Best

I've lived in Atlanta for 17 years now and this is my favorite place in the entire city. The words that I always use to describe it are : intimate, loose, hip, stylish, inviting, ...

Worst

We chose Apres Diem for a late night birthday dinner, a party of 5, when we arrived we had to wait a few minutes for a table, which was not a problem, so two of us went to the bar...

time to close this place 2/24/2008

With so many choices for good food in the Midtown Promenade shopping center, you're making the wrong decision if you stop here to eat. I can't believe it's still here after several years. Pros: prime location Cons: they totally waste the opportunity with bad food and service more

Why do people eat here ? 9/30/2007

This is the comment I submited in an email to the manager, Big surpised that it was bounce back as unable to deliver mail box full: Pros: location Cons: service, bathrooms, service more

Good times to be had at Apres Diem 9/29/2007

I will be the first to admit that I have never tried the food at Apres, but it's a fav among my late night hangouts. I could sit on the patio for hours chatting it up with friends or just stop in for a quick glass of wine after catching a flick at Midtown Art Cinema next door. The staff is friendly and the music is pumping-go on a Sunday to hear DJ Bigg H. Check it out. Pros: good music, nice patio Cons: wine list could use improvement more

Ideal for drinks and relaxing 9/20/2007

All the times I have eaten here the food has been rather disappointing. Appetizers were ok. However coffee and drinks are good! Love the location since it's right outside the Midtown Art Cinema. Lots of patio seating which is great for summer/fall evenings. Romantic atmosphere. Inside, the music is good, the bar is busy, and the lounge couch seating is also nice. Pros: Location Cons: Food more

Bad Fish 8/23/2007

I had your sashimi grilled last night at around 9 o'clock. Just wanted to say thanks so much for making me spend the rest of the evening in my bathroom. I hope for your sake no one else had that same magical experience and that you take a closer look at your fish. more

Smoky and hazy 7/22/2007

As a non-smoker, I was disappointed when I realized that patrons could smoke both on the outdoor patio and inside the restaurant (although that seemed to be going on at the bar). However, I could smell the smoke and was very disgusted. When we walked in, we sat ourselves at a table in the corner. After waiting a little longer than acceptable, we flagged down a server to inquire as to the location of our actual server. He finally came, and was very helpful when he came over. Although my friend was a little slow at deciding what he wanted, the server was very patient and helped us pick our drinks. The drink menu was small, and consisted of a list of martinis and available spirits. I actually ordered a French martini with the help of the server and found it to be wonderful. For food, I ordered the portobello mushroom sandwich and enjoyed it for it was. I think that the prices are great here, but the variety is limited. There were maybe 5 entrees, a sandwich list, a pasta list, and a breakfast list. Maybe salads too, I can't remember. I am a much bigger fan of Cafe Intermezzo. Unfortunately, we went on a Friday night and the music was loud and smoke was wafting throughout the restaurant. This really compromised any romantic or relaxed ambiance that I had heard about. Overall, my first visit was about average and I would only return here instead of Cafe Intermezzo if I didn't feel like driving far from where I live. Also, if I didn't mind the smoke. Pros: Stays open late but kitchen closes earlier than 2 a.m. Cons: smoking more

Great late night choice! 7/16/2007

My husband and I stopped in here after catching a movie at the Midtown Art Cinema. As we walked into the movie we noticed how romantic and quaint it looked and could not resist ourselves afterwards. Sometimes in Atlanta, you never know what you are going to get, attitude, or poor service/food, etc. We were pleasantly surprised, we wandered around for a second but were quickly guided to seat ourselves. We sat on the outdoor patio where the small candlelit tables and nearby lively conversations were very exciting. The DJ was spinning out the hits, the ambiance was romantic and the artwork gallery was compelling. We ordered wine and dessert and $12 later had a wonderful late night treat, great attentive service and the promise that we would return soon. Pros: romantic ambience, reasonable prices, attentive service Cons: located in snobby Midtown, scared me initially more

Park perfect location 6/1/2007

My fiance and I decided to stop by here for our first time after a day of sun at the park had left us exhausted and thirsty! When we walked in there was a sign that said ""seat youself"". We took a table inside near the windows so we could enjoy a few minutes of air conditioning and cool off. We were quickly greeted with water and a warm smile from a pretty young brunette. She introduced herself as Terrie and asked if we had ever been there before. When we told her we had not she told us about some drinks that she said were her favorites. I took her advice and ordered a raspberry margarita and my fiance ordered a Bass. The drinks came out quickly and cold. We ordered the fruit and cheese plate that our server recommended and were again very satisfied. While we dined our water was always full and the table was kept clear. We only had an appetizer, but it was great and it was a rare treat to have service in Atlanta from someone who actually seemed to enjoy their job. We will definitely be back ! Pros: Attentive service Cons: Smells a little stale more

Great food and great service! 5/27/2007

Last night was my first visit to Apres Diem. We arrived around 9pm and had no trouble finding a table. We sat outside and the atmosphere was great! Our server wasted no time taking our drink orders; I got the Pomegrante Martini. Delicious and strong! For an appetizer we ordered the Baba Ghanouj; roasted eggplant and pita bread. We were not disappointed here either. I ordered the Almond Encrusted Chilean Sea Bass as my entree and truth is, it melted in my mouth!!!!! My fiance ordered the steak special, Sirloin and King Crab Legs, this too proved to be amazing. When we left the restaurant we agreed we would definitely return. David was our server. He was extremely attentive and friendly. Great atmosphere, service and food! Pros: Ambience, food and service Cons: Outside seating can get noisy but you can move inside more

