A friend recommended Elan when I was new to Nashville, and I've never looked further for a comparison. Chadd is terrific with color, and he also has a gift for achieving the perfect cut. Right when you walk in the doors of Elan Hair and Skin Salon you are greeted by the front desk staff that seem to sparkle with joy from serving you. No stuck up frowners here, just happy staff that love to pamper you with every step. From the person who washes your hair to the stylists ; all seem so happy at their job and it shows in the finished product, i get nothing but compliments every time i get my hair colored or cut and sometimes i just go in to get my hair blown out. Chadd is the best blow out artist in town! But he is always booked in advance so call way prior to your event. Pros: professional, friendly,staff all dressed in black! I moved here about 5 months ago and decided to try Elan Hair Salon after a terrible experience (and cut AND color) at a salon in Brentwood. I couldn't be happier. I used to love Elan. Then they started making the hairdressers do laser and botox to try to sell these things to their hair clients. The best hairdressers left with the Great Goldwell products they used to use. The hairdressers have faces with huge marks on them from bad laser jobs and botox in their lips that don't move with speech impediments. I went to get my hair done, not a laser peel. Since they lost the best hairdressers like Natasha and Jennifer the final straw was when a laser peeled hairdresser with a burned face hiding in the back got creative with my highlights and gave me chunks that I didn't want. That was after someone did my base color red when it was supposed to be blonde. Stay away from Elan unless you want a laser peeled face that is burned with botox inappropriately injected in your lips and your hair color wrong. I just love my hairstylist Caitlin. She always gives me just the right cut and color that I am looking for. Even if I do not know what I want or need, she can cut my hair to look its best. I am always treated by a very professional and knowledgable staff . I do not mind paying for quality service and would recommend Caitlin to anyone. Pros: professional and talented staff more

I have been getting my hair cut at Elan for the past year and a half, and I've always found the experience to be exceptional. The staff is wonderful and very talented. An Elle magazine article about the 100 Best Hair Salons in America actually named them as one of only two salons in Tennessee to make the list. I go to Caitlin, and she always does a great job. I was referred to Elan Skin by a coworker after complaining about a torturous waxing experience I had a few years back. I promised myself I would never get a wax again but she insisted that Elan was great and I would be in great hands with Lauren. So I gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised! The experince was actually great, not torture like before. It was quick and easy, which is how we all want a waxing to be! I will never go anywhere else! Pros: Great Spa and Waxing. I made an appointment from comments on Citysearch reviews. I have been to several salons, so I though I would try Nathan at Elan . I made an appointment and had my hair cut. He was very friendly and the staff was as well. After a just a haircut, 1 hair product, and tip , I had spent $115. (no color), and I was disappointed. I wouldn't mind spending that much for a great cut. I showed him a picture of a hairstyle that I used to have, and it turned out to be nothing like it. It was uneven, and is not growing out well. I am pulling it back in a ponytail more than I did before I got my hair cut ... I have never had a compliment on my cut since I went to Elan and people at work couldn't tell I got my haircut. Maybe it was just a bad day, but I will not go back. The shampoo, smelled horrible... The pro's were that they did not push any hair products and the staff is friendly... Maybe just a bad experience... but when I pay that much for a hair cut, I would expect to feel great when I come out, not disappointed... I have been highlighting my naturally dark blond hair for years. I never was completely happy with my colorists and was always looking to be brighter but could never articulate it to them. When I moved to Nashville I scheduled an appointment with Julie at Elan and she is incredible. From the first appointment I was in love with her. My hair has never looked better and I get compliments constantly on the color. It's exactly what I have been looking for - perfect color and looks natural. Julie also does a great haircut. I would highly recommend Elan and particularly Julie for anyone, but especially blonds looking for highlights. She's the best! more

