Best

john s has given me the best haircuts of my life!

Worst

I am 13 years old and from Wayzata, Minnesota. I have gone to Twiggs three times in the past year for highlights & a haircut. The first time was last July, when I was getting high...

Six years of satisfaction 8/18/2010

My sister, mother and I have been going to Twiggs Salon for 6 years. We were recommended to Twiggs from another salon that really messed up my sisters hair. All of us have been going to see Kelly, she is great and I would recommend her to anyone. I know many different types of women who continue going to Twiggs, such as goths, preps, rockers, sporty girls, country club types. All of whom are satisfied and continue to go back. I have had the best eyebrow waxing ever at Twiggs. I didn't know my eyebrows could look so good. They have great conditioning treatments. I always love my cut. Once my sister got her makeup done, but it did not look very good (probably because she is basically albino and it's hard to work with her skin). But that is the only complaint for the work we have. I'm sure many people who have complained about Twiggs has based their opinions on things they have seen on tv. Well that is TV, it's scripted. The producers needed a villian, and they made the salon look like one. Don't base your judgement on what tv has shown, but on people's experience. I don't know anyone who has a complaint about the salon based on the salon. PS, my mother, who has been going to Twiggs for 6 years, is a fat women who has been a fat women since before going to the salon. She really is and she has always been treated well. I will admit there is an atmosphere to the decor, which can come off as snobbish. This is only noticeable if you have seen the tv shows. The art on the wall may seem off putting for some, but it is to promote great artist. And just to be clear, the staff is not snobbish. Pros: reliable results, range of experience, best eyebrow waxes, friendly, great line of products, overall experience Cons: can be expensive (it is located in downtown Wayzata so you can expect it to be expensive), portrayal created on tv (that has no merit) more

amazing salon 6/23/2010

After reading reviews i wasnt expecting much but as a stylist i wanted to check it out for myself. Its so sad people see something on tv and decide to vent and right a review when they most likely havent been there. Its called reality tv for a reason, they capture the worst not the good. That aside I had the most wonderfull experience at twiggs! The staff was was wonderful, i recieved the best cut in a long time. Pros: great staff more

Great 6/7/2010

I heard about this place from a friend a little over a year ago. After my first time going there i was very impressed! Everyone was very nice and I loved the way my hair looked. My stylest Rachel always does exactly what I explain to her that I want. I have gone to many other hair places and this is by far my favorite place! more

Mixed feelings. 6/5/2010

I am 13 years old and from Wayzata, Minnesota. I have gone to Twiggs three times in the past year for highlights & a haircut. The first time was last July, when I was getting highlights for the first time. I asked for a caramel color, which is what I got. They turned ORANGE, and disappeared very quickly. I got highlights again in December along with side bangs and a trim. I brought in a picture of site-model Lauren Cyrus's side bangs to my stylist, Heather. She didn't cut them the right way, she cut them so girly. I wanted them edgy, layered, and large. I had to keep telling her I wanted them bigger and not so soft, but she kept telling me I couldn't because of my hairline?! My trim was great, and they really got all the ends off. That night I had all my friends come over for a sleepover. Only my best friend who came with me to get the highlights done knew I had gotten them. As for my other friends, they couldn't even tell, which honestly pissed me off because I have naturally medium brown hair, and I sort of EXPECT dirty blonde highlights to show up! The last time I got highlights, bangs, and a trim there was May 1. Again, I went to Heather. I wanted to have legitimately blonde hair this time. I showed her the picture of the bangs I wanted (just to see if she would DO them this time) & I needed to get my crappy split ends off. Instead of dyeing my hair, she decided to spend an hour and a half putting a billion highlights in. It took her fourty minutes to decide she was going to shampoo me. She also charged me $43 for a treatment, which DID work, but still. I spent about four hours there. The whole thing was $300. A big rip-off if you ask me. The first week of May I had blonde hair. Now it's chestnut. Wtf? This hair dye is like magically changing. My best friend has redish-chestnut hair. We compared hair colors. The same. I DO NOT HAVE NATURALLY RED HAIR! I HAVE BROWN HAIR. Then in OTHER spots there is a random streak of bleach blonde.! I wanted an even color of dark blonde with some highlights of light light brown. This summer I am trying the Oscar Blandi salon in New York City. Oh, & don't go here. Pros: Good setting. Cons: Conceited staff, takes FOREVER. more

