This place is fine. They seem to take good care of the animals that come to them. We stopped using them because parking is a nightmare and we found a vet closer to us who we liked with valet parking. more

Great Vets to Take your Pets 9/2/2011

I have been going to this place for over 12 years... they are wonderful, caring, and informative... When my 16 year old Cocker spaniel was ill, and had to be put to sleep , they were so loving, and we had to wait for my daughter to come , she was coming from work on the westside, and they waited.. they were wonderful and gentle with my dog...and when we all fell apart, they consoled us and told us to stay as long as we like... plus they did not charge me, I guess because I was a long, long term patient...I would recommend them to anyone, especially Dr. Fullington, and Dr. Pitts..... more

Best animal hospital I ever been to. THANKS! 10/12/2010

Best Vet I have ever been to, I have been to alot. Figure for every 1 bad comments here there is 1000 happy customers. Usually happy customer dont leave reviews. That hospital Has great doctors very knowledgable. Whenever I call in with an emergency they walk me through step by step over the phone. The doctors tell the nureses exactly what to tell you over the phone. And saved me lots of money from having to come in. (How many busniesses do you know of that would help you so they could not make the money) The nurses are so nice to my dog. Treats during shots and comforting the dogs. I have been comming here for 8 years. HIGHLY reccomended. Dont go during busy ours if you can help it. Call in advance and ask for the wait time. In and out Hamburgers always has a long line. So does this place. People know quality when they see it more

Lost Without Them 7/26/2010

I can not say enough about this office. The staff are amazing. I have various different species of animals and have been using their services for over 7 years. If you need a great vet Dr. Flanagan is the way to go. more

Good doctors but staff is COLD, rude, uncaring 1/7/2010

I have a mixed feelings about this hospital. As mentioned in another review, there are a LOT of doctors, so you rarely get to see the same one twice. Sometimes a doctor that you saw the week before will have no recollection of ever having seen you before. Ditto for front office people. I agree, they are COLD, nasty, impersonal, and will ignore people who need help. You have to sign in and wait for EVERYTHING, even if just to pick up a prescription refill. I once waited over 30 minutes to buy cat food, because I had to "wait my turn." When I complained that the other people were waiting for doctors, and I only wanted to buy some Science Diet, the girl behind the counter said in the snottiest tone, "What's your problem ma'am?" On the plus side, the hours are convenient. They are open seven days, with early morning hours on the weekdays. However, GO EARLY. Parking spaces are very limited. Also a plus - they treat exotics, including birds and ferrets. Bottom line, it's crowded and chaotic. more

Very expensive, Dr sharp in north hollywood was much cheaper and i felt very comfortable with my pet in thier hands. more

Not what it used to be 6/4/2009

I have been going to this vet since I first got my Maltese. They seemed fine until my dog started to have some real issues. I had to take her to the ER about a month and a half ago and she was transferred over to SCAH the next day. After spending over $2000 on treatments and tests I was told that they didn't know what is wrong with her. She has had multiple tests since then and the Vets there just have no sense of urgency or care to find out what is wrong with her. I don't receive phone calls in a timely matter and find myself chasing them for answers. All of the symptoms of why she had to go to the emergency room in the first place have returned and every day I am panicked that I will have to take her there again. I have told this to the vet who has no sense of urgency. She had told me that she would talk to an internal specialist to see if she can come up with answers but I'm pretty sure she has not done so. It has been about 2 weeks and I have called her numerous times but have been told she will return my call.... which she has not. Also, I brought her in for her Phenylbarbital test which you are supposed to bring the dog in prior to her meds. Normally they would give her the med after she has the tests. Well I had to leave her there for a few hours this time for extra tests and had to ask... then told that they did not give her the med after they were done with testing. There is no excuse for this. It is simply sloppy. Not paying attention to what is wrong. It has become like a factory where they just go through the motions of testing the dog, charging you, but no follow through with the results or the resolution. I could go on and on... Her meds not being ready when I had called and asked ahead of time, still had to wait 45 mins... Her Phenylbarbital dose had been changed for over 6 months but never changed in her chart. I would tell them every time I refilled the prescription but still no one ever bothered to change it on her chart. Further more, the staff here is extremely rude! They ignore you, and if you ask for something like being rung up or to have the meds started, you are usually given an abrupt negative! Who ever is running this facility really needs to be checked! They are a detriment to the owners... This facility is extremely disorganized. If anything is wrong with your pet I highly recommend you do not bring them to this place. Pros: close to my home Cons: Facility run improperly more

