Dynamic Duo! Jill and Jean really are amazing!! I recently moved to NYC and have been meeting with a lot of headhunters when I walked in to the Harper group. Within minutes I knew that this agency was different from any other agency that I met with. They made me feel like I was their only client, and took the time to get to know me, and what my needs and wants are in a job. They kept in touch with me on a daily basis, keeping me up to date with my progress on the jobs that I interviewed for and also letting me know of any new positions that they thought I would be interested in. I got the personal attention and the great advice that I have never before gotten from any other staffing company. The Harper Group is the most amazing employment agency in the city! These women are so friendly and personal you feel like they're your long time friends. They go out of their way to help you find the perfect fit. I've had the chance to interview with the most elite companies that before I would have only dreamed about. I found a great job posting online and sent in my resume. I got a call from the ladies at the Harper Group that same day! The next day I was set up with an interview and less than a week later I was offered an incredible job! Jill, Jean and Camille were so attentive, they took the time to meet with me and go over my resume, interview skills, and even helped with the thank you letters that I sent out! I've been to a few other employment agencies in the city and none have come close to giving the personal attention I received from this group. Their cosy office is extremely inviting, not once did I feel like I was at an employment agency. It is clear that Jill, Jean and Camille truly have my best interests in mind and wanted me to get the job of my dreams as much as I wanted to! They might be a small agency but they are doing BIG things! It was an absolute pleasure to work with them- I highly recommend The Harper Group. I'm glad so many people have positive experiences with this agency. I don't want to slam the agency, but just express the experience I had. First, I waited over an hour in a waiting room with no magazines, no receptionist. I didn't want to leave because I'd read such glowing reports from this board, and I hoped that this dynamic duo could do the same for me. Didn't happen. I have a great breadth of experience, from Executive Assistant in Advertising, Media and Production. In addition to my experience, I have an advanced degree. In short, I'm highly employable. After these two finally showed up, I received a glib apology. I stated what my preference was in terms of working, but said I'd take anything on a temp basis. I was then chided for having a low self-esteem and cruddy resume. I left feeling pretty low, got a pocket-full of empty promises and, wouldn't you know it, never heard back from these two. Not even a follow-up. I place this review so that anyone else who gets this treatment won't take it personally. There are many, many agencies in the city. had been looking for a job unsuccessfully for months when out of the blue i was contacted by the kind ladies of the harper group. i met with them the next morning, a few days later i interviewed at a luxury fashion house, met with some of my prospective co-workers, and voila, the job was mine just days later. it helps that i am very driven, focused, and i hope well-presented, but my IN and the biggest push was the harper group. wouldn't be where i am without them. Upon first entering the Harper Group it's a somewhat surreal experience! The office is shared with a children's speech therapist so you may experience Dora the Explorer songs in the waiting room! I was offered the opportunity to fill out the application in a private office, but after sitting in many agency waiting rooms I found this a delightful atmosphere. I don't know why it's called a waiting room because you don't wait! Yes, the office is small and they've obviously outgrown it, but it's charming and intimate. Jean and Jill explain ahead of time that there may be interruptions by clients which is so much nicer than sitting in a chair unprepared for the constant interruptions by large rooms and twenty people saying "what does she do?' with no real care for me as a person. Jean and Jill cared about who I was as a person first and my resume second. It was so refreshing. They're warm, friendly and there is an obvious camraderie amongst the employees. More importantly, they got me a great job...in an industry that I requested. They never tried to talk me into anything othewise! So, go visit this adorable, Dora the Explorer office, enjoy the personalized care and get an amazing job! As a recent college graduate it's been very disheartening looking for a job. I've been to 8 employment agencies, spent hours testing and talking and finally decided that I would try one more and that's it. It's hard enough to leave a life of fun, friends and face the scarey first job. Every agency I went to told me they had jobs for me. Every one of them introduced me to a ton of people and made promises galore. I followed up as told only to be ignored, forgotten or abused for not