Bangin' Burgers and Baked Potatoes 1/31/2006

We went to this place a few years ago and it is still on my mind. One of those legendary haunts that when you are in town, you MUST venture to. We sat at the bar, drank monsoons and ate ourselves into oblivion... one of the best meals Ive ever had, burp. Pros: food, food , food Cons: can get crowded more

Worth the 30 minute wait! 1/26/2006

The restaurant itself seats maybe 60 people plus 15 around the bar area, so a wait is unavoidable. However, once you bit into a burger, you discover it's worth it. Coming from the midwest where beef is plentiful, these are still by far the BEST burgers I've ever had. I also had the Monsoon, their signature fruity drink, and it was worth the $8. The service was friendly and the waitress checked on us 4 times during our meal. A treasure for America! Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly Cons: Limited waiting space more

Well-worth the EIGHT HOUR DRIVE!!! 12/29/2005

What can I say? After Katrina, both me and my husband thought - OH, NO!!!! PORT OF CALL???? Well, I'm happy to see that they are up and running. We live in Houston, Texas and will NEVER, EVER miss an opportunity to dine at Port of Call while in N.O. We asked local residents where they go for burgers and were told by 5 out of 5 people -PORT OF CALL. The burgers are the BEST I've ever eaten. People say everything is bigger in Texas....well, I think they meant almost everything. No one makes a better/bigger burger! Pros: FOOD, DRINKS, CASUAL ATMOSPHERE Cons: MY INCREASING WAIST , CHOLESTEROL LEVEL more

I AM ADDICTED!!! 7/21/2005

My husband and I absolutely love Port of Call. We live approximately 1 1/2 hours away, and usually once or twice a month we drive down to NO to eat one of those unbelievable hamburgers! We have never had to wait more than about 15 minutes, and even if it were longer, it is worth the wait. It is a tradition to go there after a Saints game- part of the fun! We flew to Las Vegas to get married, and when we flew back in to New Orleans, we didn't head straight home- we stopped to eat at Port of Call first! Pros: Lots for your money, Great Drinks Cons: Parking more

Must go!!! 3/16/2005

A ""must go to"" each time we're in New Orleans, these are worth a trip there actually. The Cheeseburger is huge and perfectly cooked. The baked potato is enormous & the meal is really enough for two meals. Burgers are recommended (by us) over the steaks (although they are good .) Awesome Bloody Mary's too!! more

Best Burger? Puhleeze! 7/8/2004

I travel to Nawlins at least once a year. I had heard of the Port of Call""s best Burger, so last trip my wife and I went. What a Hole! The place was dinghy, the service was terrible, there was a wait, the burger was cooked beyond recognition, it was dry and tasteless. The condiments were sub par. It wasn't expensive, but not a good value because it just wasn't good. If you want a real burger, come to Baltimore. This place isnt even in the same league more

greatness 7/1/2004

I live in Monroe, LA. So when we go to New Orleans we make a special trip just to eat there at about 11 at night. The writeup says its quiet. the back room is semi quiet, but the front room and the bar is loud but fun. There is always great music playing there. I feel like I'm at home when I'm there eating. It isvery crowded though but the peaople are very nice there. I wouldn't suggest taking a large group cause the largest table is for about 5 people. Its good for kids other than the smoke and drinking in the bar. Pros: inexpensive, great food, great atmosphere Cons: , none, none more
