Trust Wax Poetic 11/3/2006

Moved to the valley from the East Coast almost two years ago and entrusted Wax Poetic with my first brazilian experience. I've been going to Elizabeth every since - she is warm, friendly, comforting and takes care to walk you through the process each and everytime. Along with great waxing, Elizabeth fits the bill if you care about how your estethician treats you - she remembers your name and is super nice. Recent eyebrow wax was excellent too. Hooray! Susan's back! 10/26/2006

While she was out sick, I tried other estheticians and though they've been fine, Susan is my absolute favorite. For some reason it hurts less and I get less ingrowns. I don't know if it's how comfortable I feel or how cool Susan is but I heartily recommend her waxing services. She's definitely the one I turn to when things get hairy. more

More than a salon 10/23/2006

I've been going here since I moved here three years go, having found it on the internet. I have recommended it to many of my friends. The employees here know what they're doing! Their always expert staff makes anything from a wax to a haircut or color easy and painless. Also, the fact that they have a gallery of original artwork from artists, and a bar filled with everything from smoothies to wine, makes the wait enjoyable as well. Terrible Brazilian!!! 10/10/2006

I had my first Brazilian while I was visiting a friend in Houston and loved it so much that I had to find someone in LA. I turned to City Search to lead the way and I found Wax Poetic. I went on a Saturday afternoon and got parking right in front, so the parking situation didn't bother me. However, when I went in I was ignored by the staff and there was no where to sit while I waited. Finally my esthetician came and greeted me and I must say that Noelle was the only good part of my visit. She was extremely friendly and I'm sure she's a great esthetician, however the wax they use is awful. They use this blue wax that hardens and then is ripped off with NO touch-ups using regular wax and strips. This leaves A LOT of hair and I spent half an hour tweezing when I got home. All in all, I was extremely disappointed in this salon and would only go back if I couldn't find anywhere else in a last minute situation. Pros: Beautiful Facility Cons: Awful Wax more

I loved this place when Susan was here, but since she left, I realized that it was only her that I liked -- the place itself is kind of lame. So I was absolutely THRILLED to find out that Susan is now working at Aspect Beauty in Sherman Oaks at Fashion Square Mall. Not only is she as awesome as ever, but if you request her specifically, she'll give you a 20% discount! AND she's offering all services there, too, not just waxing. So if you're like me and think a salon is only as good as the aestheticians they hire, you should really go check Susan out! more

I went here for my first brazillian wax, and the staff was very nice. There have been many comments about rude hosts, but I did not experience any. Beau is the best 9/6/2006

I went into Wax poetic for the 4th time and i saw some 2 different stylist each time. For the 5th time returning i saw this new guy Beau! He is from Beverly Hills and Jonathan Salon and it shows. He did these cutting techniques on my hair that i hadn't seen ever before and was sooo nice. And of coarse, my hair looks soo good. He tought me how to create the same effect and i finally got it. I used to go to Kerry, the owner, back before she owned her shop. She is soooo awesome! After she rips, she soothes with her hand and it doesn't feel so bad. My brows were always perfect. I've been going to Wax Poetic on and off for a while, just taking whoever they assign to me. I've always liked it fine, but last time I went, I got Susan, and I knew I'd found my favorite. She's fast, she's very skilled, and the best part is that she's really, really funny. Actually, the best part may be that she works on Sundays, because that's huge! Dissapointing! 7/17/2006

I had first decided to try this salon because all of my previous Citysearch experiences have been wonderful, until this place! This was the first time I had ever had a brazillian bikini wax, so I was unsure what to expect. I guess it was an okay for the fist time, I felt comfortable and decided to go back a few times, even though the reception staff was completely unpleasant. I was very upset when I went to get my eyelashes permed and tinted. I had never had that done either so of course I did not know what to expect. I was very unhappy with the results and when I brought that to the attention of the owner, she kept trying to tell me that it looked fine. I did not like they results and I really did not appreciate that she kept trying to convince me that it looked good. Eventually they tried to reverse the perm, and it looked better but I had to end up paying for a service that I did not like, and not even offered a refund or discount. I decided with customer service like that, I did not want to give that place another dime, and found a new waxer with customer satisfaction with a money back guarantee, and have never been happier. Don't do it! There are better places out there! more

Fastest, friendliest waxing in the Valley 6/21/2006

On two separate visits, I got my legs and bikini wax from Sandy and Liesl. Each time, I got a wonderfully thorough (and relatively quick) waxing that was also carefully and thoughtfully done. No hair was left unplucked! Compared to much more expensive wax jobs that I had done in West Hollywood salons, my hair took much longer to grow back in, and it was done much less painfully -- and with a Brazilian wax, that's VERRRY important. I like the hip yet unpretentious atmosphere, the interesting, quirky art shows, and even grabbing a chilled Elixr tonic from their mini bar. Parking's always a breeze, and making an appointment is never a hassle. Love it! Pros: Quick, relatively less painful waxing. Friendly service, hip ambiance Cons: Almost none! more

When I needed to get some waxing done, I wasn't sure where to go, so I asked my friend. She couldn't stop raving about how great this girl Susan at Wax Poetic was, and practically forced me to go. Am I glad she did! First of all, we didn't even know about the referral program, which made it that much better. I got 10% off, and my friend got $10 off next time she went back. So cool! Anyway, Susan was just as great as my friend promised, and I will be going back to her whenever I need to. I just wish she did facials too, because I prefer one-stop shopping, and I can tell she'd do a great job. I've never been so happy to have my hair pulled out! more

Susan is excellent 6/11/2006

What others have written about Susan is completely true. I went to her today for my first Brazilian wax and she was the best I could have expected! It could have been a very awkward experience but she made me feel very comfortable. I would wholeheartedly recommend her, especially for first-timers. As a side note, the person at the front desk was friendly to me, despite what others have said on this site. Though I agree that it isn't clear where to wait, I didn't think that was a big problem. The salon is very hip and interesting, full of good eye candy and nice things to smell too. more

I loved coming here for waxing by Susan, but then it became impossible to get an appointment with her. They kept saying she was on vacation...at some point I realized that there was no way on earth anyone could be on a vacation that lasted so long. So I started asking my friends for referrals, but never found anyone I liked as much. Eventually, one of my friends started "waxing poetic" about her new esthetician Susan, and I was SO excited when I found out it was MY Susan. She's now working at a cute place called Peace of Mind Skin Care in Studio City, and not only does she do awesome waxing, she's also doing facials! The prices are way better than at Wax Poetic, and I couldn't be happier to see Susan again. I figured anyone else who loved her as much as I do would be interested to know where she is and that she's still as fabulous as ever! more

Very Disappointing 4/22/2006

staff at the front desk is definitely not customer friendly. they make you feel as though you are bothering them by being there, and are very disinterested in assisting you. their return policy on products is not mentioned when you purchase them - there are no returns, they only issue exchanges or credits for other products. overall, they certainly are not concerned with customer satisfaction - can't understand the best of rating. Susan is Amazing! 4/22/2006

I travel constantly between NYC, Miami and LA and always get a brazilian. I wasn't impressed with the 2 spas I had tried in LA until a friend told me about Wax Poetic. I went in just to check it out and was greeted by Susan. We got to talking and when she realized I was just looking for future service, she offered to take me on the spot! I don't know how long she's been waxing, but her skills are amazing! Fast, thorough and practically painless!! She's got a great sense of humor. We chatted away and the time flew by. She knows a lot about skin too. I will ALWAYS go back to her when I'm in LA. I told the ladies at Bliss about her...I wish I could take her with me to NY and Miami! THANK YOU SUSAN!! more
