This is great restaurant, but just want to mention, for anyone who does not drink, be aware that most of the fish is marinated in Saki (Japanese wine). But all the sushi is free of Alcohol. more

One of my gal friends took me and another friend here for the first time a couple weeks ago, and we were pleasantly surprised! We were expecting a small, crowded, average buffet in a shady location, but instead we went in and found cute tables with paper screen walls and a much larger selection of food than most of the buffet places I frequent. And the all you can eat sushi is actually good! Imagine that, huh? Their selection is really good, since they offer traditional rolls, maki rools, and sashimi, plus all the sauces too (even though I never use them, they had spicy mustard, spicy mayo, wasabi, and pickled ginger). The rest of the buffet was a fusion of everything (salads, tempura, mixed vegies & meats, etc.) the works! For dessert they have cakes, jello, a few different flavors of soft serve ice cream (the green tea frozen yogurt was my favorite, but you can't really get that wrong :d ), and fruits. Probably the only buffet I look forward to coming back to. Plus it's right across from the Natick mall, so after a full day's worth of shopping you can get a nice, full stomach in as well for a cheapo price :) Pros: All you can eat sushi, that's actually good! Don't expect the best quality raw fish here and don't expect your makis to be tightly rolled. It's a buffet after all. The plates of raw fish replenish itself very slowly and so on the weekend, you might actually eat through the entire bufet without ever getting to a slice of salmon. People fight over a fresh plate of raw fish. Get in line and stay in line with two plates in your hand -- no need to be polite here. If you prefer handrolls, you can ask one of the chefs behind the counter to make you one. Usually they don't refuse unless they are super busy. The hot food selections are quite decent, too. I agreed with the other reviewer on Minado. I only go there when I am craving fish and very hungry. Lunch meal only offers veggi rolls and a few sushi nigiri, and salads are not so creative any more. I went to Minado on a weekday for dinner. I was curious about the idea of sushi buffet. The place place gets very busy in no time. My recommendation is to show up early (5-6pm). The ""appetizer"" list was extremely rich. Seaweed salad, black seaweed, octopus and calamari salads, noodle soup station, and on - in addition to confort food items(wings-pizza...).Moving on to sushi, large variety, a lot of rice, line busy all the time, small pieces of meat, average to below average taste. Some sashimi pieces are served for dinner customers- I tried the tuna and the macarel. The tuna sashimi pieces were badly presented, cut in cube shapes (like small kabobs). Both the tuna and macarel sashimi were not tasty. The oysters were small and not tasty. Pros: Salad variety, parking Cons: lines at the buffet, below average sushi more

We've patronized Minado in NYC & NJ for 4 yrs, approx. 30 visits, & happily spotted the Natick branch during a visit. During Sunday lunch & while only 50% occupied, it took 10-20 minutes waiting in a line to access the sushi bar. The other food platters were not replenished and more were empty than not. We requested the Mgr to express our dismay & he claimed employees ""were being trained"". It seemed insincere & he made no effort to make amends though he claimed he was 'part owner'. The food was mixed, some good and others below Minado's standard fare. Waiting in lines for too many empty platters defeats the goal of buffet dining. This place is not very kid friendly at all. They tried to stick us with a bill for our 10 month old son who only ate a few bites.Then told me he would have to be measured he was asleep and we had to wake him up. I love the food but this to me is not ""kid friendly"" You may want to call to get all the details of their kid friendly rules before you go. Biggest and best buffet around. This is nothing more than a feeding ground for hungry patrons. Ambiance is like a college cafeteria but for most that doesn't matter. Getting more food than you can possibly eat in a week in one sitting is what you go for. Sushi is average but good... more

