Wonderful Experience! 8/28/2010

I had a wonderful experience at Molly's Place. I can't believe that that the people who made negavtive comments on this site were at the same place that I was. I can only conclude that these people must have been denied to adopt a pet or they have unrealistic expectations. more

Awful, Awful, Awful! 8/19/2010

I went to Molly's place and was appalled by what I saw there. Dogs peeing everywhere and sliding all over the place. They use strong chemicals to clean up this mess. Many of the dogs were hiding and the older dogs were cowering in a corner. I called the owner about this and she was rude and arrogant. She doesn't care about these animals. The money is what she is interested in, it's obvious. I have heard from several rescue organizations that this place does some really underhanded things. It is such a shame that these animals are subjected to this environment. I was crying my eyes out when I left there. It's an absolute sin (and a joke) that she considers herself a rescue organization! more

Very impressed 6/2/2010

I looked at several rescue operations before Molly's. With the others, there was no way to actually see the dog unless you filled out their application, and the applications in many cases were as much as 6 pages long, wanting references and visitations, home inspections, a very long complicated process. At Molly's I could actually see and interact with the dog I was interested in. I wasn't allowed to take my dog (pup) home until he was neutered, vaccinated, and they were happy with his health. The application is 1 page. The place is like nothing else I've ever seen, dogs just everywhere, but messes are cleaned up immediately and they manage to keep it very clean. I found everyone there to be friendly and helpful. There are plenty of people working keeping the dogs in order and everyone I met was happy to talk about the dogs individually and answer any questions. The fee seemed high at first ($425) but considering the neutering and microchipping, etc etc. we ended up feeling that it was well worth it. As for the last two entries, sometimes its hard to imagine that these folks went to the same place I did. Maybe the writers were just having a bad day. I'd recommend Molly's place to anyone. Pros: excellent place to meet pets, people were professional and h Cons: slippery floors lol more

Rudest People Ever!!!! 5/21/2010

These people clearly spend so much time with animals that they have no people skills! They were extremely rude to me and extremely condescending. The woman pretty much called me a liar when her facts were completely wrong. If it weren't for the animals, I would recommend never ever going there. If you decide to adopt from here, be ready to be treated like an idiot and a liar. Cons: very rude and very condescending! more

disappointed 5/17/2010

my daughter in law had an appt to get her new puppy, she took her two little children, who are well behaved, so they could help pick their pet. The person in charge was rude to them and they had to wait a long time in the cat room. She came out to see what was taking so long and the person yelled at her to shut the door, which she did. When it was their turn to check out, the person in charge told them that they would not be getting the puppy, as they had observed her and the children and told them that they were not acceptable to their standards. Then my daughter in law told them that she wanted her application back, with personal information on it and they refused to either give it back or shred it. They told her that she would never, ever get a puppy from this shelter. Of course she was devastated, as were the kids. This girl is a teacher, is the kindest person you could ever know, and is a wonderful mom as well. And her parents were dog breeders, so she well knows how to act around animals. So now, because of some rude person, a dog does not have a new home, and two grand children are very upset about the whole experience. NOT a nice place to get a pet, some people are on power trips and what a shame for the whole place. Pros: rescues animals Cons: rude people more

A worthy cause 3/4/2010

We currently have three cats, our first two were free to a good home and our latest addition is from Mollys. Pros: Spay/Neuter, microchip, vaccinations all included in the fee Cons: None more

Worth every penny! 3/3/2010

My family has welcomed two new pets in the last year. We purchased one puppy from a pet store (which I'm ashamed to admit) and after that experience we adopted our second puppy from Molly's Place. Pros: Nice Place! Great Pets! Cons: Too bad there aren't more rescues like this one. more