Great place to bring wild animals if they are hurt! 5/13/2009

We found a baby Opossum hurt from a trap, they took him right away and he's doing great! They also offer a discount if you do bring in the wild ones - very nice and concerned. more

I liked this place... 3/21/2009

I had my 8 month old male cat neutered here. I went to this vet because Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital quoted me a price of at least $350. They also wanted to keep him overnight.\r \r I am HAPPY that I chose SCAH. My cat's operation went quite well. The establishment was clean with a professional staff. This is the fourth day of my cat's recovery and he is doing great. He is not licking his incision and seems back to normal.\r \r The cost for my cat turned out to be $280, and that is including one of those implanted chips in case he gets lost. \r \r I would definitely recommend this vet to my friends. I think my cat would as well =) more

What do more do you expect 10/21/2008

SCAH isnt as bad as many claim it to be. Im sure several families have had their differences, but by no means is it to the point that I just have to go somewhere else and throw this hospital under the bus. It is so far the BEST animal hospital my wife and I have gone to for over the last 3 years now. They show a lot of love for your pets and will chit chat while you wait.\r \r Im sure not all Vets can diagnose the problem 100% on the spot. Things happen and sometimes mistakes are made. Things like this happen in regular human hospitals. Things just arent always 100% and quite frankly, I am AWARE that prices for ANY hospitals are going to be ridiculous but its not like YOU are the only one paying. \r \r Its not always going to be the best experience and although it should be, it just wont be. Deal with it and if changing VETs is something you feel you need to do, then go ahead and change it. Dont write negative things and bash a place just because things didnt go your way or they didnt do their jobs as thorough as youd like and expect. \r \r I will say though that we have been to other VETs prior to SCAH and we didnt feel the comfort and friendlyness we do here at SCAH. We have 2 Minature Pinschers and currently we help my dad out by taking in his German Shepherd puppy to SCAH as well. \r \r We will continue going and if we ever have a problem, we will deal with it. \r \r Pros: Friendly people Cons: Parking more

You & Your Furbabies Deserve Better 9/24/2008

I?ve been taking my dogs to SCAH for over seven years. I used to love them and recommended them to many people; however, I?ve become increasingly dissatisfied with the level of care they offer. Recently an incident I observed when I had my dogs in for vaccinations caused me to switch vets.\r \r A man with an 18 year old cat was in the waiting area. The cat was obviously quite ill, and it was plain to see that this guy adored his cat. In front of everyone in the waiting area, one of the women at the front desk announced to this guy, Greg, that although the cat had been treated there before and was now experiencing kidney failure and was in need of treatment, they were denying treatment because he had a $1,200 balance on his account from the last time the cat was ill. \r \r Greg said that he knew there was a balance, but that he?d been paying $50/month for the past seven months, which was all he could afford and would they please treat his cat. The lady at the desk agreed that in more

You and your furbabies deserve better? 9/24/2008

I?ve been taking my dogs to SCAH for over seven years and used to love them, but they've gone downhill. Recently an incident I observed when I had my dogs in for vaccinations caused me to switch vets.\r \r A man with an 18 year old cat was in the waiting area. The cat was obviously quite ill, and it was plain to see that this guy adored his cat. In front of everyone in the waiting area, one of the women at the front desk announced to this guy, Greg, that although the cat had been treated there before and was now experiencing kidney failure and was in need of treatment, they were denying treatment because he had a $1,200.00 balance on his account from the last time the cat was ill. Greg said that he knew there was a balance, but that he?d been paying $50/month for the past seven months, which was all he could afford. The lady at the desk agreed that indeed he had been paying regularly but that just wasn?t good enough. Greg said that he could put down another $100 right then, but that was all he could afford. Still not good enough for SCAH. At that point, an older woman who was there with a dog stood up, went to the counter and asked how much he?d have to put down in order for them to treat Greg?s cat. They said $500. So, this very kind lady wrote a check for $400, adding it to Greg?s $100. Greg was in tears he was so grateful and SCAM took the older woman?s money.\r \r I?m sorry, but there is so much wrong with that scene. First, there was absolutely no reason for this to be done out in the open in front of a packed waiting area. Then, I know $1,200 is a large balance, but it was clear that Greg wasn?t delinquent on his account. I find it heartless that SCAH would deny treatment to a sick animal under these conditions. Finally, while that other lady was certainly generous, it was shameful of SCAH to take her money on behalf of another patient. \r \r Sadly, this incident illustrates what I've grown to dislike about SCAH: they don't care.\r \r more

