I had about five estimates performed for my home's roof replacement. Only a few I was able to compare apples to apples, and they were the GAF Master Elite installers. Don, the owner for the Hampton Roads Area, had an abundance of experience and knowledge. His price was the best, for the same materials, etc. Installation happened on the exact week he predicted. He even took pictures during the process of roof removal while I was at work. I was able to watch the final stages of installation, and the installers were very friendly and answered any of my questions. He was personally at the house shortly after completion to do a final walk around. Highly recommend. more

Description Of Work: Roof replacement, 2 skylights replaced, installation of power vent I received three estimates from local companies to replace my 22 year old roof. Don Harrelson came out and thoroughly explained the process. His workers arrived at 7am on the dot, as previously arranged. They were quick, courteous, and cleaned up after themselves while they were working. They finished my roof by 5pm the same day (I think my roof is a little over 2000 square feet.) Don made the process painless and seamless. They also re-roofed the shed in my backyard, as required by my Homeowners Association. I highly recommend their services! more

We had Best Roofing of Virginia replace our 21 year old roof with GAF Timberline lifetime singles. The supplies were delivered on Thursday; the work crew started early Friday and finished the completed job Saturday afternoon. I also had all three of the current Plexiglas skylights replaced with insulated glass skylights. I watched the type of workmanship being done on the roof during the two days and the work crew was efficient, meticulous, and thorough. The cleanup was complete; I havent found any nails or other debris in the yard. The following day after the new roof was installed we had a steady rain with no signs of leaks. We are very satisfied with our new GAF roof. more

Don (salesman)was very knowledgeable during our discussion while recommending different options for the roof and explained the costs and warranty options. The Best Roofing Crew arrived as scheduled, removed the old roof and replaced some necessary wood. It turned out more wood had to be replaced than expected so an additional reasonable charge was added. The crew installed the ice/water barrier, flashing & architectural roofing with the 50-year GAF warranty on both the house at a fair price. Don checked up on the crew during the install and discussed with me how the process was going. Removing and installing a roof is a messy job and the crew did a good job keeping most of the dropping most of the debris into their trailer. The crew worked until dark the first day and had to come back to complete the job and cleanup the next day. The gentleman that did come the next day did a good job cleaning up except for running the magnet over the yard to clean up all the nails. I was a little disappointed that when I addressed this with Don he said he would talk to his crew about this for future work. I have since removed nails from the yard. I haven't received my warranty in the mail as yet. Hopefully it will arrive soon. Overall I'm very satisfied with Best Roofing's work and the GAF product, afterall we came through Hurricane Sandy without any leaks only a few days after the installation. more

The company respresentative was clear about all costs and insured that I was completely aware of them AND the specific tasks that would be performed. The on-site crew accomplished the job in a timely manner, the supervisor was courteous and amenable to answering quiestions, and they took great pains to ensure that the worksite was sanitized of all work-related debris. I hired Best Roofing of VA to replace my roof in October. The crew arrived at 7AM and had completed the job by that evening!!! FAST and efficient. The workmanship is excellent. Installed a quality roof with a 50-year GAF warranty on both the house and detached garage for a fair price. While we discussed the contract, Don recommended options for the roof and explained the costs and warranty implications of each. Don recommended lead pipe sleeves for the plumbing stacks and they look great. Don checked up on the crew and corrected the one small miscommunication to ensure the roof was installed exactly per the contract. The very experienced and knowledgeable crew was polite, and did a nice job cleaning up. Removing and installing a roof is a messy job so plan on removing vehicles and keeping pets away from the house while the work is ongoing. However when the crew left they picked up every little bit of waste (including nails). We had more rotten wood that needed replaced than expected so that added cost to the initial quote. Received a military rebate (GAF Roofs for Troops rebate), and a $150 rebate. (Expect the GAF rebate to take a few months) Bottom line, getting a new roof was easier than expected. Installed GAF Timberline HD Lifetime architectural shingles with 15# felt paper, ridge vents and 4 lead pipe sleeves. On the low slope roofs installed 30# felt and ice & water around perimeter. Work included removing 15 gravity vents on roof and installing a 4 utility vent New gutters on second story had to wait until Hurricane Sandy passed. more

If you want value for money, choose Best Roofing. The job was completed on time, with good clean up, at a good price and the roof looks great. There was a slight mix up with the underlayment that was delivered, but Don took care of the problem without hesitation. more