Dogs rule cats drool! 3/3/2010

When first arriving at Molly's we were a bit overwhelmed by the free roaming dogs. But man, what a great way to see them intereact with each other and an even better way for us to interact with them. (Beats seeing them behind cage doors.) The pee was constantly being cleaned up and did not seem to bother even my 5 year old ""Miss Priss."" She said, ""Mommy the dogs look so happy here."" We picked out two small adult mixes that seemed to be very attached to each other. We have had then almost a year and can't remember life without them. Our daughter says she wants to run a rescue like Molly's when she is grown. We tell everyone about our wonderful experience and when we tell people every thing we got for our money they are amazed. They say, ""Do you have any idea how much we paid just to have our dog spayed and dewormed?"" Eat your heart out or go to Molly's for a new best friend. Pros: Too many dogs to choose just one. Cons: Too many dogs to choose just one. more

best dog in the world 3/3/2010

The newest member of our family is a beautiful little mix breed we named LittleGirl. She came to Molly's Rescue last November from another shelter. The staff of Molly's saw her merit. They cleaned her up had her spayed and cared for her until we went looking several months later. It was love at first sight. She is playful and loving. You truely can teach an old dog new tricks and my family , Little Girl and I are forever grateful that Molly's kept her for months until we found her. Pros: Rescued dogs and cats are placed for adoption Cons: That our throw away society even needs a place like this. more

Couldn't Disagree More! 3/2/2010

What is all the commotion about? Last time I checked all dogs pee and poop. It would be wonderful if Molly's Place could have a building with a big fenced in grassy area for the dogs to run and eliminate. But, the fact is, they are a SHELTER. They take in dogs nobody else wants. We have adopted three dogs from Molly's. No health problems with any of them. And, have any of you who complained about the cost considered what it costs at the vet to have a dog spayed or neutered? You might change your tune if you knew. We found the staff to be kind to the animals and to us. They were cleaning up any ""messes"" immediately. Those of you who were bashing Molly's were also bashing these dedicated people. Shame on you. We plan to adopt from Molly's when age takes our old guy. We also regularly donate to Molly's because food and medical treatment isn't cheap. For you complainers, I couldn't disagree more! Pros: Lots of Choices Cons: Need a Bigger Space more

Wonderful Place! Wonderful Pets! 2/26/2010

I have adopted three pets from Molly's Place. All have been healthy and are wonderful additions to my family. Pros: Free Roaming Environment Cons: Too many to choose from more

Unorganized Mess 2/25/2010

I called about a puppy and the woman gladly gave me all the information about him. I told her I'd stop by the next day to put a ""hold"" on him (aka downpayment) until he was ready to come home with me. I called right near their closing and said I'd be by the next day. I showed up one hour after they opened, and was informed that my puppy had already been adopted! They said they did a ""phone application"" just before I arrived. I was never informed of a phone application by the woman over the phone. I informed them of this and they stated that they were ""unsure who I talked to yesterday"" and there was nothing they could do about it! Do not trust this place! Pros: Shelter adoptable dogs/cats Cons: Messy, smelly, unorganized, misleading more

Don't Get a Pet Here! 2/24/2010

We ""adopted"" (AKA - purchased) 2 8-month old kittens from Molly's Place about 3 weeks ago. We thought it was a good way to see the animals interact with other cats and us and find friendly ones. We are now on our 2nd round of antibiotics for the one cat and have to give it a total of 5 medicines. This is not a great way to bond with a new pet. Additionally, yesterday my 10 year old daughter was diagnosed with ring worm. As I just learned the incubation period is two weeks, might my 8 year old son also have it? What about the kids friends who pet the cats? Which cat is it? I am now cleaning up snot all over my floors and walls from where the cat keeps sneezing. The other day some of it was tinged with blood. The costs keep going up and they tell me that they cannot know if an animal will get sick. Well, they knew and downplayed that they were already sick. The business, and it is a business, is based on trust and a ""good will"" factor. The cat room where both cats lived had other cats who exhibited the same symptoms. Cons: Animals are sick and they know it. more