Love SCAH! 8/8/2008

I went to SCAH with my sister to get her dog a travel certificate and ended up adopting the BEST JRT on earth! I've been taking Girl - my JRT - to SCAH for years now and they are the nicest, most caring people. Dr. Seema is awesome and Girl gets the star treatment whenever she goes in. Pros: Open every day! Cons: Small parking lot more

See Dr. Pitts and/or Flannagan 7/3/2008

My beloved 10 yr old dog collapsed on the ground one night out of no where. My regular vet was closed as it was a Saturday and i heard about how great this place was so I rushed my dog in. I luckily got Dr. Pitts who diagnosed my dog in a matter of minutes and Dr. Flannagan performed emergency surgery. The staff on site are great and i am actually switching to Dr. Flannagan for good. He's so sweet with the dogs and gets on his hands and knees to make friends before even attempting to do any proceedure. I highly recommend this place. My friend also takes his dog here as well and in 8 years has never had a complaint. Pros: open every day! nice staff and vets Cons: it's dirty and worn down but dont let that fool you more

STUDIO CITY ANIMAL HOSPITAL - SCARY & COLD! 5/6/2008

OH MY GOD! I thought that this was supposed to be one of the best, but I was advised wrongly. I've been to them about 3 times, only because I haven't found time ti find another vet that is suitable to my standards yet. This hospital is so COLD. It was like dealing with the children of the corn or zombies or something. Are the staff former druggies from the 70s? They were NOT AT ALL personable! And they were so DULL-HEADED and kind of MEAN. Anytime I had a question for them, they didn't know what I was talking about! And they were not friendly at all! You have SEVERAL people working there, yet they ignore you alot. One time, I was standing there to pay for the visit, and this one nurse/assistant just completely ignored me! She didn't even say, "one moment" or anything. She just kept walking back and forth right in front of my face and out of her desk area. She was even AVOIDING eye contact with me! She wasn't doing anything though except walking back and forth!\r \r They di more

Best Vet in San Fernando Valley 4/27/2008

After taking our turtle to a vet not worthy of the initials DVM, we took him to SCAH where he was given a thorough exam and treatment began. Unfortunately we switched vets too late and our beloved turtle died. When I called to inquire how this happened, everyone was so kind and understanding. They even sent us a sympathy card. We decided to take the remainder of our animals in for checkups and they all received thorough check ups. I was impressed with Dr. Franco when she examined our other turtle so I brought in my precious cat for a check up. My cat needed dental surgery to remove loose teeth and the treatment she received was great. Shortly after she recovered from surgery she came down with a horrible case of gastritis as a result of the house plant. My cat spent the next four days at SCAH receiving treatment and every test known to mankind. Don't get me wrong: they didn't perform any test that would not have made sense and they only performed them with my permission and after giving me an estimate. My cat is my baby, so money was irrelevant. The staff was kind, courteous and understanding. I definitely felt that everyone was as concerned for my baby as I was. This was the scariest moment in my life (and my cat's) and everyone at SCAH did everything they could to make it easier for us. The prices were reasonable and my baby has never received better veterinary care in her life. I highly recommend SCAH and Dr. Franco for all of your animals. Pros: Kind, courteous staff. Patient vets. Cons: Facility needs a new paint job. more

Never take your pet to this place!! 4/11/2008

What this place did to our dog is inexcusable! What should have been a small emergency case of rest and re-hydration for a dog has turned into a life and death situation exacerbated by a vet too incompetent to actually care for our dog. If you value your pet I would stay far away from SCAH! \r \r While my husband and I were out of town this week (04/05/08), we put our dog in "day care." While he was there he stopped eating/drinking. The day care felt that it was an emergency and took him to SCAH. \r \r We rushed back to town as fast as we could and taken to the back of the animal hospital where we found our dog in a kennel with an IV in his paw, soaking in his own urine. We were pretty horrified about the state of our pet. The back of the animal hospital was total chaos, we could not find the attending vet and the staff could not be bothered to assist us. \r \r We had to leave our dog overnight so that he could be re-hydrated. When we came back the next day we were presented with a bill that more
