I bought a TV through Best Buy and paid for the warranty. At the time I thought it was a good thing. Since my purchase the TV is now not working and I've made a warranty claim. Best Buy farmed it out to this company. I must say I couldn't be more disappointed. From the time I submitted my claim with Best Buy, it took Universal TV Techs over a week to call and set an appointment. The appointment comes and all that happened was some dude comes out and tells me that my TV is broken. They come out a week later with a part that doesn't fix it. He tells me he's not sure what's wrong with it and they can try another part. A week later they come back with another part (different guy) and he tells me that I need a new TV cause this one can't be fixed. I asked if I need to call Best Buy back or do I call his shop? He tells me they'd take care of it. That was 10 days ago - and I've heard nothing. This place says they're open from 8a-5p M-F and they're open on Saturday till 2p (but you have to call a different number). I called on Saturday and all I get is a busy signal - ALL DAY LONG. I called a few times today and all I get is a message telling me to leave a message. I left a message and received a call back telling me that I need to call Best Buy to submit another claim if my TV is still not working.. But wait.. When the tech was out 2 weeks ago, he told me that my tv is broke, I need a new one, and they'd take care of it. I'm ONLY using these people cause I HAVE TO (warranty work) - and never in a million years would I recommend anyone to pay this company. Their level of communication is easily a 0 on a 1-10 point scale. HORRIBLE!!!!!! more

I was actually quite shocked to read the negative reviews about this company since my experience was nothing but positive. My daughter's dryer went out and I was assigned to meet the tech at her home. The warranty service was scheduled for between 8 and 12 am. Dave, the assigned tech called at about 11:30 when he was ten minutes away. He was a delightful young man, well-groomed, personable and more than competent. He had to move the huge front loading drying to get to the back of it which meant removing a folding door as well. He had the dryer issue diagnosed within minutes, went to the truck to get a part, put it in, returned the dryer to its place, swept the floor and then did a test run to ascertain that the problem was solved. Who could ask for more? He was very professional, conversational, obviously well-trained and is a credit to his company. I don't know about this company's TV repair service that others seem to have had a problem with but I give Dave a top rating as an appliance tech! Thanks Dave for a job well-done! more

I agree with other reviewers that this is the WORST company to use for TV repair. We were referred to them by Best Buy to repair our TV (I told Best Buy not to refer people in the future). They charged us $90 for the visit and sent a technician who knew NOTHING! He called the office and spoke to someone who diagnosed the problem over the phone as we described the problem to him. They said we needed a part which would take 10 days. Two weeks later I called and they hadn't even ordered the part! No apology, no explanation - What losers! We cancelled and contacted Canyon State Electronics. They fixed the problem in 4 days for considerable less money than Universal's estimate. Contact Canyon State Electronics for TV repairs! more

Worst company EVER! Geek squad 3/2/2012

Worst company EVER! Geek squad contracted them to fix my washer's small little button on a front loader washer. They faulted on our first appointment where the receptionist blamed me that they tried to get in contact. I am a stay-at-home mom and NONE of my phones rang. I had to make another appointment for them to come out because of this. In order to fit their schedule, I had to change my 6 month-old's doctor's appointment. They eventually show up, order the part and leave all within 5 minutes. I get a call from the receptionist to schedule an appointment for installation of a part that doesn't even require a screw or sticker to install. So the appointment is made and I wait for them to show up; however one hour before it is to be installed, the receptionist calls to tell me they ordered the wrong part and we'd have to start all over again. WEEKS later the receptionist calls again to schedule, and I do. They don't call to tell me that they're on their way and they wake up my teething 6 month-old who then begins to scream. They refuse to leave the part at my door considering that there wasn't even a screw to the installation. I call the office again and get the horrible receptionist, ""Christina"" who thinks she is the end-all at the company and instructs me to do her job for her since she is too lazy to do it herself. I ask for the manager and she refuses. As I am hanging up I say something like 'screw you.' Because I have a touch screen phone, it did not end the call when I thought it did and she heard that. My husband calls to say that they need to reschedule for another time and she threatens to call the cops on me. Seriously the WORST service center. This may have gone a total different way if she wouldn't have refused me to speak with the manager. I called geek squad and filed a complaint against the company. I will follow up in a week and offer that they should end their contract with Universal TV Techs. more

Great service great prices, got my 2/16/2012

Great service great prices, got my 46""LCD repaired by Universal TV Techs, got to say they are fast but customer service needs some help. price was great. repaired my TV with in 1 hour. the girl upfront sounds rude but when i got to know here she was very nice, i would say maybe she needs some training. more