Worst Salon Experience Ever 2/21/2010

I'm new to the area and thought I would give it a try when I was given a coupon at my new apt. I was weary off the bat when I saw the over-bleached, orange tanned young girls at the front desk. I waited 30 min after my appt time and was told it was a miscommunication(overheard another client being told the same thing). They offered me water in a crappy wine glass(it was ridiculous and seemed pretentious, who wants to carry a wine glass around?! Give me a water bottle that I can hold and put a cap on when I move from chair to dryer, etc and won't get hair flying in it!)As far as the style, I knew what I wanted and brought photos of the color and the stylist proceeded to chatter on and on about why my part was wrong and how she would do a ""soft and feminine"" cut(which she repeated about a dozen times) and not being too edgy or angeled(maybe I like trendy and angled!) without listening or asking what I wanted. She managed to diss my old A line cut and color(which I got in AZ, loved and got compliments on all the time, by a great stylist who's booked 4 wks out!). She went on and on about my face shape, basically dissing me making me feel like I had a big forehead and small chin(which I really don't!). Then when we got to the color I wanted, she kept talking about what she thought I should do with highlights and ignoring that I wanted to go back to my natural brunette. I started to have anxiety and feel stressed that she wasn't listening to me and insulted my intelligence. I wanted to leave at that point but tried to take deep breaths and relax and trust her(I should've just left and saved myself 4 hrs and a lot of stress)She then left me sitting to process way too long while she worked on other clients. As I was waiting reading a magazine, another employee came up and started talking to me(I was excited thinking she was going to wash my hair) and she proceeded to give me a rehearsed sales pitch on a $43 treatment that she thought I should get. She was like a robot and it was so fake and pushy! Someone else finally came to wash my hair(by now I've been there for 2 hrs!) and blow dry while I waited for the second color(which I wasn't quoted on the phone in order to go from blonde to brunette and now doubled my bill). My stylist finally appeared and I realized that I wouldn't have time for the cut so she finally started to move faster when I told her it was taking too long(by now I've been there for 3 hrs! and we still had the second color, shampoo and blow dry to do!). So, I finally escaped after $120 color and no cut and 4 hrs!! I even had to wait to pay while the girl at the counter had to go check the price to charge me. It was horrible and so not relaxing. Usually I have fun and feel great when I get my hair done. Instead I had anxiety the entire time about the lack of listening, the criticism, the pushy sales and the time it was taking-I had other plans for the day! It was like no experience I have ever had at a salon. I would never go back, even if they offered a free service to win back a customer! Pros: I escaped after the color, before the cut Cons: Everything more

WORST salon EVER 2/13/2010

I got my hair done at Twiggs around Christmas, and I got a partial foil to redo my roots. About a week later, my roots were clearly evident again and I have never before received such a bad job for over one hundred dollars (and then some..) I do not recommend this salon, I might as well have gone to walgreens and done my hair out of a box. Cons: hair color didn't last more

Shauna is a JOKE 2/3/2010

Shauna, Cons: needs a reality check more

Beautiful Salon with High Standards of Fashion 12/13/2009

This salon is very beautiful and located in a great city. In reading the other reviews I am absolutely shocked. I myself am not thin and I don't consider myself the most glamorous person in the world. However when I went to Twiggs I was treated wonderfully the moment I walked in the door. My stylist was very nice and very informative, and I loved my complimentary massage while I was processing. For anyone that takes reality tv seriously needs a serious awakening! EVERYONE LOOKS BAD ON TV! THATS WHY WE LOVE IT!!!!! And its always the person who claims they are completely fine with the way they look and happy with their flaws who becomes most affended and lashes out. Guess what.. that means you aren't happy with yourself. And just because these women are confident in themselves and confident in making women feel and look beautiful by their services, doesn't give anyone the right to judge. While I will agree the reality series did not show the best sides of the salon, I feel you need to try it for yourself! As I said before it was a reality TV show... its never Reality and being adults you should know that. Pros: Beautiful area and beautiful salon more

Worst Haircut Ever...Shauna 9/16/2009

Can't remember who referred me to this place but I went last minute to ""Shauna"" as I was told she had the most experience. Read other reviews to get the idea about the attitude in this salon...it was a real turn off but worse was the haircut. She used a razor on very thick, curly hair for a disasterous result. I guess it is hair 101 that you do not use a razor with my type of hair but for some odd reason I did not stop her. I have been to many very good salons including in New York and this place is very amateur and should be avoided at all cost. I am amazed that they are still in business. Pros: Can't find any Cons: Arrogance and lack of skill more