wanting to go on jobs that did not interest me. Then I found the Harper Group. I felt at home the moment I walked in. First of all it's not on "agency row," but a pretty street in midtown. Jean and Jill are a great team. It was evident that my "life" was not in two hands but four. One of the nicest parts of going to The Harper Group was experiencing the relationship between Jill and Jean. They're sharp, funny and made me feel as if I was the only person they were working with. I felt like I counted and could count on them. While I was there a company called looking for a temp in the fashion industry. J&J asked me if I wanted to work in the company and sure enough they hired me within only a few days! This was not only the best experience I've had in my job search, but a job beyond my dreams. I even got to help at the fashion shows in Bryant Park. Thanks Jean and Jill! Well, with all the hub-bub on this site about this agency, I decided to heed the advice of the stellar reviews and give them a try. I figured I couldn't go wrong with a woman-owned firm who is swimming in clients. I sent them an email with an attached resume and... no response. I called to follow up, was told to email it again, given a different email address, and was hung up on in mid sentence. Assuming they were busy and not on top of their email, I did as told. Again...No response! This is unprofessional behavior at its finest. I have interviewed with several agencies in the time since these people have received my resume. I don't know what their story is, but I am not impressed. I give them a below average rating, because even though I did not have much interaction with them in terms of a work relationship, their initial behavior is poor and indicative of a chaotic and scattered office. Let me tell you something about The Harper Group. Even if I didn't view or hear of any fantastic web page reviews about this wonderful company, I would still have something positive to say. Since, I've been looking for employment The Harper Group has tremendously given there all into finding a position that is the perfect fit. Not only do they find me the perfect fit, they search for the top companies out there. I've been to several employment agencies and by far this is the only one that has stayed on top of their game! Jill and Jean are a fabulous team. I'd had some disappointment with one of the larger staffing companies, but The Harper Group took my experience and interests to heart. First, we discussed my resume, and my strengths and weaknesses. There was no "fudging", no "tweaking", and certainly no downplaying of my skills. Then we talked about my career goals. Where did I see myself in a few years? How did I plan on getting there? What would my ideal position be? Then, LITERALLY THAT DAY, they got me an interview. I saw them at 10am, and had an interview by 3pm. The Harper Group found me the perfect position ... one in which I could learn and grow ... and they coached me before the interview. The ladies at the Harper Group were amazing. I came to this city with no contacts and they were the only placement agency who spoke with me. Within 3 days I had a job at one of the largest companies in the city. It's a small outfit, but don't let that fool you. Unlike some big faceless agency, they will be the ones who get you a job. What a wonderful ride. When I arrived at the Harper Group I wanted to turn around and leave. My experience with other Agencies at best was frustrating. Then I meat with Jean and Jill and everything changed. I think Jill is psychic! She got me an interview for the next day on the spot, and from there it is history. Listen to what they say and just do it. Jill and Jean know what they are doing. They will follow up with you and they will be honest. They got me the perfect job. They're friendly and personable and the small office atmosphere allows for the one-on-one attention that lacks from the cattle-feel of the larger recruiting agencies. A toddler w/cheerios all over the floor! I thought, "run!" Jean walked out and brought me in to meet Jill. They explained that they share an office with a speech therapist so not to be surprised if we got a visit from a kid looking for colorforms!" They've grown so fast that they didn't anticipate the space problem. THG thinks enough of their clients to explain moving space. The kids actually give the office charm. They say don't judge a book by it's cover. There are no suits here. It's a very casual environment which showed me that it's not about the look of your counselor it's about the care.You'll never see a suit here, just a great job! I'm glad I didn't let the cheerios fool me .Don't judge THG by the space. Judge it by the service and the good reasons why they're run out of space! When I decided to re-enter the job market, I was very skeptical of recruiters as I've never had success with one before. What a different experience with Jill and Jean!! I met with them on Tuesday, they had 3 interviews set up for me on Wednesday!!! I went on a series of interviews with one company that they worked hard to set up for me and after my 3rd and final interview I was offered the job.