Elan is a great place to get a hair cut and color. I have been going there for several years. And not only are the services excellent, but the atmosphere is friendly. It's a ""Cheers"" setting for an upscale hair salon. \r \r Although you can't go wrong with any of the stylists, Victor is wonderful. He always gets it ""just right."" And I love his honesty. When I was wanting to wear my hair long, he told me it didn't look good. And he was right! He is a great stylist and person. \r \r You can't go wrong at Elan! I have been going to Elan for almost 10 years - and have worked with several stylists and aestheticians within their business. I have consistently felt welcomed. Most of the time I have come out with a haircut and color that make me feel great!!! I got a brazilian wax for the first time tonight and was nervous. Loren, who did my wax, made me feel completely comfortable. She told me exactly what she was going to do before she did it, and kept the conversation going so I felt comfortable. Everyone at Elan was very friendly and accomodating, and they actually took me in for my appointment early. I would highly recommend Loren to anyone, whether they are a first time waxer or not. I recently moved to Nashville from Austin and love my new stylist (Victor). He is great at making the cut I want work for me and does some fun highlights too. The salon is easy to get to, the shampoos are always relaxing and I get so many compliments on my cut and color. I am a short-hair kinda girl so I am in every 5-6 weeks. I love how friendly everyone is -- they always offer to take my coat and ask if I a beverage. The salon itself has clean lines and a modern feel with nice big windows for checking out the blue sky. Also, a nice benefit is the great restaurant next door -- Kalamatas. It makes for a great lunch after a new haircut. I recommend Elan and Victor to all my new Nashville friends. I have been to Elan in Green Hills twice since moving to Nashville and have been very happy with the results each time. I highly recommend Nathan; he has done an excellent job creating blonde highlights that blend beautifully with my natural color and giving me a cute, trendy yet sophisticated cut that is low maintenance and grows out really well. Absolutely the worse hair cut and highlights ever. Called to book my first appointment and was told Dawn was the very best. Took a picture of the cut and color I wanted to make sure there was no miscommunication. Highlighting resulted in little squares all over my head. There were points in the hair that were 1 inch and the other 4 inches - all in the same area. Manager promised a re-do with a stylist of my choice, but when it came down to scheduling only got a run-around. Don't waste your time, hair or money Cons: No talent, don't care attitude more

I go to Elan to get my eyebrows and bikini waxes. Before, I was going to this fabulous woman in Murfreesboro, but when I moved to Nashville, I was struggling to find a place to go to get waxed that did a great job with a good price. My best friend, on a similar quest, recommended Elan and I've been going back since. I've used almost everybody there and they're all great, but my favorite is definitely Sarah. First time at Elan (just moved here) I am blonde and needed my roots done. I was told Julie was a senior colorist who charged more than average so I figured that she would be a safe bet. She says a base and highlight will get rid of my roots. I've never had a base color but I figure she is the prof. \r \r The base color turns my entire head ORANGE at the roots. So she puts a toner on to reduce the brassiness. That doesn't work. I alert her to the fact that my roots and ends are different colors. The roots are gold (practically matched the gold earrings i was wearing) and my ends are platinum. Julie says, ""Well thats why I asked if you wanted lowlights to blend the colors."" Umm I dont think so, I wanted the roots to match my ends (DUH) and I didn't want my hair any darker. That comment tells me she knew the color wouldn't match my ends but still used it. Plus who wants two-toned hair? I was appalled. My hair looks terrible and I resemble a bleached bimbo whose hair looks cheap and fake. She told me to go home and wait a week to see if it gets better. I was appalled again. After showing it to my new co-workers and my boyfriend everyone agreed. I seriously look like a FAKE brassy blonde. Everytime I see myself in the mirror I do a double take. \r I called Elan and they had Brian do a full highlight the next day (free of charge). He is a great highlighter (lots of foils close together) but the color doesn't come out so easy so I basically have to wait until it washes it out and continue to bleach it out. I wouldn't let Julie touch your blonde hair. I am a fair person and will even say that I saw her cut (not color) other people and those turned out good, but for blonde stay away. Her highlights were pretty bad too, she used like 1/2 the foils I am used to. So now I am washing my hair with a violet shampoo to de-brass it and waiting... Well, I've had my hair done by some truly amazing people here in Nashville. But when I walked into Elan last Thursday, I wasn't even really sure if I wanted to get my hair done. You see, I'm one of those people who knows what I want to look like, but I don't know how to tell someone what to do to get me there. But lately, my hair (which hadn't been touched up or trimmed in 6 months) was getting on my nerves, looking ratty, and prettymuch only looked good when I tossed it up into a ponytail or pinned it back with about 10 bobby pins. So I decided to just trust them and let them fix my hair. Turns out, Brian Elliott was available for a walk-in appointment, and I described what I wanted him to do: leave my hair long (I know short hair works for me, so it often gets chopped off when I say ""do whatever you want""), ""wake up"" my color, and make it basically maintenance-free, since I hate styling my hair. \r Brian started by giving me highlights and lowlights, then evened up some of my choppy and disconnected layers. Then he gave me long bangs, which I was thrilled about, since they highlighted my eyes!!\r Usually I have to wait about a week to know if I love my hair or not.... and usually, I don't, and I go back to get it tweaked.
