Best

Port of Call is a New Orleans gem, a real, honest-to-goodness JOINT that does not pretend to be anything but a dive (New Orleans-speak for ""Casual Restaurant-Bar for the Locals""...

Worst

good, not exceptional, meat between a bun, service average, average burger

Fantastic!! 7/8/2002

We have been to New Orleans 3 times, and have visited Port of Call every time. We will be back there next summer, and believe me, we will sail into that port often! We tell everyone we know, that it is fantastic!! Their monsoons aren't bad either!! Pros: inexpensive, excellent food, great service more

Worth a layover 5/16/2002

It's official: Port of Call does indeed make the city's best burger. But that's not the only thing that makes it worth recommending. The dimly lit, mood-lighting atmosphere is good for romance, the front dining area is close but not cramped, the bar is a great place to eat and absorb the many interesting denizens who wander in, the drinks are impressive and the jukebox is pretty darn good. Try not to get seated in the back, by the bathrooms and away from the action...it feels isolated and isn't half as interesting or homey. A great restaurant, a great bar, a great place to eat and meet. Pros: Great burgers, Great Atmosphere Cons: Parking problematic more
