Disingenuous Dealing 7/8/2010

So I almost bought a car from College Park Honda. It started on the internet - when I solicited several dealers for their best internet quote. College Park Honda offered the best deal by far. I followed up, and was prepared to buy the car. Then the salesman told me that his original quote, which we had discussed extensively several times, was incorrect, and wanted to raise the price more than $1,000.00. I felt this was disingenuous and essentially amounted to unfair business practice. After the experience, I found these reviews online, and realized that many others had had bad experiences. Just one more voice to concur. And this was in July, 2010, well after the change in management. more

Don't take your car to College Park Honda 5/13/2010

I was satisfied with the sales department. Unfortunately, their service department more than ruined their reputation. They nearly got us killed. They had us leave after service with EVERY single lug nut on our car only finger tight. By the time we found out, we had already lost one lug nut and the tires were shifting as we drove.? Pros: Convenient hours Cons: Prices & workmanship not trustworthy more

Expectedly Bad 4/5/2010

I read many of the negative complaints about College Park Honda spread all over the internet. Like a fool, I wasted a bit of time visiting. I was looking to replace a fairly new Civic with something a bit larger. The March 2010 incentives seemed inviting. While I expected bad things out of CP, the reality was even worse. They offered to sell me a new vehicle at an unrealistically high price (compared to other delears), they low-balled the trade-on by nearly $2K (over what I got at another dealer), and they insisted on some overpriced add-ons (which other dealers did not). Being impatient by nature, I simply left when it became obvious what CP was up too. I shudder to think what their finance department would be like. (Based on a recent review by Shann V, my concerns regarding CP's finance department seem to be well founded.) My advice to anyone thinking of buying from CP is to check the internet. I think only a fool would waste time with these people. By the way, I ended up purchasing more

UNAUTHORIZED REPAIRS, NO RESPONSE FROM OWNERSHIP 3/6/2010

I've taken my 2006 Civic to College serveral times for service. I was ready to purchase a 2010 Accord this morning when I dropped off my Civic for an oil change. After a few hours, I recieved a call that I needed front brakes, tires balanced, a tune up and 4 wheel alignment. I agreed to the tune up and alignment and was told that the cost for the 100,000 mile tune up including the oil change would be $525. Not knowing all the costs of repairs, I agreed to the charge for the oil change and tune up. When I picked up the car and paid the bill, I realized that I was charged for an air filter, pollen filter and break cleaning and adjusting, none of which I was told about or agreed too. I complained and received a call from the service manager or offered me discounts on future service work. This is unacceptable and I asked or the owner to contact me, they asked the sales man who I was going to purchase the new car from to call me and try to fix the problem. Again, I asked for the owner but Cons: Cheats more

College Park Honda is horrible 8/15/2009

To anyone looking to buy a car in the Washington, DC, Metro Area: Hopefully your experience will be better than mine when buying a new vehicle. I am writing this in regards to the terrible service I have dealt with since buying my car. I purchased a 2009 Honda Accord at College Park Honda. From the beginning the service was not welcoming or friendly, something most people look for when buying a car. I am a student at East Carolina University and needed to have the tag and title in North Carolina. Tharius Robinson, the Finance manager lead me to believe that this would be an easy process and that their policy was they would take care of it (they did not let buyers issue tags). Once sending them the required information they needed (insurance and license) I should have my tags within two weeks. My temporary tag lasted me two months allowing me enough time to get the information to them. Within two weeks of my temporary tag expiring I started worrying that they were not going to more

Ok 3/26/2009

Went here a couple times for oil changes. The service is friendly and efficient. They periodically send out oil change coupons for $20 for oil, lube, and filter. They generally run right on schedule for these routine maintenance appointments. Priced tires as well and they are a bit cheaper than many of the surrounding businesses and in general, would be a good place to go for car service. more

Lousy Customer Service 2/9/2009

I first started with College Park Honda about 4 or 5 years ago. Though they were pricey I thought they did decent work. That was until I went in for my 30,000 major tune-up. I have a 2004 Honda CRV and thought that I needed a major tune-up at 30,000(like most cars). I called the day before I went in to price a major tune-up. I was told it was in the mid 300's range. I took my vehicle in the next day. When it was time to pay, the invoice had mid 400's. I bought this to the service managers attention. He assured me that that was the correct price. I informed him of the price quoted to me the day before. After meeting with his manager he changed it to the quoted price. Last year I took my vehicle in to have the 60,000 major tune-up done. I was informed that my vehicle did not need a major tune-up until I reached 100,000 miles. Basically, the service manager just took my money for the 30,000 tune-up. Recently, I reminded him of that visit. Of course he denied being the service manager on r more

Its not worth it! 1/9/2009

We purchased a 2008 Odyssey from CP Honda late last year and what an ordeal. First, we called several Honda dealerships look for a specific model and CP Honda was the lone dealership to have what we were looking for. They were a bit aggressive with contacting us before we stopped by, I recall three phones calls in one hour on a Sunday morning, should have taken it as a sign. Anyway, once we arrived there the salesperson was unsure they had the minivan, of course I was irate since we traveled some 30 miles to see the vehicle. After 15 minutes they were able to locate the minivan (another sign). It was dark when we checked the car out so I guess we missed a few things but did notice it was a little dirty for a new car. It did have some miles on which they couldn't say exactly how they got there (really, that was our third sign). We were also turning in our leased vehicle which they said they would take care of for us. In our original conversations the "implied" they would take care of ou more

call not returned 12/2/2008

Although I have been a client at CP Honda and although I think their prices are outrageous (convenience speaks loudest), I called with a question at 8am one morning, and then again at 9am. No one returned my call. By 10am, another service center had taken my car in and by 10:30, they were done. I guess even in tough economic times, my business is not valued, nor is customer service a priority. more

