I was referred to Curtopia by a friend and it was a great experience overall! The staff was very welcoming and knowledgeable of curly/kinky hair types, which is a rarity. Jordan was very professional and caring when it came to my concerns regarding trims as I?ve had some not-so-great experiences with scissor-happy stylists. She was very open throughout the entire process and recommended different ways to care for my dry hair. The steam hydration treatment is a must for those with dry hair like myself and is worth the extra bucks. The natural hair prescription is also a plus. I definitely plan to return! more

I had a wonderful visit to Curltopia. The atmosphere and the salon itself were both very nice. I received fast and efficient customer service and was even offered a beverage upon arrival. My stylist, Giselle, was very knowledgable and taught me a lot about my hair and my specific hair type that I had never even heard before. I got a deep condition treatment and a steam hydration followed by a color gloss, haircut, and finally a blowout. By the end of my appointment, Giselle suggested a number of helpful products to maintain good treatment of my hair and saved me from an absolute disaster! Transitioning from relaxed to natural hair can be a very frustrating process, but Curltopia definitely helped me find peace of mind!! more

I arrived at Curltopia defeated!! But, I left victorious!! I explained by situation to the receptionist and she was very understanding. She asked me if I could wait while she secured a stylist. She returned with Jordan, my hair saving angel! She took one look at my hair and had several options for me. I must have looked skeptic because she immediately said "" if you have a minute, let me show you"". And, did she ever!! I could not wait to make my appointment. And low and behold, the receptionist said that Jordan had an opening that very day in 30 mins!! I was in the bowl in 5!! She was so patience with me. She explained everything as she went along. She made me feel as if I could do it myself (As if!!). When she finished, my hair was beautiful. I had her take a picture and texted it to all my friends. My phone started to ring off the hook. They were so excited for me!! They know my struggle with my hair. Curltopia was a saving grace for me. Thank you so much. Jordan, YOU ROCK!!!! more

Maxine (stylist), as the heading indicates, has maximum power to transform the way you look and feel. I walked into Curltopia without an appointment but with an extreme hair emergency. I was almost turned away by the receptionist as there were no appointments available, but Maxine came to my rescue! She worked me into what I'm sure was a very hectic schedule on a Saturday morning. My hair was damaged and I was feeling completely bummed about my look. I was ready for a drastic intervention like chopping all of my hair off and starting over. Maxine was professional, knowledgeable, patient and super talented at styling my hair in a 2-strand flat twist set that required little cutting and showed no signs of damage! She educated me about my hair, and advised me on what products to purchase and use for regular home maintenance! I've been using the products as advised and my hair continues to look healthy! I was thoroughly pleased with the service at Curltopia, and cannot wait for my next visit to receive the ""Maxi""mum experience! more

Based on the helpful information on their website, I decided to give Curltopia a call. I made an appointment for 9:30am Saturday morning. I sat in the waiting area maybe two minutes . My hair was examined, washed, and deep conditioned. Every step of the way I was told what products were being used. I paid extra for the hydration treatment which felt heavenly, and added extra moisture to my hair. Next I was led to my stylist, Jordan more

My experience @ Curltopia was superior! I love the decor and ambience of this place; it made me relax and enjoy my hair experience. Jordan was AWESOME and as sweet as can be. She took her time on my hair - which is dry and somewhat damaged - explaining what she was doing and providing me with information & products to use for home care. I have been natural for almost a year and had never straightened my hair because I was afraid I wouldn't like it since I was so used to bone-straight hair of the relaxer. After Jordan straightened and cut it into a cute bob, I fell in love with my hair! She even showed me a cute lil' way to pin it up. I have definitely found a new salon and a new stylist! I am excited to be on my way to healthier curly hair! more

This was my first visit to Curltopia and my experience was great. My stylist was Jordan, who came highly recommended and she was fabulous. When I arrived, we discussed my hair care regimen and Jordan recommended specific services and products for me. She was knowledgeable, patient, and showed me her techniques. I went to the salon today to get some consultation on my natural curls and useful products & I had Giselle as my stylist. Let me tell you how wonderful this salon experience has been! First of all, my appointment was at 8 AM & she actually started on my head on time! Never heard of in past salons. Second, she talked to me about my hair & the products that would work best with my hair type. There was no pressure to purchase anything, but I did purchase the Design Esstential Wrap Lotion & the Moroccanoil. I decided to get my hair in flat twist and I love the end result. I will be going back & recommending Giselle to others. Thanks! more

This hair shop specializes in natural, curly hair, but also does a great job with straight / relaxed hair. I have taken my 4 year old daughter here for over a year (she has very long, very curly, very thick hair !) and they always do a great job so I decided to try it out on my hair (relaxed, beyond shoulder length). The stylist did a great job asking about my hair, products, style etc. She gave me a relaxer touch up and then a great blow out style. It was so smooth and moved and swung around! It felt great too. Then she went over what products she used and recommended. While all that was really good, what really floored me was that she asked me about my schedule and where I had to be and what time, and made sure to keep me on time. No waiting around with a wet head! I was actually out BEFORE I expected to be! Can't ask for more! more

