I?ve been in Atlanta for four month and I was in desperate need of a colorist. A co-worker recommended Curltopia - she said you must see Giselle!

Great salon for natural hair (straight or curly) 4/24/2011

Nice and polite staff always make my visits pleasant and comfortable. I wear my hair natural and they truly can handle long natural waive hair like mine as well as they can do curly hair like my daughter's. The staff listens to our requests for my daughter's hair which is a little difficult to handle. Her hair is very tight curly and has a big amount of hair. But Stacy does a great job at condition it, braiding and straighten it. She always leaves the salon looking spectacular and the style lasts 2 -3 weeks. more

NIce Natural Salon 4/22/2011

This was my first visit to Curltopia was a very pleasant experience! I arrived and was greeted by a welcoming space and courteous staff. I did not wait long; Giselle came out and introduced herself. We went to her station and had a brief consultation about my goals for my hair and my expectations of this visit. Giselle was very patient and thorough in her explanations, which put me at ease. I can always appreciate someone talking with me about what I want for my hair before proceeding to do anything to it. I have been natural for about 10 years, though I have only been wearing natural styles regularly for about 2.5 yrs. I had become tired of doing twist sets every week and feeling that I was losing so much hair in the process. Needless to say, I was looking for a something new! Well I found it?Giselle talked me into cutting my ends that were causing so much shedding during washes & my style of choice..COIL OUT (which was new to me). I liked the style and it allowed me to go about 2wks before I had to restyle which was a nice break. My bill was more than double of what I planned when making the appointment. ? I am just a firm believer that if natural hair needs hydration and the salon subscribes to this belief then hydration treatments should be included into the price of the hair style (which is more than ample). I don?t like having to choose between what a stylist views as necessary hair health & finances. Giselle did a great job! She really knows & enjoys natural hair and was very engaging. I liked that she wrote up a maintenance plan for me to do between visits which will be a lot because I can?t pay this every two weeks or even once a month. Overall, great salon, wonderful stylist but overpriced!! more

Stacy at Curltopia is the best! 4/21/2011

I did my accidental big chop in February after receiving a horrendous trim from a salon I will not name. After doing some research on natural hair salons in Atlanta, I chose to go to Curltopia in the hopes that they could guide me in the right direction on my natural hair journey. CURLTOPIA EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS! more

GISELLE IS GREEEAAATTT!!! 4/18/2011

I absolutely love this salon! The customer service is really top notch. Giselle is my stylist and she is awesome. She has a really good energy and that is really important to me! She really educated me about what products to use on my hair and gave me a daily regime to use. I have been twice in the past 4 weeks and can't wait for my 3rd appt. I would refer anyone to this salon who really wants to learn how to manage their natural hair and be sure to ask for G-I-S-E-L-L-E! more

You must see Giselle 4/15/2011

Ok - so I am also going to jump on the Giselle bandwagon. She really knows natural hair, is very pleasant to work with and provides good advice on products that would work for my hair. I always feel comfortable when I walk into Curltopia - which is big for me. I've visted several salons in Atlanta that made me feel as if THEY were doing ME a favor by doing my hair! That's not the case at Curltopia - the environment is friendly and inviting! more

Nice Visit, Will Return to Curltopia. 4/11/2011

Curltopia is a very nice trendy and professional salon. The interior looks nice and the staff are friendly. I am in the process of transitioning so I decided to visit Curltopia to get my hair styled and get some questions answered. I went on a Thursday afternoon so I had no wait. My stylist, Aliah, was very friendly and knowledgeable. She answered all of my questions and provided advice of taking care of my hair while transitioning. Since I am transitioning Aliah did a flat-twist style and I received lots of compliments on it. The salon is not cheap...my visit cost me $75. However, I will definitely return to Curltopia and Aliah when I am ready for the big chop! more

Giselle ROCKS! 4/3/2011

I woke up on a Tuesday and decided I wanted my hair done that day! I was lucky I got an appointment at 12 and as usual Giselle did a GREAT job on my hair. It was my first time at Curltopia salon and its really cute and well kept. The staff were friendly and professional which made for a relaxing experience. I had my hair colored for the first time in 3 years, steam hydration treatment and a blow out. I am very happy with my color, its exactly what I wanted and compliments my skin tone. Giselle got my hair straighter than I like it, as I am a natural and don't like the stick straight look anymore. But overall, I left a satisfied customer. I do think the pricing is a bit expensive compared to what I am use to paying so I can't go as often as I'd like to. But I will go for maintenance every 2-3 months. more

