Best

I have read most of the reviews and just 'gotta tell ya' -- we had an excellent first experience before an ASO concert last week. I had done my research before making a reservati...

Worst

My wife and I decided to try Table 1280 before we visited the High Museum. We started with two starters, the Shrimp and Grits and an Arugula salad. The shrimp and grits were clo...

Atlanta is not ready for 1280 12/14/2005

So far no one has given props to Renzo Piano for designing such a beautiful space as 1280. The decor is supposed to be stark. The service is supposed to be brute and the food is right on the money. Table 1280 is more affordable than a lot of fine dining restaurants in Atlanta. Stop whining about small portions and poor service and have a drink and relax. That is what I think these guys are trying to tell you when you come into a place like 1280. If its not for you then great there is more room for those of us who can afford it and like to hang out there. Make your own decisions on your experience...you might be surprised to find Table 1280 is a pretty cool spot. See you there...... Pros: Original Design, Great Bar Scene, Open Kitchen Cons: Parking $$$, Pre-Theatre Crowd, It gets loud more

What a Let Down 12/9/2005

I had been excited about dining at Table 1280 due to all of the recent hype, but guess that hype is no more than simple publicity & exaggeration. Service was atrocious and we really got tired of hearing the chef screaming and cursing every known four letter word. I know that Halibut is a cold water fish, but did they poach it in icy Atlantic? Bland, unseasoned and cold. Scallops were small and overcooked, If I had wanted a sorry seafood experience, I would have gone to Red Lobster and saved $50; sadly, it might have been better. Lastly, 1280 gives new meaning to the term quiet table. If you want to dine alone on Friday evening at 8:30, this is your place. Dessert we didnt stay for but the $10 parking was the icing on the cake. Pros: "Solitary dining", Frozen Food, Impressive on Exp Rpt Cons: parking, service, overpriced more

A Food High at the New High 11/28/2005

Technically, it is an addition to the Woodruff, but it is just outside the door of the new High. I took a date for dinner after four of us went to the Wyeth exhibit and we all thought the meal was great. The tapas bar is a cool place and you can sit outside on the plaza if it is a nice night. We had chicken on grits and hangar steak, both great. The couple with us had a selection of appetizers -- foie gras and squash soup and whatever the special was. My date and I skipped appetizers but all four of us ordered desserts, and I recommend them all -- we especially liked the fondue and the homemade donuts. I think everything about Table 1280 is a reflection of the new, whre-it-is-happening midtown, and a great addition to the restaurant scene. We'll be back! Pros: appearance, desserts, tapas Cons: paid $10 to park, noisy more

Very nice experience 11/20/2005

My companion and I really enjoyed the food and service. Pros: Service, Food, Location more

Not so Fabulous... 11/14/2005

My boyfriend and I went to visit during the grand opening of the High Museum for a fun date night. We were looking forward to a fabulous dinner but ended up quite dissappointed. the food is very bland and lacks major flavor. the presentation was cute and modern but nothing stood out. to really enjoy the restuarant i suggest hanging out at the hip bar and munching on some tapas. Pros: atmosphere, museum Cons: expensive, uncreative menu more

What a waste! Go somewhere worthy 11/7/2005

At recommendation we went to Table 1280 and had the worst experiences in years. The most incompetent part was the management. We sat in front of the kitchen, I ordered the filet extra rare. When it came out M/MW I sent it back. 20-25minutes later my entree came back. It should never have taken that amount of time for an extra rare. Then the worst part, manager comes over and says he had personally made sure it was rushed? We had sat for 20+ minutes watching him screw around with the staff and do no work for anyone. He then said he would box it for me to go on the house. He then left and never came back with it?! A restaurant can't improve when problems go to upper management! Aside from that, salmon entree was just average, as were our appetizers. PLEASE, go somewhere worthy of the money! Cons: manager is horrible, no customer service, average food cant imp more

Tapas Lounge and Bar - great night out 10/24/2005

While visiting friends in the area Table 1280 Tapas Lounge was a stop this past Saturday night. The atmosphere in the bar was very trendy and hip. The bar and tables were very cool (all made of light blocks). The tapas menu was great (we ordered several items and all shared). The drinks were great and the service was excellent. The only con was the location - if my friend did not hear of the restaurant we really would not have know it was there. Great find! Pros: Atmosphere, Service, Food Cons: Location more

Highly Recommend! 10/24/2005

I was a little skeptical after reading the previous reviews. Yet this was not at all the experience we had - ours was wonderful! The service was excellent and the servers very classy, professional and attentative. The food was excellent and the menu was creative, diverse and well priced (especially for a city restaurant). The atmosphere was very trendy and modern (I thought the bathroom sink was cool - how it connected into both the mens and womens room). We had a great experience and will surely be returning again. Pros: Service, Menu, Food Cons: Decor more

Much Improved 10/18/2005

I just had dinner at Table 1280 last week-end and it was fabulous. The food was great and the service much improved. The portions are average but not over priced. The decor needs a little help. Overall I had a great experience. Pros: food, service, drinks Cons: decor, bathrooms more

Expensive 10/6/2005

The other reviews were right. We went on a Thursday and the place was empty. The food is average, the portions are small and prices are high. We paid $8 for a tiny salad of mixed greens. Appetizers and entrees are expensive and not for sharing. The servers were nice and attentive, maybe a little unexperienced, but it's a new place after all. It's an interesting location, but maybe not very convenient. This place is not all it's cracked up to be. It tries to be high end dining, but it's not. Pros: decor Cons: prices, pretentious, location more

Bad Service, Bad Value 10/3/2005

The restaurant is stark and drafty. Even if it were filled with people, it would still seem bare. Chef Doty is creative. However, the prices are high for the overly-petite portions. The staff is inexperienced and the assistant manager rude. There was a misunderstanding w/ our server to which the assistant manager actually scolded us and said ""The next time this happens..."" Not worth the $, nor the time. There will not be a next time. Pros: chef doty Cons: Bad Service, Small Portions, High Prices more

I know there new but..... 9/24/2005

When I confirmed my reservation, I asked about an earlier seating, maybe 6:15 instead of 6:30. I was told they were completely booked. The place was empty when we arrived. It took awhile for our server to greet us, never explained the menu or told us about specials and then various waiters running around with plates of food try to sit orders down in front of us that belonged to someone else. Still on the service, once we had our own food, our server never returned about another glass of wine or to check on the food or return to ask about desert or coffee. He simply sat our check down. The food is expensive, $18 for risotto which was average and $21 for roast chicken. The atmosphere is very stark, I guess to match the design of the High Museum. Maybe the service will improve with time. Pros: location, parking Cons: service, service, expensive more