Went to Minado last weekend for a family dinner. We had a large party with 8 adults and 4 kids. My 13 month old baby was charged for a meal. When I asked that the charge be removed, to my disbelief one of the employees asked to have my son measured. Children under 2 1/2 feet are free. My baby is not walking yet, nor successfully standing on his own. So after a few attempts I had to have him lean against this growth chart on the wall. He is less than 2 1/2 feet. I actually had to get my son measured to get the $5.50 charge removed. I couldn't believe the crappy customer service. Common sense and good customer service would tell you that a baby shouldn't be charged or measured ""just to be sure."" He's not a big baby and he just ate a few bites of rice, tofu and bananas. So unhappy with my most recent experience there. Had to speak to the manager who apologized, but still tried to defend his employee by saying something ridiculous like ""...some 12 yr old kids are 5'5"" and the parents want to pay the kid's charge."" My husband and I tried Minado for the first time yesterday and were absolutely thrilled with the food, value and ambience. The sushi selection exceeded our expectations and everything we tried was delicious. The dessert selection and hot and cold food was excellent as well. The service was great - our waiter cleared our plates as soon as they were empty and was very attentive overall. On a weeknight at 6:00pm, the buffet was $23 each and the lines were short. Minado gets an A+ from us!!! more

If you are looking for declicious combination of sushi, seafood, steak, salads, cold seafoods, and desserts. Minado is the right place for you to visit. Minado has high quality foods with the price of $25 per person. If you are looking for a place all you can eat sushi and sashimi, this is the right place. Minado is a GREAT place if you are the type that has a blackhole for a stomache and it's decent if you just want a bit of everything. It offers a good variety of both cooked Japanese food and raw sushi but do not expect the best fish there since it is an all you can eat place. Going on a weekday night is great since you can avoid the crowd and the waitress was amazing attentive: clearing place when we finished and filling up our water glass or tea cup. Attention sushi snobs of the world! Overcome your ""better judgement"" and go to Minado for a fun, delicious evening when you feel like finding out just how much sushi you can jam into your maw before you collapse. The weekend dinner selection is the best, so if you're going for the first time , plan for then. Try to go AS CLOSE to opening time as humanly possible. Trust me. As for the hot stuff, the beef teriyaki is unearthly good, and the teppanyaki grill is tasty if you avoid the ""scallops"" (Skate, I believe. But it's forgivable.). For dessert, hit up the crepe station, and if you need a ""bit of the cray-chur"", I am very happy to say that Minado's Plum Wine is a DELICIOUS sweet Umeshu called ""Choya"", which is far more authentic than the swill served at many more expensive Japanese places. I go for quality over quantity any day of the week. So naturally, I was skeptical. But why not give it a try. It seemed to draw a crowd on a weekday so it can't suck too bad. And to my surprise, the sushi was excellent. Yes, you can have quality AND quantity, even when it comes to sushi. Even at a la carte sushi, the uni isn't always fresh. You can't keep it more than a day or so. but the uni at this place was very fresh. The hamachi was generously portioned. Bigger than some a la carte places. The variety. The quality was better than most. It isnt for a guy looking to impress his date. OK, even if my expectations weren't so low, I think I would still rate it high. I've had sushi in Japan and NYC. Buffet veterans know that you will trade off quality for quantity in many cases. Minado's sushi is not quite as good as if you went to a standard Japanese restaurant, but if you have an enormous appetite, it makes up for it with tremendous variety and reasonably fresh offerings. They will make you handrolls on the spot, so I recommend doing that as much as possible, as opposed to taking your chances with what's out there. Avoid salmon, which seems to me to be obviously lower grade. Avoid the shrimp. I think they've been frozen, and they sit out there a fair amount. Try the udon noodle station, the hibichi, the salads and the crab legs. All are above average. more

I travel to NYC a few times a year & always look for good sushi spots. But right here in our own backyard is who would have thunk it - all you can eat sushi - that is actually very good & value priced. Much better than it's sister spot in midtown NYC. & Much better patriots here (new yorkers can be quite rude at buttets). The hot food selection is awesome. & yes I do eat the sushi here, my standards have not been lowered, just acceptable for what you pay for. Avoid NY's all you can eat places. Stay home & come here!
