I first brought my 9 year-old son for an eye exam. We were brought back by a young man, for measurements of his eyes. He had a great deal of trouble obtaining the measurements, probably because my son wasn't keeping his eyes still. This went on for over 5 minutes, though he never spoke to my son to explain to him what he needed him to do. Finally, the young man called for Keegan, the optometric assistant, to come in and do the measurements. She was very friendly, and explained all the devices to my son, in a very age-appropriate way. \r After that, we were brought in for the actual exam, by Dr. Moore. He did not say ""hello"" to my son, or say anything to establish rapport / make him feel at ease. At one point during the eye exam, my son giggled about something. Dr. Moore told him to ""please stop laughing"", in a serious tone of voice.\r At the conclusion, it was determined that my son's vision was borderline, but glasses weren't necessary at this time. I very much appreciated the honesty.\r \r About 2 weeks later, I came in with my daughter, who is a young adult and contact lens wearer. Following her exam, which she went into alone, I was told that she has an astigmatism and would need toric lenses to correct that. We sat down with Chris Stefano, the optician, to discuss the possibility of new lenses. I asked what was wrong with her old contact lenses. He said that her old lenses were plain spherical lenses; that my daughter needs toric lenses to correct the astigmatism. He explained very clearly to me what our costs would be for the contact lens fitting and the lenses that she would try. I agreed at that point to go ahead with the fitting, since, evidently, my daughter did not have the correct type of lenses (or so I was told). So, I paid for the contact lens fitting ($126.65, which included 1 pair of contacts to try out) and my copay for the exam.\r As we drove home, my daughter informed me that no one had ever looked at her old lenses, or checked her vision with them in. I called the next day, and spoke to Chris. I asked him why he told me that my daughter's old lenses were not the right kind, when no one had ever looked at them. He did not deny saying that, and only said that he didn't know why he said it. I told him that I would like to return the trial lenses, and get a refund for the fitting fee. After speaking, at length, with Chris and the office manager, Pat, the bottom line is that Brighton Vision will not give refunds.\r ***As it turns out, my daughter's old lenses WERE toric lenses. more

Happy customer 1/21/2012

I just had my first exam at Brighton Vision Associates today and I'm very happy with the service I received. The technology is state of the art, much different from what I ever saw at my old optometrists office. I got to see a picture of the inside of my eye which was awesome! The doctor told me that the contacts I've been wearing for over 10 years were depriving my eyes of oxygen, something my old doctor never told me, and got me switched to a healthier pair. They even gave me an extra pair just in case, which my old office never did. The staff is friendly and helpful, overall it was a great experience. more

Look great, see great! 9/30/2011

I just stepped in to this office because i'm a police officer and i was at subway next door for lunch. I found this great pair of Puma frames, i asked them to put them aside for me until i was able to come back and get them. Let's just say, i forgot about them for Awhile.....then i finally came back 2 weeks later, the pretty young lady behind the desk says ""hi"" , i didn't even say anything, she called out to someone else and they brought out the Puma glasses i put on hold. They were able to fit me in for this high tech eye exam, i've never seen so much technology for an eye exam! I used to do 1 or 2 with an old fart in a cramped room, but Dr Moore showed me a laser scan and pictures of the inside of my eye. He also pointed out that i need to be wearing glasses to drive, which i had a suspicion about but was reluctant to admit! Overall, I am very happy with the outcome of my trip to this optical and am telling all my friends and family to check out this new place! more

Huge Selection 5/13/2011

Went there since they take my insurance, VSP, had a huge selection of designer glasses to choose from. I also got them in under 1 hour which was great since other places that take VSP told me it would take a few weeks. Highly recommend this office more

Dear Reviewer50: I understand your 5/6/2011

Dear Reviewer50: I understand your frustration with misunderstanding the exam process. We disclose all our fees to the patients prior to performing any services. As such we always start an eye exam with no contacts on. Once we finish our basic exam if a person would like to renew their contact lens prescription or try something new we then proceed with the fitting process. At the visit when we explained your daughter needed toric lenses it was for you to make an informed decision and have all available information in front of you. When the staff explained what astigmatism was to you it came across to you as a new concept. Either way if your daughter just wanted to renew her current contacts or try new ones the fees to do so are exactly the same. Contact lens fees are not always covered by insurance carriers and we tried very hard to explain that to you both. Its much like getting a drivers license renewed. You may already know how to drive since you were 16 years of age but now and again you have to meet certain criteria to keep driving. Contacts are very much like that, we need to see people annually to make sure the eye and the contact that is the eye meet certain criteria for another years use. In the case of your daughter we simply provided you with all the information ahead of us performing the services of which she needed to continue to wear contacts either a new brand or her current brand. We do offer refunds when appropriate. Brighton Vision more

Poor Service All Around 2/10/2011

I decided this year that I was going to give my business to a small independent. I knew that it might not be the lowest price, but I did expect a high level of personal service. Unfortunately, I didn't even get a basic level of fair service. I had no issues with the Doctor. Very good exam. It was the manager and rest of the small staff you can count on one hand. The manager seemed like it was her first day. I had to help her with paperwork for my insurances. Didn't have a clue on the differences in lens types at all. After fumbling through the rest of order - 1 pair of glasses and contacts. The doctor finish my exam. The receptionist asked my to sign my credit card receipt and I was sent on my way without anything else. I followed up to inquire on the status of my order, given I was given any idea of the time frame. And I wasn't in any rush. I was told someone would call me back. Never received a call...attempted 3 more calls, no response. Three weeks later, I was fed up. I called and asked to speak with the manager. Was told she would call me back. I said that wasn't good enough and asked what time she would be in and I would call back. The receptionist told me she didn't now. Call again an hour later and an older man, I believe related to the Doctor told me it was 'policy' not to give out information about the manager's time in/out and told me someone would call me back without taking my number and hung up on me. Bottom line...I reported them to my insurance companies and had to ask them to contact them to get them to call me back. I've NEVER experience this type of complete lack of service before. Got a rude voice mail from the manger who blamed me and my insurance...funny she wouldn't call me back, or give me a simple status and this was my fault or my insurance company's? Would not recommend this company at all. more

Great Frame Selection, Great Staff 10/7/2009

I can always count on the staff at Brighton Vision to help me find a great frame for myself or my family. Now that my children are grown, they bring their own families to Brighton Vision as well. As our insurance companies change, I have found they continue to carry our various insurance plans. They always have a smile and a story to share. I do know their long time optician Dennis passed away, but he has been replaced by by Jon an excellent and experienced optician. I was just there and their hours were Tuesday thru Saturday. :) Pros: Shopped there for 10+years more

Overpriced, Bad Hours, and Bad Customer Service 9/3/2009

Exams and Glasses cost much more than other places in town. You are forwarded to a messag service when you call because they rarely answer the phone. They are not open at all on Fridays. \r When I went in to have my new glasses adjusted to fit my face they broke them while adjusting them and strung me along for 2 weeks telling me each day they would be ready and they were not. \r When I finally asked them to refund me for the glasses so that I could go somewhere else the manager refused. She was vary rude hung up on me.\r I thought that I would get better glasses and better service if I paid more to go there, but that was clearly not the case!