Pricey but impressed 2/14/2010

We got two puppies from this place, and we're happy to have dealt with them. Yes, the puppies are all out, separated from the larger and older dogs, and yes, they do eliminate on the floor. Our pups were the perfect age to start house training when we got them, and they took to it almost immediately. Puppies will have accidents. They will poop, pee, vomit, and shed on your floor. It's not just puppies: when our last dog was sick with cancer, he had accidents. If the poop on the floor at this place is offensive, maybe you should think about whether you really want a dog. I was impressed by the veterinary care the puppies received, as we've had dogs from the Humane Society with records that were more ""guesstimations."" At Molly's, they gave us a package to give to our vet, and we all were on the same page with where they were in the course of their vaccinations. In fact, our last dog from the Humane Society was almost tagged a ""lost cause,"" and turned out to be an angel. I wouldn't say to take the kids, mainly because there are so many puppies running around. They do have a website with pictures, if you would like to ""show"" the kids the dog. I know it's not the same, but it's a viable alternative. The price is a bit expensive, almost ""pet store"" prices. While I disagree, I think that it can be expensive to raise a puppy. I would have to say, it's sad that a place like this exists, but not for the same reason everyone else is saying. Pros: Extensive vet care, impressive record keeping Cons: A bit pricey more

Re The Truth. 2/5/2010

We got our last Dog at Molly's. It was the only place that we could see all the dogs, and spend time with them. Yeah dogs pee on the floor. That is a God given design. I guess some people that have ice cream for poop never learned to deal with. The staff are doing a great job cleaning constantly. And look around it is very clean. I for one am glad to see the dogs out of cages. All we saw at Molly's is a staff that really cares. I will look for our dogs at Molly's and support this shelter. and suggest you do to. Pros: Doing a wonderful job Cons: They all need homes more

The truth. 1/31/2010

I can't believe the comments some of you people are making. I'll bet most of you are people that were DENIED on your adoption applications. Every one of your vindictive, BS comments hurts the chances of more animals being saved when people read them. Here are a few cold, hard facts for some of the ignorant people that choose to spew their lies. Molly's Place has had over 7,000 SUCCESSFUL pet adoptions in the last 5 years. These are all animals that were stray, abandoned, abused, neglected or otherwise unwanted by the irrresponsible people that previously owned them (if they ever even had an owner). How do you suppose they ""house train"" a rescue dog that has never seen the inside of a home? And where is this mysterious ""outside room"" that was referred to? Get a clue. These animals live in an air conditioned, safe, clean environment until they are adopted. I know because I'm one of the people scrubbing their cages and pens...for free. They are all well fed, receive veterinary care and most importantly love and attention from the staff and volunteers that work there. And yes, many of them come in sick. We thank God for the vets that help heal them. So one of you stepped in some pee? Boo hoo...Maybe you'd prefer a little red carpet be rolled out for you? Maybe you didn't see the $5,000 floor machine that gets worked into the ground every day and night keeping the place sanitary. Oh, and harsh bleach based chemicals to clean the floor? By that I suppose you mean the splash of white vinegar that goes into the mop water... I guess some of you think the animals would be happier locked up in steel cages 24-7? Money maker? Are you serious? Do you understand the term Not-For Profit? I guess you think the money it takes to lease the building, pay utilities, pay the employees, buy all the food, medicine and supplies just falls from the sky. No, it comes from good hard working people that pay a reasonable fee and adopt instead of buying into the pet store/puppy mill/breeding machine. I've spent countless hours of my time volunteering there in every way I could. When the place overflows with animals they don't have room for I've taken them into my own home until pens became available. Since some of you are so displeased, maybe instead of you hiding behind your keyboards slandering, you should get out there and make a difference in the lives of some these animals. Just don't do it on a day I'm in there, I've already made up my mind about you. Pros: Sweet animals looking for you to give them a forever home Cons: Apparently easy prey for ignorant rants more