NATURAL HAIR @ PEACE 4/1/2011

On 3/26/11, I had the pleasure of an appt with Giselle. I was not sure what I needed. The atmosphere was open and everyone was busy. I liked that because I like to watch all the stylists @ work. I was greeted @ the desk and and a told to have a seat and then I was offered a beverage. After a few minutes Giselle introduced herself and discussed with me her plan for getting my dry kinky hair moisturized and in control. I received steam hydration, haircut, and a twistout style. My hair turned out great and I have received so many compliments! She even gave me a treatment plan for my hair and instructed me on what products to use to care for my hair @ home. Curltopia exceeded my expectations and I will definitely return. My natural hair is finally @ peace now and can start growing healthy. Thanks Giselle!!!! more

Hair 3/29/2011

I had a good experience with Giselle the stylist. She explained everything to me and I was very grateful. She was gentle with the hair and no hair pulling observed. I spent alot of money buying the products but it was worth it since I have seen great result. I highly recommend anyone going natural to visit this nice place... more

Very Satisfied Customer 3/28/2011

I have been going natural for a year now, and let me tell you I was on the border of relaxing my hair until one of my sorority sisters told me about Curltpoia. Giselle was my stylist and she was very professional. She talked to me about my hair type, how to take care of it and what products to use. Giselle didn't realize that she was talking to a woman who had already spent nearly $400.00 on hair products just trying different ones, so several of the products she was recommending to me I already had. I was very nervous when she told me that my hair needed to be hydrated, because all I could think of was being underneath the hydration machine for 1 hour while she worked on another client, but she proved me wrong, because she told me 30 minutes and it was 30 minutes. Great, because I really hate when your dyer has stopped and you have to wait another 25 minutes before your stylist comes back to you. Giselle hydrated, trimmed and styled my hair(coil). I am most definitely staying natural because of my experience with Giselle. I must say it was a little costly, but it was well worth it, because I don't mind paying for GREAT SERVICE. more

A Heaven Sent Salon! 3/28/2011

This place is heaven sent! I have been natural for over 10 years and have searched for a place that truly understands my hair. Other salons I have visited in the Atlanta area just never seemed to ?get? my hair. Their products and suggestions didn?t work. However, from the moment I sat in Giselle?s chair, it was like she had my hair! She knew exactly how my hair behaved and understood its texture. I decided for my first visit that I would have my hair straightened and cut. Typically, when my hair is straightened, it only lasts 3 to 4 days. I am now on day 10 and it still looks amazing even in rainy weather! I am returning to Curltopia on March 30th for a natural curly style. I am so excited about this upcoming visit because not only will I leave with a sheet detailing the products to use on my hair, but Giselle will also teach me how to achieve the same look at home! I can?t wait to see the outcome. I highly recommend Curltopia to EVERYONE. The salon has professional staff and a welcoming atmosphere. Curltopia will make sure that you are physically comfortable (i.e. you will be offered beverages, magazines, etc) and most of all comfortable with your hair. more

Best Hair Salon for Naturals 3/25/2011

Atmosphere: The first thing I noticed about this salon was how clean and professional it was! It was simply fantastic to go and get my happy naps handled in such a relaxed yet fun atmosphere. I was offered a drink several times during my visit and was definitely kept comfortable. Another thing I noticed about Curtlopia was the bathroom. I have never been to a salon with a bathroom that I dreaded using. The bathroom at Curltopia was nice and clean with nice smelling soaps and real toilet paper! I know, not about hair, but these things matter when you're getting your hair done, in my opinion. Hair: Giselle did my hair and she is simply amazing! I have had natural hair for 13 years, but I honestly had no idea how to take care of it - I would just buy different products and see what would happen. Giselle first explained my hair type to me (4b/c) and explained the things that my hair needs to be healthy (moisture, moisture, moisture) and then she explained to me the products that would help me achieve this. She first cut my hair down (I figured a big chop was in order) at my request - I wanted to start over being a happy nappy head. She talked to me as she worked and wrote down all the instructions that I needed to handle my own hair. I got my hair done two weeks ago and her suggestions are working! Now I will say that there is one product that I have yet to buy, but some of the products were expensive, but so far, the ones I got are definitely working! Afterwards: I have received several comments on my hair and it is soft and very hydrated! Even though this salon is 20 miles away from my house, I will definitely be returning and once my daughter is old enough to sit still for longer than 10 minutes, I will take her to see Giselle as well! Great spot right outside of Atlanta - I highly recommend it! more

