I just had to share my WONDERFUL experience at Elan Salon in Green Hills. A friend of mine has been going for years, and had always told me about the great customer service, top notch stylists and sophisticated decor, but I had my own stylist at a competing salon, so I never went. However, my stylist recently moved out of the country so I took this opportunity to see what it was all about. I hate that it took me *this* long!! From the moment I entered the door, I was greeted with warm smiles at the front desk. I had been running errands, and was a little self-conscious. Most elite salons in this town for some reason snub their noses at casually dressed people. Like I want to put on my best jewels to go to the hair salon?? That's smart! Anyway, it was buzzing with people! The music was good and not too loud -- a really cool vibe. I couldn't help but notice the diversity of the clientele as well. One stylist was working on an elegant elderly lady while the stylist next to her was working with a rock star wanna be! I was offered a beverage straight away! I had to wait for my stylist only about 5 minutes if that, but good things come to those who wait for sure!! My stylist was thoughtful, offered suggestions and asked a ton of questions. I left feeling great and had an awesome haircut to boot! Thank you to Elan for making my first experience there NOT my last! more

I went in to get my haircut and asked for suggestions. Victor informed me that if I didn't know what I wanted, that I needed to go find out and then come back. I thought that a STYLIST was supposed to help style your hair? Needless to say, I will never go back to Elan again. Cons: rude staff, long wait time more

I just moved to Nashville and everyone I spoke to recommended Elan. So I booked an appointment there for a full highlight. It was the worst experience I had in a salon ever. The girl doing my hair was so unprofessional. All she talked to me about was nightlife in Nashville, getting drunk and the guys she dated. I don't drink so it made me especially uneasy. When she finished my color I almost burst into tears. She didn't fix my roots... AT ALL! I said something to her and she brushed me off saying something along the lines of that is how it is suppost to be that you can't get to close to the scalp without it burning... WTF?! When I got home my roommate actually asked me when I was going... she couldn't tell that I had just been sitting in the salon for 2 hours! My roots still looked exactly the same as when I walked in there! So disappointing! Maybe it was just my colorist but a salon is only a good as thier weakest link! more

Yes thats right I just drove 6.5 hours from Fort Wayne, Indiana to have Amy Sadler cut and color my hair. I had Amy do my hair last fall and thought I could find someone to do it as well closer, but here I am driving to see her again. She cuts and colors my hair like no other. I would reccommend her to everyone. I just wish she would move to Fort Wayne so I didn't have to drive so far. But I will do it again in a heart beat. She's the best. more

I paid $90.00 for nothing!!!! I brought several pictures and ask the colorist (SHE IS SUPPOSE TO BE THE BEST, WHATEVER!) if she could get my hair like the picture she said YES pretty close. Let me say my hair was green and unless I'm losing my eyesight the warm undertones in the picture I showed her didn't look green to me. When asking the colorist if she thought the hightlights looked grayish/green she said ""no"" when she knew that it looked terrible! I sit with the highlights in my hair for 45 mins while she cut and styled someone else's hair instead of giving me a full service of the $90.00 I spent for nothing!!! I specified that only wanted my hair two shade lighter and I hated the white highlights. She had to put two toners on my hair and now I have no highlights around my face (which is were I really want them) and all the highlights in the back of my head. She then only blew my hair dry and didn't even flat iron it. I have to say this is the WORST SERVICE EVER! SHE OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T CARE ABOUT PROVIDING QUALITY SERVICE!!!! I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS SALON UNLESS YOU WANT TO THROW AWAY MONEY!!!!! more

I have never had a regular stylist until i went to elan a couple of months ago as a walkin... Chad cut my hair and he was so fun, he made me feel so comfortable and my haircut was great- probably the best i've ever had. I know this is more of a fancy salon, but you can really get a good men's haircut here. I get a lot of complements now, and it's thanks to chad. You rock man! Pros: Great Men's Cuts with Chad more

I've been going to Elan skin for about 2 years. Because of my busy schedule, I don't go to a specific waxer, just take whoever is available. Although I'm always on time for my appointment, I end up sitting in the lobby @ LEAST 10 minutes before I'm called back. It's usually longer and once I waited for 40 minutes. All I would get for my wasted time was an ""i'm so sorry! i got backed up."" So when i was running 10 minutes late for my appointment due to wreck the other day, I didn't think too much about it. Less time to have to wait in the lobby. When I arrived 13 minutes, the receptionist condesindingly asked me if I was 'aware"" my appointment was @ 5. I replied, yes but traffic was backed up b/c of a wreck. She said my waxer, Ann, had someone coming in @ 5:30 and didn't know if she would have time to 'work me in' but she would check. When she returned from the back room, the receptionist informed me that the girl would not be performing my bikini wax. She wouldn't have time and had another client scheduled. I looked @ her incredulously and said, ""Are you serious??! Every time I come here, I have to wait @ least 15 minutes."" (keep in mind, I've been waiting 5 minutes by now for them to have a chat and the wax @ MOST takes 15 minutes). To which the rude girl gave me a half shrug and said, ""She can't do it. I can schedule you w/ her on Fri. Do you want to book it?"" Didn't even say she was sorry!! and umm, NO, I did not want to book it! Evidently I am not too good to wait but other people are. So clearly, I will not be using Elan or Ann ever agin. Pros: most of the other girls there are nice/polite Cons: wait time, rude staff more

