What a Horrible Experience 4/14/2006

My boyfriend took me here for a birthday surprise. When we walked in the receptionist looked at us, said nothing, and then answered the phone. After we waited for two minutes (and after a few workers in the salon walked past us waiting), we finally were helped. He had made an appointment for me for a manicure and pedicure. Which turned out to be the WORST man/ped Ive ever had. My cuticles werent even pushed down all the way for my manicure; the polish was put on unevenly. The pedicure was BAD. The chairs were made for people shorter than 55. At 510 I was uncomfortable the whole time. I just can hardly explain how bad it was. THEN I saw that my boyfriend paid $74 for this JOKE! I would have said something, but didnt want to hurt his feelings. Ill be telling everyone how horrible this experience was. Pros: NOTHING Cons: Service, Price, Results more

Exceded my expectations 4/2/2006

I've had brazilian waxes done by MANY people over the years, and they are either fast but sloppy OR thurough but slowwwww. Liesl is the whole package: quick, painless, and thurough. She also made me feel very comfortable with an obviously ackward situation. I recommend her to everyone! more

I love this place! 3/27/2006

I found Wax Poetic through LA city search and after reviewing other places this one stood out. I walked in and was greeted with a friendly staff and service. Elizabeth talked me through my first brazilian wax and she did such a great job and was very helpful and how to keep up with the treatments. Unfortuntly the pain was the only downside to waxing (of course) I'll keep coming back here for sure! Pros: friendly service, price more

Too bad 3/22/2006

I had high hopes for this place. I love the concept, and my daughter had good eyebrow waxing done. But the haircut Christopher gave me was strange and grew out badly. He also had an arrogant attitude that his work did not justify at all. Then my daughter went to another stylist there and came home looking like a spaniel. By far the worst cut she's ever had. Wax Poetic is the best salon for waxing services. I was promptly greeted upon arrival by a friendly receptionist and received my services as scheduled. Kerry is the greatest at brows and bikini waxing....practically painless. I also took my pre-teen daughters in for an eyebrow cleanup. Kerry did a great job tidying up their brows without making them look grown up. No more unibrow for these girls. Pros: On time, Easy parking, Fair prices more

Great place 3/8/2006

Fortunately I ignored the advice of other citysearchers begging people not to go. The staff at Wax Poetic is amazingly helpful, approachable, and intelligent. Sandy did my brazilian wax, which was quick and virtually painless. They use the hard blue wax, which works much better down there than the creme waxes. Awful Service!! 2/11/2006

I recently had my first and LAST visit to Wax Poetic. The people at the front desk are HORRIBLE. No one greeted me when I walked in. I gave them my name and the woman that was "helping" me did not say a word. After standing there like an idiot for what seemed like forever, I figured she wasn't going to tell me where to go or how long it would be, so I wandered around the salon until I discovered the waiting area. I had a bikini wax with Liesl, who was very nice and made it as quick and painless as possible. Unfortunately, this wasn't enough to make up for the RUDE women at the front desk, who were equally filled with attitude on my way out. Why should I pay to be treated like garbage? for all the good things that i've read about this place, don't go if you have a weak disposition. the people who work at the front are NOT nice. i got bad manners on the phone and i figured that it was just because they were so busy. not so on the friday that i went. a few people walked past me, smiled and said hi-one of which turned out to be my waxer. the three people that were answering phones and taking people's money at the front just barely acknowledged my presence. i went back for my speedy wax (which was quick and painless, thank god), but once my waxer took her next victim, i was left alone. we'll see how tough i get. This salon ROCKS! 1/26/2006

After going to countless salons in the Valley and over the hill, I decided to give Wax Poetic a go. Boy am I glad I did. I saw Christopher who was cool, fun and creative. We had a great time and he gave me a cut that was exactly what I wanted as well as he interpreted what I was trying to achieve with color without me actually having to come up with it on my own or show him a million boring pictures from People and InStyle. I left myself in his very capable hands and I was so pleased. Sandi is also fabulous with her facials. Pros: Highly capable, Creative, Fun more

