While the interior was gorgeous and relaxing...the service was snotty and the massage was annoying. My massuse talked the entire hour and the massage was one of the worst ive eve...

The worst bikini wax ever 7/2/2003

Not only did they keep me waiting for 30 minutes for an appointment at 12:45 on a Monday, but the bikini waxer burned me pretty badly and gave me a completely uneven waxing. She pulled the strip, it stayed on me, so put more wax over it and tried to pull it off with another strip. It was a nightmare. more

beware of perms here 2/28/2003

I went to Toppers a few years ago for a spiral perm. The stylist was very nice and did an okay job wrapping my hair, but he waited until after the perm to cut my hair. All the combing through and cutting of fragile curls made my $200 perm fall out almost immediately. I wound up at Giovanni and Pileggi about a year later for another spiral perm and the result was incomparable. I found out you should never do a major cut on freshly permed hair - it should always be done before so as not to harm the curl. You'd think that Toppers would have known this. The impression I got from Toppers was that their salon is secondary to their spa. I would definitely not recommend them for any hair care. Cons: wasted money on perm, hard to park in town more

Service got better, they corrected the pedicure misunderstanding, and my wife enjoyed her Birthday gift. The pedicurist GINGER was a delight. Anna the manicurist needs to learn how to be personable, and GINA the massuese, mad her feel like a new woman. Pros: good service Cons: schedule early, costly more

I think that Toppers has gone from a wonderful spa with a salon, to a hair salon that happens to have a salon. The services are provided by less than top of the line folks, and the atmosphere in the place was that of a busy salon, not a retreat. more

The Topper's Spa Oasis in Newtown is beautiful with clean lines, no clutter, flowing water, subdued lighting, fragrant, fresh smell. I go there occasionally for massages. However, it is for women only, and does not offer overnight services. My only suggestion is that they should make cots available for those who want to take a brief nap after a relaxing massage. Pros: clean, relaxing, professional Cons: pricey, women only more
