I have Solar Bear come out twice a year to do the fall and spring check on the HVAC system. They have always taken care of everything. They are very thorough and friendly.

Solar Bear (Papa Bear) continues to call my teenage daughter's cell phone and tries to pitch their business. She has told them repeatedly that she is a minor and that they are calling her cell phone. This does not seem to matter to them. Am I wrong, or is soliciting business from a minor an accpetable practice now?\r \r I also find it very fishy that several sites offer negative reviews of this company, yet here you find 4 positive reviews in a row all within a couple of days of each other and all new users! I would bet a $40 service call that all of them are employees.\r \r The BBB states that this company is no longer in business (probably due to the name change to Papa Bear), yet I still see their service trucks in my neighborhood. I know first hand that this company is not looking out for the best interests of their customers. Do your research and hold on tight to your wallet. more

They ignore the Do Not Call LIst 6/20/2013

I'm also on the DoNotCall list and just received an unsolicited call from them. i would never use a company that ignores the law. I'll stick with Christian Bros or Hilco, they're very reputable. Next time they call me the AG will be notified! more

Unsolicited Telemarketing 4/22/2013

This company keeps calling and they were never asked to. I am on the Do Not Call Registry, but they do not seem to care. If they do not care about this treatment of a potential customer, then what kind of consideration are they going to give an existing customer? more

One of our air conditioning units went out. I called the company that had installed the units when the home was built. They said they would call me right back to schedule an appointment. Three hours later I had not heard a thing. I was tired of waiting. My neighbor told me about Papa Bear. Within a half hour they called me back and scheduled me for the next morning, which is what I wanted. Had no clue that annual maintenance on my heating and air conditioning was just as important as an oil change on a car. At first I was apprehensive when they called to pitch the service to me but for $40 I thought... why not? Recently one of my neighbors was complaining about having to replace their entire system to the tone of 6k+ and I asked them if they ever maintained their system. The response was no and their system was only 7 years old but in Phoenix... I guess that doesn't matter. I'm o-k with paying $40 twice a year for maintenance to avoid a $6,000 bill I know I can't afford. more

I have been happy with the install of my unit but---- 3/8/2013

I have been happy with my unit but not happy with the warranty from the company, I just had them out for my first service call (3/4/13), first thing they told me that I did not have a service contract and if I did it was not good for labour or trip charges (which it is on my contract) and also it incudes free 2 year maint., when they came out they replaced the air filter and tried to charge me around $80.00 for it, and air filter to me would follow maint. program and be replaced for free, after I told them I did not want it they said they would come back and take it out, I would think they would want the good PR and leave it in plus the cost of another trip out to remove. I can not imagine the owner of the company would handle it this way but his people seem angry over thier contract program , maybe they are on commision ? more

This company calls my house phone daily and then just hangs up. they have been asked numberous time not to call and to take me off the call list and still they call. Google these guys and you'll never do business with them. Watch out! more

Really Stand behind their product 11/30/2012

We had all kinds of problems with installing our unit (see review by Michele G) and wanted to get our money back. Discovered that our demand for money back was the first time the owner of the company had heard of our complaints--previous complaints were not forwarded to him. He asked for an opportunity to 'make it right'. Bottom line: they removed the unit they had initially installed and replaced it with a more expensive unit (but didn't charge us for the difference) that was the correct size. The first installer was fired as was the customer service rep that didn't properly handle our complaints. This company really does stand behind their work. Anyone can have a problem employee, but Solar Bear went way above and beyond to fix problems caused by the employee. I would HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone needing HVAC units or service. more

Will be requesting a full refund 11/14/2012

Were told unit would fit in our condo closet--can't shut the doors now. SB won't return calls regarding how to fix this. Techs told us we didn't need a filter--we do, or risk damaging the unit. Apparently didn't test the heating unit--first time we tried it the heat didn't work. Except for the fact that Mike Dixon lied to us about it fitting in our closet, the unit doesn't work, and the techs didn't install all the components and they don't return calls when there's a problem, this would be a good company. more

Do what you say you will do WHEN you say you will do it! I have been waiting over two weeks for the pro-rated refund on my service contract, yet every time I call I'm told someone needs to ""check on it."" I think you just want to keep my money. more
