This is the best yoga class I've been to anywhere. And I've tried yoga everywhere in Houston and out of Houston. Nothing compares. Darla Magee is the best intructor you could a...

Hot Yoga Here changed my life! 1/4/2006

Before I discovered Darla and hot yoga here I was always afraid of the heat. But this instructor and the practice of hot yoga have truly changed my life. My mind is more focused, my body is limber, and the aches and pains I lived with on a day to day basis for years are now a thing of the past. Darla is warm, caring, and reminds us that we don't ""do"" yoga, we practice. Each session my body changes, each class is a unique journey of mind and body. Positive, spiritual, beneficial, supportive, sweet, caring. Join us. We welcome you. (PS - I've dropped inches in the process, and look years younger!) Pros: Welcoming, Focused, Positive more

There's no one else like Darla 1/4/2006

If you've never done Hot Yoga, or you've done it elsewhere and hated it, you have to try Hot Yoga Here with Darla! There's no pretention, no fashion show, and no juice bar... just lots of heat, lots of encouragement, and lots of Darla. Since she teaches every class personally, she gets to know each student on a personal level. Not only who has bad backs, knees, feet, etc., but who needs the hottest spot, who likes to be near the humidifier, and who needs extra encouragement or supervision. Her style truly embraces the union of body, mind, and soul because she puts her heart and soul into every class! You owe it to yourself to feel the heat and the love! Pros: personal instruction, well-heated, friendly classmates more

Great Hot Yoga here! 10/31/2005

Just what I was looking for....no frills, no shopping, no lobby, no egos, no carpet. Just great hot yoga with a great instructor. Pros: location, instructor, schedule more

Run, don't walk to this Hot Yoga! 7/22/2005

For years I ran, worked out at the gym and then one day, I was just burned out...for several years I did nothing except ""think"" about getting back into shape. But, I had no inspiration or motivation. And then, I received a coupon in the mail for Hot Yoga. What a great gift...after one class I was hooked. Not only is hot yoga physically challenging but there is the additional gift of ""mentally melting away"" the cares of the day. And then there's the best gift of having an instructor, Darla who shares her sweet spirit, insight and strength with you. I don't see ever not wanting to go to Hot Yoga! Hot Yoga has been the inspiration/motivation that I needed to get off the couch. Cheers to Darla and Hot Yoga! feliciaz more

Unique Hot Yoga experience 3/16/2005

Unique Bikram environment! I have had close to 20 different Bikram Yoga teachers across the country, and Darla Magee somehow gets me to do the postures happily, while the others seem to force me in a my-way-or-the-highway attitude. I've been to Darla 's other studios, and this one is the best! She keeps the heat at a hot temp, like Bikram does in his L.A. Studio. The other studios I've been to are noticeably colder. (I'm assuming when Bikram visits, they crank it up to specifications.) Also, her Hot Yoga Studio has no sweat-filled carpet, just polished linoleum! Thank you for that as well! Pros: Instruction, great dialogue, Class size more

simple space 3/14/2005

These classes are hot and sweaty. The room has a tile floor with out the usual smelly carpet. Darla's still teaching her awesome no-nonsense Bikram Yoga classes and the other yogis are friendly and welcoming. There is no lobby- or expensive furniture- but there are small showers and plenty of restrooms. Tucked behind a temple- their gardens are peaceful and serene- a nice place to relax before and after class. Pros: good parking, cheaper prices, nice setting Cons: small showers, no lobby, Bikram classes only more

Observant and attentive instructor 3/9/2005

In yoga, form is very important. I've been to yoga classes where the instructor never corrected my form or anyone else's. Darla is attentive to details like form and even watches facial expressions to know to ask if you are in pain. She is great at adapting postures to accomdate you if you have certain medical conditions or limitations. Darla takes her work with you seriously and you definitely get value from her classes....and she's lots of fun! Pros: attentive instructor, ashram-like location, intimate classes more

No more pain! 3/6/2005

I came to Darla with terrible sciatica from a herniated disc. I had tried everything to get rid of the debilitating pain, massage, chiropractors and drugs prescribed by my orthopedic surgeon. Thanks to her knowledgable and caring instruction, I have no more pain! My orthopedic surgeon can't believe it. I have now been off the drugs he prescribed for two years now. I can't imagine not having yoga in my life now and I will always practice at Hot Yoga Here. more

User review by cetzel 3/6/2005

I come from an Iyengar background and was quite skeptical regarding Bikram yoga. However, after meeting Darla and experiencing Hot Yoga, my skepticism faded to nothing. Darla is an excellent teacher who is student-minded as well as yoga-minded. She helps students incorporate Bikram yoga into their own daily yoga practice. more

Best Workout for Body and Spirit 3/6/2005

Darla's instructions are the best I have seen for this style of yoga. When traveling to other studios, other instructors have commented on the techniques which I have been taught. I have practiced at three studios with her and the current location is the most peaceful and intimate. This will be the best 90 minutes that you spend for yourself. Pros: TEACHER!!! more

Blissfull 3/2/2005

Darla makes each class a meanigful and delightful experience. She pushes just enough with very kind encouragement. I have practiced with her at two locations and must say that this is the best yet. The room is welcoming and nurturing and the class members make each class a very open learning environment. I am so glad that I found Hot Yoga and Darla. more

Darla's the Best! 3/1/2005

Darla is the best yoga instructor in town by far. She truly cares about her practice and her students and it shows in her teaching. I like that she's patient and knowledgeable, and she's constantly expanding her library of yoga books so she knows a ton about all the different types of yoga and positions. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Pros: Lots of classes, Personal instruction, Best teacher around more

Small Classes- Good Teacher 2/26/2005

these smaller classes are a nice change from the overcrowded hot rooms in town. the teacher made me comfortable and was very helpful, but not pushy. parking was easy. the location is near a hindu temple and across the street from a meditation center. it was more like a 'yoga' experience-- instead of another 'retail' experience. a great find away from the high traffic/construction areas! Pros: location, price, instruction more
