its kinda like a reward when ever you go here.... the outside is very pleasant and the inside structure of this restaurant is quite simple but elegant... you should try it here......

Condescending Servers 5/31/2007

This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. My husband and I love to come to Seattle frequently and stay at the Inn At The Market. We had never tried this restaurant but it?s close proximity to one of our favorite hotels meant we had to give it a try. We had reservations which had been re-confirmed the day before and we arrived 10 minutes early. Even so there was some confusion as to where we would sit and it took several minutes to be shown to our table. When we were seated our server turned the reservation card around to show the next reservation for our table which included the name and time of the next reservation and he drew our attention to it while mentioning how much time we had to order, eat and get out.\r \r While ordering I asked for a different side dish than what came with my meal. Our server commented that I really didn?t know what flavors went together or I wouldn?t have asked for the change. When one of our table mates asked where the restroom was located she was corrected with a sneer and told that the WASHROOM was located at the back of the restaurant. Our entire meal was a study in how to treat people as though they were ignorant, unsophisticated, and beneath contempt; at one point our servers huffing and puffing became so outrageous that we all began to chuckle.\r \r The food was OK. The fried avocado was bland and greasy, the beef dishes were well cooked and my side dish wasn?t too bad despite our servers warning to the contrary. However, it is hard to appreciate the food when you are being so ill treated. So while we will continue our patronage at the Inn At The Market we will explore other dining options.\r Cons: Poor Service more

Fresh with a bohemian ambiance 5/17/2007

One of the more interesting hors de ouvres i have had in my travels is the fried avacado and crab. The corn relish mixed with the lime dressing was a delight. As well, the Halibut in champagne sauce was fresh and perfectly cooked. However, the dessert was a disapointment. Im not usually a dessert fan but the plate of tempting treats was just that! Alas i was disapointed in the blackberry slump, the crust was chewy and hard to cut, perhaps due to a microwave zap or just not perfected, but it was the only part of the meal that was not up to par. \r \r Sitting at the bar which overlooks the grill was a treat. the service was friendly and prompt. the location is nice for a decent walk to the market and back up Pikes and i would recommend the place as a romantic spot to take a date. The price is at the highend of the spectrum but the end result was well worth it. Pros: Good food with a flair, excellent service Cons: Dessert more

Fantastic! All of it! 5/8/2007

We called ahead to ask if they could do something vegan on a busy Saturday and, not only did they make an amazing dinner, they added it to the menu that evening. Fantastic service with a nice humorous edge and appreciated dry wit! Service was not oversolicited in the least nor was our server at all snooty. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!\r \r Pros: Great food, great service Cons: parking can be a pain in the city in a truck. more

Not what I expected 5/6/2007

Service was great but food was average at best. Drink choices other than wine were limited and not very good. For the price, I think I would go somewhere else next time. Pros: Good service, nice wine list Cons: Pricey for portion size more

My Favorite Seattle Restaurant 4/11/2007

When in Seattle, I always make a point to visit 94 Stewart. Creative menus, marvelous flavors, truly ""family"" staff atmosphere. Try the monthly wine dinners for a truly fun and delicious evening. Be prepared for ""fun with attitude"". Andy and staff have repeatedly salvaged days that weren't so great until I arrived at 94 Stewart. more

It was O.K. 4/7/2007

My husband and I went to 94 for dinner and unfortunately our experience was very hot and cold. The hostess was almost unfriendly in her greeting. She found our name in the computer and seated us immediately with no warmth, or smile, or really any communication at all. The waiter was almost schizophrenic in his serving. One minute he was smiling and laughing and a beacon of hospitality, but the next visit he seemed almost sullen and had a lot of attitude. The food also seemed to be hot and cold for us. The Romaine & Blue salad was wonderful, but we asked for it to be split and instead of doing that in the kitchen they just brought an extra plate forcing us to reach across the table to split the salad ourselves. Certainly a small inconvenience, but it would have been nice for them to take care of that for us. We had the Foie Gras Terrine and found it to be fairly flavorless. I was disappointed since I normally enjoy foie gras, although maybe the style of preparation and my lack of understanding it was to blame. I had the Oregon Rabbit which was amazing! The texture, the flavor, every aspect was right on the mark. My husband had the Roast Pork Loin which was tepid at best. The flavor was good, but it just wasn't hot enough, and it seemed a bit dry. Maybe the plate sat for a while before being delivered. I don't think I will visit 94 Stewart again since there are so many good restaurants in the area that have truly impressed from the first visit on. more