I absolutely loved my experience! Maxine was very patient with me and brought out my natural beauty! This was my first time with a natural style and I was nervous about how I would look after making the ""big chop"" and Maxine made sure to make me feel comfortable with my new look. The salon atmosphere was superb, customer service was excellent, my stylist took her time to educate me about my hair and explained how to use the correct products for my hair type. I have been going to Curltopia for about 3 months now, while transitioning my hair. I was trying to let it grow out before I did the BIG CHOP! However, this past weekend I could not wait any longer and went in for this liberating experience. I feel so alive and free! Gisele was my stylist and she was very attentive and ready to answer all my questions and explain every step of the process that she was doing. Oh did I mention that I got me some color as well. I wanted the whole WOW factor and I got it. Giselle listened to what I was leaning towards as far as color and picked out this fabulous copper red/orange color. It looks great on me and I am so pleased. She then told me what options of hairstyles that I could do at my next appt. and I am already booked to to a coil out. I can not wait. I called the salon on a Saturday and was able to get an appointment that day! I had decided to cut the permed part of my hair off and go with growing out the natural part. When I got to the salon, it was bright and there was nice music playing in the background. It wasn't overpowering so that you could read or think and bop your head at the same time :). I was offered something to drink (choose water). I received a consultation from Giselle and recommendations on how to live with my natural hair. I was able to ask questions and she was very knowledgeable on how to what to do to daily manager my hair. She made my transition very easy; I love my hair in its natural state! more

The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed, I loved the decor and music. Customer service as a whole was great, very professional and inviting. I was asked if I wanted a beverage on more than one occassion. My stylist did a great job with educating me about my hair. I love their concept of a ""prescription"" which is a list of suggested products and how to and how often to use them. My hair service more than exceeded my expectations. more

The atmosphere at curltopia was very diverse. I saw a mixture of nationalities in the stylist and clients. I was greeted with a smile as I entered the store, and was seen been by my styliest swiftly. Maxine not only educated me on which products would work best for my hair, but she also explainned/demonstrated everything while working in my hair. She also let me face the mirror the entire time. Curltopia exceed my expectations and i will revisit the shop again soon. more

Have been a client at Curltopia since 9/13/11 and this is by far the best salon. I love Jordan and the whole salon experience. My first style the flat twist I loved it. My next 2 styles the roller set I absolutely loved. On my last visit I had my hair colored and can I say it again, I love it. The steam hydration system is the best and has worked wonders for my ""natural"" hair. The staff is amazing and make sure you are well hydrated. I love the atmosphere and the fact that it doesn't smell like a hair salon. I can honestly say that as soon as I walk in the salon, Jordan is ready for me. I have finally found my salon home and I hope to stay at home for a long time. more

I had been hearing about Curltopia & finally acted upon a referral - no regrets whatsoever. I was on-board after 1st consultation w/ stylist Maxine. She took a look@ my hair & I was able to see others who had been styled naturally & like what I saw. My natural finger curls were popping & I was extremely satisfied-got so many compliments. Upon service, Maxine provided instructions & list of products for maintenance. Definitely the 'best in class' on service, professionalism & hair care. The steam hydration treatment is a 'must'. I had the opportunity to visit with Ms Brittany at Curltopia this past Saturday. My experience was more than I expected. She was really knowledgeable about ""natural"" hair care. My color is fabulous! The ambience was refreshing. I have referred my Mother to Brittany as well. Can't wait for my next appointment. more

Let me start by saying I'm a white gal, but have been asked more times than I can count if I am biracial because of my ultra curly hair. I felt like a freak for a very long time, but I can honestly say that my attitude towards my curls has drastically changed since my visit to ""Curltopia"". I came in HATING my frizzy, bushy, nappy mess of a mane & left LOVING my curls-- I have never known how to care for my hair & had resorted to chemically straightening & flat ironing it to death. It was so damaged, I decided the best thing to do was to walk away from all chemicals, cold turkey & just let it grow out. The result was I had natural frizzy curls that lacked definition down to my chin & a good 5 inches of straighened, damaged hair on the ends. The 2 textures looked nightmarish, but Robin was able to work miracles! She did a Deva Cut to remove the processed hair & was able to tame my crazy tight curls & give me amazing definition. For the first time EVER I have NO FRIZZ! Never again will I be ashamed of my hair & I have Robin to thank for giving me a great hair cut, introducing me to products that actually work, & for giving me the confidence I need to *rock* my curls proudly!!! more

I have been going to Curltopia for 2 years now. I always have a pleasant experience whenever I go. They offer beverages to their clients and they're engaging. I don't ever have to wait more than 15 mins to be seen. Giselle, my stylist, does a very good job of keeping her clients moving steadily along. She's an amazing colorist and she's the only person I trust to cut my beautiful coils. Definitely check Curltopia out if you're a naturally wavy, curly or coily-kinky girl! more