I Adopted 1/18/2010

When I first went in my thought was atlest they are out running around. I was there for nearly 2 hours. The longer I stayed the more sorry I felt for them. Not one dog was house trained. I had to step in there piss along with them. I know they cleaned it as soon as they could but that was just nasty. Alot of them had the poopers so that wasn't a good smell or site. They had outside room but not once did I see them take a dog our, nor was I asked to take a dog out to see how he or she is with me. Other shelters let you do this. I saw one puppy that I thought I had to have she was so cute, shy but if you let her come to you she was so cute giving me kisses and everything. I fell inlove. Then I was told the price. She is a Pug Terrier with no background has not been house trained or anything else. Yes she was nutured and chiped and had all her shots. But for the price I paied I could have done all that alot cheaper. For a shelter they do not have shelter prices. I already had my mind set on her and was ready to take her home. I couldn't change my mind all because of the price. We have tought her how to sit, paw, and laydown. She is almost house trained and we only have had her for 1 month. This is without help. Just time and effort. Apparently they take the dogs home to try and house train them etc. I think they just think of it as a money maker than a shelter trying to do the right thing. As happy as I am with my puppy I will not be going back nor recomend the place. more

ADOPTING FROM MOLLY'S AWFUL 12/2/2009

I adopted a dog from Molly's last year. It was one of the most awful experiences of my life. When i adopted my adorable pit mix, i was thrilled and happy to take her home. I was told by the women working there at that time, that my new family member had been kennel trained as well as house broken, Well not long after being home with my new pet, i learned neither of which was true. This dog was not kennel trained, she broke out of the kennel EVERY SINGLE TIME i used it, which was only when i was at work. Then she would proceed to rip up carpet, chew holes in doors, and EVERYDAY, use my apartment carpeting as a bathroom. I was extremely frustrated and angry. Unfortunately there is no returning pets or getting reimbursed at Molly's, under no circumstance, even if they do lie to you. I guess I should have realized when I was in Molly's that all the dogs were using the floor as a potty in front of everyone in the store. The women working there just mop up behind them, instead of taking them out as often as they need to be. I cant imagine the awful noise at night when all those dogs, who they claim are kennel trained, are stuggling to escape. DO NOT ADOPT FROM MOLLY's. I just feel bad for all those poor animals there. Pros: none that i know of Cons: almost everything more

I hate to be saying this... : / 11/20/2009

Before adopting my new cat, Abby, I was a huge fan of Molly's Place. Since her adoption I have had three different veterinarians (all from different practices) NOT recommend the rescue. My vet told me that a lot of the cats that leave there will suffer from upper respiratory infections on and off for the rest of their lives. Even though they are giving their sick animals penicillin my vet told me they are still not doing enough and the sick animals should be quarantined. Someone else on here said the animals that come in are already sick, which is false. They get sick from the illnesses the other animals are ""passing around."" My cat left with pink eye and an upper respiratory infection. She's been on three different drugs and is still suffering from the symptoms. I'm starting to worry that I won't be able to afford her medical expenses. Also Molly's Place told me she was a year and a half, but after examining her my vet told me she is probably around 6-8 months old. This is not a major issue but I am wondering how they got a micro chipped animal's information messed up. As for the staff they do come off as rude but it's understandable due to their stressful working conditions. It was a mess trying to check out with my cat because they were trying to juggle so many other adoptions at the same time. Also when my boy friend was asking a question one of the volunteers put her hand in his face and shushed him. I once volunteered there for only a day because I didn't not find the environment friendly. Pros: Get to know the animal better before adoption Cons: Illnesses, unorganized more

Remember this is a RESCUE shelter 10/23/2009

This is a rescue shelter...these animals have been RESCUED.....if their sick...they were sick when they came in. Be prepared to deal with this. If your heart is in the right place...you will understand. This is not a boutique...Mollyies relies on us to help with the RESCUE. It pains me to read these other harsh reviews and miss the whole concept of what they are doing there. You wouldnt go to the junk yard to buy a new car. Don't take small children..its just a little much, all of the activity. Yes they run free.....would you prefer to see them locked up? I have adopted / RESCUED 2 boxers and will do more if I have an opportunity. So don't be harsh to judge. Pros: the whole concept Cons: people expecting a dog spa more