The worst repair company ever. 12/15/2011

I give this company one star only because there is no category for no stars. Lowes saddled me with these folks. Our washer has been broken since November 10th. they were supposed to come out on November 12th, but no showed. when I complained, the woman in their office told me that I should take it up with Lowes. On November 16th they finally showed up and the tech attempted to fix the washer. His fix lasted one wash cycle and it failed again. Another call to them resulted in them having to order a new belt for the washer. On November 29th the tech arrived with the new belt and ""discovered"" that the belt wasn't the problem after all. He said he would have to order a new motor. After not hearing for nearly 2 weeks, I called today and they said they were waiting for the motor to come in. They are supposed to come out with the new motor next week. At that time our washer will have been broken for 6 weeks. This is a disgraceful level of service. more

Dreadful People and rude to boot! 11/18/2011

After being dropped by the first tech from Best Buy, the second one called (University TV Techs) called today to tell me they would not be able for a service call on the day I had set up with Best Buy, but told me that I would have to work around ""their"" schedule!! This company should be run out on a rail with that kind of rude behaviour. No way will I even use the words customer or service when describing this company! They are just one more example of why you should shop around! I am on the phone hoping to get a tech that actually does know what they are doing with both the product and the client. This company won't get a dime from me! more

Got stuck with these people via an extended warranty from Wal-mart. Made my initial call to the number provided, a call service group out of state, on 9/30. They say best they can do is 10/3, a Monday and I called on Friday, ok I can live with that. Tuesday I call back to the call center to let them know nobody showed or called I want the number to the people who were supposed to show up. I contact the shop and get this bull about not being able to print something regarding my service call. Well did you have my phone number to have let me know rather than waste a day because you gave me 10-4 which means my day is shot. Mumble, mumble come next day. Same time frame, day 2 gone, asked for a call prior to arrival none came, but they did show. Now I had to explain 3 times to the service center and told the shop day before what wrong with my tv and the blinking code count from the front panel. Tech asks about the problem, #5 explanation now. Turns on the set, counts the blinks(same count I had) calls the shop they read from service manual for the set what's wrong and they will order the parts 5-7 days. My counting skills must have been questionable I guess. Good thing I'm not their accountant, which is my profession btw. Seven days later, nothing. Call service center, they say that the shop said it involved a bulb, a non covered part, end of story. I point out on the estimate that they also say a ballast, so why not at least do that part. Also point out to center that a picture did come on but wouldn't stay on, ie: bulb-good, ballast-bad. Eventually they contact someone at that shop and coordinate it back on track, next thing out of them, part needs to be ordered 5-7 days. Seven days pass I call the shop directly and the gal says oh that just arrived and you beat to calling to schedule. It's Friday, be here Tues., 5 more days. Tech shows, struggles, I have to provide some tools to avoid going into the shop. Still no go, off to the shop, say it with me now when I ask how long, 5-7 days. Amazingly got a call on Friday of the same week so only 3 days for one part. They say it's fixed. Had asked the gal about their price on the bulb when ""the other part just arrived"", $250 and $50 to install. Once I stopped laughing I pointed out it's 4 screws to install it first off and while I was speaking to her used my Android and found one for $93 already. Well just to keep their rep intact when she said it was fixed she asked if I wanted a new bulb. I said well did mine work or was it only with a new test bulb that it was working? She said no it worked with mine. I can't make this stuff up, I'm not that creative. So I said no I'll keep my $300 and when can I expect it to be delivered. Not even going to type it this time. But it will have been 1 month and 1 day for 1 part, if it get's delivered as promised. If you don't have to, don't. more

Worst Customer Service Ever 10/28/2011

This is so bad it is almost humorous. They have had my tv for 4 weeks, with excuse after excuse why it wasn't repaired. Wrong parts, bad parts, no tech available to work on it etc. etc. Ok, maybe that was true. But no phone calls keeping me posted. When I called them, no matter what action they said they would do, they didn't do it. Here's the best: I was told on Wednesday it was finally fixed and told it would be delivered Thursday from 2 - 6. Guess what? They never showed up or called. Friday morning they called after I left a nasty message, and the girl said they ran out of time to deliver and should have called me. I said ok, are they on their way? And she said - ready for this? She said there was no one to deliver it today cause the techs routes were already full!!!!! I was shocked! Shouldn't they have said, we are sorry we didn't call or make it yesterday, but we will deliver it first thing today? Or are my expectations out of line? I was almost laughing in disbelief. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. more