Pretentious and Pitiful 4/2/2007

I knew I was in trouble when I happened to look up at the ceiling and there seemed to be dust bunnys all over the rafters. It was disgusting to look at. Now, lets talk about the concept of a bistro. Bistros are supposed to be faster than a restaurant. Apres Diem definitely avoids any association with the word fast. In this case, I think that bistro is an attempt to say that Apres Diem is some kind of French or European dining experience. However, when I looked at the menu I found precious little that would give me that impression. Several sandwiches, a handful of typical appetizers, and standard breakfast fare says nothing European to me. I ended up ordering one of the specials which was a Belgian Waffle with Scrambled Eggs and Sausage. The Waffle came out with the Eggs on top of the Waffle. I guess this was some type of attempt at creativity but it made it gross. The Waffle itself was hard in places except the soggy areas where the eggs were laying. I have had much better waffles out of my toaster oven. All of the components of the meal were stale and seemed to have been laying around in the back since first thing that morning. Lastly, the service was absolutely pathetic. I mean, I am really sorry that we inconvenienced our waitress by coming in that day. I will make sure it never happens again. Cons: Dirty, Slow, Bad Food more

love love love this place 1/3/2007

This place is really great. It has many different areas to sit- a front patio and covered patio, a comfortable lounging area, bar area, and a large space with just regular dinner tables. I moved around several times. I came for Wednesday jazz night, and it set a very cool atmosphere. The servers are wonderful as well, very polite and friendly. I had a Chai tea for only 2-dollars-something-cents, and it came in a huge mug, very delicious as well. I also had the most delicious cheesecake/chocolate custard cake ever, I forget what she called it though- sooo creamy complemented with raspberry sauce and whipped cream to make it absolutely heavenly. If I ever get a boyfriend, I'd definately take him here, because it would be a very romantic setting, it's dark with candles everywhere. There are many singles there as well (and guys that'll buy you drinks)- very strong long island iced tea by the way. I highly recommend Apres Diem. Pros: everything more

Great Food 11/19/2006

We came here for dinner before a movie and were very happy with the food and service. I had the salmon farfalle and my husband had the fettucini, both dishes were excellent. They have deserts from Alon's which are great. We will definately come back here! more

tips from an apres server 8/19/2006

First, I would like to start off with a quick rebuttal to some of the server rants: more

Pork confit, I'm loving it 8/7/2006

Service : good in general. Pros: Pork confit more

Don't be fooled 8/6/2006

While I think Apres Diem sets a nice atmosphere and the food is good, **it is all but erased by the poor service and bad attitude of the many waitresses** there. While the restaurant has some good servers, at least half of them act like it is you, the customer, who should be grateful that they are gracing you with their presence. Pros: Good food and atmosphere Cons: Bad service, most wait staff have terrible attitudes more

Incredible Atmosphere 7/27/2006

Love it all. I have never had a terrible experience at this restaurant. Usually a great place for a first dates or meeting friends if you are prone to be more comfortable in casual environment. It is never too noisy and there is always eyecandy as artists are showcased on the walls. Pros: Ambience Cons: Seating limited more

Awful Service 7/16/2006

I went to Apres Diem the other night with some friends. We were seated very quickly and so we thought ""wow, what luck"". Unfortunately that's where the luck ended. It took 15 minutes for a waitress to come over and take our drink order, then another 10 minutes to take our meal orders. When the drinks were served they were placed in front of us without asking who had ordered which wine. A friend wasn't served her glass of wine until she got up (15 minutes after everyone alse had their glass) and asked a server what was going on. Cons: Service and parking more

Always enjoyable 2/27/2006

I've been to Apres a few times and each has been a good experience. I've only tried the hummus off the bar menu, but it was some of the best I have tried. The waitstaff is mostly attentive & friendly and the drinks are good. From a first date to surfing your laptop on a mundane day, Apres would be great to visit anytime. Pros: Location, Atmosphere, Food Cons: Not one more

not what it used to be 1/8/2006

unlike most restaurants don't expect to get what you want. Wait staff should remember to be polite if they can't be helpful. We asked for eggs well done and waitress anounced that it would be too much trouble for the kitchen staff especially since they ""expected to be busy"". At this hour there were only two other people eating. If this is how they plan to treat customers, they will not be busy too much longer. Definitely not getting any of my money. Pros: none now Cons: poor service, mediocre food , overpriced more

OK but should be better. 10/15/2005

I can see why on the surface, a lot of people like Apres Diem. It has a great patio, it's convinient in spite of it's strip mall location and it's generally happening with a good looking, hip crowd. That's also why it's so dissapointing. It should be a lot better and it doesn't seem like they care to make it so. They have found their niche and the crowd comes anyway. So what if the service sucks... hey, they're cute! So what if the pasta is over-cooked and bland... what a great atmosphere! So what if you are paying premium prices to be ignored... the weather is awesome tonight! It's funny how they ignore you when they are waiting on you and then dissapear when you want to pay. Well... not really funny, just odd and annoying. Worth a check it out sometime, but you can do better. Pros: Great patio, Hip crowd, Cool music Cons: Mediocre service, Mediocre food, Over priced more