STAY AWAY FOR COLOR 12/17/2005

I *really* wanted to love Wax Poetic. I've gone several times, sometimes for skin, and other times for hair. Sandi is incredible with skin and waxing...perhaps the saving grace of this otherwise mediocre salon. Wax Poetic is a lot of hype with little to show for it. I've been to THREE different colorists....and always with abysmal results. Why did I keep going back? I'm not really sure...I kept going to different stylists hoping that I'd find one to love. BEST TREATMENTS EVER! 12/6/2005

I have been going to Liesl for the past few months now for facials. She has been treating my hyperpigmentation and its finally clearing up! After everything I've tried over the past few years and all the money I've spent elsewhere, Liesl has the cure! She is very proffesional as well as personable. She is also very educated and knows her products well. I also recommend Liesl for her waxing jobs. She is quick yet very thorough. Liesl rocks! :) more

Mixed feelings 11/30/2005

After reading such fantastic reviews, I scheduled a spa day for myself, culminating in a cut/color with the head stylist, christopher. The spa services were fantastic and highly recommended. My experience with christopher was less so. He did a great job with my cut and the color was fine, but he had such a holier than thou attitude! Would love to return for the haircut, but hesitate, as i'm not sure i want to put up with such a diva. I hope i just caught him on a bad day... Best of the Best in Town!! 11/22/2005

I have been a long time guest of Wax Poetic and have had nothing but compliments since I started going there. Robyn took my bleached, dryed and over processed hair and brought it back to its natural chocolate color and added a few red highlights to give it a little spruce. My hair has never been better. The cut frames my face and flatters my personality. Liesl has made my skin look as youthful as if I had never tanned before. Sandi has changed my brows from thin little whippitts to full and beautiful frames that show reaction with every smile and laugh. I highly recommend Wax Poetic. They always have the time to fit me in, even on a busy day. Pros: atmosphere, people, great managers Cons: nothing more

Waste of Time 11/16/2005

I was kept waiting for 30 minutes for an eyebrow wax while several staff members sat around looking at me without making any effort to assure me they would be with me soon. I would love to say how the wax turned out but I finally walked out. The staff at Wax Poetic made it very clear that they were not interested in my business; and I caution others with a tight schedule to avoid this place because you do not have the time to waste on these poeple. It has been years since I have had my hair professionally done. But, given the fact that i wanted black dye removed from my hair as well as a precise cut i shopped around for a new stylist. I met with Nicole, whom I was very impressed with. She removed most of the black from my hair and then did an allover monotone expresso color. She revitalized my droppy fine hair and even managed to tame my unruly bangs, which are blessed with the most awful cowlick. She listened to my ideas, and offered her advice about which cut would look the best for me. Overall a great experience. If you are looking for a friendly and vivacious stylist go see Nicole! My only complaint is that with such dim lighting it was hard for me to see exactly how my new color looked. Pros: Relaxed atmosphere, easy parking, friendly staff Cons: dim lighting more

I recently went for my very first Brazilian Wax, not a comfortable thing to do. But have to say that Meredith made it as painless as possible. Of course there is pain in the procedure, but her demeanor and friendly attitude put me immediately at ease. She knew just what to do, talked throughout and made me laugh, before I knew it, it was over and I looked great! I will definitely be going back. more

I love Wax Poetic for many reasons but mostly because of Leisl. I to to to her for waxing, facials and henna tattoos. She is the best reason to go to Wax Poetic because she is not only friendly and flexible but simply because she loves what she does and it shows in the quality of her work. If you're looking for exceptional service then you need look no further than Liesl. She is simply the best and I cannot recommend her enough. For someone who has gone to the same stylist for the past 7 years, it was very hard to find a new salon when i moved. i love getting haircuts but i was so scared to try someone new. i saw wax poetic on my way home from work and decided to check it out online and try it. As soon as i got there, Robyn's professionalism and friendliness set my mind at ease. She understood the look i wanted and has a great attitude. i highly recommend Robyn and Wax Poetic for anyone who wants to try something new. more