What deli do you eat at? 4/4/2007

Of the 20 items on the lunch menu I only see four of them as sandwiches? Why don't you order something else? And what deli are you going to that offers anything even close in quality and freshness to the few this restaurant is offering this month? Yes you can get chemical filled, weeks old, coleslaw at KFC, but with the option for fresh hand made coleslaw, I'll choose it every time (what is that lovely sauce they make it with). The few times I'll had the fortune to be able to dine with the family at 94 I have always felt the chef was open to question and my opinions. I know she changes the lunch menu all most every month and if there was something different I had in mind I'm sure she would put great thought into it. I guess I'm more of the old school of thought; if I have a complaint I let them know in person and not wait to complain where little to nothing can be said or done about it. I guess some people are just happier complaining all the time. Appears to be a common problem in this information age. I'm happy there are still restaurants in this big city that still believe in the small town ideals. I'll keep 94 at the top of my list and continue to enjoy whatever the chef feels like creating that day, because I will always know I get not just the best fresh ingredients, but I know she is giving it her all every time. If there is ever anything I do not like, don't worry I won't be a coward, I will let her know face to face as any person should do. Pros: Small town personal service in the big city more

don't believe the hype, snotty, snooty, average 4/2/2007

Highly Unimpressed 3/17/2007

My friend and I went here on a Sunday evening. Although it was not busy, the waiter seemed to be hurrying us along. We had the fried avacado appetizer. The crab part was really good but the avacado itself was very bland. My friend had the pork chop which was average at best. Not very flavorful and cold. I got the steak. It was very fatty, tough and also cold. Why we ordered dessert I don't know. Both of them looked as if they were in the pastry case uncovered for a week. The crust was so hard that by the time I applied enough pressure to get my fork through it, it almost flew off the table. And both tasted terrible. The wine list is impresssive and our bottle was great, however it was one that I knew well and never dissappoints. I dine out a lot in Seattle and am often asked for suggestions from friends. I will never recommend this place. Very very disappointed and unimpressed. more

Andy's great! 3/11/2007

We met up with another couple for dinner on friday night and Andy was our server. He was quite jovial and told us a bit about the establishment and how much he loved the place. 3 of the 4 of us are discerning wine drinkers who were pleasantly surprised at Andy's recommendation of _____? I can't remember what it was, but it was a luscious red that was totally reasonably priced and suited our meals beautifully. So good, that we had 2 bottles. The menu changes constantly so for us, appetizers consisted of an outrageously good seared scallop salad, and an equally great mushroom soup. It was a little rainy out and we were looking for some uncomplicated, hearty comfort food. I had the crab linguine w/sundried tomato and wilted spinach which didn't disappoint with it's generous portions of whole crab leg. My husband had the new york steak which he said was pretty good. I asked him why he didn't get the pork chop or any other meat dish on the menu for that matter, and his response was that he didn't like any of the preparations ... he's not a meat with warm fruit kind of guy. But he did say his soup was superb and that the foie gras terrine (appetizer) was very memorable. All of the desserts were made in house and were wonderfully uncomplicated ... very generous in size and more rustic and approachable than the tall swirly dealios you see everywhere now. We had chocolate cake made with Oban scotch, a warm blueberry cobbler/tart a la mode, and caramel cheesecake. Sometimes it's not about the drama ... sometimes, you just want some good food. We'll be back. Pros: great wine selection, relaxed atmosphere, takes reservations Cons: of course ... parking more

