Steam King

I've called Steam King over a dozen times to take advantage of a coupon and get my carpets cleaned. They never once answered the phone. I also sent 3 emails asking them to call me and those were never returned. I use Stanley Steemer, they will quote you a true price without any surprises when the men show up and they do an awesome job, your carpet is nearly dry before they leave. The price included basic pretreatment. more

My mother decided to use this company to clean the carpet in the upstairs bedrooms. The morning they arrived, I figured it would be best if I allowed the gentleman room to work and vacated my bedroom and proceeded to go to the gym for a couple of hours. So... within my bedroom sits my desk where I place the items I usually carry on my person throughout the day, including a $250 SpyderCo pocket knife. Not needing the knife at the gym, I left it in it's proper place, the same spot I put it every single day. Upon my arrival home, the knife had vanished. I did my due diligence and searched the premises and inquired it's whereabouts with my parents, but all to no avail. We then proceeded to call Steam King and place a formal complaint with the company. They have since neglected to respond to our complaint, phone calls, and direct web messages. This action is egregious and unethical. There is no telling what other items they could have ""pocketed"" from mine or other customers' households. I would report them to the BBB, but it appears they are not accredited. I only give them one star, because there is not a big red flag to select. more

These other ""reviewers"" must not have used the same company that we did! I used a coupon that was sent in the circulars that come out on Wednesdays. I knew what to expect price wise when the technicians got here and a pre-inspection and exact price was quoted to me before any work actually began. I had the option to decline service at that point. The technicians did try to ""upsale"" the Dupont teflon application, but they were not pushy at all when we declined. Even servers at restaurants are taught to upsale items when given the chance so this was nothing unusual. I was happy with the service provided and the cleanliness of the carpets when they left. It does take a few hours for the carpets to dry completely but I would assume this is normal. There was no foul odor as some have stated and we had no problem with our servicing technicians.Tom and Tommy, the technicians who cleaned our carpets, were very nice, courteous, and did a great job. I wouldn't hesitate to use Steam King again and would recommend them. more

A one star rating is actually too high for the carpet cleaning I received today. The only request I made was that I didn't want the carpet too wet and now more than 6 hours later I'm walking on soaked carpet. The price did escalate after pretreating but I would have gladly paid the price for good work. I didn't get good work and wish I had checked the reviews here before I had them in my home. I don't even think the carpet is clean and there's a terrible wet odor. Never again! more

I received a coupon in the mail for a whole house special for 69.95 so I figured I'd call and see what they could do for me when I called they told me if I had heavily soiled areas it would be a additional 28cents a sq.ft and I agreed and scheduled for them to come out.They came on time and told me I need my traffic areas precleaned, and they offer me some other services that I declined which they were ok with and the total came out to be about 150bucks....which is cheaper then any other carpet cleaner I ever had out there. Most companies take like 3 hours to clean my carpet they only took about a hour or so and it looked very well. I can understand some people feeling like they are mislead....but come on...you gotta read the WHOLE thing...not what you want to read more

I see others have had this problem with this company, as well. I assure you we'll be informing the Better Business Bureau. We called them and discussed the service to be performed. They said may need to pre-treat a few spots if needed, which is understandable. The ad had a 5-room special and we measured carefully and made sure the footage matched the price quoted, and it did. So we scheduled an appointment. The ad clearly states 28 cents per sq. ft. additional charge pre-conditioning for heavily soiled areas, WHERE NEEDED. They came out and did a walk-through. Then they proceeded to inform us that they refused to clean the carpet without pre-conditioning the ENTIRE HOUSE. This alone cost more than the 5-area special, so it more than doubled the quoted price! NOT Acceptable! Would have been more than happy to pay for certain areas to be pre-conditioned, but NOT the whole house. When we refused the pre-conditioning treatment and asked for just the cleaning, he told us that it wasn't worth his time because he works off of commission. And to think, we were even going to pay them extra to do the stairs. Forget it, Steam King. Pros: They showed up when they said Cons: They totally lied about the price and service they'd offer more

The manager, Corey, is a downright liar who quotes one price over the phone knowing the job cannot actually be done for that price. When you call to complain, his response is that you misunderstood or that itCAN be done for that price if you want your couch and or carpet cleaned without any treatment. (no soap) The price went from 128 to 181 if we want it done correctly. He also informed us that they have ""plenty of business and losing our business would not hurt them in any way"" The only positive was the job and attitude of the on site technician. My mother in law used this company earlier this week and they did a HORRIBLE job. Now, they won't answer the phone when she calls. She has had 3 of our family members to call and then they tell us that they will be out to fix the JACKED UP job that they performed, but haven't shown up. All we keep receiving is the voicemail and I'm ready to report them to the the authorities. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY....IT IS NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY...IT IS NOT PROFESSIONAL....CAN ANYONE SAY BOOTLEG???!!! Pros: Nothing Cons: HORRIBLE SERVICE more

Steam King is not the place to call if you need some furniture cleaned..They tell you they will be there 8-12.. But don't show up at all. Don't even call to say sorry, muchless even answer there phone... Needless to say if you need some furniture cleaned I would say call Stanley Steamer....They call you , show up on time and they leave with a customer happy... Pros: I hope people read this and will think twice about using steam king more
