The GOOD! We ended up having 2 different salespeople which was fine. The first salesperson did great but had found a different job while we were waiting on our new van to come in. Dewayne Noble was the salesperson that we ended up making the purchase from when we went back to do the paperwork and pick up our new Odyssey. Dewayne was great to work with. He made sure everything for us went smoothly. He took the extra time to go over some of the features of the van for us before we left with it that day. Dewayne gets 5 stars!
The BAD!
We went to Autopark looking for a new Odyssey. We found out from our 1st salesperson whose name I will not mention since they no longer work there, that there was a shortage on parts because of the Japan earthquake and this is causing a shortage on all vehicle production. There was only about 3 Odysseys on the lot, none with the equipment package we wanted. The 1st sales manager we talked to, don't remember his name, told us that there was 1 or 2 with the correct package coming in in a few weeks but not our first choice in color, and we could reserve one of them if we wished. We did that because it appeared that they were in really short supply and high demand. We were told by the 1st sales manager that we could apply for the special financing now and hold the rate until our van came in, so we did. We were not told UP FRONT, but should have been, that we needed to negotiate a selling price and sign a purchase agreement that day even though we would not be held liable for the purchase if we changed our mind. At this time our 1st sales manager was only willing to come off the MSRP $500 which I told him was not good enough especially for repeat customers which we were. He gave us the impression that he was doing us a favor at $500 off and that he could sell them ever day at MSRP since they were in short supply, take it or leave it. A few days later we decided to take our name off the van from Autopark and do business somewhere else. We checked with other local and distant Honda dealers and all of them were willing to come off the price a lot more than Autopark but no one had an Odyssey like we wanted coming in and didn't know when they would get one. About a week or so later just by chance, my wife got on Edmunds website and saw that Autopark was supposed to have the exact van we wanted on the lot or coming in. My wife called and talked to a different sales manager, the 2nd one at Autopark. He offered us a lot more off the MSRP, gave us the special interest rate we had qualified for in the beginning and told us there was a van in our favorite color and preferred package coming in soon if we wanted to put our name on that one. He also informed us that Honda shuts down or had shut down all production for 2 weeks in July, no wonder the vehicle shortage! So we very reluctantly put our name on that van and ended up purchasing it when it came in. Not sure why we didn't get that offer off the MSRP in the beginning from the first sales manager when I told him $500 wasn't good enough!!! At least we ended up with the color and package we really wanted even though it was an extremely irritating 2 or 3 week process!! This is why I am only giving an overall 2 stars and in no way reflects the great job our salesperson Dewayne did as I mentioned before. Good luck if you decide to purchase from Autopark. ""No Games No Gimmicks always the lowest price"" right????