I recommend it all the time 2/8/2007

I'm a concierge nearby, and I send folks to 94 Stewart whenever I can. I've been in at least 10 times in the past couple of years and have never been let down by the food or the service. Sounds like the last reviewer must have caught them on a very bad day--certainly possible--but not my experience there. At lunch you must have the crabby sandwich, and I suggest sitting at the counter to watch the chef-owner at work. She is pure zen beauty. Really in her element. For dinner, take the server's suggestions. Let them guide you. You won't regret it. Pros: Great food, amazing wine list, casual and funky setting Cons: parking more

94 gets a 49 2/2/2007

We spotted the restaurant on the way back from an errand and decided to give the restaurant a try for lunch as our business often includes recommending good places to eat. We were seated by a pleasant young busser and given one (?) menu for the two of us. The server, Andy, who was wearing a backwards cap (unusual for inside a business) approached and was a bit standoffish as he informed us of the soup of the day. Bread plates were placed on the table but bread was never served. When the server came back to take our order, he was a bit impatient as we could tell by his body language. The food was brought to to the table by the same server a while later and since there were only two of us, it was a bit odd to have the ""Denny's"" treatment of ""who gets the...?"" One would think such a restaurant would have servers who know how to properly record customer seating and and their noted food orders. My friend ordered a Reuben and enjoyed his sandwich. I ordered a Cobb Salad for $16 and was a bit dissapointed with the size and presentation as it differed from the typical presentation. The dressing was very heavy on the salad. The server delivered the salad and left without offering pepper (not on the table) and when I called him back over, his expression was one of complete annoyance. The busser did a good job of keeping the waters full. When we were finished with our meals, the server asked if we wanted dessert or coffee but did not offer any extra effort to tease our dessert palate. We were handed our check which included an industry discount (the discount was appreciated and concluded he saw our name tags on our jackets before we took them off) but there was no verbal acknowldegment or conversation thanking us for our business or future referrals. We did not see any sign of management or staff on the floor other than the server and the busser. Overall, we were not very pleased. more

Made our first anniversary unforgetable 1/2/2007

I'm a Seattle native and have been to many of the nice restaurants in the city. For our one year anniversary, my husband and I celebrated in Seattle. I had a hard time deciding where we would go. We chose 94 Stewart because we love family owned places. We were amazed by the food and overwhelmed by the service. They went out of their way to make our anniversary special! My husband (from the midwest) loves steak and orders it often. He said this steak was the best he had ever had. This is quite a place and we will definitely be return visitors when we are in Seattle. Pros: Great food, fun service, small and cozy feel Cons: we can't visit more often because we don't live in Seattle more

great dinner before the show 12/20/2006

My gal and I ate here before a play. We were running late and only had an hour. The waiter ensured that we were out of there promptly and even had a cab waiting for us to whisk us away to the theatre. I thought the service was excellent. The food was also very good. I had the beef tenderloin and it was magnificent. it was cooked to perfection. It was rare, but not too rare. The sauce was also very good, not too over powering. The avocado appetizer was also very good. The lady had scalllops which were fabulous. Next time I will allow for more time. They had a great dessert menu.\r \r I also liked the ""feel"" of the bistro...very funky place. Pros: service, food, wine...nice place without pretense more

Salt, Salt and More Salt 12/9/2006

My wife an I took two visiting CA friends to 94 Stewart today, along with our law student son. The food was incredibly over salted, the lamb sausage in the so called Cassolet (a thin soup in this version) was raw and the steak was almost completely missing from my son's New York Steak Sandwich. Oh, and the waiter was smug and indifferent. They boast of a 400 bottle wine cellar, but were out of my first four wine choices. There are many better bistro styles restaurants in Seattle. Avoid this one. more

Top Notch all Around 11/17/2006

Thoroughly enjoyed my night at 94 Stewart. Service was warm and attentive and you just had the feeling that staff and customers were both happy being there. This night I planned to have an appetizer, salad and dessert and skip the main dish. Started out with the soup of the day which was excellent. Pumpkin and smoked bacon with a nice balance of spice. Next, the Scallop and Endive salad which was just wonderful. Next a chocolate caramel torte, which had I been doing good on my diet up this point, was now all shot to you know where. All in all, a great spot with over the top service and selection. Looking forward to going back. Pros: Excellent food and Service Cons: Not having room to try more dishes more