Outrageous Prices 11/10/2008

They quoted a price of $616 to change an alternator on a 1995 Honda Civic. I called around and found three other garages in the area that only charged $350 or less. It's clear that this is price-gouging, trying to take advantage of people. more

Do yourself a favor, pass by College Park Honda 10/27/2008

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. The first time I went to CP Honda was after I graduated college in '96. I bought a Civic from them that I asked was in an accident or not and was told, "Absolutely not!" I went to my mechanic, he popped the hood and said, "Uh, you do know this car has been repaired from an accident don't you?" I was pissed. I wrote letters to the BBB and the dealership and heard nothing back from anyone. Yet, the car served me well for several years. In March of '08 I was looking to buy a used car and ended up talking to a salesman from CP Honda ironically. He told me he understood why I had a bad taste in my mouth from my previous experience and that the place had undergone a complete sales/service overhaul to clean house and refurbish their reputation. So I went to see what they had and ended up purchasing a Pontiac from them PAID IN FULL. Not only did the check engine light come on two days after I bought the car, one of the rear sea more

Beware of this dealership 9/5/2008

I got the same treatment some of the other people got on here got. Here's my story, i went in to purchase a new CR-V EX-L Navi which i got approved for a lease on. I traded in my Element which they did not give me near what i wanted. Anyways, i signed all the paper work up in finance and finally got out of there at around 10:00pm that evening. I had the car for about three weeks or so and then out of the blue i get a call from these guys saying i have to bring the car in. They told me i have to put more money down and that the bank could not do the lease. Why would do all the paper work(sign a contract) and push the vehicle on someone and then want it back? They told me they rolled the dice on the deal and it didn't go through( what a load of garbage). Anyways beware of these people they are only out to make money any ways necessary and lie to you. more

Wonderful Staff 8/16/2008

I have been bringing my Accord there since 2004 and Andre Arnold has been such a pleasure to work with. I am very sad that he is no longer at Honda, but before he left he did introduce me to Kurth Smith. Kurth has done everything possible to keep me informed with what is going on with my vehicle and I feel that he is straight forward and honest. I will continue to bring my vehicle there as long as I recieve the level of service that Andre and Kurth have given me in the past four years. more

BEST SERVICE EVER 8/9/2008

I read these comments and have to wonder if this is the same dealership that I go to!!! I have been servicing my car at College Park Honda for almost 9 years now and have nothing but EXCELLENT service. Kurth and Sharon bend over backwards to take care of my car and even remember me by name as I walk in the door. This is the BEST place to go for service. They are now even open on Sundays for service...which I love!! more

Most horrible service department ever! 7/31/2008

If you ever speak to Sharon at Honda College Park do not expect to receive any service at all. She is rude and could not be less interested in helping you. She told me I was not in the system and neither was the brand new car I bought from them. Then she suddenly realized my car was standing right infront of her all along. She will actually tell you that she could not be bothered less with you needing assistance. The serive center overall will not return calls and simply place you on hold for ages to then tell you that there is nothing they can assist you with. The sales people are great but the service could not be worse. Honda College Park should seriously try to protect their image and hire service people who actually like their job and want to do it. more

Service "Above & Beyond" 7/1/2008

We came to DC to visit family and our air conditioning died en route from Boston. Ironically my car had been serviced by a local (Boston-area) Acura/Honda dealership with a great reputation and they failed to pinpoint the problem, just saying the compressor was noisy. So, stuff happens.\r \r Anyway, we went through hoops trying to get the A/C diagnosed and fixed closer to where my brothers lived. A nearby garage determined it was the compressor, and further investigation - with College Park Honda's help - proved that it was covered under our extended warranty.\r \r Brennan at College Park Honda worked with us to get the car in, diagnosed, parts ordered, and car repaired. He also facilitated our getting a loaner car from nearby Enterprise (they were also great). \r \r The level of personal customer service, quality of auto repair, and Brennan's follow up far exceeded our expectations, especially judging by what's written in reviews. All I can say is FIRST, don't trust a review from Anonymous. more

Report Them!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 6/16/2008

This dealership is only out to sell cars! Realizing that is their business, I incurred a horrible situation with them. If anyone would like to chat regarding the problem(s) they had, please let me know. In the meantime, report them to every consumer protection agency possible including the Better Business Bureau. I really feel bad for the sales people who are there to make an earnest living. My problem derives from "upper management" who will "appear" to be concerned. they will not return your calls unless you intend to purchase a vehicle from them or the call will benefit "their" behalf. Just know that there is someone there who is going to ruin their reputation because of his attitude towards consumers. Just remember that some of the employees are only doing what they are being told to do. Stay away from them unless you plan to obtain financing from your banking institution or they will be calling you, too back in two or three weeks to inform you they could not get your car financed more

Please please be careful with this dealer 6/5/2008

First of all , they will let you sign all the papers required for the finance \r they let you take the vehicle with you saying that you got it for a special deal \r 2 weeks later they call you up and tell you that they tried hard to get the loan approved \r But coouldnot getit from honda finance\r they will ask you pay 7-9 % apr for the car that you have already signed the contract \r If you ask them to take away the car \r they will harass you legally saying that you have used the car (More miles than on the contract) \r Believe me guys, I faced this situation with a new honda accord 2008 \r if you want to buy a honda better go for another dealer \r and the Director/Boss man is a Scumbag \r He does not have any courtesy towards customers \r Please please be careful while going for college park honda \r Dont fall for their words more