OMG!!! 7/22/2009

Ummm I have a question, (a few actually) How many lbs do I have to be to get an appt. at this salong??? Does being pregnant count as being fat, or do I have to wait until after I give birth??? Oh Im mexican, can I still go?? Oh and Shauna doesn't look like Paris Hilton, much less with that little chihuahua anyways, hope I can schedule an appt in this highclass salon so they can do whatever the hell they want and critizise me and how I shouldn't do my own look.... very professional. more

This place is whats wrong with the world 5/11/2009

As a longtime hairdresser, I have to say after watching the split ends episode I was APPALLED. Saying you would never have a fat person work for you, is disgusting. Hairdressing is about making people feel beautiful. Not about being an elitest snob. You can be technically profient and be strong in your craft without the snobbery. I can't see anyone client or hairdresser after watching this episode wanting to work or patron this business. Unless they were masochists of some sort. Pros: Kerastase Cons: mean mean, snobs, mean more

Twiggs on Split Ends 5/11/2009

I was just watching a rerun of the Split Ends episode and omg!! I would never ever go into such a stuffy stuck up salon. Shauna thinks she is all that and I'm sorry there is nothing that special about her she's certainly not as great as she thinks she is. I am an animal lover myself but come on not everyone wants to see a dog when they walk in to get their hair done. Also being a size 2 doesn't make you all that. Kristy seems like a robot (a bitchy one at that) Her comment about the girl from Arizona not making it in another salon other than her mom's well I don't think she (Kristy) could make it in any other salon than Twiggs who would want someone that bitchy and stuck up working for them? If I walked into a salon I would not want her stuffy looking face working on my hair. She needs to take the stick out of her butt and realize she is just a person not a god and she's not perfect and not the only one who can cut hair. I was reading some of the reviews saying it was scripted .BS!!!! At the end all Shauna's minions were saying it was all about the other girl wanting control how hypocritical They all wanted control and from the moment that poor girl walked in the door they made fun of her and didn't even give her a chance. I thought she looked cute and didn't have stripper hair What was stripper about it, it was a common style and a lot of people wear their hair like that. These people need to get off their high horse, check their ego's and get a life. I will not be surprised when I see this salon fail and it will. I'm sure they read the reviews and stick their pointy little noses in the air and think everyone is wrong and then go on and write good reviews about themselves to make everyone else seem like they don't know what their talking about. Just remember Twiggs employees what goes around comes around and yours is coming or maybe it already has that would explain your pathetic lives your not happy so you treat everyone else like they are beneath you. Oh and Shaunna just because you have a salon in a strip mall doesn't mean you are not as good as anyone else. Get the stilt out of your butt and get a nose job maybe that will help your attitude. By the way you dress like a 13 year old and there is nothing great about your hairstyle. I am from MN and we are known as MN nice and you gave us all a bad name. Move on!!! Cons: Everything more

Salon experience 4/28/2009

My stylist, Jennifer offered a consultation in regards to my face shape and color tones. I received makeover suggestions that really made sense. The atmosphere was fun and upscale with a loft type feeling. They truly are there to pamper and make you beautiful! Pros: Stylist consultation more

Poor attiudes 3/12/2009

Wow! OMG! I can not believe that TWIGGS salon is still in business. Shaunna is so low class. That woman oh no...GIRL, needs a reality check. Just pray them..they truly need it. more

Response from a ""Fat Person"" 3/12/2009

After watching the episode of Split End's I have a question for Shaunna. Would you take the money from a ""Fat"" customer? I hope you have had the opportunity to watch yourself on the show and realized how cold and mean you came off. I have seen shows where once the people see themselves they are truly ashamed of how awful they looked and have since mended their ways. From reading your other reviews I bet you wished you had never decided to participate with the swap. I am a successful business woman, wife, mother, and grandmother and I am what you would call ""FAT"". I have taught my children to look at what is inside a person and not the physical part of that person. I bet your mother is ashamed of your attitude. I come from a small town and we have a wonderful spa that made me feel like a million bucks and never once did I feel uncomfortable about my size. I wonder if I would feel the same at your establishment. I too am a dog lover (owning 3 myself) but never would I feel comfortable having a dog in the establishment that I was having my hair done. Maybe if you put your dog down for a minute and loosen up you will be the successful person you think you are. By the way, money isn't everything. I truly hope you have mended your ways. more

Cold, unfriendly and obviously not a place for someone who has pet allergies!!! 2/7/2009

