I'm new to the area and thought I would give it a try when I was given a coupon at my new apt. I was weary off the bat when I saw the over-bleached, orange tanned young girls at the front desk. I waited 30 min after my appt time and was told it was a miscommunication(overheard another client being told the same thing). They offered me water in a crappy wine glass(it was ridiculous and seemed pretentious, who wants to carry a wine glass around?! Give me a water bottle that I can hold and put a cap on when I move from chair to dryer, etc and won't get hair flying in it!)As far as the style, I knew what I wanted and brought photos of the color and the stylist proceeded to chatter on and on about why my part was wrong and how she would do a ""soft and feminine"" cut(which she repeated about a dozen times) and not being too edgy or angeled(maybe I like trendy and angled!) without listening or asking what I wanted. She managed to diss my old A line cut and color(which I got in AZ, loved and got compliments on all the time, by a great stylist who's booked 4 wks out!). She went on and on about my face shape, basically dissing me making me feel like I had a big forehead and small chin(which I really don't!). Then when we got to the color I wanted, she kept talking about what she thought I should do with highlights and ignoring that I wanted to go back to my natural brunette. I started to have anxiety and feel stressed that she wasn't listening to me and insulted my intelligence. I wanted to leave at that point but tried to take deep breaths and relax and trust her(I should've just left and saved myself 4 hrs and a lot of stress)She then left me sitting to process way too long while she worked on other clients. As I was waiting reading a magazine, another employee came up and started talking to me(I was excited thinking she was going to wash my hair) and she proceeded to give me a rehearsed sales pitch on a $43 treatment that she thought I should get. She was like a robot and it was so fake and pushy! Someone else finally came to wash my hair(by now I've been there for 2 hrs!) and blow dry while I waited for the second color(which I wasn't quoted on the phone in order to go from blonde to brunette and now doubled my bill). My stylist finally appeared and I realized that I wouldn't have time for the cut so she finally started to move faster when I told her it was taking too long(by now I've been there for 3 hrs! and we still had the second color, shampoo and blow dry to do!). So, I finally escaped after $120 color and no cut and 4 hrs!! I even had to wait to pay while the girl at the counter had to go check the price to charge me. It was horrible and so not relaxing. Usually I have fun and feel great when I get my hair done. Instead I had anxiety the entire time about the lack of listening, the criticism, the pushy sales and the time it was taking-I had other plans for the day! It was like no experience I have ever had at a salon. I would never go back, even if they offered a free service to win back a customer! Pros: I escaped after the color, before the cut Cons: Everything