I am a celebrity fitness trainer in Hollywood and when I visit Nashville having Amy Sadler style my hair is my #1 stop! She is so creative! Amy is always up on the newest products and trendiest cuts, although if you are looking for something more conservative she is impeccable! With her southern humor and fablous sense of style you will have an amazing experience! more

What a great salon - friendly, talented staff, chic interior, perfect location...AWFUL SHAMPOO'S!!! I have never had a worse shampoo in my life, and how hard is it to mess that up? Every time I leave, I have a thick film left on my scalp and have to re-wash my hair when I get home. I have 3 friends who will not go here anymore because of the shampooers, and they have told the management this - so why are these people still working there?? If you are looking for a fun and talented stylist- especially for blondes- Changes is the place and Amy is your stylist! I have been in Nashville for 10 years now and I visited several high end salon in town yet to find a salon that is comparable to the salons from my hometown of Miami- both in style and in talent. My hair was blonde up until about 7 years ago when it began to get very dark. I have tried several different hair colors, but have always felt most comfortable and the best as a blonde. The problem is, I haven't been able to find anyone to successfully transform my now medium brown/blonde hair to that glamorous, yet natural blonde that you see all the time in magazines and the way you picture it to be. I would either be brassy, tiger-striped, chunky, uneven, etc. I always gave the stylist a few chances and the benefit of the doubt to ""get it right"", but always found myself moving on to yet another salon. About 3 years ago I began going to Amy Sadler when she was at Elan Salon and she gave me the hair I have been searching for (and paying an arm and leg in the attempt) for years now! She is now at Changes Salon which is a very personable and classy salon in Green Hills. She is very talented and knows what she is doing. She spent time getting to know me and LISTENED to what I wanted. Even with the cut she did exactly what I was asking, but still gave me her expert opinion. I have followed and plan to always follow Amy wherever she goes and tell everyone about her. I feel great about myself and am always satifsfied when I leave. Best of all, I left with my dignity that I didn't spend my whole week's paycheck on my hair! She has VERY reasonable prices. I have paid 4 times that much and hadn't gotten near what I asked for. If you've been looking for a down to earth stylist with real fresh talent then AMY is the one! My hair is a medium brunette and my challenge was to be a perfect ""10 ""natural blonde. In a matter of hours i was taken to the most beautiful natural blonde shade with no stripes, no yellow, and u couldnt tell if i was ever a brunette. Amy was concerned about keeping the integrity of my hair while taking me to blonde, that let me know she cared about her client rather than dipping into her clients pockets. The salon offers a great atmosphere, outstanding customer service, and of course my new favorite stylist ""AMY""!!! This is the WORSE hair cut I have ever gotten. I was given a $60 mullet, and the people treated me like garbage. I will never in my life step foot in this place again. I would have gotten a better hair cut had I gone to Super Cuts. I have been going to Melanie for almost 2 years now and I will never find another stylist who takes time and care with my frizzy, untameable locks! She has shown me how to be creative with straight or curly hair and also with color. Now that she's at Elan, I'm even more EXCITED! It's closer and the people seem so much friendlier! I have been going to Mindy for several years now. She is the sweetest person you'll ever meet & she does a wonderful job with my skin. It has never looked better! I get compliments on my skin regularly & they're all due to Mindy's great care. If you are new to Elan Skin, be sure to ask for her when you call. I have been to salons in other cities and thought this would be another expensive haircut, but instead I plesantly suprised from the moment I walked through the door the staff was very polite and professional. Brian was and will forever more be my only hair designer. He is just pheonominal. He knew what to do just by looking at me, and he did a wonderful job. It was like being in one of those extreme make overs. He really knows his colors and cuts. I have gone to him mulitiple times and each time it just gets better and better. I can't wait to see what he will come up with next!!! Brian is Highly Recommended!!!! more

I have had so many horrible experiences with hair salons! In fact, before coming to Elan, I never had a good experience. I have been going to Racael for nearly four years now and she has never let me down. She is always intergetic, friendly, personable, and extremely knowledgeable. I always go in and ask for something different, and everytime she delivers! Half the time, I don't even have a picture, but just with telling her she gives me exactly what I want.
