Superb or Better 8/27/2010

Great service, Put a query up on ServiceMagic for a/c repair and they called me with an immediate appointment before I could log off computer. Eugene was courteous, knowledgeable and explained everything. We were dealing with a 20 year old central system in 105 degree weather so I knew I ran the risk of being held hostage to any b.s. If they had told me the compressor was shot and I had no choice except a new $5k system I would have probably seen no recourse. Instead, Eugene worked quickly to identify the problem and found one burned out component in the compressor on the roof. Up and running 20 minutes later for $185. Fabulous. Best part was, unlike other previous a/c repair services, no hustle, no attempt to sell me a seasonal service contract, now hawking of a car of filters for the next ten years. Just great professional service under conditions that opened the door to any rip-offs. more

Worst in the Business 8/21/2010

If I can give this place "0" stars I would. Perhaps the worst customer service I've experienced in business. They sent a technician twice to our house to repair my mobile air conditioning unit. The first time, they found nothing wrong with the unit "not cooling". So the 2nd time they finally realized that it was not cooling so they took the unit and said that it would be repaired and brought back within 3 days. Well, it's been 2 1/2 weeks and several run-arounds later... I am still waiting for the unit. Good luck talking to a manager, they're just as unhelpful as everyone else. The only thing he could say was "the parts department is closed... call back next week... we don't have the parts... please call back." Well, I've been calling back as instructed and I keep being told that it will be another week because the parts department is closed". Save yourself the money and stress. more

Wow - I'm glad I actually didn't read YELP prior to calling these guys. I was a little skeptical at first and very anxious about hiring off the web to begin with, BUT they were actually good. Fixed the dishwasher for $130 (with $10 coupon) in about one hour. Their reported diagnosis fee is $35 which goes to the cost of fixing your appliance. The issue was electrical - wires needed to be repaired and the dishwasher was taken apart in the process. I was impressed that John from Ukraine was able to fix it at all. - Fast service - Reasonable price in my opinion - Courteous and focused more

Bad Technician Experience with West Coast 8/10/2010

I don't like writing negative reviews but this company did a poor job. I needed an installation on a stove and a hood for the stove. The technician they sent lacked a basic understanding of American standard for Ranges and hoods. We showed him the specifications for the stove and he told us it wouldn't fit the area. This was incorrect. The people in the office were nice but said they needed the specifications to set up installation. It was all about getting me locked in and not the service. I told them I already provided the technician with the specifications. They kept trying to close the deal. I ended up paying significantly more for installation elsewhere but peace of mind mattered more than doing it on the cheap with West Coast Repair. more

My Fridge stopped cooling yesterday 1/25/10, and I used google & Yelp to see what was in my area.\r I called West Coast because they were local.\r The repair guy showed up more or less on time, he did have to call to verify the address.\r He worked for about forty five minutes and repaired the fridge. As far as I can say I am happy with the service and I am pleased with the result.\r At this point I can say I would use them again if I have a problem. more

I submitted a request for washing machine repair through Service Magic and these were the first guys who called, so I just scheduled them. Then I read some of the negative reviews and got really nervous. To my relief, the guy showed up when he was supposed to, he was friendly, professional, nice to my cats (which I appreciate), and when he almost fell down my stairs, he made some jokes about it. More importantly, he fixed my washing machine in 5 minutes and showed me what to do if the same problem occurred again and only charged me the $35 initial visit fee. Admittedly, my problem was a very minor one, so I didn't have to deal with ordered parts or repeat visits, but I was very pleased with the level of professionalism and service. more
