Plus, according to the delivery man, we should have been asked about the doors before delivery. It's obvious to me that DVD values the time of the delivery man, but not my time since I had to wait all day for the delivery. Plus, had we not called, it would have never been delivered. I have worked in services industry for over 30 years and this is by far the WORST case of customer service I have ever experienced. Apparently DVD is more concerned about getting their $18 than they are about having a satisfied customer. I will never buy from DVD again and will make sure everyone I talk too hears about this experience! more

Delivery Person was Top Notch! 12/5/2013

I ordered a Whirlpool fridge from the Dick Van Dyke in Champaign. When the delivery person arrived at my home in Savoy I was surprised that there was only one employee! He helped me remove the remaining food from my old refrigerator (I was under the impression that it could stay) and moved it to my garage for me. He then installed the new unit all by himself. I was amazed, at both his ability to maneuver the appliances, and also his thoroughness and courteous manner. It was a very pleasant experience and influenced my opinion of the company in a positive way. Please pass along my appreciation to the delivery personnel. Thank you! more