Knowledgeable Cosmetologists not just Stylists 3/21/2011

I recently, spontaneously did the Big Chop myself and noticed that my hair was extremely dry. After reading all of the great reviews, I spontaneously (again) decided to call Curltopia, Friday 3/18 and try to get a same day appointment (Though I would not recommend this if you really want an appointment, it took two hours for me to luck up and I had 25 minutes to get there!). The receptionist was very nice and accommodating. She took my number and called me back after they had a client to cancel. Yay for me! more

Left with Confidence and Helpful Info 3/20/2011

I have been growing out my hair from a relaxer since May 2010, I finally decided that I wanted/needed to let the professionals take a look at it and give me advice for health and moving forward. I goggled ""natural hair salons in Smyrna,"" and ""Curltopia"" popped up! After reading several reviews, I decided to call and make my first appt. I was ecstatic to know that they could get me in the same day!! When I asked the receptionist who my stylist would be, she said, ""Giselle."" I immediately felt comfortable as I have read several reviews about her alone. Giselle did not disappoint! She was very professional, courteous, personable, and helpful. Throughout the whole process, she talked to me about my hair and how best to care for it. I left with a SMILE and a sheet detailing what products would work best for my hair. I received a hydration, trim, and a coil-out (she made it look sooo easy....it?s not! :). I will definitely be back in a few weeks for another trim and hydration with Giselle. more

Run to Curltopia! 3/20/2011

I was on the brink!. Of what you ask...a do-it-yourself perm. I chopped my shoulder-blade-length hair 2 years ago and while many people seem to love my curls, but they are so unruly and dry. Curltopia was my last chance. Sarah answered the phone and she was and is sooo sweet. She scheduled me with my hair angel, Jay. The atmosphere was inviting and beautifully decorated. The entire staff was so friendly and encouraging. Jay's work was so effortless. She showed me what to use and how to do it. Ladies and Gents, my curls were georgeous. In the store that day a lady kept staring and finally apologized saying, ""Your hair is so pretty and I thought it was a wig. I really knew it wasn't, but the curls are perfect. Where did you get it done?"" ------ CURLTOPIA! more

Love My Hair 3/13/2011

I love what Jay at Curltopia did to my hair! I have been transitioning for about two years, but after one last braided attempt, I decided to do the ?big chop? once and for all. On Tuesday, March 8, 2011, the finality of my decision finally happened. A couple days prior to my first visit, I had mistakenly made a wrong turn and ?discovered? this salon. The day I paid my visit, I decided to just walk-in hoping that I would be able to fit into someone?s schedule. I had no idea how busy this place was. more

Deva Curl Cut 3/13/2011

I have gone for several months to have Robin cut my hair with the Deva Curl cut - she is patient and has taught me about my curly hair, but also listens to what I know about how it works for me. I was attracted to this salon because of the the specific attention to curly hair. I have not been disappointed and have recommended Robin to other friends. RRPK more

Quality Service with a Smile 3/12/2011

I had a scheduled hair appointment on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 with Jay. I called ahead to let the salon know that I was running late and the representative at the front desk was super accommodating. Although I was running late, Jay was very patient with me. She balanced the time spent with her clients very well. This was the first time that I was getting the ""shingling"" (advanced finger styling) so I was nervous with the outcomes. I had difficulty understanding the difference between shingling and fingerstyling and Jay provided a great explanation, allowing me to make an informed decision. I usually wear a twist out, but was so pleased with the service that I plan to return and try other styles as well. more
