Unprofessional business 12/4/2007

I have a home warranty plan with First American Protection and they assigned ""South Bay Appliance"" to take the service call. A few days went by and the repair guy never called me. I called them up and a lady put me on hold for 30 minutes. I thought they may have forgotten about me so I called back and they placed me on hold again. Tried again the next day and they just simply hung up on me after I asked for status on my work order! more

South Bay Appliance has some very highly trained service technician's, I should have written something about them when they repaired my Viking referigerator, but this Saturday they came out on my Viking Range Hood that 2 other companies could not fix, which I will not mention any name's, and they got the job done, I highly recommend this company, especially on high end appliances as I had a different tech than I had last time, and he was as good as the first one, by the way, the gentlemans name was Abel, very clean cut, very professional. Horrible Service 9/27/2007

Avoid this company! At South Bay Appliance the rule of the day is the customer is always wrong. The repair person they sent was almost impossible to understand due to a language barrier. When I called their number, the phone was often busy. When I did get through, I was put on hold for a long time. After the repair person came to my house, they failed to follow up to let me know when the part for my broken appliance would arrive. Then, when I called to inquire after waiting almost two weeks, they said they had ""no idea"" when the part would arrive and said they could not call the manufacturer to get an estimated date of arrival. Nor could they provide me with a number for the manufacturer so I could try to find out myself. It was some of the worst service I have ever experienced. South Bay Appliance's attitude can be summed up as follows: ""It's not our problem, it's yours. We'll get to it when we can and don't ask any questions in the meanwhile."" I ended up having to use an entirely different company to get the job done. more

Just would like to share a short thanks to South Bay Appliance for getting my DACOR BBQ working before the 4th of July, I had over 40 guest, and could not have had the great time we had, nor the great food we had, if they had not come through the way they did, thanks again. EXCELLENT SERVICE, VERY PROFESSIONAL 6/24/2007

I had South Bay Appliance out at my home, I just wanted to give my thanks, and share my great experience I had with this company. I am a figure in the San Jose community, and I have had allot of different service in my time, I find allot of resident's find the time to complain about a company, but not often give a review of how well a company does, so I wanted to tell somebody the great experience I had. I called South Bay Appliance through First American, my home owners insurance, yes I stayed on hold a few minutes, but most companies that are busy usually will put you on hold, so I find this pretty common. After the hold, the office was very professional, scheduled my appointment and the technician was on time. My technician explained to me what was going on, being it was in the evening he said he had to order the part the next day, the part was a back order, they called me in about 5 day's to tell me it was in. The office followed up with me, called me to put me on the schedule again, Marco the technician came back out and finished the job. Terrible service 5/22/2007

I just had a very bad experience with South Bay Appliance. I called them at 408-920-9721 and was kept on hold for about 15 minutes. I called them again and the same thing happened. The lady at the reception just says ""could you hold?"" and then puts you on hold without listening to you. It seems like a night mare getting through to tem. more

Very Happy Customer, even a SUNDAY VISIT!! 5/16/2007

I just wanted to give my appreciation to South Bay Appliance, I was out of town on a business trip and came home to a flooded kitchen from my Asko dishwasher, I called my home warranty on a Saturday afternoon, they gave me South Bay Appliance phone # 408-920-9721 I figured they would not be open, a girl by the name of Andrea answered and apoligized because she had nobody left available that afternoon, she soon called back and told me one of her technician's was willing to come out on Sunday to help me out, I just want to say THANK YOU!! not only were they open on Saturday, but they were willing to come out and save my hardwood floor from any damage on a Sunday, I am a very satisfied customer and wanted to give my input.\r \r Jay Pros: open 6 days a week, and in my case came on Sunday more

TERRIBLE SERVICE 5/8/2007

Just try calling them at 408-920-9721. The receptionist will put you on hold for 15 minutes, then say ""hello"" all of a sudden and if you do not respond within 1 second, she will hang up on you.\r I informed them of the broken part when scheduling the initial appointment, but they refused to order it in advance of the initial service call. The repair person was friendly, but it has now been two weeks and I have not heard back or been able to reach them to find out what is going on. \r Also, they do not respond to their voicemail messages. more

Unacceptable 4/23/2007

This company sent a technician to my home over 2 weeks ago. The technician assessed the problem with the washing machine, collected my deductible, and I haven't heard from them since---despite phone messages, being placed on hold for 15 minutes at a time regardless of time of day (then rude operators---the woman on the phone could be overheard laughing to her co-worker that I called back, finally demanding the attention every customer should be able to expect), and a request for the Home Warranty Company to even attain a report (the technician apparently never filed one). \r \r This is just one of those places that continues to be rude to customers because they are getting away with it---while you, as a consumer, suffer, waiting on them while they disrespect your time, botch the process, and ignore your requests or inquiries (be sure to read the other reviews---this company has a history). \r \r If this is how they handle the preliminaries, you don't want them actually getting to installation---can you imagine needing them to service it?? The rudest customer service dept. EVER 4/19/2007

I'm using South Bay due to a home warranty company NOT BY CHOICE. Everytime I call Rose answers ( I believe her name is Rose ) she is the rudest person I have ever experienced, she has a way of sounding as if she is doing me a favor by taking my call, she is clearly a person who enjoys being rude. It is very difficult to have a conversation with her, she knows everything, and cannot understand why we (as consumers) have questions. I guess being the owners sister affords her the ability do behave as she does. So if you have a choice, DO NOT call South Bay Appliance for service, unless of course you like verbal abuse. SOUTH BAY APPLIANCE 4/1/2007

I would like to include my experience regarding South Bay Appliance. I am an insulin dependant diabetic and my refrigerator stopped working. I phoned several appliance service businesses and was unable to get ""same day service"" as they advertised. When I phoned South Bay Appliance, I was greeted with a friendly receptionist who was also compassionate about my immediate situation. The technician, Abel, was able to come out the same day and fixed my refrigerator on the spot. They made what could have been a very bad situation, ok. Pros: Friendly and efficient more

Total Lack Of Self Woth and Dependability 3/22/2007

On feb 28th they showed up at 9:30pm at night, which was 6 hours late. I had to call four times to get an update to see when the technician was coming. They said it would take three days for the part to come in and it is now March 23, and I have had to call South Bay Appliance 13 times to find out when they were coming out an only to get rude responses and to be told thats the way service is. The technician doing the jobs was fine but not enough to be treated with the bad customer service. In my opion the owner of the company should shut the doors and go and learn character, values, dignity and responsibilty and than maybe become sef employed. more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE 5/4/2006

Failed to show up for two 3-hour window service calls. First time, they blamed us stating that we had the day wrong. The next day, again they did not show up. My husband called his office to check his messages and found that the service man had left a message that because we did not answer the phone, they would not be coming. The service man left no number to contact him, and the South Bay office was closed for lunch. When we finally reached them, their attitude was that this was all our fault -- no apologies. This is the company Fry's Electronics forces you to use for your warranty. Cons: poor service, unreliable, no apologies more