Well I just have to think that if this salon received any stars at all especially 3 or more that it is the salon's employee's such as the ridiculous owner Shaunna or the completely rude and snotty Kristy who posted those just to make their salon look better than what they had shown to the entire public by being on Split Ends. I would never go to a salon who treated people the way Shaunna and Kristy treat people and I am sure that is how they appear even off camera. The only ones that seem tolerable was Amy Jo and possibly David. This salon appears to look very cold and unpersonable. Kristy really needs to stay with this salon, because her attitude would not be well received at too many other salons. Kristy really needs to look into one of those mirrors around that studio and see how truly ugly she is. No amount of make-up and hair teasing will cover the cold and nasty person she is. Shaunna needs to take into consideration that some of her clients have allergies and having the little (dog?) animal in her salon is very inconsiderate to those people (how did she put it? oh yes) who put out the sort of money she expects! I have my hair done often with highlights and coloring and have tested out salons and I would have either never came back after being at Twigg's or would have probable walked out once I realized how inpersonable, rude, snotty and cold this salon really is. I have no problem paying for work that is well done, but I also expect personable and friendly stylist and and warm enviroment and Twigg's has very little of that from what I had seen and even read on here. Shaunna and Kristy you girls seriously need to get over your selves, because it will be a very lonely life when your best friend is a dog. I would not have given this salon even 1 star, but this review site will not allow you to post your review unless you post it with at least 1 star. Cons: Owner and some staff""s cold, rude and snotty attitudes. Not a warm and personable salon...Not a pet free enviroment! more

No more Twiggs for me. 1/17/2009

I have gone to Twiggs for the past 4 years. I did not find out about the Split Ends episode until I had already decided to leave Twiggs after being lied to many times by the Salon. I had an appointment with my stylist in July of 2008. I called ahead to check if there was any earlier availability because I was already in town. I was told that my stylist was with another client and could not get me in earlier. Understandable. However, when I got to the Salon at my scheduled time, I was told that something had come up and she was not there that day. I was then told that David would be taking her clients for the day. After hearing some phone conversations at the desk, I became suspicious and decided to ask to re-schedule for another day. Only then was I told the truth that my stylist was no longer there. Instead of being upfront, the Salon tried to save face, but only ended up losing my business and my referrals. Please do not say mean things about the staff at the Salon. Many of them are only slaves to the owner, who is the real villan in this saga. I have actually seen a client of Shaunna's leave the Salon with a wet head after being put off by Shaunna, who instead was taking the clients appointment time to try to impress a Viking's player that was new to the Salon! Her appointment was delayed so much, that she had to leave before her cut in order to make it to her next appointment. I am happy to report that I have since found my stylist and am once again getting great cuts...just at another Salon! more

I am shocked 11/13/2008

I just watched Split Ends, I realize that a review should be written based on a persons experience but based on what I just watched I would never set foot into Shauna's salon. I can't imagine ever even thinking the rude and judgemental things that Shauna had the nerve to say out loud and on television. Can you imagine the way she ""really"" feels about fat people or anyone that doesn't meet her idea of what the perfect way to look is. I noticed that she doesn't refuse to allow fat customers past the counter. They are not good enough to employee but they are good enough to take their money. Some of these reviews stated that this was scripted, I have watched every episode of Split Ends and find it interesting that no one else has ever behaved in the extreemely rude manner that Shauna and Kristy behaved. I was not surprised that her ""best friend"" was a dog. Apparently she doesn't play well with others. Except perhaps her clone Kristy the stylist sargeant. What a job title. Shauna may think that she is perfectly beautiful on the outside but she is very ugly on the inside. I hope that all of the non perfect people in the twin cities would band together and boycott this discriminating business. more

Discrimination 10/10/2008

My God, why cant we all just get along. I was in a state of shock to see how these folks belittle people. You need to have Tabitha come to your salon and straighten you guys out, talking about fat people and someone wearing a tongue ring. What does a tongue ring or someone been fat have to do with ones styling skills. You guys are not of God. Discriminating like that. So I guess someone black couldn't set foot in your salon. What kind of world are we living in. You all are disgusting, talking about people like that. And that witch, the little overseer or foreman whatever her name is(don't even want to say it) talking to another human being as if she's a dog. I better she wouldn't talk to the so-call owners dog like that. You needed that expose so people can see the real ugliness in each and every one of you. God don't like ugly. Even though the comment dont mean a thing to you all, remember, God is always watching. more

snobby attitude 10/10/2008

the owner was on Splitends the TV show on Style. She presents as an elisits and entitled snob. I would never recommend this salon nor would I ever suggest it to anyone. If I heard someone was going there I would recommend that they dont. She is luck that she has not been sued for hiring descrimintation because she will not hire anyone who is ""fat"". more
